PAIVANSADE - Tamminauhat / Tulipes

Debut release from new and promising label from the Netherlands. Their choice for their first release must be applauded as Päivänsäde (from Finland) is a group that many people will hear a lot of this year and for good reason. Their avant-folk sounds may bring to mind other groups such as Avarus, Anaksimandros, and / or Kemialliset Ystävät from their native Finland, but they have their own distinct sound. This cdr has been made available in a numbered edition of 150 copies and precedes their upcoming LP on Eclipse (they are also slated to have an LP release on QBICO perhaps later this year) which promises to be something very special. The cd-rs are silkscreened: white with a yellow painted line (this is the ray of daylight, what Päivänsäde stands for) and our logo. The cd-rs come in a plastic sleeve. There is also a fold-out numbered insert w/ a poem in Finnish and a little additional information. The inserts are numbered 1 -Ǭ- 150 in gold. All this is put into a small fold-out box that comes in red & green (two kinds). On the box is an old photograph w/ the same ray of daylight as on the cd-r." - Whistle Along.
