Artist: NAKED ON THE VAGUE
Title: Blood Pressure Sessions
Format: CD
Label: Dual Plover
Country: Australia
Price: $14.00
"LUCY CLICHE and MATTHEW P. HOPKINS dive deep into a world of apocalyptic pop and psychedelic weirdness with disparate vocals that grip onto menacingly hook-laden basslines and stabbing keys, pushed by an unrelenting drum machine far past the end of its warranty period. Expanding on the final moments of no-wave and what that imploded scene might have become, this nine-track punk assault ranges from almost danceable, short-and-sharp hits to gloomy, extended freak-outs. Life never looked so bleak. -Dual Plover "Distilled nihilism." -Drop Dead Magazine.

Title: Mickey Mouse Headache Tape
Format: Cass
Label: Near Tapes
Country: Australia
Price: $6.00
"Tape 2 is a live collage by apocalyptic pop duo Naked on the Vague. Mostly bits and pieces of live recordings made whilst on their recent 3 month mega tour of the good ol USA March-June 2008. It also features some sections from a show recorded in Canberra Australia sometime mid 2007. C-30 cassette, 2 long tracks, meshed scary music more on the industrial/psych side of the NOTV brain, perfect for goth art students films, and late night drives through the bush." -Near

Title: Chitty Chat
Format: 7"
Label: Sacred Bones
Country: USA
Price: $5.50
"Australias Naked on the Vague return for another two-sider of serious harsh downer vibes. Drum, synth, bass and vocal ferocity from this male/female duo that comes out sounding like a surprisingly more danceable version of Whitehouse. Fans of last years Skulltones 7" and Siltbreeze full-length wont be disappointed. The band will be touring the US with Blank Dogs and will appear at this years Sacred Bones showcase at SXSW." - Sacred Bones.

Title: Twelve Dark Noons
Format: LP
Label: Sacred Bones
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"Having expanded from the no-wave two piece of LUCY CLICHE and MATTHEW HOPKINS to a fully fleshed out four-piece including drummer LACHLAN VERCOE and abassist NIC DE JONG, our favorite Australian outcasts return with a stunning EP as their follow-up to last years full length on Siltbreeze. This EP is a bit lighter in mood and delivery; in the words of the bands own Hopkins its a bit like, Dracula fronting the B-52s. While this is certainly Hopkins taking the piss, opening track, The Gift is a perfectly modern homage to past dark lords such as Bauhaus and Christian Death. Twelve Dark Noons serves as a companion piece to the short experimental film of the same name directed by JACQUELINE CASTEL and produced by CALEB BRAATEN of Sacred Bones and Night People Records. The film has had several premiers worldwide including SXSW and ZedeBois Gallery in Lisbon, it stars the bands core duo Lucy & Matthew in a horrific mental unraveling set in the Australian outback. NOTV have already toured the US and EU extensively playing shows with Blank Dogs, Wolf Eyes, Times New Viking, Om, Jandek and Thee Oh Sees amongst others. They are set to embark on a US tour supporting this release with Zola Jesus in mid-April." -Sacred Bones

Title: Blood Pressure Sessions
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $14.00
"LUCY PHELAN and M.P. HOPKINS hail from Sydney, Australia. Behind a basic framework of keyboard, bass, and vocals (and all manner of tinkered-with percussion) NAKED ON THE VAGUEs distinct aggregate of sound calls to mind everything from SPK to Mars and beyond. Or, as theyre fond of calling them in Philly, "the Death Star version of Times New Viking." Originally released in 2007 on CD by the fearless Australian Dual Plover label, The Blood Pressure Sessions ventures into a darker realm than their debut 7-inch (also on Dual Plover) had erroneously suggested. Propelled by the sharp, rhythmic snare drum beat and anchored by thunderous, fuzzed bass-lines and stinging, swinging organ and synth fills, Phelan and Hopkins take turns rounding out the vocal duties, giving the whole of their sound a sonorous curtain of ecstatic foreboding. Betraying a gallows wit, the band refers to their music as "apocalyptic pop," which could be construed as both drowning and waving. Appearing at SXSW, US tour in the spring of 2008." - Siltbreeze.

Title: Heaps of Nothing
Format: CD
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"For this second full-length effort, NAKED ON THE VAGUE eschew their tantalizingly sparse duo attack for a quartet line-up, and the results are as sensational as they are sinister. While the rickety, no-wave splat found on previous efforts had its appeal, the heft of a "proper" rhythm section has only helped Naked on the Vague delve deeper into the landscape of post-punk murk. Bleak, unrepentant, withering and droll, Heaps of Nothing is a 21st century codification of the gallows wit and mesmerizing otherworldliness of (Dub Housing-era) Pere Ubu, Primitive Calculators and Lemon Kittens. Shuttling mutant urbanity from past to present, Naked on the Vague is only too eager to confirm that the Earth isnt flat. Because Heaps of Nothing is here to flatten it. Upcoming Australian and American tours planned, with European dates in the works. LP version to follow." - Siltbreeze.
