KENNEY, STEVE - Live Lex
"Hand-numbered edition of 149 copies, debut LP from Isis & Werewolves/Galen/Pterodactyls/Demons alumni Steve Kenney a.k.a. Smoke Dogg. as a founding member of Demons, Steve has become greater recognized over the past few years for his dirty synth and tape delay performance style exclusive to his own. his limited output began with a C30 for Nurse Etiquette in 2009, followed by various collaborations with Chris Pottinger, Heath Moerland (together as Slither), & Andrew Coltrane, + a myriad of limited cassette titles. Live Lex" is his first piece of vinyl, and additionally, "Live Lex" is also one of the least pretty & welcoming synth records I have ever heard. a record that is clearly intended for a dark nite, from what maybe was a dark nite. brings to mind select works of Maurizio Bianchi, Franciso Lopez, & Asmus Tietchens, however this record does not mimic; Steves sound is one of his own. very stark, yet without a limited scope; exceptionally full synth accents through an extremely dense fog clatter; that of the pro-one death sound. Here, listen to Steve find true uncharted darkness within his vices." - Nostilevo.
