Title: Docteur Faust
Format: LP
Label: Fauni Gena
Country: Spain
Price: $32.00
"Housed in a fantastic and menacing sci-fi cover courtesy of Druillet and bearing the famous dedication: "A mes grands amis Robert Wyatt et Mick Rattledge", Wakhevitchs second album was a step beyond its predecessor into a music alchemy that defies categorisation and the one that started to define his trademark sonic collage of styles and moods. Like the previous record, this was the music for a Norbert Schmucki ballet "Ergonia", premiered at Festival DAvignon 1971, and featured top french players of the era like Janick Top on bass. Oozing darkness and mistery, Wakhevitch displays a wide array of mind-bending tricks that take the listener to a wild and trippy ride into occult zones starting from the spoken word passages and open drum break of "Aimantation" to the psyched-up delirium of "Sang Poupree". Elsewhere delirious acid passages, hypnotic bass riffing, stoned funk beats, wild free-rock freak outs, avant-garde orchestral drama, dubbed-out passages and Wakhevitch trade-mark collage and sound manipulation make up to a really unique listening experience that submerges and puzzles the unexpecting listener. A psychedelic kaleidoscope full of intense moods, from stoned to thrilling drama, from medidative and mystical ritual trance to way out tape and synth manipulation that in spite of all contrast, holds together well - not unlike the similar collaged, contrasting and now much revered opus "LEnfant Assasin Des Mouches" by Jean Claude Vannier or some of Fausts work. Originally released by Pathe Marconi in 1972, it has become over the years Wakhevitchs hardest to find album and one thats been chased also because of his striking cover-art, made by no-other than Jean-Pierre Druillet, one of the top exponents of french 70s sci-fi comics school together with the great Jean Henri Gaston (better known as Moebius) which revolved around the seminal Metal Hurlant magazine. LP in gatefold cover + insert. " - Fauni Gena.

Title: Hathor
Format: LP
Label: Fauni Gena
Country: Spain
Price: $32.00
"Subtitled "Liturgie du souffle pour la résurrection des morts", this is probably Wakhevitchs most esoteric and occult-influenced work. Some sort of dark ritual for synthesizer and orchestra inspired by Kabbalistic writings where Igors trademark bottom heavy electronics pulse, wizz and sweep to a backdrop of heavy tribal drumming. Elsewhere, menacing and majestic spoken word passages open us the doors to the netherworld, leading you into an esoteric sound ritual that sounds spooky, virulent, powerful, droning, entrancing and mystical at the same time. Again Wakhevitch brings together disparate elements, bridging apparently unrelated musical forms and integrate them in order to deliver another unique work that sounds strangely prescient and recalling at the same time works from Mort Garson (Black Mass), Ruth White (Flowers Of Evil), Terry Riley (Surgery Persian Dervishes), Stockhausen (Stimmung), Tangerine Dream (Zeit) or early Klaus Schulze (Irrlicht). LP in gatefold cover + insert." - Fauni Gena.

Title: Les Fous Dor
Format: LP
Label: Fauni Gena
Country: Spain
Price: $32.00
"Released by Pathe Marconi in 1975 and housed in a fantastic surrealist cover designed by his father, russian painter/art director Georges Wakhevitch, this album marks the debut of Wakhevitchs long-standing collaboration with american dancer/choreographer Carolyn Carlson. It also shows the composers progression into a more esoteric and lyrical grounds: a departure from the violence of his first three albums into quieter yet equally dark and mysterious regions. Divided in two sides (called "CORNERSTONE"/"LES FOUS DOR") the whole record oozes a dreamy, mysterious, surrealist atmosphere enhaced by the spoken word introductions that open a series of mesmerising electronic pieces which range from the gentle to the hypnotic. Animal sounds, ritual horns, wordless vocals and assorted metal banging and scrapping add to the whole mix for a landmark sound that will evolve in future albums. Six different pieces that take off where Hathors Aurore left before moving into a crazy and d isjointed landscape that echoes the crazyness of Docteur Faust yet in a subtle, stranger, more warped way. STRICTLY LIMITED TO 500 COPIES IN TRANSPARENT CLEAR VINYL - SINGLE COVER REPRODUCING THE ORIGINAL 1975 ARTWORK - INCLUDES INSERT WITH LINER NOTES PLUS REPRODUCTION OF THE ORIGINAL "LES FOUS DOR" INSERT. "An unclassifiable talent, Igor WakhEvitch could be seen as an explorer like Franco Battiato, a pioneer who proliferated in the 70s with a series of highly original and unusual albums." - Alan Freeman, Audion Magazine. "Originally released in 1979, Wakhevitchs last album before definitely settling down in Auroville (India) was his most meditative and relaxed effort to date. Fruit of his 1978  stay in Israel invited by the "Mishkenot Shaananim" Foundation,  the album was again completely dominated by the composers keyboards  - hypnotic, majestic, enchanting and delicate: from the sweeping synths and fractured vocal loops of the title track to the fragility of Taddys Fruit  Garden, the lyrical spaciness of Eriador or the otherwordly impressionism of Taddys Dream : Ramallahs Road.  A masterful closing statement by this french master and a must for anyone into meditative keyboard music in the vein of Terry Riley, Deuter, JD Emmanuel or Peter Michael Hamel, to name a few. STRICTLY LIMITED TO 500 COPIES - SINGLE COVER REPRODUCING THE ORIGINAL 1979  ARTWORK - INCLUDES INSERT WITH LINER NOTES." - Fauni Gena.

