Artist: OATH Title: s/t Format: CDR Label: Oath Country: USA Price: $12.00 |
|
"Amazing debut solo release from the most under-recorded member of Wooden Wand and the Vanishing Voice. Satya Sais Oath project couldn?t be further removed from the psych folk boogie / blues of her husband Wooden Wand or the deliriously red-eyed improv of the extended Vanishing Voice or even her work with her heavy psych band Totem. Satyas solo work leaves folk music behind entirely - think Let The Power Fall-era Fripp, Mort Garsons Black Mass, Adelbert Von Deyens Planetary Best, Bobby Beausoleils Lucifer Rising soundtrack, Louise Huebners instructional LPs, and even occasionally some of Burzums weirdo experiments in MIDI. The bulk of Oaths self-titled CD is heavy, creepy synth exercises with Satyas trademark vocals, with occult lyrics echoing and overlapping into a nightmarish song cycle, complete with a curveball instrumental cover of the Daddy Cool / Spectrum prog classic Make Your Stash, with guest Wooden Wand on bass. Limited to 100 copies, and a teaser for Satyas eventual full length LP on Yik Yak. Certainly with this release, Satya proves herself to be the best kept secret of this far-reaching tribe. 100 copies."

Artist: BRIGMAN, GEORGE Title: Jungle Rot Format: LP Label: Obscure Oxide Country: USA Price: $22.00 |
| "Underground 1975 proto-punk/blues legend, ultra-faithfully reissued for everyone again. Lifelong Baltimore resident George Brigmans debut LP was quite an achievement for a teenager: self-financed and mostly self-recorded, influenced by UK blues-rockers The Groundhogs but filtered through a US inner-city outlook (and budget). Unfortunately, none of this mattered, as the record had botched distribution and so remained more heard about than actually heard, save for a few scattershot pirate represses. 30 years after the original LP release, legitimate reissues were made available on other labels, all of which are now out of print. Obscure Oxide is proud to announce this new LP edition, utilizing the same John Golden transfers, from the original masters, as used for the previous Anopheles LP reissue (why re-invent the wheel?), plus a full-color insert with freshened-up liners and all five (!) snapshots from the original sessions. Black vinyl with repros of original labels and sleeve." -Obscure Oxide. |

Artist: TARGAL, JEM Title: Luckey Guy Format: CD Label: Obscure Oxide Country: USA Price: $18.00 |
| "A Turkish Leprechaun by birth, with a childhood fully immersed in music and art, Jem Targal first made his mark as vocalist/bassist/main songwriter for Detroit power-trio legends THIRD POWER (their lone Vanguard album from 1969 still rightfully well-regarded today). After the band split in 1972, a despondent Jem took up home recording, laying down hours of tape on a Teac 4-track machine. Jem selected the best cuts from these solo sessions in 1978 and released ??Luckey Guy???pasting the gatefold covers and handling all sales himself in true DIY fashion. The album never stays still with one style for too long, but rather drifts along with spaced-out guitar (Bumble Bee Drive), tortured, dissonant piano (Ring Out The Bells), culminating in a sparse, apocalyptic tale (The Bomb Tune), with bits of childlike whimsy and Jems eerie harmonies woven throughout, not to mention a few musical touches that indicate its mid-1970s vintage. Were we to shamelessly namedrop, we might mention Syd Barrett, Skip Spence, Brian Wilson and Gary Wilson as starting points... But were above that, for its the first ever appearance on compact disc of this odd and eclectic bit of loner folk/psych. The label tracked down the master-tapes, miraculously still in storage at the original pressing plant, and created a mini-LP sleeve replica of the original album jacket, that includes an insert booklet with liner notes and newly-transcribed lyrics handwritten by Jem himself. Audio digitally transferred, with no added compression or equalisation, from the 1/4" analogue two-track master reels.? - Obscure Oxide. |

Artist: PENDERECKI, KRZYSZTOF Title: The Manuscript Found in Saragossa Format: LP Label: Obuh Country: Poland Price: $36.00 |
|
"The score for Wojciech Jerzy Hass motion picture The Manuscript Found in Saragossa was composed in 1963 by Krzysztof Penderecki, who back then was an avant-garde artist of the tumultuous spirit in search of his own musical voice. It acquired its final shape in Warsaws Polish Radio Experimental Studio, then at its visionary best under the directorate of Josef Patkowski. The music for The Manuscript Found in Saragossa is a mind-bending mixture of uncontrollable electro-acoustics, sweeping and yet light baroque stylizations, daemonic soundings and grotesque illustrations. Released separately from the movie for the first time, after close to half of a century the score has lost none of its original magic. Quite the opposite -- drawing its vital energy from literary and cinematic phantoms, it appears to exert some sort of a demiurgic influence upon the listeners imagination, which suddenly becomes awakened to the memories of previously unrealized images, experiences and emotions. The manuscript found in Saragossa seems to have no end... and so, paraphrasing the pious monk, I license myself to call out to all travelers of imagination: Pasheko! Pasheko! In the Name of Our Lord I command you to listen and dream!" - Obuh. Taken from original masters and released for the first time. Limited to 500 numbered copies in a gatefold, solid sleeve. Never to be repressed on LP or CD.

Artist: MINMAE Title: My First Brush With Infinity Format: 7" Label: Octane Grammophon Country: Finland Price: $5.00 |
| "My First Brush With Infinity is Minmaes latest 7" on the Finland based Octane Grammophon label and includes some of the best Minmae stuff Ive heard yet. "Were All Friends Here" has pulsating keyboard lines, almost jazz styled drumming, and slowly winding power guitars that remind me of the Finnish band Circle, and makes for a floating but heavy rocking psychedelic ride. Great stuff. I hope this gives us a hint as to what the next Minmae full length will sound like because this is excellent stuff." -Jerry Kranitz, Aural Innovations 2003. |

Artist: NIMBUS 2000 Title: Kettle of Fish Walking: Complete Recordings 1999-2003 Format: CD Label: Octane Grammophon Country: Finland Price: $8.00 |
| "Nimbus 2000 is another of Daf Roberts (Alphane Moon, Our Glassie Azoth, Blodeuedd) projects and again his musical offerings give us something that is really worthy of investigation. "Kettle of fish walking - compete recordings 1999-2003" contains every Nimbus 2000 track Daf Roberts has recorded and released on his own Oggum label. Some of these recordings originally came out on a series of split 7" eps. Further Nimbus 2000 tracks were released (two to be precise) on a charity compilation CD Oggum released featuring Magic Carpathians, Electroscope and Flying Saucer Attack, to name a few. "Kettle of Fish Walking" includes all of these tracks with two brand new songs exclusive to this compilation. And the music...? Deep-space exlporing. picture yourself voyaging somewhere between a time and an unknown. from somewhere you hear a softly spoken voice reading childrens fairytales. All this is realised within a totally rich, colorful, unique and warm soundscape which recalls the sound of 70s german synth-wizards Schulze and Tangerine Dream. Magical. Have a flow and go. Note that this is a MiniCD of 20 minutes." - Octane Grammophon. |

Artist: PLAT YPUS Title: Introduzione Parts 1 & 3 Format: 7" Label: Octane Grammophon Country: Finland Price: $8.00 |
| "Plat Ypus have been enjoying a cult status in Finnish underground music for a couple of years. With this long-delayed 7" single, they let themselves go loose once again. And the result is, as usual, an astonishing mixture of twisted electronics and krautrock-like free-form jamming. Might be challenging to listen to, but once you get the idea, youll be rewarded. The single is housed in a folded satanic black and white sleeve, and the disc have no labels - think of self-released 7" black metal singles from the 80s. Grab a copy before its too late - limited to 100 copies worldwide." - Octane Grammophon. "Superb out there electro/percussion free-ride from a new to me Finnish duo. Its dense & loose; the electronics circle & dive while the drumming keeps a cockeyed yet steady time sorta like what you imagine No Pussyfooting mightve sounded like if a tipsy Jaki Liebezeit had invaded the sessions. Supposedly only a 100 of these worldwide. If theys got anything else available, my door is open." - Siltblog. |

Most of the songs were written "especially for" this project. Don Howland (Gibson Bros, Bassholes), Jim Shepard (Vertical Slit, V3), Ron House (Great Plains, Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments), Tommy Jay (Mike Rep and The Quotas, (Ohio)True Believers) and Mike Hummel (Mike Rep and The Quotas, "basement producer" extraordinaire) have been friends and supporters of each others music since the late seventies. It was generally agreed that some documentation to that fellowship should be recorded before the participants doddered off into "Old Age". This album _is_ that testimony. Although a good time was had, this album is not "good timey". These thirteen songs reflect the blues, folk, and punk roots heritage of all involved. Artist: V/A Title: Manifesto Rumorarmonico Post Futurista Format: Double LP Label: Old Europa Cafe Country: Italy Price: $45.00 |
| "Vinyl compilation devoted to Luigi Russolo the father of Futurist music and the first man to theorize that music has to be composed mainly by rumors and not by harmonic sounds! His music was played with an instrument lIntonarumori or Rumorarmonio which was invented by himself. Russolo is the forefather and theorizer of the electronic music concept and for sure we can say today that he was the first man playing industrial music. For this project, we found four artists known for being neo-Futurists and uncompromising industrial artists. GX Jupitter-Larsen from the USA is known for being the mind behind The Haters and for all his very futurist performances where a click becomes the main sound. Merzbow from Japan is the father of Japanese noise. This is the sound Russolo would be playing if he were alive today. With his first project Zoviet France, Robin Storey, aka Rapoon, was one of the very first artists using toy instruments. Sacher Pelz from Italy was the very first project by Maurizio Bianchi, also known as MB. He was one of the very first artists using electronic noise. Each artist gives his contribution to this tribute playing long tracks on a full LP side. White vinyl. Discs are packed in a hand-numbered limited edition of 765 copies -- a folding cover shows Luigi Russolo and his Rumorarmonio." - Old Europa Cafe |

Artist: V/A Title: Songs from 20th Century Homes Format: LP Label: Old Gold Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
|
"Back when Old Gold was all about cassette tapes, we got a curious package in the mail from Winnipeg. In it was a letter from Michael Dumontier extolling the virtues of our Howard Finster cassette release, some highly amusing collaborative drawings, and a "Tape for Old Gold" crafted with unique handmade slipcase/booklet. That began an ongoing correspondence/swap of art and music with numerous Canadians within and around the soon-to-be-famous Royal Art Lodge collective, all tied together by Dumontier. As our enthusiasm for their efforts grew, we revisited the first tape in 2000, and this time it sounded like a record. Michael tracked down what musicians he could, made a few changes, and the result is Songs from 20th Century Homes, an LP with hand-screened cover released in an edition of just over 200, with songs by Eyeball Hurt and the Medicine, Drue and Myles Langlois, Albatross, DJ EZ Pot Roast, and two tracks from the always mind-melting Untanned Hide of a Young Cow (whose 10" on Old Gold is sold out, sorry), and snippets of artwork by Dumontier, Marcel Dzama, and Neil Farber. All in all, a brilliant glimpse into an odd world inhabited by people who must stay inside the majority of the year. Intimate, powerful performances and tomfoolery sure to be the life of your Christmas party." - Old Gold.

Artist: YXIMALLOO Title: Fangs Of Lucifer Format: LP Label: Old Gold Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
|
A surprising and well deserved reissue of 1981-86 era tracks by Naofumi Ishimarus project of 20 + years. Imagine a cross between prime Half Jap (Jad Fair even supplied the cover art to some of his tapes from the early 80s) with the some of the more electronic LAFMS projects and youll get the gist. Beautifully packaged as well.
"Naofumi Iziwaru was another one of the first to respond to Old Golds formative request for musical submissions. With dozens of releases under the name Yximalloo dating back to the 1970s, Nao had put a transdimensional dent in the cassette underground and his collaborations with Jad Fair raised more than a few wooly eyebrows. He sent us numerous tapes and they put us on the floor in a puddle of our own souls crying out for more, rethinking our own music making, and asking to please - please! - let us re-release his music. This resulted in five tapes of our own hand-picked smorgasbord, resequenced at his request. When he began making CDs, we tackled the daunting challenge of compiling about 40 minutes worth of his best music from digital and analog to marry on clear vinyl. It took several years, a lot of late nights, and handfuls of reverse/fast forward, but in the end, we were happy, Nao was happy, and now you can be happy, too dammit. Electronic clank, off kilter funk, galactic babble, pre-historic riddims, utterly melodic snatches of techno wizardry are here set forth. Most were sold in Europe; grab what few are left from Fusetron. Comes in clear bag with clear inserts with track listing, musician credits (no small feat that!), and instructions for a performance piece called Fangs of Lucifer which we dare you to try, but not unsupervised." - Old Gold.
"Its dada and Romper Room, punk and situationist, naive art and sophistry. Eccentricity is just the beginning." - Thomas Peake.

