Artist: GRAHAM, DAVY
Title: Folk, Blues, & Beyond...
Format: LP
Label: Bread and Wine
Country: USA
Price: $20.00
"One of the most influential figures in the 1960s British folk scene, Davy Graham inspired many practitioners of the fingerstyle acoustic guitar of the era, notably Bert Jansch, John Martyn and Jimmy Page. Graham is probably best known for his acoustic instrumental Anji and for popularizing DADGAD tuning, later widely adopted by many acoustic guitarists. Not one to be categorised, Graham could be seen covering the genres of folk, blues and jazz. Graham was an entirely British phenomenon in the sixties, none of his early records were originally issued in the U.S. Originally released in January 1965, this edition of Folk, Blues and Beyond is its official, American debut. It remains perfectly named, a stunning introduction to the breadth of Grahams craft and seeking at the peak of his impact." - Bread and Wine.

Title: Large as Life and Twice as Natural
Format: LP
Label: Bread and Wine
Country: USA
Price: $20.00
"Large as Life and Twice As Natural is unique in Grahams work for Decca. The albums three extended instrumentals two immersive ragas and a wickedly knotty homage to the be-bop piano titan Lennie Tristano were the most Graham wrote for any of his Sixties LPs. And Graham never played with a better, bigger studio band. Jon Hiseman, recently out of John Mayalls Bluesbreakers, was leading his own progressive-rock unit Colosseum; Danny Thompson was the earthy, incisive bassist in Britains folk supergroup, Pentangle, with guitarists and Graham acolytes Bert Jansch and John Renbourn. Large as Life and Twice as Natural was Grahams only album from his most important decade to be released in the U.S., at the time it went unnoticed." - Bread and Wine.

Title: Folk Blues & Beyond
Format: CD
Label: Fledgling
Country: UK
Price: $16.00
Folk, Blues & Beyond was first released on Decca Records in 1965, and is one of the most important recordings from the 1960s folk revival. "UK guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and serviceable-to-perfunctory vocalist. A seminal guitar influence, setting standards for succeeding generations. Graham was the first guitarist to emerge from Britain whose work combined stylistic elements from Julian Bream, Big Bill Broonzy, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Ali Akbar Khan, Leadbelly, Joe Pass, Segovia and others too numerous to name. John Martyn described him as his absolute hero in a Guitar Player interview 75. Of Scottish and Guyanese parents, he came to personify musical adventure, his adoption of non-standard guitar tunings, most notably D-A- D-G-A-D, arguably his most important legacy. His uniqueness became, directly or indirectly, a model for Martin Carthy, Bert Jansch, Wizz Jones and later musicians as diverse as Martin Simpson and J]aso[rgen W. Lang." -- Music Web Encyclopedia " Covers of traditional folk standards like "Black Is the Colour of My True Loves Hair" and "Seven Gypsies" combine with interpretations of compositions by Bob Dylan ("Dont Think Twice, Its Alright"), Willie Dixon ("My Babe"), Charles Mingus ("Better Git in Your Soul"), and Reverend Gary Davis ("Cocaine") for an eclecticism of repertoire that wasnt matched by many musicians of any sort in the mid-60s. --Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide. "This release has been carefully remastered, with restored original artwork in the slipcased edition. Also added are five very rare bonus tracks, new sleeve-notes and previously unpublished photographs." - FE.

"Fledgling Records are very proud to announce the release of this classic album on CD. First released in 1968, Large As Life And Twice As Natural is a tremendous acoustic-folk-blues-jazz masterpiece.
