SMEGMA - Dives Headfirst into Punk Rock
"In 1978 after 5 years into our musical journey in solitude, Smegma found itself in the middle of Portlands tiny, but very real and inclusive Punk Rock Scene. Perhaps an unlikely mix, but it was just the spark Smegma needed to send it into a creative firestorm and inspired us to get back to our sometimes intense often playful, rock roots. Featuring Selections from our first and second Punk rock Shows 1978 including 2 very different versions of Mutant Baby, jamming the record skips and homemade electronics, writer John Shirley singing a one rehearsal ode to a early local Scenester and the first example of our audience Jam where members of other bands would take over the stage for our last song. Plus a studio outtake (Going Rancid) and our 1979 45rpm Single Flashcards" - Pigface.
