FAHLSTROM, OYVIND - Manipulate The World!
Under the motto: Manipulate the world - take care of \r\nthe world, Fahlstrom set up a variety of meeting-places in which \r\nparticipants were invited to take part in an interdisciplinary game \r\nof purposeful discovery. He introduced elements of popular culture \r\ninto his work early on and made substantial contributions to a \r\ncritical assessment of the medialisation of art. In this, the most \r\nextensive book about Oyvind Fahlstrom to date, Teddy Hultberg charts \r\nthe artists predominant lines of creative development and shows how \r\nhis cross-genre endeavors were based on a few central ideas: \r\ncharacter forms, signs, games and life materials. The present study \r\nfocuses on two innovative and extraordinary compositions for radio: \r\nBirds in Sweden (1963) and The Holy Torsten Nilsson (1966). These \r\nworks can be heard on the two accompanying CD records and are also \r\nincluded here in written form. Some unique and hitherto unpublished \r\nvisual and textual material, the result of several years of research \r\nby Teddy Hultberg, is also included in the book. -Fylkingen Records
