Title: Switch Hitter
Format: 10"
Label: Broken Flag
Country: UK
Price: $13.00
"Black Rose Recordings and Broken Flag are proud to present the new 10" single by the legendary group Ramleh. Limited to 500 with black and white artwork this is their first new material since 1998 and it doesnt disappoint. Powerful droning intensity, motorik rhythms and warped guitar riffs dominate these two songs with one containing Ramlehs distinctive distorted vocals weaving in and out of this inventive chemistry. Switch Hitter could almost be described as a full on dissonant rock track, but Ramlehs desire for experimentation and improvisation lifts it way above the general rock mindset. Ramleh have been active since the early 1980s, first as one of the UKs pioneering power electronics groups and then towards the late 80s they, along with Skullflower, laid the foundations for the UKs improvisional noise rock scene. In fact Gary Mundy from Ramleh was also one of the founding members of Skullflower (there was an overlapping membership of both bands, yet Ramleh always managed to retain their own unique identity regardless of musical genre). They returned to the live scene last year with well received shows in London (one with Whitehouse the other with Merzbow), and New York, whilst a new album release and planned re-issues from their back catalogue are due late 2009 proving they have not lost any of their energy, excitement and ability to explore all possibilities." - Black Rose.

Title: Circular Time
Format: Double CD
Label: Crucial Blast
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"Its been nearly 20 years since the last full-length album from Ramleh operating in rock mode, but the sprawling new double album Circular Time sees these British noise rock legends deliver their most intense work since re-emerging from extended hiatus. One of the key bands to emerge from the British post-industrial underground of the early 1980s alongside their Broken Flag labelmates Skullflower, Ramleh continually shifted between the extreme, confrontational power electronics of their early material and their later forays into searing, lysergic noise rock, right up until they went inactive in the late 1990s. The group re-emerged later the following decade with a number of reissues and new releases, but up until now, nearly all of the new material indulged their harsh noise tendencies. With this massive new album, these distortion masters (now comprising founding member Gary Mundy, longtime member Anthony Di Franco and new drummer Martyn Watts) return with nearly two hours of speaker-shredding, void-gazing psychedelia, pushing the pummeling, Hawkwindian meltdowns heard on classic 90s-era albums like Be Careful What You Wish For and Shooters Hill into realms of total obliteration. Forged from a simple but savage combination of pummeling drumming, monstrously overloaded synthesizers and elliptical, sludge-encrusted bass riffs that anchor the squalls of brutal, electrified guitar noise, Ramlehs sound is hypnotically crushing. Heavy, zoned-out drone-rock grooves are unleashed amid gales of sky-scorching guitar noise, with epic psych-shred workouts stretched out across storms of nebular effects. Distant vocals howl beneath sheets of shimmering guitar, and streaks of twisted, mutant dub materialize within some of the albums catchier moments. Its dark, often brutal music, but also shot through with moments of sweeping, apocalyptic beauty, building to the powerful back-to-back finale of Weird Tyranny and Never Returner that are as utterly blasted and majestic as anything heard from Ramleh in the bands thirty-some-year existence." - Crucial Blast.

Title: Hole in the Heart
Format: Double CD
Label: Dirter Promotions
Country: UK
Price: $22.00
"Originally issued by Gary Mundys own Broken Flag label in 1987 on cassette, this is UK noise/industrial/power electronics wizards Ramlehs Hole In The Heart, now expanded and remastered on a double CD set, also including material from their 1987 Nerve cassette release. Here at last, is part of the "missing link" in the long and ever-evolving history of Ramleh. This material bridges the gap between the (for want of a better description) early "power electronics" material and the (for want of a better description) later "noise rock." Neither of these terms do justice to this pioneering group led by Gary Mundy. To quote Anthony Di Franco (the other half of the band these days): "...swirling phased feedback, fuzzed vocals and guitars. At the same time there were melodies, words and structures in the music, which itself consisted of very simple electronic and acoustic elements magnified to a colossal scale...." This music has a harmonic beauty, if you look for it, that all its imitators lack. Listen and you will hear the genesis of what was to follow from many 90s underground bands such as label mates and close collaborators, Skullflower. This double CD set is packaged in the classic Broken Flag stark, monochrome style." - Dirter Promotions.

Title: Too Many Miles: Complete Singles 90-95
Format: CD
Label: Dirter Promotions
Country: UK
Price: $18.00
"This is the CD collection of all the long-unavailable Ramleh singles spanning the years 1990-1995, now reissued due to Ramlehs sprawling 6-page feature in The Wire (issue #305, July 2009). Ramlehs history goes back to the early 80s, when their brand of "power electronics" caused outrage, along with their contemporaries Whitehouse. Much has changed since then, and over the years, they developed a reputation as one of the leading exponents of UK "noise rock." Along with the likes of Skullflower, Splintered, etc., they made the genre their own, to much acclaim from not only the UK, but Europe and America as well. In fact, many of the singles compiled on this disc were U.S.-only releases by such labels as Sympathy For The Record Industry. The CD is packaged in the same style as many of the singles were, featuring artwork culled from former member Philip Bests personal collection. They continue to have a loyal fan base, and still perform (the current line-up is comprised of founding member Gary Mundy, bassist Anthony di Franco, drummer Martyn Watts), and a collection such as this will never not be in-demand. The songs on this compendium will cement Ramlehs reputation as geniuses in your memory, as they pretty much summoned, prefaced and heralded every crushing, free-form, feedback-worshipping, extreme noise/avant-rock moment that was to follow them." - Dirter Promotions.
