"Includes an exclusive soundwork from Phill Niblock entitled Ghosts and Others. The material on the CD is a very different work that Phill created for an installation at MJ Scumachers Studio Five Beekman series in March of 1998. Because this material is much more of an audio collage/field recording than Phills typical composed droneworks he never felt comfortable for it to be released as a regular document. This is the first formal, and only, release of the document. It is a full length CD. (Topography) includes essays by sound theorists Douglas Kahn (Noise Water Meat) and Steven Connor (Dumbstruck), lengthy interviews with minimalist luminary Phill Niblock and Biennial darling Julianne Swartz, articles by composers Marc Behrens, Eric LaCasa and Jean-Luc Guionnet, an historical essay by Eliot Weinberger and poetic works by William Fox, Charles Stein and Rachel Daley, among many other things. FO A RM is an interdisciplinary journal of arts and research, published once yearly. We encourage cross-genre methods and investigative projects, with a focus on sound-art, experimental poetics and social sculpture. Each issue clusters around a given topic, gathering together a variety of perspectives, methods and articulations, from the extravagant to the pedestrian."