Artist: ZANDOSIS Title: Chasing Ghosts Format: Cass Label: Old Gold Country: USA Price: $4.50 |
| "Sounds like Zandosis first PSF release, just in time for 1974. Les Rallizes Denudes plus Kaoru Abe and a weather damaged reel of ?-inch tape. Merzbow, Nihilist Spasm Band, Blowhole and Gorgoroth are not so much analogues as they are (lost) reference points. The ancient easterners used to believe that when they ate animals, they took on their spirit, their properties. Here, Zandosis does that very thing by ingurgitating the zeitgeist of Cages "1st Construction in Metal," Merzbows "Rainbow Electronics," and the writings of Emile Cioran. Like Cioran---and Suzuki, even---Zandosis are adept at unclothing despair and laying bare its humor. If chasing ghosts is supposed to take you somewhere, then its to a Cambodian whorehouse where the porch folk sit all day and watch townies get mauled by rabid dogs. Think on this; add some teriyaki, sake and warm Budweiser and youll know where theyre comin from. Highly recommended." - Copper Green, 2004. |
|
Artist: ZANDOSIS Title: Z vs. W Format: 7" Label: Old Gold Country: USA Price: $5.00 |
| "In January of 2000, we got together with no pre-conceived notion of what wed sound like. T-Def (Charlie Parker, Free Bass, "Destroy All Music" on WREK FM) was known to be loud, frantic, noisy and deliberately so. Stewart (formerly of William Carlos Williams, Lustmordem, At War with Satan, and PissChrist) played drums with a tiny Han Bennink on one shoulder and a tiny Dave Lombardo on the other. I had an alto saxophone, a microphone and a borrowed amp. Together, the sky would be the limit or the sky would fall. Fast forward to March of 2003. That motherfucker George W. Bush is sending the country (and its young men and women) to fight a pre-emptive war for no real good reason. Wed been playing very free, early-FMP/Haters style music, and focused our sonic output on those pushing this invasion. The result was about 15 short bursts of energy directed at 15 members of the Project for the New American Century. It felt good. Damn good, in fact. And it sounded good. The next time we played live, we played this new hardcore set. The lazy art crowd in the house enjoyed it. We dug it, too, sent it to the Czech Republic, pressed it onto 220 heavy vinyl records, wrapped them in print shop cleaner paper, and are unleashing it on the world. Chris may list the song titles. He may not. Either way: "Colin Powell Uncle Tom" was omitted by the pressing plant, so if you want to hear that song, gather two of your friends, count to four real fast and start screaming liar and/or fucker or any combination of the two while your friends unleash a torrent of rage. When youre done, say sell out." - Marshall Avett; Old Gold. |

The opening burst of sheer overpowering SOUND of his sax on the "Our Lips Are Sealed" CD on Pure was all I needed to hear to know that I had to (a) get my hands on all his music, and (b) get a saxophone myself and have at it. Years later, here I am still trying, and there Shiraishi is cracking concrete and splitting bridges in half in New York City with his trusty horn. A follow up to the Fusetron one-sided 12", this 180 gram vinyl is a full length capturing two Summer concerts that Shiraishi and percussionist/artist/thinker/time traveler Sean Meehan put on every year in the Big Apple. I wasnt there, but Geoff Dugan was and recorded them for the rest of us poor saps. A third player should be given credit here, too, as the landscapes the duo chose for venues are just as much a part of the recording as the instruments played. The Manhattan Bridge and the municipal garage on 79th Street cradled, amplify, defy and deflect Shiraishi and Meehan. The passing traffic and trains make it a quartet. As for Meehan, I have no idea what hes doing. But its a damn fine thing whatever it is. Eat it up." - Marshall Avett, Old Gold. Highly Recommended! |

Artist: OROURKE, JIM Title: Old News #5 Format: Double LP Label: Old News Country: Austria Price: $26.00 |
| "Introducing a nearly regular series of vinyl albums documenting analog synth and tape works (both studio and live) from the depths of Jim ORourkes archive, spanning a near quarter century of active duty in the field. Old News #5 kicks off with "Pedal And Pedal," a refined beauty of a live set at Tokyos Super Deluxe, to only be followed by a massive blast from the past in the shape of the monstrous "Detain The Man To Whom," recorded in 1992. Record two delivers the genuine weirdness of studio session "Its Not His Room Anymore," backed by the ripping "Mother And Who," which is an alternate version of what would become ORourkes live set at the 2003 All Tomorrows Parties Festival in the UK. Available only in this format." -Old News |

Artist: OROURKE, JIM Title: Old News #6 Format: Double LP Label: Old News Country: Austria Price: $29.00 |
| "Hot on the heels of Jim ORourkes Old News #5 comes #6, a new 70+ minute electronic piece split over four sides. Two years in the making, "All Thats Cold Is New Again" was partly commissioned by Christian Zanesi for GRMs Présences Électronique Festival in Paris. An intense and rewarding listen, rich in detail and full of some classic ORourke hooks and turns, which he has masterfully developed over the last two decades." -Old News |

Artist: INCA BABIES Title: Death Message Blues Format: LP Label: Old Skull Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| *Death Message Blues is the powerful new album from UK swamp blues band THE INCA BABIES. Its their sixth album in a career spanning 28 years and marks their full return to live performance after the death of founder member bassist BILL MARTEN. Originally formed in Manchester in 1983 by guitarist and vocalist HARRY STAFFORD and bassist Marten, the band released four albums and recorded four sessions for the BBCs legendary John Peel Show before splitting in 1988. Reuniting in 2007, Stafford and Marten recruited GOLD BLADE drummer ROB HAYNES, but work on the new album was halted by Martens sudden death in 2008. After a period of reflection, it was decided to complete the work that Marten had begun, with the bands long-time friend VINCE HUNT (A WITNESS, PURE SOUND) taking over on bass. Death Message Blues features twelve new tracks penned by Harry S. casting a net across fast and spiky R&B, swamp blues, bastard country and punk power. Lyrically, the songs observe usual Inca traits of wild characters, ghosts and murderous stories, with reflections too on the passing of Inca founding member, bassist Bill Marten." - Old Skull |

Artist: ALCORN, SUSAN Title: And I Await the Resurrection of the Pedal Steel Guitar Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $18.00 |
| "This is the fifth solo offering by the Houston, Texas based pedal steel sorceress, Susan Alcorn. "The Heart Sutra" opens and is inspired by the "Sutra of the Heart of Transcendent Wisdom", which was delivered by Buddha 2,500 years ago. It is a beautiful, yet solemn work that reverbates from within as Susan strums those magical strings. The title track, "And I Await the Resurrection of the Pedal Steel Guitar", was inspired by Messiaens "Et Expecto Ressurectionum Mortuorum". It is a near 16-minute epic of stirring, haunting sounds. Each note is stretched out and floats like a spirit on the wind in a graveyard. Ms. Alcorns approach to the pedal steel guitar is completely unique and she doesnt quite sound like anyone else. If one is patient enough, they will realize that she makes every note and space count. "The Glass is Already Broken" is another piece in which each melodic fragment is touching, somber and well-selected, yet it drifts into a more sinister area. "The First Turning of the Wheel" was inspired, oddly enough, by the late Bob Graettinger, composer & arranger for Stan Kentons classic album, "This Modern World/City of Glass". I am not quite sure how this music is related to Kentons modern big band work, but again I was moved by the solemn spaciousness. For "The Second Turning of the Wheel", the notes are again softly stretched out and immensely eerie. On "Three Minute Warning", Susan lets each sound swirl and be bathed in a haze or a ghost-like echo." - Bruce G. (Downtown Music Gallery) |

Artist: AUTRE NE VEUT Title: Autre Ne Veut Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "Debut LP by ANV. Co-release with Upstairs CD-R -- the label run by Dan Lopatin (of Oneohtrix Point Never / Games). Mixed by Chris Coady at DNA Downtown, NYC." "Autre Ne Veut (I want no other) was inscribed on the back of a gold and garnet hat ornament (ca. 1475) found at Hanley Castle in Worcestershire. It is rumored to be the gift of an English Duke to his French mistress, but this is simply conjecture." -- Metropolitan Museum of Art / The Cloisters, New York City "Olde English Spelling Bee is one of those labels you can implicitly trust to provide you with the most brilliantly weird music. Their latest missive is a self titled shocker from Autre Ne Veut, a moocher from the same circles as Oneohtrix Point Never and all those weirdo Brooklyn types with an uncanny line in subtly skewed pop queerness. Seriously, this is one of the strangest, most jarringly unique records of the year, and we love it. At heart its an incredible pop album with traces of Prince, Prefab Sprout and Erasure at its core, but each melody and harmony is delivered with an off-key sleight of hand that really plays on your preconceptions and experience of classic synth pop. Theres definite nods to the soundtracks of John Hughes movies and the like, but its perhaps more like The Breakfast Club score remade by the Troma company for some secret pay-per-view internet channel. Autre Ne Veut has possibly made one of our favourite albums this year and we urge you to investigate without delay. Essential!" - Boomkat. |

Artist: BIG TROUBLES Title: Drastic & Difficult Format: 7" Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $6.50 |
| "Kicking off the new OESB 7" series with a 4 track single by Big Troubles. International playboy Matt Mondanile (Real Estate, Ducktails) discovered Big Troubles and urged Olde English Spelling Bee to sign these guys on the spot for their fresh industrial shoegaze pop sound. Done and done. Features home recordings by Alex Craig and Ian Drennan who split songwriting and vocal duties down the middle. They are joined live by Luka Usmiani (No Demons Here) on bass and Sam Franklin (Fluffy Lumbers) on drums. Their debut full-length album, Worry, will be out on OESB in July." - Olde English Spelling Bee. |
|
Artist: BIG TROUBLES Title: Worry Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "The very premise of this musical -- executives borrowing an apartment to cheat on their wives -- makes this show entertainment for grown-ups. If youre cool with your older children being exposed to infidelity to the nth degree, they will likely enjoy the wit of the dialogue and the bouncy score. But take note: there is a suicide attempt and a drunk scene -- not exactly fare for young ones. Debut LP by Ridgewood, NJ shoegazers Big Troubles. Its pretty good. Parental advisory stickers not included." With glossy full-color insert and download coupon. "This immense new album from Big Troubles follows on from a great four-song EP for the Olde English Spelling Bee singles club, featuring the New Jersey fuzz-pop project bejewelled with pop hooks and spurts of brain-scorching noise. Theres an abundance of blistering C86-style pop nuggets on here, from the distortion-surfing Bite Yr Tongue to the euphorically hooked-up Freudian Slips. Theres an overwhelmingly fizzy, treble-some recording style here which imbues the whole thing with a hazy, nostalgic quality that reminds us of everything from My Bloody Valentine to The Jesus and Mary Chain to Dinosaur Jr at their very peak -- making for one of the standout lo-fi pop records of the year bar none. Very highly recommended." - Boomkat. |

Artist: BLACK JOKER Title: Watch Out! Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
|
"Fully re-mastered vinyl edition of what was originally a Europe-only cassette released in an edition of 80 copies from the solo project of Spencer Clark of The Skaters/Vodka Soap/Monopoly Child et al. Spencer describes Black Joker as being more drone-focused and with faster percussion than the recent Monopoly Child sets. Indeed, the percussion is thrifty and up-front, with arcs of criss-crossing time signatures generating maximum space/time confusion. The combination of trance-informed momentum and bubbling electronic sci-fi tones sounds closest to one of the Sun Ra Arkestras most future-visioned takes on ??Ancient Aethiopia? while expanding on the classic post-Angus MacLise feel of all of the best Skaters material. Comes with pro-printed 80s style 12? maxi-sleeves with liner notes by Fortean authority, itinerant visionary and Skaters road mangler in-absentia Charles Berlitz. ??the drifting of desert sand sculptures appearing within crystaline miraged mountains during a cycle in which the gleaming of sand star sparkled night is blown, floating towards dawn, as the racing of the camels amongst the sunbound mirages expend dimensions of presentation for these sculptures, which, as wind diminishes and returns, a sand is cast to represent the variety of dimensions interacted : as symbold vision, where the atmosphered wind senses the stars amongst the sand, the camel within the mirage, and the mediation of an experiences whole motion of interaction...? - David Keenan

Artist: COHEN, ALICE Title: Pink Keys Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
|
"The color pink corresponds metaphysically with the 3rd cosmic ray, symbolizing divine love and gentleness. The expression of the pink ray acts as a means of communication or interaction by radio, telephone, and telegraph and accesses the power to travel to inner planes. The keys unlock this ability, and the keyhole represents the portal we pass through. Pink Keys is the 4th solo album from musician & visual artist Alice Cohen. Using the idea of etheric keyholes as portals, the 11 songs act as keys; unlocking visions of different eras, places and dimensions of consciousness. The album showcases Cohens versatility as a musician and songwriter by drawing from a wide range of influences including her roots in 70s Philly Soul/disco, 80s new wave, and cosmic electronic music. Pink Keys unfurls like a roll of old film, revealing scenes of mystical realms and utopian beachscapes, as well as tawdry street scenes, where neon hotel signs blink, and a magicians silks flutter. The album was recorded over a span of nine months at her home in Brooklyn, and was mixed by Chris Moore (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, Liars) at Headgear Studios. It features guest appearances from Autre Ne Veut and Danny Lane (Sofa Club) on backing vocals, Thor Harris (Swans/Smog/Shearwater) on percussion, and Sara Villard (K-Holes/Bezoar) on saxophone. The album features a new version of her instrumental "The Lacemakers" which was previously released on Daniel Lopatins (Oneohtrix Point Never/Games) 2010 compilation "Radio Scenic Glow Volume One". It was a key release in the new synth/hypnagogic pop underground with tracks by Julian Lynch, Autre Ne Veut, Stellar OM Source, OPN, Games, and Gatekeeper." - Olde English Spelling Bee. Artist: COHEN, ALICE Title: Walking Up Walls Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
| "Walking Up Walls" is the second solo album from long-time musician and visual artist Alice Cohen. In contrast to her previous studio efforts these are raw home recordings with an intensely personal vibe. The sixteen short song-sketches alternate between densely layered shoegaze burners and shimmering, ethereal drifters. Exploring shadowy corners and using the musical equivalent of automatic writing - this was considered to be a sonic diary and not originally intended for release. For reference points think "Pink Opaque" era Cocteau Twins filtered through the early 90s lens of New Zealanders like Alastair Galbraith & Sandra Bell." - Olde English Spelling Bee. |

Artist: CURSE, CHARLES Title: Rain In Skull Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $18.00 |
| "Australian Charles Curses music is one of the weirdest things Ive come across all year. On Rain in Skull, fragments of disjointed folk melodies move across a plain of wheezing chords, tape hiss, childrens voices, ambient washes, amp hum, electronic glitch and bits of buzz in general. The contrast between downcast guitar playing and the physical claustrophobia-inducing weight of sound is equally perplexing and intriguing. Its all presented in a decidedly lo-fi environment but the sound construction is anything but simple, as this is a complex sonic stew, unique in the true sense of the word. - Mats Gustafsson The Broken Face Limited pressing of 200 copies, with full-color spraymounted covers, re-worked and remastered issue of an obscure cd-r release from 2007." - Olde English Spelling Bee. |

