"After the album Total Erasement (SR 366LP, 2014), that includes the more "professional" studio recordings of Digital Dance, Digital Dance 002 is the re-release of their last cassette tape, originally released in 1981, reflecting another side of their work and the beginnings of what was to come. Stéphan Barbery of Digital Dance on the release: As the first single of Digital Dance, "Radioactivity/Computer Rock" (1979), was far from convincing for us, we created our own label, Digital Records, and released our second single, "I Sleep On The Waves/Faulty" (1979), Digital 001, in 1979. Afterwards, we released a cassette tape, the Digital Tape 002, which reflected another side of our work: not only songs but more experimental music, a work based on improvisation up to change parts of the musicians (e.g., guitarist on the drums and vice versa, reviving the very beginnings of the band). The recording was done then with very little, a cassette recorder in the middle of the rehearsal room. This record, Digital Dance 002, contains the entire Digital Tape 002 cassette, as recorded and compiled by Jerry WX in 1980. The sound was remodeled and mastered in 2017." - Sub Rosa.

“Life and death of a Belgian cult band Digital Dance comin directly from the Brussels punk scene. Prior to forming Digital Dance in Brussels, in the summer of 1978, Jerry WX (voice and guitar) and Stephan Barbery (guitar) were closely involved in the local punk scene. Jerry WX played with Chainsaw, the very first Brussels punk band in 1976, and a year later with X-Pulsion. Stephan Barbery played with Thrills from 1977 to 1978. During this period, X-Pulsion, Thrills, and a third band called Streets played many gigs together, often swapping instruments and members. (See Sub Rosas recent Punk in Brussels 1977-1979 compilation). Despite their difficult reputation and lack of commercial success, Digital Dance built up a cult following, even having the support of John Peel in the UK. Between 1979 and 1981, Digital Dance released three singles and performed several notable live concerts as an opening act for Magazine and Siouxsie And The Banshees. The various members subsequently played in groups as diverse as Fad Gadget, Marine, The Revenge, Kid Montana, Noh Mask, The Names, Snowy Red, The Weathermen, etc. Digital Dance performed their last live show in 1981. There was no definite end of the band but they didnt play together between 1982 and 1998. Sadly, Jerry died in 2000. Last, but not least, the punk years in Brussels generated many fanzines. Digital Dance also published Digital Magazine. This LP includes the very last and unreleased issue of Digital Magazine. Pressed on limited marbled black and silver vinyl. Includes an insert.” - Sub Rosa.
