"St. Ives is proud to present The Heliocentric Views of John Wilkes Booze, the second album by Bloomington, Indianas John Wilkes Booze. Fettered by the struggle between nature and industry, these eight songs carry the flailing and flourish of hot sticks. All told, this is a battle of pure light vs. the powers that be. And yes, JWB is here to carry on the tales of resistance and hope with vocal chant, saxophone blurt and Farfisa. These songs are ruminants on the ritual flounders of our, forced upon us, wannabe John Wayne. The Heliocentric Views tacks each soliloquy against JWBs wrangled misses and scores of electric guitar rhythm and echo, hand drum symphonies and electronic gashes. This album marks the first time JWB has been back in the studio since completion of their 2003 debut Five Pillars of Soul (Kill Rock Stars). The blasted rock of that opus is melted away here with a deep freedom of form, though the contorted groove structure remains. The Heliocentric Views features members of the Boozes orbit of helping hands: violist Dorey Fox (Mt. Gigantic, Crotch Council), lays down the a isolation-honed pulse of drone across the title piece and the vocal symmetry of Sophia Travis (Vulgar Boatmen) and Gretchen Holtz (The Smears, Lola) backs the plea for intergalactic reality on Weve Got Room In Outer Space." The Heliocentric Views of John Wilkes Booze is a 300 edition LP. The album covers were hand painted, drawn and spayed by the band members. Cover design by vocalist Seth Mahern." - St. Ives.