Artist: D.A. Title: Odeon Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $19.00 |
| "Debut album by sci-fi oriented vintage synth duo who recently relocated to Los Angeles from Texas. Very outsider in that they were completely unaware of the current synth revival going on in the American underground (Emeralds, OPN, Caboladies, et al). D.A. began recording after being commissioned to make soundtracks for floatation tanks at a new age center in Texas. A chance meeting at a cafe led to the duo handing dozens of hours of these sessions to OESB. This album features some standouts from those early recordings. Their time in Los Angeles has been highlighted by a series of private rooftop concerts that overlook training grounds for the L.A.P.D. riot squads - the scrambling helicopters and practice gun battles below adding to the sinister dystopian vibe of their compositions. Limited numbered run of 400 copies, silkscreened by Monoroid on heavy duty chipboard jackets." - OESB. |

| "Dear Matt, Its confetti for memories! your buddy Charles and the sunday afternoon gripfest staring, check this out: "Little Man Tate" and "Little Big Man", super funny, as well as a dusty tough to read flick called, you know i got carrots for brains, "Pipeline"! So, you know every trilogy needs the curveball, and well, "Pipeline" has got to be uncle charlie. I found these videos in the basement of chateau terrace antwerp, but its super gritty kitty down there and i just grabbed three quickies. So I just put on your jams, and i am gunna watch Pipelines surf visions and scope your memories and sunbake. but man, Pipelines front flap video tape protection is busted, so i am gunna trade it with "You Got Mails" front flap, at this point i have to duck into my roomates zone and grip his RCA to Mini jack, but he has a sign posted that reads "STAY OUT OF MY ROOM". super funny, but later i am gunna take the sign, cross out "ROOM" and insert "DREAMS", put the sign on my wall, let somebody specials red orange lipstick make out with it, so that the guy knows hes a cutie and chazzis touched by freak. But so check it, i had to grip this RCA to Mini jack so that i can grip your memories and watch Pipeline. Hey man, for real though, member when we were on the beach in barcelona, before our car got towed, and we were cruising to beverly hills cop soundtrack, The Master and Carmen San Diego were in the back, we got to the beach jumped in the water drank beer ate coconuts and got massages while staring at boob people. at that moment, like when we snuck into the berlin film festival and danced Oceans 11, wow, my roomate just came home, hes wearing a long party wig and telling chazzi that he shagged all night long in a squat called "Duel 3", no joke; but yeah, i cannot, for the parrot in me, forget those times, to each his own future, So wait, back to Pipeline,, no wait, i got to tell you about this party last full moon, my roomate throws one every month when the moons light eclipses that of the rational minds hesitations, and well i had to dj, i wanted to, but i brought the parrot along, you met him right? he is always there when chazzy does the radio show or when monopoly needs vocals on a bamboo track, but neither of us invite this guy to the parties where those other dreams come true. its not cool, so i brought him along, you know his name right? Belafonte, so belafonte and i start dj-ing, you know that song from Police Academy called "I got to be somebody" by Jack Mack and a Hearttack? stars and ecstasy, for real, and jel doctor was getting me buckets of beer, cuz it was so hot and the air is full of short stuff, so i flip the records and repeatedly fend off requests for beat it and dirty diana, and all of a sudden Belafonte has drank all my beer and is smoking cigarettes, there are no tickets for free coldies, and i get pretty pissed, i kinda let Belafonte have it, you know, telling him that i cant take him anywhere, gnorm the gnome style, and hes like "alright, you go get some more beers", wow, your mirror jam just cruised in - memories... so, yeah, Belafonte is like "go, get some more beers and let me talk some of these girls into dancing with us and you will be calling me Most Valuable Vertabrae, birdtalk magazine style, so i get a bunch of coldies cuz tod god just came through with some bready poo, i come back to the dance floor, and well, i guess Belafonte burnt his head on his own cigarette, and this girl named Manon, but he understood as Emanuelle, like schnikies!! well his head is burnt and this black paint starts rubbing off his head, and i notice that there is paint on my neck, my face, and on her face, and her neck, and so on and so forth CSI style, and everybody kind of understands, the girls have taken this black paint and are marking it on their bodies like war paint initiation style, and they are petting Belafonte like hes the unattainable, i had no idea that this parrot was a model for Birdtalk Magazine back in its hey day, group therapy is affective... later i asked Manon for some affection, and she said "no, your feet are too dirty", on account of me wearing flippers to a dance party, and was like cool, its not even july 4th yet, but then, as i walked away she was like "Three O Clock, meet me at the Zoo!" no joke, Belafonte and me were like ah kuku ah kaka bamboo-for-two style... Stories are forever and i got to get back to PIPELINE, which is hitting the screen right now, and its definitely not about surfing and reminds charles of when Ebay and you stayed at the new york dantes microchip apartment and it was so hot and you guys passed out next to each other in your undies exclusively like siamese pipeline limbo style, if i had hoagie it would have been chazzi to chucky in like 4 doners and sixty seckies... Thanks for the memories Matt, i miss you man, i think Belafonte and i will get deported soon and i will meet you in Cali. Love, Charles Berlitz" |

Artist: EUBANKS, BRYAN / J.P. JENKINS Title: Split Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "Bryan Eubanks (of GOD) delivers a throbbing wall of distressed electronics that is "indeed heavy at intervals but also makes a cognitive transparent treatment" according to the cryptic liner notes. To further quote the liner notes: "... this music is a tool for is is sunk that in a different interpellation than overleving neccasitates." What? For his side, J.P. Jenkins (of Ghosting, Portland Bike Ensemble) layers acoustic guitars in a psychedelic, personal style thats more intuitive and exploratory than technically inclined. His unique approach sidesteps any of the current neo-folk/fingerpicking trends and goes for something more organic and amorphous." - Olde English Spelling Bee |

| "In Chameleon Ballet I wanted to create a work of magic that simulates a dream atmosphere of post industrial landscapes, with the waking memory of a romantic alien encounter occurring in the dream. Dedicated to the mystery of night and the magic of dreams -- James Ferraro. Debut limited edition album by this new sci-fi synth project of James Ferraro of The Skaters et al, with 1980s minimal wave moves bisected by the kinda keyboard patterns you mightve found on an Edgar Froese solo album or post-Body Love Klaus Schulze then exploded with barbarous invocations, syruped-vocals and some black drone atmospherics. Or, as the cover art suggests, urban landscapes as visioned by showroom dummies illuminated under 3 am neon. Another killer. -- David Keenan. Artist: FERRARO, JAMES Title: Multitopia Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
| "New album from James Ferraro of The Skaters/Lamborghini Crystal et al, the first run ever presented under his own name. Multitopia is our reality system, James writes in the liner notes. A post 9/11 reality technology in between the frames of data reception. A cross wire into new head and necessary evolution upon the impact of the towers. It feels like a major work from James, the first fully-conceived album to go beyond his initial brain-fried 1980s nightmare culture documentation, reconciling both dystopian and utopian mindsets in a vision of Pan as Multitopia. Body modification, the blurring of sexual persona (via cracked images of James on the back with a modified pair of breasts chilling next to an arcade game) and cyborg intelligences are all recurrent tropes in James work but here he explodes them all, with some of the most aggressively nuanced keyboard and drum work of his entire career, kicking off with a full kit sound that sits somewhere between industrial steel drums and chaos pads then building to an evocative peak that then dissolves into wave after wave of fluxing keyboard drone and oddly looped vocal fragments. The gravity of the music is truly omnivorous, devouring drone, punk, new wave, industrial and minimal synth modes and spitting them back out as intensely detailed black and white visions of the future now. James somehow manages to interweave vacuous TV announcements and cheap anchor man quips alongside the lucid, microtone rich keyboard work, situating the whole deal in a virtual, godless netherworld with each track a further descent into hell. It is both beautiful and horrifying. A major work from James - no one is doing anything remotely like him. Highly recommended. -- David Keenan. Remastered version of the CD-R release on New Age Discs. Limited edition of 425 copies. Color printed covers. Dedicated to Zac Davis." -Olde English Spelling Bee |

| "Remastered issue of an obscure tape from the mysterious Outer Limits Collective (Wingdings/Explorers/Matrix Metals/Foxy Baby/Yoga/90210/etc). Limited to 425 copies in pro-printed duo-tone sleeves with a 5-page essay booklet." "The flashback repository is a storehouse of collective waste consciousness from all beings of the universe, i.e. all unfiltered myth & material of the human/alien/animal mind, laying dormant in a hidden dimension resembling a disposal area or transfer station somewhere within our spectral plane. A vast depot for all universal race memory that passes beyond our mortal earthly cognition and subconscious apparatus. This reposited latent substance is available to all organisms within our particular sphere, all beings earthy and paranormal. The recordings here represent the three main stages of unconscious withdrawal: Glimpse, Recurrence, and Manifestation - they are a blue print of sorts. There may be a possibility of the retrieval of materials - the recycling of this substance alongside the development of individual real-time understanding of eternal materials and impressions that are constantly escaping our sensory grip. The repository shows itself as what appears to be part of an undivided whole, a section manifested in our dimensional field through thin channels of emotion & vibration. These phenomena are the result of direct brain-repository contact, a glimpse into the infinite plenitude of energy and data housed by the repository. With each glimpse, each peek through these looking-glass channels, the mind gains a deeper insight into the potentials hibernating within the data-pool and the particular characteristics and movements of the repository. It is important to note that the usage of the word flashback connotes not only the re-collection or re-existence of memory and dream data from the past, but also the future. For instance one can flash forward just as easily and achieve the desired results." -- Outer Limits Inc. |

Artist: FOREST SWORDS Title: Dagger Paths Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "Wirrals Forest Swords make a textured, gauzy music as indebted to the Liverpool regions rich musical heritage as it is to the bleak-yet-beautiful coastal environment from which it was born. The result is something completely organic, sounding like a dancehall mix of Mogwais more luscious soundscapes, Burials sample-strewn claustrophobia, and Ennio Morricones spaghetti western scores. The records sweaty and thunderous dub grooves and cavernous guitar licks rub shoulders with RnB shuffles, dread-soaked percussion, and heady drones to create a visceral and epic sound. "Dagger Paths" consists of specially remastered versions of songs from the out-of-print cassette singles Miarches and Glory Gongs, along with brand new tracks. Full color pro-printed covers and insert - also includes a download coupon for the mp3 version." - OESB. |

Recorded 2004 in the parking lot of the Jim Daytona Avenue 711 memorial. Dedicated to Richard Ramirez. Grippers Nother Onesers is a channeling of teenage mutant glue sniffing psycho dreams, a prelude to the psychotic beach bum depression induced by junkfood and huffing siphoned gas out of the Oscar Meyer mobile. After Dark Cravings starts out with a voice saying hello earthlings which is an alien mistaking a candy bar for the HIGHER LIFE FORM inhabitants of earths soft analog air minimal lo-fi satanic ritual resinated at the bottom of a plastic bong. Ashes of the Charles Manson Family Band. A flash of memories of a Grateful Dead tape playing after you picked up a psycho hitchhiker. Jim Carrey self-consciousness about his new nose job at the Oscars, being a vessel for the voice of the omnipresent leviathan comprised of lost souls stranded naked on the shoulder of the fast lane. aside from the heavy Richard Ramirez zone I wanted the record to have the feeling of when you find a half empty bottle of anti-psychotics and just see the name of the owner and you wonder where that person is now- PTC. Artist: KODAMA Title: Turning Leaf Migrations Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
| "Kodama is the ongoing recording project of two well-known visual and sound artists - Hitoshi Kojo and Michael Northam - and this is their first widely available release as a duo. Recorded in various improbable locations whenever they crossed paths over the course of several years and then finally edited and assembled in a cluttered garage in the west side of Indianapolis. There is a decidedly more improvisational feel and crisp psychedelic aura to these recordings when compared to their other work and one can hear the influence of Ghedalia Tazartes in how the various recordings were stitched together. Limited pressing of 500 copies. Covers & insert printed on 2-color offset press with illustrations and design by Hitoshi Kojo." -Olde English Spelling Bee "We are the spirit of forest. Our howling has been offered to the many goddesses of the valleys. Teething our emptiness they, licking the stars, until white holes appear in our sky through them towards regenerative guides of the tonal-morphic omni-verses. Using found objects to seduce voices from unlikely sources as well as traditional instruments of wind, wires and wood. Kodama weaves between emotional poetry and dynamic forces of noises. The recordings have a strong atmosphere of each location - the top of a mountain in Switzerland, a campground in Ohio, Lofoten Island in Norway, the arctic circle in Finland, Niagara Falls, etc. It includes a lot of the dirts of the raw recordings, but also incredibly beautiful moments such as the session with an owl in a Slovenian forest, an alpine summit singing meditation under the vast galaxy, and an encounter with the small people through strange ritual..." -Hitoshi Kojo |

| "Orange You Glad" is the debut full-length lp from Julian Lynch, following a string of self-released cd-rs and a recent split 7" with his childhood friend and frequent collaborator Matt Mondanile of Ducktails on the Underwater Peoples label. This album is comprised of 4-track home recordings made in his hometown of Ridgewood, New Jersey and also in Madison, Wisconsin where he is a graduate student in ethnomusicology. His interest in Indian & South Asian music blossomed several years ago when he was living in Washington, D.C. and working for Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. This exposure to their vast library of world music has informed his output, and he blends instruments such as harmonium & tabla with guitar-rock instrumentation. Artist: MCCLURE, BRUCE Title: Vouchsafe Me More Soundpicture - Fain Make Glories Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $19.00 |
| "Bruce McClure is well known on the international experimental film circuit for his unique projector performances that utilize film loops & modified 16mm projectors. But there is also an equally innovative sound element to his work and he has been embraced by the experimental music community as well. Bruce performed at the Chocolate Monk curated Colour Out of Space festival in 2008 and was chosen as an opening act for Throbbing Gristles reunion tour in the spring of 2009. During McClures performances the optical sound signals from each projector are fed through banks of guitar pedals, manipulated live, and played at extremely high volumes through the p.a. system. The different loops phase in and out of each other resulting in what could be described as a power electronics version of the early tape experiments of Steve Reich and Terry Riley, while sparser sections have an off-kilter minimal techno feel reminiscent of Plastikman and the early works of Thomas Brinkmann. This album features four excerpts from a professionally recorded performance in early 2009 at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, MN. Edition of 375 copies in heavy duty covers silkscreened by Monoroid." - Olde English Spelling Bee. |

