ORPHAN - Decapitated Lovers
"Decapitated Lovers is the second album by Brooklyn sheet metal duo, Orphan. Prominent among the albums nine tracks is a sprawling anthem, Tarantula Downforce," which clocks in at over 8 1/2 minutes, and a cover of "Well Fed Fuck," originally recorded by Born Against. The album features cover art work by Gardar Eide Einarsson, and is limited to 500 numbered copies pressed on clear vinyl.\r\nWhile many bands trade the bratty racket of their debut for a more mature sound on their second effort, Orphan remain willful misfits, having mastered a kind of precise abandon _¢‚Ǩ‚Äù math rock by an idiot savant. Or savants. Orphan is Brendan Majewski on bass guitar and howling,\r\nstrangled vocals, and Speck Brown on relentless, fight-club drums. In 2008, Other Music named Orphans debut _¢‚Ǩ_ìthe most ferocious record of the summer._¢‚Ǩ¬ù Two years later, that damaged intensity continues to drive the cold dark heart of a band called Orphan.\r\nConcurrent with Decapitated Lovers, Black Tent Records has released a split 12-inch with Orphan and Baltimore band, Dope Body. All of Orphans tracks are exclusive to this release, including their cover of Dragnalus, which appeared on the first album by Unwound." - From The Nursery.
