1975 and from the Ur Punk Ground Zero of Basement Land USA emerge Mike Rep & The Quotas. Assimilating all the usual suspects of pre punk rock (Stooges, Velvets , Deviants etc etc) and adding their own rock n roll mantra of no-fi sci-fi fuzz and plucky faith in the riff.\r\nA classic 45 Rocket to Nowhere" results in a vanity pressing of 200(100 with covers, 100 without, "Rocket to Nowhere" was cut on the same machine that cut the Kingsmens version of "Louie Louie" and so the Punk Rock continuum ) and then sinks into teen punk slime till 1979 when BOMP buys a few sleeveless copies off Dave "Moxie" Gibson . Johan Kugelberg and chums give the 45 a date of 1979 based on BOMP listing it at this point but it has been festering away in the vinyl graveyard for a couple of years at that point !!!!\r\nRecorded at the same 1975 session as "Rocket to Nowhere" - "Its My Movie" was thought "lost to the ages" until it was found miss labelled on a reel to reel tape. "Its My Movie" has the riff condensed to its purest essence .... a bludgeon of distorted guitar wails and spastic "funky "chimp drumming drags the song to its inexorable tape splitting finale !!!! Imagine all this and crowd noise sampled from Lou Reeds "RockNRoll Animal" Lp......WHOAH baby its a down right CLASSIC.\r\nFlip this baby over and you get the 1978 Quotas savaging Van The Mans anthem "G-L-O-R-I-A".No cool posing here just the spirit of freaked out over amped savagery is channelled and the Guitar Monster really does appear if you play this under a dead tree at midnight..I kid you not !!!!!!! \r\nAn important pre-punk/punk artifact before anyone knew what the hell lo fi fuzz punk was.....\r\nEdition of 200 (mirroring the original release of "Rocket to Nowhere")....you will Dig This !" - Hard To Beat.