The A-side "I Need My T.V." is a Squeeze-meets-XTC vibed track that will appeal to fans of the Rangers l.p. on OESB as it sounds like a half-remembered lost classic from an 80s infomercial beamed onto a thrift-store VHS. "Burnin Through The Nite" is performed by OLRs The Sweethearts (a collaboration with Zak Mering of Greatest Hits/Raw Thrills) and rides its nocturnal groove all the way to #17 of DJ TONY FRANKELS NIGHT BURNER HIT CHART (circa 1972). Artist: PIGEONS Title: Si Faustine Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
| "Pigeons is the psychedelic pop project of married couple Wednesday Knudsen and Clark Griffin. They met in Seattle and, while living there, were part of The Sea Donkeys -- a shambling anti-folk collective of freaks which also featured Hisham Mayet of the Sublime Frequencies label. The Sea Donkeys released an LP on the Sun City Girls Abduction label in 2005. Pigeons formed later that same year when Wednesday and Clark relocated to New York. After releasing a string of micro-run cassettes and lathe-cut vinyls that explored noise and free jazz modes they turned their energies towards writing structured songs. The first widely available release of their song-oriented material was the Virgin Spectacle lp that came out on Black Dirt in 2008. That was followed by a 7" single on Soft Abuse in 2009. Si Faustine is their second album and, like Virgin Spectacle, was recorded at Jason Meaghers Black Dirt Studio. Also featured on the album are contributions from Carter Thornton (Enos Slaughter, Gnaw, Zashiki-Warashi, Izititiz), Jason Meagher (NNCK, D. Charles Speer, Coach Fingers), and Rene Blume-Meagher. Pigeons are currently living in Paris, France. Artist: PUSSYGUTT Title: Gathering Strengths Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $19.00 |
| "Third full-length release from this Boise, Idaho duo following two critically acclaimed efforts - the Sea Of Sand double-LP on OESB and She Hid Behind Her Veil CD on 20 Buck Spin. PussyGutt continue to develop their unique brand of doom soundtrack heaviness on Gathering Strengths, which features two side-long compositions titled Silence Within & Spirit Walker. Clarinets, violin, and cello are all prominent - lending this album even more of an avant-classical feel than previous efforts. The band calls this album an esoteric meditation on soul and nature and they cite Alvin Lucier, Henry Gorecki, and Arvo Part as primary influences for these recordings - along with the funeral doom of groups like Nortt, Catacombs, and Celestiial. Aquarius Records sums it up best in their review of the CD: This is some seriously sinister shit, sweeping and darkly cinematic, the soundtrack to the eventual collapse of the universe, the sound of dying stars, or of some long slumbering beast awakening after millennia... infused with a deep otherworldly beauty. Packaged in heavy duty covers silkscreened by Monoroid, limited and numbered edition of 550 copies, with glossy insert." - Olde English Spelling Bee. |
|
Artist: PUSSYGUTT Title: Sea Of Sand Format: Double LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $28.00 |
| "PussyGutt, noun, pronunciation: p u-sE-"guht ; etymology: Middle English, from Old English guttas, plural; probably akin to Old English gEotan to pour: (1) : BOWELS, ENTRAILS -- usually used in plural (2) : the basic visceral or emotional part of a person b : CATGUT. "Pussygut" is an old western slang term for the violin or fiddle - as the strings used to be made from cat intestines. "PussyGutt" is the duo of Blake Green and Brittany McConnell from Boise, Idaho. They have created a distinctive flavor of outsider "doom" with unique instrumentation that coincidentally features LOTS of violin (Brittany is a classically trained violinist), along with synths, gongs, bowed cymbals, crystal goblets, organ, drums, clay pots, forest sounds, ducks, various electronics, tons of feedback and humming bass-amp, and as if all thats not enough theres a secret weapon up their collective sleeve - the TRACTOR!!. The group holed up for nine months in their studio experimenting and composing the four side-long pieces for this double album. They are joined on Sea of Sand by Seattles Garek Druss (of A Story of Rats and Ear Venom) as collaborator/3rd member. Garek contributed his experiments with field recordings, repetition, electronics, and sound-collage to the proceedings. Also appearing is Chad Lefler of Seattle legends Old Cloud throwing down some heavy-duty amplifier worship. The music? Extremely HEAVY. Deeply WEIRD. A friend of the band coined the term "soundtrack aficianarcoleptics" to describe who this album will most appeal to and indeed the entire album is largely cinematic in its approach. The "riffs" & drums mostly stay hidden in their caves, venturing outside on a few brief excursions to catch some moonlight and provide puncuation to the drones and other assimilated madness. Limited edition of 550 hand-assembled copies. Packaged in heavy-duty gatefold sleeves with four spraymounted panels that were custom offset-printed on silver stock with two coats of black ink for extra darkness. Full size inserts printed on vellum paper. Specially mastered for maximum bass presence on vinyl by Mell Dettmer who has mastered projects for SUNN 0))/Boris, Earth, Asva, etc." - Olde English Spelling Bee |

Artist: RANGERS Title: Suburban Tours Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "Rangers is Joe Knight. "Suburban Tours" is his debut vinyl release after a string of popular cassette albums last year - including "Low Cut Fades" on Not Not Fun. His sound has been referred to out in blogland as "elevator psyche" and "mirrorball funknagogic pop" - and thats not a bad start considering his music is often bass-driven with washes of synth and prog-psych guitar riding over the top. Unlike the extended side-long collages of his cassette releases, "Suburban Tours" is a collection of eleven concise "pop" songs that were written and recorded after moving to San Francisco from his native Texas. Not knowing anyone in this new locale, he describes the period after the move as being extremely lonely and plagued with near-constant rainfall. So he holed up and focused his attentions on recording a batch of songs that reflected on his suburban upbringing outside of Dallas and what he calls the "failed connections with nature" that exist in these suburban zones (fake lighting, cranked-up air conditioning, golf courses, and gated "communities" where everyone keeps to themselves). But despite the loneliness and melancholic themes there is a remarkable amount of color to his music. Like its the sound of what hed want to have playing on his headphones while riding a bike thru these neighborhoods -- the sound necessary to make these places seem lively and fun. Music blog Visitation Rites hits the nail on the head when saying "his music reflects a parallel fixation with the tape reel as a cutting board for the psychic trappings of middle class American youth." Rangers is drawing from an entirely different set of musical influences than the rest of his peers - combining a passion for Manchesters Northern Soul sound with early 80s rock radio staples like Rush and The Police and the 70s prog-fusion of Weather Report. Plus hes got the chops to pull off this unlikely union -- in fact the cutting engineer for "Suburban Tours" was utterly baffled and commented that it sounded to him like a lost Steely Dan session recorded onto a mangled microcassette tape. Thats a good thing, right? Full color pro-printed covers and insert - also includes a download coupon for the mp3 version." - OESB. |

Artist: ROBEDOOR Title: Shapeshifter Slave Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "Shapeshifters are messengers and imitators of the gods. Shapeshifters can be divine or human. Crossing boundaries between sacred and evil, they often bring messages, power or punishment from the gods. Shapeshifting is used to gain access to the tower. They are able to turn any situation around. Nothing is too much or too little. The shapeshifter can invert a life-threatening situation into one where he triumphs. This form of shapeshifting is most commonly painless but can be traumatic if the change was unintentional; clothing is rarely lost in this process. Edited, assembled, and mastered with assistance from Pete Swanson of the Yellow Swans. Ectoplasmic cover art conjured by Frances Parisse Bruno. Pro-printed black and white covers and insert. Limited edition of 425 copies." - Olde English Spelling Bee. |

Artist: SKY JUICE Title: Above The Law Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $17.00 |

Jones, Stoney Freeman, & Zac Davis and was recorded between 2004 and 2008 in various Ohio/Michigan/Massachusetts basements. Artist: SKY JUICE Title: Hard To Kill Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "Vinyl debut from the legendary/mythical Sky Juice twins. The brothers Sky Juice Jones and Sky Juice Jackson are musical telepaths and simply have no fear, riding the groove as long as it takes to navigate the back alleys of Clevelands most dangerous neighborhoods. Severely mangled guitar gunk astral-projected from deep inside the twisted lobes of Lambsbreads Zac Davis. Unavoidable private press vibe, with mumbled cliffs edge moan & groan vocals, drums courtesy of the Corwood session-player circa "Electric End", and guitar rave-ups that share a tattered couch with The Index, Raven, Low End Lars, and Vulcan. Limited & numbered edition of 300. Paste-on covers. Photocopy collage inserts. Ohio bummer." - Olde English Spelling Bee. Features Zac from Lambsbread. |

Artist: SQUIM Title: Zephyrus Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $14.00 |
| "Squim, a.k.a. Chris Phillips, is an obsessive recordist living in Portland, Oregon. In the 90s he was very active in the underground mail art and tape trading scene - running the "Circle X" label out of Salt Lake City and releasing several well received cassettes on the Bobby J. label. This album will be his debut on the vinyl format and was chosen as being the standout from among a half dozen other unreleased albums of recent recordings. On Zephyrus, Squim blends repeating melodic motifs with his meticulously collaged noise/dronescapes. This is a limited edition release of 350 copies - each cover is a unique color monoprint hand printed by Squim and spraymounted, back covers are a photocopy paste-on. " - OESB. more about the album Zephyrus - in Squims own words: lets see, recorded most of it in the spring of 2003... its constructed from a combination of field recordings and studio sessions where i would bounce the tracks, pan them, speed them up, slow them down and add filters and reverb. they were also run through a feedback loop in the mixer with various effects on a first-generation korg kaos pad. for instruments i played an electric guitar, a harmony acoustic guitar, a casio cz-101 and a casio sk1. for the field recordings I used a minidisk (that fell apart during the sessions) with a stereo mic... a fisher price tape recorder, and a hand held tape recorder... while doing the studio sessions i would also record what I was playing on the tape decks then later position them around the room for playback... i would ping pong these sounds back and forth several times. I was also experimenting with the feedback that occurred from layering the same sound over itself multiple times. during the recording i was reading a lot of weird sci-fi, horror and ghost stories. particularly Algernon Blackwood, Clark Ashton Smith, Arthur Machen, M.R. James and William Hope Hodgson. these influenced me to try and capture a sense of cosmic dread contrasted by everyday surroundings. "Trial by Cobra" and "Doppelganger" are references to The Blind Owl, a Persian novel by Sadegh Hedayat." -Olde English Spelling Bee |

Artist: THOUGHT BROADCAST Title: S/T Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $18.00 |
|
"You can not stop thinking. About 18, I finally calmed down, I thought I could stop thinking completely. I become a zombie for four years. Then, in a broken heart, I started again. I came out of the "grip" that held me tight. I started hearing voices. I also tried to kill time. First, you must confess that its people like you and I believe that is broadcasting the idea. It is terrible. When I look around, I am someone who is the same idea with me. My idea is to broadcast. You can read our thoughts. The first is that we can consider a bad idea (like gender or a persons weaknesses). Second, we believe that we have the power to make people read our thoughts, even if it is bad. Because it has the broadcasting of this thought, please consider why it is a lot of people. To hear any ideas you and I are thinking of and I thought of you. Some people think that for all this world, and you can hear what you think they are. The reason for this is that you can read the mind of everyone of us. There have been times when I have an idea that I will consider evil. I do not believe them, but I know they are in my own voice in my head. Then, I would think that they have been implanted by external forces trying to influence my behavior. I just do not want it to develop into something like I do not believe, my inner voice is your own or something like that." - OESB. "Theres nothing mechanical about this outsider extravaganza from Nijmegen. Its electro-acoustic singer/songwriter material mixed with noise escapades and weird lo-fi interludes. Many enthousiastic and proud owners of this limited edition 12 were stunned finding out it was not a compilation of various artists. "trouwen..." has been made by Pieter Kock and his merry men. The Hitmachine performes live and is a real band. Notorious for being the most vivid improvised beefheart-core band in the world."-Ole

Artist: HITMACHINE, THE Title: Viel Zu Viel Fine/Schönbrunn Format: 7" Label: Ole Country: Netherlands Price: $7.00 |
| "Like the Rolling Stones kept house in the Amstel hotel, the Hitmachine redecorates the Austrian palace Schoenbrunn. They proclaim: It feels zu viel fine. A distorted playing band on the edge of feedback sticking to one beat on side a; Side b provides a whirl off phasing polyrhythmic noise This 7 contains one of the bands ugliest faces: a live recording of The Hitmachines core business today; putting conventional rock n roll instruments to the test. This is a beautiful addition to their diversity of musical styles, ranging from popsynthsongs to electro-acoustic pieces, as can be heard on their first 12" release Trouwen met je Neef" on Olé-records." - Hitmachine. |

Artist: MERRY, HARRY Title: Village Life In 1905 Format: 7" Label: Ole Country: Netherlands Price: $7.00 |
| "Harrys keyboard has been producing Bach, Beatles and some clever barrel organ sounds ever since Harry got his organ back from the factory. Where he had send it with the task to rearrange it so it could produce the sounds and structures he needed. Harry Merrys hilarious apearance and total baroque musical style is often misunderstood in the popscene, mainly seen as a funny gimmick. He first got recognised in the Rotterdam artscene as a representant of typical dutch avantgarde music. Like Willem Breuker uses march music, Harry uses the street organ sound and sings with a strong dutch accent and puts these typical elements in a new perspective. Harry is a talented composer being ironic and absurd, singing in his own unique way about the Panorama paper, moody busdrivers and Hoydenish Ambrosial. Artist: V/A Title: Underground Praha: Banned In Czechoslovakia Format: LP Label: Oloj Country: France Price: $24.00 |
| Subtitled: Musical Activism Under communism, 1975-1990. "Until the fall of the Soviet Union, popular music, and particularly rock music, was banned in Czechoslovakia. Hence, most of the bands were playing instrumental music to avoid any trouble with the government; however some of them were radically engaged against the censorship and communist regime and had to record live materials during forbidden concerts. The music was incredibly raw; a kind of free jazz rock with both psychedelic hints and punk flavors, added to screaming vocals. This set is the best way to enter the fascinating and innovative sound of the Czech counter-culture. This compilation includes DG 307, the Plastic People of the Universe, the Mch Band, Iva Bittova & Pavel Fajt, Pulnoc, Mikolas Chadima & The Extempore Band and Uz Jsme Doma." -Oloj. |