"Subtitled "Rituel Sonore pour Group Pop (Triangle), Choeur mixte et Bande Magnetique" and originally recorded as music from a N.Schmucki ballet premiered at Festival dAvignon 1970, this is the perfect introduction to Wakhevitch dark, powerful and often menacing sound world. An unlikely mixture of 20th century classical avant-garde, both orchestral and electronic and psychedelic rock courtesy of french psych-prog band Triangle. A strong piece which pairs epic choral parts with Wakhevitchs taped electronics and Triangles hypnotic jamming to form, in typical Wakevitch occult fashion, an ode to mans relationship with sound forces with the composer acting as a medium between the magical forces of sound and listener. The text inside the wonderul red gatefold cover holds some keys to the composers universe, mentions to early 20th russian mystic / thinker Georges Ivanovitch Gurdjieff and also Kabbalistic and Alchemistic traditions are coupled by Wakhevitchs vision of a cosmic art for the 20th century, aligning himself to similar efforts by William Sheller and Guy Skornik. No surprise since this record sits comfortably next to other period pieces like Shellers "Lux Aeterna", Skorniks "Popera Cosmic", Jason Havelocks "Pop Symphony" or even vangelis Papathanassious "Fais Que Ton Reve Soit Plus Longue Que La Nuit". Typical french post-mai 69 orchestral avant-pop vibes galore !!!! LP in gatefold cover + insert. Limited to 500 copies. Often regarded as one of the unsung geniuses of 20th century, Wakhevitchs music has puzzled and surprised listeners and critics alike since it first came out in the early 70s. His six albums, released between 1970 and 1979 contain some of the darkest and more powerful music ever commited to vinyl and have been revered and praised by inquisitive souls everywhere: from progressive rock fans and avant-garde lovers to, in more recent times, noise kids, beat diggers and modern-day bloggers alike. His is music that defies categorisation as it draws and takes elements for many disparate styles: from psych rock to 20th century classical avantgarde. Throw in some weird cut-up techniques, a penchant for sound / space manipulation and real way-out electronics and you get some of the elements that appear in this composers cookbook. No wonder his name turns up on the famed NWW list, as Steve Stapleton sometimes travels similar music mind-roads as the visionary frenchman. Born in 1948 in a small town near Cannes, son of famed russian scenographer and painter Georges Wakhevitch, Igor grew up in an artistic environment and recalls being both exposed to the russian diaspora that settled in France after the October Revolution and the artistic circle to which his father belonged who included such names as Jean Cocteau or Herbert Von Karajan. Attracted to music since very early, he studied and devoted countless hours to become a piano concertist. As teen years arrived, young Igor decided to take his own road and become a composer - he went thru all the academic degrees, becoming pupil of one of the greatest composers of the century: Olivier Messiaen. Because of his family connections, young Wakhevitch soon found himself scoring music for theather and ballet - this allowed him to present a highly personal music that often dealt with mystical and praenatural subjects (no wonder taking into account he had been in contact since an early age with traditions such as jewish Kabbala, Alchemy and Christian Orthodox mysticism). Most, if not all of his recorded output, comes from this association with the stage world - specially with american dancer and choreographer Carolyn Carson (who did work with a number of underground luminaries from the european experimental and free scenes). A chance meeting (but not on a dissecting table) in the parisian offices of Mr. Filipacchi (head of Atlantic/WEA) led to Wakhevitch being the choosen musician to score Etre Dieu - Salvador Dalis unique and unstageable opera (as it stars, amongst others, Marilyn Monroe as a stripper, Brigitte Bardot as an artichoque and Dali himself as "The Divine Dali")  in which the genius from Cadaques rants about life, death and general nonsense over Wakhevitchs ever changing sonic tapestries. Fascinated with India since a child, he started travelling to this country in the early 70s finally settling down there later that decade in Shri Aurobindos and Mirra Alfassas Auroville and travelling regularly to Europe promoting indian classical artists with his company. In the meantime, his old records have become collectable items that command high prices in the second hand market. The reissue of his six albums on a now long-unavailable cd boxset entitled "Donc..." further fuelled interest in his music so this reissue program should fill the gap in all those collections needing Wakhevitchs music. Released it as it should be enjoyed, in proper glorious analog sound. Directly licensed from Igor Wakhevicth himself, this reissues come approved and supervised by the composer who has always taken great care on how his music is presented to the people. This should open the doors to a future release of a series of unreleased works that certainly deserve to see the light." - Fauni Gena.

Title: Nagual
Format: LP
Label: Fauni Gena
Country: Spain
Price: $32.00
"Originally released in 1977, this was (once again) a product of the fruitful association between Wakhevitch and american dancer/choreographer Carolyn Carlson. Compiling some of the pieces specially written for Carlsons "This, that and the other" (created for the Groupe de recherche ThEâtrale de lOpEra de Paris), the album follows the otherwordly steps of its predecessor ("Les Fous Dor") in a more calm, relaxed, almost nocturnal way.  Inspired by Carlos Castanedas writings, Nagual is another mysterious and intriguing statement of musical esoterica:  a collection of twelve musical vignettes covering a whole range of styles, from majestic electronic pieces to echo-drenched concrete-like sketches via impressionistic piano compositions. A bewitching  musical journey, built around  Wakhevitchs keys where electronics give way to more acoustic sonorities (piano, harp) for a highly-charged magical sound. A very special record !!! STRICTLY LIMITED TO 500 COPIES - SINGLE COVER REPRODUCING THE ORIGINAL 1977 ARTWORK - INCLUDES INSERT WITH LINER NOTES PLUS REPRODUCTION OF THE ORIGINAL NAGUAL INSERT." - Fauni Gena.
