PEPE WISMEER - Musi

This is a 1-off pressing of 100 copies only - each numbered (in various places). Musi features 6 tracks selected by the band from their past 11 years that forms a coherent and continuous work. While this is not a Best of..., it does provide an excellent introduction to the band for those not already familiar with them. Pepe Wismeer have a pretty extensive discography with a vinyl LP, CD, a remix LP and numerous CD-Rs to their name. While drawing comparisons with other artists is always difficult - and often misleading - their warm, mature and fluid musical style and melancholic visions may remind some of Coil, Current 93 and others. Their work is structured around piano and voice accompanied by electric/acoustic guitar, 5-string bass, concrete sounds, samples, oud, sitar, metallophone ... and maybe some sheep & birds & water & glass. All music recorded on analogue equipment to add warmth and handcraft to the icy atmospheres. Each copy comes with an 8-page stapled booklet + insert. -Equation