Olyvetty is the distortion of a symbol, the language prevailing over the content, the information over the production. With this new project, which was presented at Netmage 08 for the first time, the depths of noise and minimal-techno have been systematically plumbed. As all-encompassing as a hole , a double picture-disc vinyl was recorded manually. The two artists both live in Berlin , where they met and started their collaboration. What they have in common is their actual research on sound, which means a direct interaction with the object and its surface through the use of different supports, both durino production and live processing." - Digimag. Artist: FUJIEDA, MAMORU Title: Obscure Tape Music of Japan Vol. 11: Radiated Falling Format: CD Label: Omega Point Country: Japan Price: $27.00 |
| "Mamoru Fujieda is a Japanese post-minimalist composer, and Edition Omega Point releases some of his work from the early 80s. Both "Radiated Falling" (1980) and "The Art Of Fugue" (1981) are tape compositions in which sound materials of a prepared piano are electronically-processed and modulated in various ways. "Radiated Falling" is based on "Falling Scale No. 2" for piano (1975). The series of works entitled "Falling Scale" are composed almost entirely of descending scales as their structural elements. In these works, patterns are automatically produced by the difference in the number of scale tones or through the temporal discrepancy made when the tones descend. In "Falling Scale No. 2," a spiral line is successively transformed. The artist piled up the spiral line in several layers with the uneven timbres of the prepared piano producing sound materials for "Radiated Falling." The sound materials were then transformed to layered sonic textures through the ring modulator, the phase shifter, the harmonizer, and various delay processes. "The Art of Fugue" is based on a simple fugue in four voices from the first piece in The Art Of Fugue by J. S. Bach. The four voices were randomly cut into fragments, which were then reassembled to form four new voices. Each of the voices played by a differently prepared-piano was recorded on a multi-track recorder to produce sound materials for the piece. The sound materials for the prepared piano were then electronically-modulated and spatially processed. The randomly cut fragments of the fugue are interwoven at different tempos to make it "The Art Of Fugue" on the brink of collapse." -Edition Omega Point |

"This CD is the first-ever release of an extraordinary 1987 New York City performance. Recorded at the Great Hall of the New York Hall of Science, this majestic recording captures the 60-minute opening performance of Yoshi Wadas interactive sound installation "The Appointed Cloud", which consisted of a self-made 80-pipe organ, a pipe gong, sirens and a massive suspended metal sheet, all triggered by a computer program designed by David Rayna. | "Deemed to be too dark and offensive for release when it was recorded in 1978 and bootlegged ever since, this is the first official release of Haackula. Haacks anger with society is palpable as he hisses and cusses his way over elastic electronic backings. Imagine a very, very bummed-out Kraftwerk scowling as they play childlike melodies and sing under their breath of fear and abandonment. Also included for the first time is Haacks extraordinary 1982 collaboration with Russell Simmons on the track Party Machine and the incredible 32-minute soundscape of Icarus from 1979. All tracks make their first official release here and are lovingly remastered from the original tapes. Includes liner notes, photos and full lyrics." -Omni Recording Company. |

Artist: REYNOLDS, MALVINA Title: s/t Format: CD Label: Omni Recording Company Country: Australia Price: $22.00 |
| "Malvina Reynolds was the grooviest grandma to ever strut across the folk singer stage. At the ripe age of 70 (in 1970) she joined forces with members of The Byrds, The Dillards, The Sunshine Company, producer Alex Hassilev (of fabulous folkies The Limeliters) and others to cut her self-titled psych-protest opus. With a heart of gold and an acid tongue, Malvina wraps her creaking, aching voice around the hot topics at the close of the tumultuous 1960s. Rounding out the collection are a handful of extremely rare 45-only cuts, alternate versions and six astounding previously-unreleased tracks. Lovingly remastered from the original tapes, all selections make their first appearance on CD here. Deluxe packaging, 16-page full color booklet with exclusive notes and rare photos." - Omni Recording Company. |

Artist: DIPERS, THE Title: How To Plan Successful Parties Format: LP Label: Omnibus Country: USA Price: $13.00 |
| "Members of THE INTELLIGENCE, recorded by CHRIS WOODHOUSE of MAYYORS The gaucherie that is How to Plan Successful Parties relies not on squishy sentiments, fist-pumping party anthems, nor smoke and mirror tricks to project it?s message and the reason for this is that Successful Parties has no message. In fact, you will find not a single set of instructions for arranging celebrations successful or otherwise so don?t even look. Written democratically and without a dictionary by Emphysema, Ricketts, and Cirrhosis (all, it should be said, past and present members of other similarly bombastic and trashy musical outfits such as the A-Frames, the Intelligence, and Double Fudge) and recorded by Sacramento?s stun-gun toting boy genius, Chris Woodhouse, these seven songs ooze sexy mashed potato slush laced with shrapnel and unicorn horns. Put these songs on after polishing off a box of bargain basement macaroni and cheese and see if you don?t have to fight the urge to run a nice lukewarm bath and set that bitch on repeat." -Omnibus |

Artist: STRAPPING FIELDHANDS Title: The Third Kingdom Format: CD Label: Omphalos Country: USA Price: $9.00 |
|
"Just as quizzically as they disappeared off the face of hip indie rockers playlists, Phillys Strapping Fieldhands have resurfaced to wow the listening public with another outrageously good release. Unless you had direct deposit allocated to an account at your local record store in the mid-90s, you probably passed right over this eccentric combination of British skiffle, sobering sincerity and occasional treks into the world of unconventional noise-rock. With previous releases on Shangri-La, Siltbreeze and their own Omphalos Records, the Fieldhands have consistently received praise from critics, while invariably sneaking beneath the publics musical radar. Its been almost ten years since the bands first release; perhaps this latest batch of remarkable ditties will finally score the Fieldhands some well-deserved adoration from the public.nIf youre in need of immediate justification for these seemingly outlandish claims about the Fieldhands, try out "Panic in the Commune". Full of chiming guitar notes, an undercurrent of swirling psychedelia-blessed chords and a charming multi-voiced chorus, "Commune" epitomizes the bands unusual style, sinewy vocal melodies and curious topical content while delivering an unmistakably catchy tune. Digging a bit deeper into The Third Kingdom, both the warm strumming and an organ-heavy melody on "Heave Ho" and the melancholic "Eager Girl" have the familiar faux-British quality that has been a Fieldhands staple since the bands first release. "Cold Rock Chameleon" acknowledges New Zealand icons like The Clean and Straightjacket Fits, with dense, dreamy layers surrounding a center of warm pop goodness. Prepare for a mind-altering, head-tilting aural experience, as The Fieldhands strike several curious chords -- both figurative and literal. Just as appealing as the bands retro-outfitted melodies is its penchant for messing things up with a bit of oddball noise. Were not talking Merzbow-inflicted ear damage, but slices of tuneful, drug-tested meandering (check out "Dustbin Joe") that bring to mind such varied influences as The Dead C and The Pogues. "Folk is Tough" teeters on the edge of musical chaos, fuzzy and almost jig-like as it rattles through puzzling rhythms and inebriated vox. Somehow its all wrapped up into one glorious musical offering, baring a new range of emotions and styles with each new track.
To peg The Strapping Fieldhands with a generic label such as "indie-rock" would be a gross mistake indeed. The band exhibits a fondness for unusual timings and melodies, and runs through a broad spectrum of influences and peculiarities, none of them anchored in stereotypical indie sounds. However, The Third Kingdoms greatest strength is its consistency. The band hasnt wandered too far from its original style, honing its songwriting skills rather than expanding its sonic universe, and in the process creating its best batch of tunes to date. By God, there is a bit of innovation left in the rock n roll world!" - Andrew Migilow.

Though young in years, he plays with a technical facility and emotional depth equal to that of the greatest fingerstylists. His discography is already full of strong releases, but this new recording is the first Ive heard to fully capture the intimate beauty that many have witnessed in his live acoustic performances across the country. Authenticity has been a issue that has plagued folk music for much of the 20th century and these days anyone can pick up a style that was previously known only to a few mountainfolk. While Bachmans playing is surely reminiscent of the spiritual searching sound of Robbie Basho, and indeed the spectre of Fahey looms large, he is no Johnny-come-lately. The distinct sound you will hear on this record is inspired by the traditions and lore unique to Fredericksberg, Virginia, also the hometown of Jack Rose (may God watch over his soul). Limited edition one time pressing of 500 copies." -One Kind Favor. |

Artist: HIGNEY, KENNETH Title: Attic Demonstration Format: LP Label: One Kind Favor Country: USA Price: $19.00 |
| "Often considered the Holy Grail of "real people" records, Kenneth Higneys "Attic Demonstration" was never actually intended to be an official release. It was recorded in New York City by Higney and his accompanist Gordon Gaines (R.I.P.) as a vehicle with which to sell Higneys songs to other artists and was only pressed to vinyl in 1976 when he grew tired of duplicating cassette tapes. Apparently the Jandekian dissonance of the "A. Demo." sound was an unintended by-product of the one take demo sessions. Be that as it may, "Attic Demonstration" is a strange sonic world all of its own. It is neither too weird to be unappealing to "regular" music listeners nor is it one of those "discoveries" that leaves you wondering what all the hype was about. Acoustic guitar ballads of nearly atonal desolation mix readily with rock n roll numbers featuring hiccuping drums and alien sounding electric guitar. Hingeys vocals are by turns sneering and mournful as he sings about lost love and the desire for fame all filtered through his uniquely bent worldview. Although a few ads were placed for the record in The Village Voice and The Aquarian, the fame that Higney sought eluded him (a semi-positive review in Trouser Press notwithstanding). That is, until the album was discovered and distributed by record dealer Paul Major. "Attic Demonstration" has been featured in the Acid Archives and copies of the original LP have soared in price over the years, but you no longer have to pay $100, $200 or even $300 to obtain a copy of this monumental album on vinyl. One Kind Favor and Kenneth Higney have teamed up to bring you an official reissue of "Attic Demonstration" remastered and with all the original artwork." - One Kind Favor. |

Artist: HIGNEY, KENNETH Title: Funky Kinky/I Wanna Be King Format: 7" Label: One Kind Favor Country: USA Price: $6.00 |
|
"Official reissue of Kenneth Higneys 1980 private press 45rpm single. Compared to "Attic Demonstration," the recordings are much more polished. Synthesizers and "pop sensibility" have found their way into Higneys music, and the more I listen to it, Im convinced this could have somehow taken the world by storm in some sort of post-No Wave context. Dont get me wrong, this is still incredibly strange stuff, with Higney triple tracking his vocals in different registers. "Funky Kinky" is an especially unique come-on to a lady and "I Wanna Be The King" is an "ode or tribute, whatever youd like to call it, to the NYC punk scene of Maxs Kansas City and CBGBs in general and Johnny Thunders (the "King") in particular," according to the artist. "I wanna be the king, I wanna play guitar. I hate the sissy music of John Den-var." Higney goes on to say: In June of 1980 Kebrutney released a seven inch single of "I Wanna Be The King" b/w/ "Funky Kinky." This was my shot at being a performing writer and these were my first recordings done with the intent of being released to the general public. They were not demos. My thinking was to release a "double A side," which was reflected by the catalog numbers on the label: "KBH-516RAS" for "I Wanna Be The King" was the rock ("R") side and "KBH-516FAS" was the funk ("F") side. A monster record which drowned in the swamp after being chased by the villagers." -One Kind Favor. |

Artist: SOUND CEREMONY Title: s/t Format: LP Label: One Kind Favor Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
| "Canadian born guitarist and songwriter Ron Warren Ganderton self-released three LPs with his group Sound Ceremony while living in the United Kingdom during the 1970s and 80s. First came "Guitar Star" (1973), then "Sound Ceremony" (1979) and finally "Precious As England" (1981). Despite some modest distribution and frequent gigs, the band never seemed to really take off and Ganderton eventually returned to his native Vancouver (where he still resides), leaving hundreds of unsold records in the attic of his house. While these copies seem to have been lost to the ravages of time, One Kind Favor will now reissue the second Sound Ceremony LP. All of the groups efforts are undeniably unique, but "Sound Ceremony" (1979) is the true brain-damaged winner of the bunch. The record surely fits somewhere into the UK punk explosion of the day, but its also looks back to the mid-sixties rock that Ron cut his teeth on and ahead to some sort of maniac future form of entertainment that perhaps has not been invented yet. Gandertons truly "out of it" stream of consciousness lyrics show a clear lack of self-censorship and thats really one of the albums strongest assets. He has created this character of himself as a huge rock star and a sex symbol, and who are we to deny his claims? This stuff is eerily convincing. Like Lou Reed, the mans ideas often cant be contained by something so limiting as the bar line. The band chugs along amiably as Gandertons vocals wander all over the place. If youve never heard a singer do a count-off all the way up to seventeen, then now is your big chance! Features what is perhaps the greatest anti-cigarette song of all time." - One Kind Favor. |

