POUR, RIP...NO! - You Can Trust Us
"After a 5 year hiatus, Pour, Rip...No! is back with two new albums. continuing in the vein of the songs Archie Slept" and "The 10,000 Things" most songs consist of errant plinking guitar strings and random plunking percussion and cymbals. Lyrics, ranging from the existential questioning of "Why is the Orangutan so slippery when you trying to speak with him?" to the functional and thrifty "And this barn is cheap, saving our money for the next trip", are more spoken then sung, and like the last album, remain pretty upfront and prominent in the mix. though still are a fare share of both short and long instrumental bits, one a 7 minute work out on a studio drum set and another a 7 minute slow-paced electronic dirge (both these songs end their respective album in a late 90s sort of way). With stylistic and lyrical reference to Captain Beefheart, late Guns and Roses, J.J. Fad and Modest Mouse, intentions seem a bit difficult to place, and Pour,Rip...No!s position in the contemporary loner folk scene seems a bit vague." - Pour, Rip...No!
