As SF Weekly journalist Mike Rowell says, Part comedy act, part psychodrama, the ZIP CODE RAPISTS were a volatile, often antagonistic duo who wreaked havoc on San Franciscos underground during the first half of the 90s. You never knew quite what to expect from guitarist JOHN SINGER and vocalist GREGG TURKINGTON, but they always challenged the conventions of what a band should be." From their supposed beginnings as a Doors cover band from Texas, to their shameful years of bloated excess, to their acrimonious breakup and inevitable decade-later reunion, this CD details the hope and anger, the trauma and triumph, of this-Ç quintessentially American folk-punk combo. In addition to the Zip Code Rapists astonishing 1992 debut LP Sing and Play the Three Doctors and Other Sounds of Today, this CD compiles the overlong 7-inch The Man Cant Bust Our Music (1993) and the inexcusably short 12-inch 94124 (1995), all of which have been lovingly remastered for todays more discerning listener. This deluxe package also includes previously unheard outtakes and compilation tracks, four songs from an incendiary 1993 show at CBGB, and a touching tribute to Seals and Crofts from a 2006 reunion show. With the exception of 94124, none of this seminal material has ever been released on CD. And none of it was ever released on good-quality vinyl after competent mastering, either, so even if youre familiar with the original releases, youll be amazed by all the details you missed! Best of all, each CD comes with a FREE RUB-ON ZCR TATTOO, which can be worn for a day, or cherished for a lifetime." - Eabla.