Artist: SIX WAYS TO AVOID THE EVIL EYE Title: Six Ways to Avoid the Evil Eye Format: LP Label: One Tree Country: USA Price: $18.00 |
| "This album is a reissue of a super limited CD-R from 2006. These are mysterious recordings that seem to be emersed in an innerspace composed entirely of serious reverb Jello, all instrumental-style with loads of tabla and slide guitar and international/continental/other worldly instruments & sounds. The artist is Dr. Eweerd Yijji (aka Ed Yazijian) who should be known for his work with serious folks like Dredd Foole and Pete Prescott (Mission of Burma, Volcano Suns) and many others (not to mention occasional live performances with the mighty Sun City Girls). this is his first solo release. Handmade silkscreened covers. with a limited quantity available." "Violinist and steel guitarist Ed Yazijian aka Dr Eweerd Yijji has played the Lee Underwood to Dredd Fooles Tim Buckley for past few decades with barely a thought to the contours of his own musical soul. For anyone expecting simply a series of solo violin and guitar readings, Six Ways To Avoid The Evil Eye will come as a real curveball, as the central orbit around which most of these tracks swing is mostly based in rhythmic/percussive ritual in a way that more immediately brings to mind the rain of stones that defines much of the Angus MacLise back catalog. Theres a heavy, devotional air to much of the activity that speaks of personal trance as eloquently as the works of Alice Coltrane, albeit transposed to a much more punk primitive palette of hand-drums, bows and traditional acoustic drones." - David Keenan, The Wire. |

Artist: BREGGER, DOUGLAS Title: Crystal Arcade Format: LP Label: Only Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| Original copies of this awesome outsider/"real people" style, homemade synth LP from 1988. Breggers next LP, "Vampire Radio" is sort of a holy grail of 80s weirdness as only 100 copies were pressed. This ones an edition of 300, despite what it says on the cover.. Still in shrink but theyve been opened to check for warpage. "My Influences -- a preliminary list: Amon Duul II, Carla Bley, Kate Bush, Laurie Anderson, Faust, Throbbing Gristle/Psychic TV, Klaus Schultz, Tangerine Dream (pre-1980), Sun Ra, Ken Nordine, George Russell, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Morton Subotnick, Alvin Lucier, Zoviet France, Hafler Trio, Incredible String Band, Exuma, King Crimson, Heldon, John Lennon/Yoko Ono, John Cage, Poogy, Ivor Cutler, Alan Stivell, sound effects records, sound sculptures/mechanical music instruments, Keith Jarrett, Mnemonists, Henry Cow and all of its offshoots, British Folk, etc..... All recordings were done over roughly a 4 year period from 1984-88. Generally speaking, the older ones used the Realistic Moog, and the newer ones used the Casio CZ 101. All songs were recorded on a four track cassette deck. This is not a garage recording; it is a basement recording!" - from the liner notes. |

Artist: HORTON, ROBERT Title: First Light Format: CDR Label: Onomato Country: USA Price: $9.00 |
| "Robert founded the Appliances, part of SFs first wave of punk bands in 1979. Then later formed the Plateau Ensemble in 1983, a tribal noise drone group who played in the Bay Area until 1987. From the early 90s until 2004 Horton continued to compose and record, but didnt release any of it publicly until 2005, when he put together First Light. Originally released on the Finish label Outta (now defunct), in a tiny edition of 50 copies. Anyways were all glad Robert has opened up the floodgates, and Im pretty excited to get to re-issue this thing in a slightly larger edition. Artist: JMJ TRIO Title: In The Absence Of The Third Mind Format: LP Label: Ontological Country: USA Price: $14.00 |
| "The JMJ trio considers their music to be a part of the rich tradition of ambient music and trace their influences back to Erik Saties "furniture music" and John Cages ideas of inclusiveness. The environmental re-structuring found in the tape works of Luc Ferrari and Pierre Schaefer also contributed to the work in both sound and process. Contemporaries who have inspired the JMJ trio include such artists as Helen Said This-era Dead C, K-Group / Surface of the Earth, Omit, Dean Roberts, and Rafael Toral. Recording for In the Absence of the Third began in Oyster Bay, New York during the winter of 2000 and continued through the summer and fall months at the Library in New York City, using a simple four-track cassette recorder to document improvisations performed on alternately tuned and prepared guitars. The recording sessions were inspired in part from the ideas developed by the Nordoff-Robbins School of Musical Therapy; namely, that ones innate creativity can be expressed through improvisation, and that this exploration can positively address emotional, cognitive, and developmental needs. Additional sounds were drawn from the different recording spaces and from field recordings of the surrounding environment. Preliminary selections were digitized at The 402 Annex in October of the same year; recording, editing and mixing continued until the following spring. Improvisations were structured and re-structured in the digital medium through intuitive means. The goal was to layer sonic textures with shifting sound events that allowed the pieces to evolve. The JMJ Trio strove for music that dictated its own form, which re-invented itself within its own parameters. The living space became a crucial part in the creation of these sound events -- when someone unlocks the front door and slams it shut, the answering machine interrupting a recording session, St. Nicholas Avenue as a rain-slicked cavern, the sustained crackling of steam radiators throughout the apartment. The improvisations happened while life happened around us. In the Absence of the Third is packaged with silk screened and hand painted covers and is available in a limited edition of 250." - Tonevendor. Last copies of this 2006 release. |

"These are four of the wildest sessions ever recorded by Italian space brothers Maurizio and Roberto Opalio at their famed Space Room in Torino, Italy. Cosmic guitar whirls and piano-toy action alongside a tribal, compulsive percussion-set which makes their space drones shake the air the way Xenakis would have made if he ever had directed a primitive tribe from another galaxy. If you never considered Pluto as one of your favourite hangouts, the 85 minutes of "Plutonian flames" will definitely break you in." - Opax. |

Artist: MY CAT IS AN ALIEN/MATS GUSTAFSSON Title: Cosmic Debris, Vol.IV Split Format: LP/Artwork Label: Opax Country: Italy Price: $135.00 |
| "Fourth volume in the ongoing "Cosmic Debris" series of split ART-LP releases set up by the Opalio brothers, aka MY CAT IS AN ALIEN (MCIAA), on their own Opax Records. This time the space improv duo from Torino, Italy, shares one side of the vinyl with Swedish radical saxophonist MATS GUSTAFSSON, whose twenty-year career boasts collaborations that range widely over the contemporary improvised music world, from masters of the free jazz such as Peter Brotzmann, Derek Bailey, Joe McPhee, to famous members of the noise scene such as Thurston Moore, Jim ORourke, Yoshimi & Yamataka Eye among others. In every personal message exchange between MCIAA and Gustafsson, their own respective ALIEN FAITH! & PEACE & FIRE! mottos always occur, often combined by the artists themselves into new formulae & meanings: ALIEN FIRE! / PEACE & FAITH! / ALIEN PEACE! / FAITH & FIRE!. Needless to say dear gents, this is not a joke, yet each of these words combination assumes a deep rule in describing this new exciting adventure in the Cosmic Debris saga. In fact both artists tracks represent an exemplary encounter between open-minded artists, resolute in creating something to go beyond limits and their own goals too, looking for something truly alive and free: Peace & Fire! and Alien Faith! indeed. In his track I Have Not Set Any Time Limits For The Attempt Mats Gustafsson plays tenor and slide sax, weevil sax, and electronics. In MCIAAs Everything Burns Like Cosmic Debris the space brothers play astral and cosmic guitars, vocals, mouth harmonica, space toys and burning percussions. The five-volumes series "Cosmic Debris" features My Cat Is An Alien alongside Text Of Light, Steve Roden, Keiji Haino, Mats Gustafsson, Loren Connors & his Haunted House band. Each record comes with an original acrylic painting by Roberto Opalio on 30x30cm proper canvas, with a unique Polaroid instant film installed on each piece, representing 100 different perspectives of a same subject related to My Cat Is An Aliens own cosmic imaginary." - Opax. Edition of 100. |
|
Artist: MY CAT IS AN ALIEN/STEVE RODEN Title: Cosmic Debris, Vol.II Format: LP/Art Label: Opax Country: Italy Price: $112.00 |
| "Second installment in the "Cosmic Debris" split ART-LP series set up by Maurizio and Roberto Opalio, aka My Cat Is An Alien, on their own Opax Records. The Vol.II sees the two space brothers from Torino, Italy, alongside Californian visual and sound artist Steve Roden. What makes this collaborative release so peculiar is the natural interactive exchange occurred between the artists, and that came out from the concept behind the experience itself. Rodens contribution thus represents the unique experience of hearing him literally playing guitar chords. His first track, "E-bows and Rainbows", developes through the minimal and reiterated sound architecture of Rodens so-called possible landscapes, where singular source materials such as objects and field recordings are abstracted through electronic processes to generate new audio spaces, characterizing the artists aesthetic in sound works; the following "My dog is a Yufo" is so far a pretty unheard aspect of Rodens ability to shape a fascinating intimate piece only with an old electric guitar and his own fingers, and it also demonstrates how a true artist can re-create his own personal universe, no matter what kind of source utilized. On their side, MCIAA deliver another piece of cosmic debris, centered on multilayered echoes of voice, toy piano, space drones raising from a distant horizon, and their own physical gestures performed during the recording, which reproduce themselves through the air, re-play and give birth to echoes of real time that overcomes its own essence, becoming field recording itself, mirror and spectre of its immutability. Their track entitled "Everything waves like cosmic debris" also features Ramona Ponzinis Japanese bells contribution. The five-volumes series "Cosmic Debris" features My Cat Is An Alien alongside Text Of Light, Steve Roden, Keiji Haino, Mats Gustafsson, Loren Connors & his Haunted House band. Each record comes with an original acrylic painting by Roberto Opalio on 30x30cm proper canvas, with a unique Polaroid instant film installed on each piece, representing 100 different perspectives of a same subject related to My Cat Is An Aliens own cosmic imaginary." -Opax |

| "The first installment in the new Cosmic Debris split ART-LP series set up by Maurizio and Roberto Opalio, aka My Cat Is An Alien, on their own Opax Records. Volume One sees the two space brothers from Torino, Italy, alongside Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth) and his all-star ensemble Text Of Light (this time featuring Alan Licht, DJ Olive, Ulrich Krieger and Tim Barnes). Their track "033103 Paris" has been recorded live at Centre Georges Pompidou in 2003 and mixed in dual mono by Ranaldo & Licht at NYC Echo Canyon studio in 2004. MCIAAs piece entitled "Everything Falls Like Cosmic Debris" is a conceptual overture to the whole series, performed in April 2006 at their secret recording space called Alien Zone, located up the Italian Western Alps. Each record comes with an original acrylic painting by Roberto Opalio on 30x30cm proper canvas, with a unique Polaroid instant film installed on each piece, representing 100 different perspectives of a same subject related to My Cat Is An Aliens own cosmic imaginary. "Way up to Enfer" is the entire recording of an acoustic, totally improvised session performed on December 31th, 2005 at My Cat Is An Aliens new Alien Zone headquarters, located somewhere in the Italian Western Alps. Along the two tracks featured in "Way up to Enfer", Maurizios acoustic guitar notes create subtle killer tunes woven in a richly textured harp-like fingerpicked style, like the charming sound of a lyre emerging from a spinning maelstrom in the sea. There are no space sounds here, but clearly emotional rises, an acoustic resistance to the falling darkness, or maybe just the right way up to Enfer." - Opax. |

| "special handmade ltd. ed. of 100; in nice-textured cardboard tri-fold sleeve, with silver ink drawing by Roberto Opalio; handnumbered. "New short film by visual artist / musician Roberto Opalio, one half of My Cat Is An Alien. Filmed on March 21st, 2006, the video represents a visionary, introspective view of the empty spaces over the city, Torino. Through a unique, hand-manipulated shot made in real-time, Roberto Opalios poetic fragmentation and distortion of real objects recalls early film experiments by Man Ray, as well as a certain Warholian psychedelia in the use of filtered light as a main principle of creation / perception of ones own reality. The soundtrack, recorded the same day appositely, leads to a further estrangement with the use of Opalios looped wordless vocals and electronics merging into a heavy, ecstatic stream of sounds." - Opax. |

"Epocsonixarp is the second full-lenght album of the Praxinoscope duo formed by Roberto Opalio (My Cat Is An Alien) and Ramona Ponzini (Painting Petals On Planet Ghost). This work is even more lyrical and ecstatic than the debut; here Robertos use of a mini-keyboard and astral effects collides with Ramonas hypnotic use of several handmade wood percussions and her Japanese wind chimes and bells, creating such an infinite and intimate space so that you cannot but loose yourself inside. A whirlpool of Robertos whispered wordless vocals will live till the evening dies, and the black of the night will come to surround everything. As the duo asks, Play it in the dark!." - Opax. |

Artist: PRAXINOSCOPE Title: S/T Format: CDR Label: Opax Country: Italy Price: $16.00 |
| "Praxinoscope is a new project which sees the duo Roberto Opalio (one-half of My Cat Is An Alien) and Ramona Ponzini (close collaborator of the Italian space-brothers). While in the debut album as Painting Petals On Planet Ghost (out in early September 2005 on Time-Lag Records) Ramona will focus on her Japanese vocals alongside both brothers acoustic tunes, here she plays little Japanese percussions and wind chimes, creating a resonant texture over Robertos alien wordless vocals and space electronics. The material comes from a whole session recorded in a mysterious location of the Western Alps, directly transferred to cd using neither overdubs nor outtakes, practice which the Opalio bros have made us addicted to. For the entire lenght of its 40 minutes, the piece will stifle you the breath because of its so pure essence and intimate mood; a mystic, suffocated chant reminding the silence of ancient rituals, the ultimate exorcism to avert the Infinite Pain. ltd.ed. of 125 hand-numbered copies; look-like-vinyl black-bottom cd-r in special heavy paper folder sleeve" - Opax. |

