BOWLES, PAUL - Ephemera Box
Limited release, 2023. Handmade black box including photographs, postcards, and print-outs of collected correspondence.
"Reading Robert Briatte's biography of Paul Bowles, I discovered that his poems, unlike his novels and stories, had not been translated into German. I set to work, got his address from Pociao, sent Paul Bowles my draft translations, and was invited by him in Tangier, Morocco, in the fall of 1993. In the years that followed, I visited him two or three times a year, not only working on the translation of his poems in exchange with him, but also doing a long interview with him about Gertrude Stein and preparing the edition of his theatre play "The Garden". To this day I think back on these encounters with deep gratitude. Here's some correspondence, postcards and assorted other ephemera." - Florian Vetsch, St. Galen, Switzerland.
"Paul Bowles was an American expatriate composer, author, and translator associated with the Moroccan city of Tangier, where he settled in 1947 and lived for 52 years to the end of his life."
