"In 1978, as The Residents' star ascended, Ralph Records excavated the group's 1974 X Is For Xtra tapes and reprocessed them, eager for a new release to satisfy the growing market for product. Whether or not The Residents themselves were involved in this process remains the subject of debate (spoiler: they weren't. Probably), but the end result, Not Available, was, and still is, a masterpiece. Along the way, Ralph produced a shortened, work in progress 'demo' of their efforts to present to The Residents (who ignored it).