Artist: BODY/HEAD Title: S/T Format: LP Label: Open Mouth Country: USA Price: $20.00 |
| "Bill Nace (Guitar) and Kim Gordon (Guitar, voice). So much more than a likely pairing, this is a group which manages to illuminate the best of both players while simultaneously pushing them into fresh territory. Live shows have been accompanied by slowed films, and the pairs obsession with cinema comes across in the music itself. The pieces exist as vignettes in and of themselves, all the while presenting a full-bodied emotional narrative over the course of the records 20 minutes. Its fascinating to hear Nace and Gordon develop these ideas, to hear relatively simple pulses, stabs, moans, and calls take shape as something almost like songs. There is a strange terror to this music. Electric shards punch through and shatter the air. There is agonizing pain living in the guitars and genuine anguish in Gordons voice. It is some of the most courageous and emotive singing of her career. This is some of the most fantastically elastic music currently being produced, shifting form and formlessness without batting an eye. Like the best art, it exists out beyond the limits of what we can easily define. Its as pained as it is curious, as free as it is claustrophobic, full of spellbinding tension throughout, from the sparse opening of Turn Me On to the intensely moving and breathtakingly sad closer, Where Did You Go?, a track thats as good as anything either player has ever put to tape. Its so scary and so sad, so tender and so angry, a consummate example of what both musicians are capable of, the capstone to a sequence so satisfying one wants to just play it again. The music changes shape with each listen, behind each shadow lives another melting perspective. Beautifully pressed at 45rpm, the fullness and depth of sound and feeling come through loud and clear. This record is a complete picture, a blurry pool at night, a short story to revisit over and over again." -Matt Krefting. |

Artist: FAT WORM OF ERROR Title: Broods Format: LP Label: Open Mouth Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
|
Co-release w/ Ecstatic Peace. "Maybe its something in the raw cows milk one can so fortuitously
procure here in Western Massachusetts, or maybe its that lysergic
haze of Berkshire foothill emanation, but whatever it may be, it is
most definitely in manifestation as the five-headed rock n noise n
bleet n zzrrp n roll n weirdcore phenomenon known only as FAT WORM
OF ERROR. After more than six years of live gig decimation and
confusion and a smattering of cassettes, cdrs, legit LP releases (on
labels as swank as LOAD and Ultra Eczema), FWOE has become, along with
Noise Nomads and Dinosaur Jr, as one of the most astounding musical
whatsis factors in the Pioneer Valley. It was after being stunned into
melted delight one evening at our local hang (the Flywheel natch) by
the dead battery guitar, silent psycho-killer bass, drums punked
beyond the free thump joy of John Stevens n Drumbo, and the supremely
swinging costume-cuhraziness of the FREEKwency singerwell, we wanted
to do a, ahem, proper LP. Put this genius fringe into the studio
with Justin Pizzoferrato (thats right, the guy who helps engineer J
Mascis and T Moore sides) and capture the delirious magic of FWOE in
their inimitable prime. And we did! And Mark Beyer did the cover art!
And the drummers name is Neil Young! And this LP rules HARD, and if
you happened to be in the same room as the live FWOE this last summer
than you know: Fat Worm of Error has got the coolest moustache in
town. Case closed." - Open Mouth.

Some young pud officers falsely claimed theyd had a noise complaint and shut the thing down, shining lights deep into the ocular orifices of both Flaherty and Nace to make sure their souls were not harboring weapons of mass destruction or something. Such reaction remains sadly typical of the thought crimes perpetrated against those who would think in free-flowing curves during this new Fascist Century.
William Bill Nace and Paul Pops Flaherty are two of the finest side-sliding brain wranglers in the greater New England area. Flahertys saxwork has been well known for decades, and is personally responsible for hitching many young mules to the free jazz wagon train. Naces guitar stylings are a more recent development, but they have hewed to such an idiosyncratic path that their constantly renewing techniques feel as timeless as butter.
Not sure exactly how these guys fell into the same boat. Presumably Chris Tigercat Corsano was involved. He had, afterall, maintained a long-running eponymous duo with Flaherty as well as one called Vampire Belt with Nace. So that may have been the key. Perhaps the twod get together to jam along with the TV set when Corsano and Bjork would appear on some laye night program. Maybe thats how it started. But whatever the case, the combination of Flahertys long wiggling shrieks and Naces amp-rasped string-explosions is a lovely totter into the abstract eye of a very hot furnace. There is tons of high-aktion skronk on this LP without any kind of apologizing about lack of formal content or linear development (both codewords for bullshit). This mother just GOES.
And its sure to appeal to anyone who also likes going. Especially if they hate fucking cops. (Note: the cover art by Rick Fang Myers shows two Bobbies being melted by UFO lasers.) Or even if they just hate Rudy Giuliani, which, presumably we all do. Imagine this as a very loud bullet slowly pushing its way through Rudys skull and just wallow in the pleasure of it all. Yum!" -Byron Coley

Artist: KREFTING, MATT Title: High Hopes Format: LP Label: Open Mouth Country: USA Price: $19.00 |
| "High Hopes is recording of music for cassettes. While the general tone is experimental, the structural elements of song are not left behind. Each side is a continuous statement comprised of brief motifs and repetitive strains bleeding into one another, coalescing into a cold narrative of half-remembered, slow mbiras, 78s of an orchestra in endless refrain, a confused piano, a vocal hosanna... While the pacing allows a certain introspection and the tape fidelity allows a certain detachment, direction and concision are not sacrificed. Elements from side A reappear on side B recomposed, and an overall tone of melancholy is maintained throughout. E.M. Cioran said, A heart without music is like beauty without melancholy. Here... youve got it all." -Greg Kelley. |

Artist: CARTER, CHRIS Title: Moonlight Format: 12" Label: Optimo Country: UK Price: $14.00 |
| "Originally released in 1985 for Chris Carters Mondo Beat LP on Conspiracy International, "Moonlight" is getting a long-overdue single release of the original and reinterpretation from Neurotic Drum Band. A long-time fave of JD Twitchs, "Moonlight" was a hit in the late 80s with a much slowed-down bootlegged version on the Belgian new beat scene and amongst the Italian cosmic DJs. Neurotic Drum Band keep the original feel, slowing it down just a touch for an ultra-head-trip psychedelic spaceflight." -Optimo |
|
Artist: CARTER, CHRIS Title: The Spaces Between Format: LP Label: Optimo Country: UK Price: $16.00 |
| "Originally recorded between 1974 and 1978 at Industrial Records studio in London, The Space Between was first released as a 90-minute cassette in 1980 on Throbbing Gristles Industrial Records label. It wasnt until 1991 that it was again released by Mute Records on CD. For those who may not know, Chris Carter is one of the founding members of Throbbing Gristle, partners with Cosey Fanni Tutti (knows as Carter-Tutti and formerly recording as Chris & Cosey) who has been working with sound for over 40 years. Although tracks from The Space Between have appeared on numerous compilations since its release, the album has never been available on vinyl -- until now. This new vinyl edition on Optimo Music, now retitled The Spaces Between, doesnt include all the tracks on the original album but has been enhanced and remastered from the original two-track master tapes and has new cover artwork especially for this release. JD Twitch has this to say about the release: "The original release featured fifteen tracks. As I wanted to have a reasonably loud vinyl pressing, I have picked my favorites to appear here (not an easy task to narrow it down). In addition, there is a bonus track Climbing which was recorded around the same time that was released by Coils Geoff Ruston on his Men With Deadly Dreams cassette in 1981. One of the first-ever recordings to use an 808 drum machine, it still sounds as if it is from tomorrow. In my opinion, these are some of the key recordings in the history of electronic music. They were made using very basic equipment at a time when there was no blueprint for what electronic music could and should be. There is a beauty, an emotion and an imagination present here that is lacking in a lot of modern machine music. This music is as vital and wondrous today as it was four decades ago."- Optimo. |
|
Artist: ZUMMO, PETER Title: Zummo With An X Format: LP Label: Optimo Music Country: UK Price: $22.00 |
| Originally released in 1985 in an edition of 500 copies, this is the first time this album has been available on vinyl for nearly 30 years. Peter Zummo (born 1948) is an American composer and musician. He plays the trombone, valve trombone, euphonium, synthesizer, other electronic instruments, and also sings. He is associated with the post-minimalist and Downtown aesthetics, and he describes his music as "minimalism plus a whole lot more." "I first discovered Peter Zummo when I first discovered Arthur Russell. I kept hearing THAT trombone sound throughout Arthurs music and through scanning through various label credits made the connection that this Peter Zummo character was a constant collaborator with Arthur. Zummos trombone sound is one of those things that if I am feeling anxious or pissed off will instantly soothe me and make everything feel alright. So, as well as wanting to hear everything Arthur had touched, I now also wanted to hear everything Mr. Zummo had created too. Its worth bearing in mind that at this point, in the mid- to late 90s, there was almost zero information online about Arthur or his music or his collaborators. The upside of this was that all his records werent too hard to track down and werent going for crazy money. I randomly found Zummo With An X in New York around 1999 and wasnt sure what to expect. I instantly liked the first side, Lateral Pass but side 2s Song IV took my breath away and remains to this day one of my most listened-to records. Despite the minimal elements, I hear more in it every time I listen to it, and sometimes the perfect interaction between cello, trombone and percussion sounds like the voice of Arthur being beamed in from the aether. It is 20 minutes of sheer bliss that feels as if it could go on for twice as long. Unavailable on vinyl since 1985, its a great honor to be making this record available again and I cant imagine anyone with even a passing interest in Peter Zummo or Arthur Russells music failing to be beguiled by this." -Twitch. |

Artist: KTL Title: KTL3 Format: LP Label: OR Country: UK Price: $26.00 |
| "LP-only release. This is the third full-length release by KTL, the formidable collaboration between Stephen OMalley (SunnO))), Khanate, etc.) and Peter Rehberg (Pita, etc.). Another soul-destroying follow-up to the highly-acclaimed 2, with more accompaniments created for the theatre piece, Kindertotenlieder by Gisele Vienne and Dennis Cooper, which premiered in Brest, France, March 2007. Perhaps the broadest bulletin from the duo thus far, featuring two contrasting tracks. The layered dementia bliss of "Loud Game" counterbalances the fried dub of "Sunday." Stephen OMalley (strings, fx, amps, tube osc.); Peter Rehberg (digital osc, apps, drives). Produced by Stephen OMalley & Peter Rehberg on location at Vienne Wintergarden, Grenoble & Manoir Kéroual, Guilers, July 2006 and February 2007. One-sided heavyweight vinyl and etching by Savage Pencil (SAVX), packaged in a tip-on style outer sleeve, heavyweight inner sleeve and sticker." -OR |

Artist: MONOTON Title: Monotonprodukt 07 20y++ Format: CD Label: Oral Country: Canada Price: $16.50 |
| 2003 reissue, originally recorded 1982; seminal German underground electronics. "Born from the desire to reintroduce on the market an outstanding, yet surprisingly unknown work of the 1980s, this ORAL release is also the result of a dialogue with hypermedia researcher and artist Konrad Becker, which occurred during chance, yet fruitful meetings. Sometimes in the path of a music lover and record collector, a work will beckon you, imposing itself with its singularity, depth and timelessness. Monotonprodukt 07, produced in 1982, is such a work." "...is so alive with the pulses that triggered many electronicas to come, from techno through trance to Megos creeping static, you could make a case for Beckers guruhood. Yet, for all its prescient washed out tones, threadbare textures and minimalist rigour, it has the edge on much that followed. Adopting an imperious art stance towards mainstreams and margins alike, Becker cast a cold analytic eye over electronicas urfathers, picking up on Suicides jittertronic urgency, if not their melodrama, and DAFs throbbing sequencers, but with the sex threat removed, which he patched into his own crackling circuits, hissing vistas and tumbling beatstreams." -- The Wire, #175, Sept. 1998, from the article "100 records that set the world on fire (when no one was listening)." |

Artist: NAGISA NI TE Title: The Same As Flower Format: LP Label: ORG Country: Japan Price: $58.00 |

"Nagisa Ni te (aka Shinji Shibayama and Masako Takeda) are back. Their new record The Same As A Flower, recorded between 2002 and the beginning of this year, is the third to be released by Jagjaguwar. Much like on previous records, the songs on the new record by this Osaka, Japan-based group are about nature, about the singularity of two people immersed in nature together, and about experiencing life as being, not becoming or recovering from. And like their previous full-length record, Feel, The Same As A Flower still brings to mind the very best of sixties and seventies psychedelic, progressive and folk rock (i.e. middle-era Roy Harper, Pink Floyd, 13th Floor Elevators and early Neil Young)." The 5th Nagisa Ni Te album. Limited LP with deluxe gatefold sleeve

|
Artist: E.M.A.K. Title: Emak 3 Format: LP Label: Originalton West Country: Germany Price: $30.00 |
|
"EMAK started in 1981 as a loose collaboration of several individuals interested in electronic music at a time when almost no one else seemed to be interested in electronic music at all.
The collaborators on EMAK 1:
Matthias Becker - owned a small 8-track studio at that time.
Kurt Mill - had the initial idea for the project and co-produced the first album with M. Becker.
Klaus Stühlen - a keyboard wizard of local fame interested in rare and special sounds - he worked as a freelance sessionplayer and composer of film music.
Michael Filz - an amateur muscian with a faible for electronic music.
EMAK 2: (released 1984) Becker, Mill, Stühlen again.
Michael Filz had left and Peter Fröhlich joined who contributed some tracks to emak 2 which reflected the NDW movement which was en vogue at that time.
Beckers track a lhorizon clervaux with its combination of gregorian chants and electronics already presents the concept which which Michael Cretu several years later should earn a fortune with his project "enigma".
EMAK 3:(released 1986) it`s Becker and Stühlen again, Fröhlich and Mill left.
New: U.Fuchs : bass player and multi-instrumentalist and M. Peschko: Soundengineer with a faible for minimal sound design.
Soundwise definetely the best of the emak records , featuring strange Harry Partch instrumentation on no city zoo in ottawa and the voice of the late John Peel on "sunken galleons an pirate pictures". To be honest: John Peel, who was still alive at that time did not like the track at all. Maybe because Becker had taken parts of Peels voice from an old tyrannosaurus rex album without having asked peel before doing so." - Minimal-Wave.org (Artist Bio). Small stash of this 1986 release (their 3rd LP - the first one was posted on Mutant Sounds recently). All mint/unplayed.

Artist: ALLEN, TERRY Title: Ghost Ship Rodez Format: CD Label: Orion Read Country: USA Price: $27.00 |
| "In Ghost Ship Rodez Terry Allen pursues a fictional investigation of what may have happened in the mind of French artist, playwright and actor Antonin Artaud during a 17-day journey restrained in the dark hold of the freighter Washington in 1937, and later, in various mental institutions. While living in France, Artaud had obtained a walking stick that he considered was the staff of Jesus Christ handed down to St. George. In 1937, Artaud journeyed to Ireland to return the staff to its country of origin. However, while there, he experienced a series of extreme mental and emotional crises that culminated in a violent altercation with Dublin police. Artaud’s subsequent deportation to France was a grueling journey, which he spent straitjacketed and chained to a metal cot in the bowels of the ship. The live theater piece from which this radio play was adapted, was originally commissioned by and developed at Les Subsistance Artist Atellier Laboratories, Lyon, France and performed there as a work-in- progress, June 2006, at Festival Les Intranquilles. It was further developed and performed at MassMoca, North Adams, MA, Feb. 2008. The completed work premiered at the Lensic Theater of the Performing Arts, Santa Fe, NM, April 2010 in conjunction with Terry Allen’s exhibition Ghost Ship Rodez (The Momo Chronicles) at Site Santa Fe, Feb-May, 2010." - Orion Read |
|
Artist: ALLEN, TERRY Title: Live at Als Grand Hotel, May 7, 1971 Format: LP Label: Orion Read Country: USA Price: $30.00 |
"Four years before the release of his celebrated country concept album, Juarez, Terry Allen was invited by his friend Allen Ruppersberg to perform at the opening night of Als Grand Hotel, an installation/exhibition where Ruppersberg converted a two-story craftsman house in Hollywood into a fully functioning hotel with seven themed guest rooms. Terry Allen set up his piano and played all original songs to a familiar and enthusiastic crowd, including early versions of the Juarez series and five songs that remained unreleased until now. Lost for almost 40 years, the original recordings have been restored and released as a new gatefold LP album with photographs documenting the installation and live performance. The record brings together sad songs and mad songs, songs about the past and the uncertain future… live, raw material from the beginning of this great songwriters career." - Orion Read. Edition of 500 copies, from 2011.

Artist: HEIDECKER, TIM Title: Titanic and Other Songs Format: LP Label: Orion Read Country: USA Price: $27.00 |
| "After reading that Bob Dylan’s forthcoming album, Tempest, will include a 14-minute song about the Titanic, comedian Tim Heidecker set out to record an equally epic song about the ship, to “see if I could beat the master to it.” The rhyming ballad begins in 1912 and ends in the present day with James Cameron’s decision to re-release The Titanic (1997) in 3-D. “I can’t wait to see how close I got to the real thing!” The album also includes a cover of Dylan’s All the Tired Horses (1970), along with previously unreleased songs inspired by: the failed sequel to suburban biker movie, Wild Hogs (2007); life at home; an assignment from a friend; and fear of death and earthquakes. Heidecker (Tom Goes to the Mayor, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Billion Dollar Movie, is also half of the soft rock band, Heidecker and Wood. 2012, edition of 500, vinyl only." - Orion Read |

Artist: DE SYDFYNSKE ALPEDRENGE Title: Solskinsliv Format: LP Label: Orpheus Country: Demark Price: $25.00 |
| "Unissued tapes of acoustic folkpsych from start 70s hippie environment. Moody acid-music with violin, flute, piano, congas, vibraphone, acoustic bass, guitars and drums creating a flowing and dreamy feel. Inspired by Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Ritchie Havens but with a far more experimental side to it. Transgressing jazz and artrock and incorporating Blues and poetry the band shows a broad variety in their selfpenned songs and generel musical approach. Recorded live at a castle in Odense at various sessions between 1972 and 1975. All songs written by Kjeld Andersen, a prime specimen of the Danish singer/songwriter sadly overlooked in his time. De Sydfynske Alpedrenge came out the youthclub "Cirklen" in Odense and was an important part of the underground scene there." - Orpheus. |

Evolving out of the first wave of Danish punks, featuring ex-members of a.o. SODS!!, BUT inspired by DOORS, LOVE, HENDRIX. Artist: TRIMBLE, BOBB Title: Life Beyond The Doghouse Format: LP Label: Orpheus Country: Germany Price: $24.00 |
|
"Its a very rare experience to be sucked into such an honest and fragile universe as Bobb Trimble`s. A space of its own, a musical experience on the other side of what people usually define as proper behavior. Psychedelic folk, real-people music, religious visions. Its hard to label Bobbs music. Life Beyond the Doghouse consists of previously unreleased studio recordings from 1983 and 1986. On side 1 Bobb is backed by his old backingband Violent Reactions from the LP Iron Curtain Innocence from 1980. Six years havent made the music more mainstream. Its so dark and its so lonely. The songs are desperate and have a strange dreamy atmosphere. Bobb is floating like an untouchable ghostlike entity through the darkness. And the voice... scary! Crippled Dog Band on side two is recordings from 1983. Fuzzguitar with adlib phaser. Uncontrolled microphone to all bandmembers. Punkrock attitude from first on. Psychedelic folkpunk with a lot of sounds thats really not supposed to be there. In spite of nearly 20 years in the cupboard it sounds just as fresh as on the day it was recorded." - Orpheus.

Artist: METZ Title: s/t Format: LP Label: Ossining Country: USA Price: $14.00 |
"Some will find it hard to believe that a glamrock band with a gritty urban veneer came from Texas and stuck together long enough to release this milestone record. Indeed, I was startled to learn that theyre from TX and not NYC or London. Clearly the underground music scene throughout Texas is fertile with talent and enough sociocultural diversity to support any genre, including mid-70s glamrock. Metz take on glam includes some of the associated cliches like heavy chunks of chord strokes and catchy riffs, danceable rhythms and beats, and a vocalist with some theatrical influence in the singing department. Besides the obvious, Metz bring some original flair that pushes their material over the top! Instead of the lead singer getting all the attention (he sounds like a cross between Marc Bolan and a less angry Johnny Rotten), its the two or three sassy black girls that steal the show with the best vocals (leads & harmonies) on the entire album. These streetwise babes strut along as they dish out extra servings of sex appeal during preformances, which is a scarce gender switch for glam rock. Metz also provide lots of mind-stripping guitar solos and untamed organ with hovering Lesle cabinets that occasionally drift into dark and gothic sound trips. All of the music is dance-friendly and some tracks have extended endings so you can have more time to boogie while too friend on ecstasy (note: MDMA was an underground nightclub drug around the Houston & Dallas areas during the 70s, and the drugs first market many years before psychotherapists and acid house fans realized its potential) to notice your dance partners adams apple or beastly back hair. Its an album way overdue for reissuing." - Scott "Loopden" Bubrig, ACID ARCHIVES."At one of these sales my partner Mark and I pulled out about 100 LPs for the grand total of like ten bucks. At ten cents a piece you can take a chance on anything that looks remotely interesting. One such score that day was an LP housed in a plain white jacket called "Metz" on the Chrome Starr label out of Houston. It had that certain look that made me want to rush home and give it a spin. As I was driving I asked Mark to pull it out of our stack and tell me what he thought it might be. It was one of those ultra thin pressings like what RCA produced in the 70s which indicated it had been pressed locally in Houston at a pressing plant known for this type of disc. Mark pulled the LP out of the jacket and said "Damn, this thing is so thin that I can bend it in….SNAP". The LP snapped right in half and man did I get pissed. He started to try to make me feel better with "It looks like its probably a crappy Disco record"….and…"This thing cant be any good, look at those song titles". I just had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that he may have just broke what could have been a monster unknown (but very thin) slab of vinyl. I got home and ran for the super glue, carefully piecing the LP back together with the hopes of at least being able to hear what it was like. I did a poor job of putting it back together as it was hard to place the very thin edges back together properly. I threw it on the turntable and my heart sank….it was a rock LP and what appeared to be a damn good one. After two songs I called Mark and cussed him out…"It sounds like Mott The Hoople if they were from Texas" I told him…"YOU SUCK!" I screamed before slamming down the receiver. It was very difficult to listen to the LP, only being able to hear bits and pieces, but enough to know I needed to find a better copy. My search began to find "Metz" assuming that was the name of the band. I called some of my music contacts in Houston but none of them had ever heard of the band or the LP. I called the pressing plant and they vaguely remembered the LP and told me they would look through their records and see what they could find. I spoke to a well known producer/studio owner who told me he remembered very little about it but thought Johnny Winter was involved. After a couple of months of digging I came to the conclusion that no one in the record collecting world had ever seen or heard this LP before and that Metz was the name taken by one John Metzler who had disappeared from the Houston music scene sometime in the 80s. My search petered out after hitting one brick wall after another and the LP never surfaced again until about 10 years later when my friend SB in New Orleans was able to secure a copy. Hearing it in its entirety for the first time confirmed that it was every bit as good, if not better, than I had imagined. The late 70s produced some great hard rock in the Lone Star State and way too little of it made its way to vinyl. Metz takes that hard rockin Tejas spirit to the next level by injecting the music with equal parts Glam and Dirty White Boy Funk and its about time the world got to hear it."- Rich Haupt, ROCKADELlC. |

| "Its kind of strange to think its been ten years since we first saw Sightings blowing minds and circuit breakers throughout the then fresh Brooklyn loft scene. Over the years, the band has taken that ball of blare they were initially known for and pulled it apart strand by strand and wire by wire to get to the transparent core of their sound while still retaining their disturbing qualities. Their past two full lengths, 2007s Through the Panama and 2010s City of Straw were obvious successful in this exploration, but Future Accidents really nails it in giving up the honest-to-god barebones goods. A rawer sprawl into the pregnant nowhere sound has yet to be waxed by these gents and ifn they ever do top this, Ill just utter the words I saw on the back of that pick-up truck the other day, HOT DAMN!" - Tony Rettman; Resident Blowhard, Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. |

Original, sealed copies of this stunning 10 LP series, which ran from 1969 to 1977. Primarily based around various vocal/sound poetry collaborations between two couples, Klyd and Linda Watkins and Peter and Patricia Harleman (solo or multilayered voice with very sparse instrumentation/effects), these LPs bridge the gap between private press "folkiness", Euro academic sound art, and desolate Jandek-like atmospheres. And strangely they managed to rope in Bernard Heidsieck, one of the founders of the sound poetry movement along with Henry Chopin and others, as well as the lesser known Françoise Janicot. Artist: GRIM TOWER Title: Anarchic Breezes Format: LP Label: Outer Battery Country: USA Price: $20.00 |
| "Grim Tower is the collaborative project of Stephen McBean (vocals/guitar/synths) and Imaad Wasif (vocals/guitar). The album, called Anarchic Breezes, was written around the central idea of a new acoustic death folk, yet could be heard as equal parts Harry Smith and Harry Pussy. Both songwriters, Canadians now based in Los Angeles, come together on Anarchic Breezes to explore a mutual interest in the darker traditions of song and detuning found in the American primitive archives. The album features the ancillary rhythm section of Rob Barbato (bass) and Dan Allaire (drums), also L.A. musicians with roots deep in the modern psych movement. Anarchic Breezes was recorded by S. McBean at his home studio, with additional recording by Rob Campanella at the Jonestown Studios. It contains nine originals and one cover, the obscure Leaving My Old Life Behind by Jonathan Halper as featured in Kenneth Angers Puce Moment. It was mixed by Mark Nevers (Will Oldham, Silver Jews, Calexico, Vic Chesnutt) at Beech House Studios in Nashville. The two voices on this album serve as mediums to a yet unheard music. Let the free ride the breeze." |

Artist: V/A Title: The Secret Museum of Mankind: Central Asia Format: Double LP Label: Outernational Country: USA Price: $27.00 |
| "...Ethnic Music Classics: 1925-48. Outernational Records is pleased to announce the fourth volume of this legendary series, now available on vinyl. This series of archival 78 transfers was originally released in 1995 on CD only. This volume from Central Asia has to be one of the most revelatory volumes yet presented. Concentrating on a singular geographic region, this volume unearths some of the rarest recorded artifacts of music from the Central Asian countries of Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Caucasus region, Tadjikistan, Azerbaijan and others. Of all the recent excavation projects inspired by our voracious musical culture, none is more fascinating than Pat Contes Secret Museum series for Yazoo. Until now, a Western listeners familiarity with ethnic music from the distant past has depended on unsexy field recordings of relatively recent vintage, produced in a spirit of near-scientific inquiry by anthropologically-minded musicologists. When the commercial record business really began to expand in the late 20s however, just about every national style of music was sought out and captured for a growing marketplace. This was true "world music," dressed in its Sunday best perhaps as performed by ambitious locals, but still more vital than the academic, folklorist approach that followed. Just as Harry Smith compiled early commercial blues and country records for his monumentally influential Anthology Of American Folk Music, so Conte has gathered even rarer 78s from all over the globe. Thanks to excellent remastering, we can hear vividly how an ensemble sounded in India or Japan more than a half-century ago or a klezmer orchestra right before the Nazis destroyed that bit of local culture. Its like owning your own time machine. Gorgeous gatefold Stoughton tip-on sleeves with newly-discovered vintage color photos not available on the original CD issue. This is a limited edition one-time pressing of 1,000 copies." -Outernational |

| "..double CD release in fine packaging of what are considered the best recordings of the most obscure group from Japan (if not the world); a lengthy band history follows, but here is the short version?Japanese radicals make big noise and put out very few records (in small batches), which makes them legends and makes the records very very expensive; the Live 77 is a document of extreme feedback and distressed guitar with Mizutanis detached vocals laid over languid rhythms-unbelivable in intensity, outpowering Fushitsusha as Japans ultimate rock band; some might call them the ego to the Taj Mahal Travellers id, while others would see in them the legitimate origin of the Acid Mothers Temple and all other Kawabata or Haino infused collective music of Japans recent past." - Over Level. |

"Second Rallizes bootleg on this label, the most "overground" of all Rallizes affiliated labels. "Legit" or "authorized" material from this mythical group is seen about as frequently as Loch Ness himself. There are only 2 words printed anywhere on this CD (besides the groups name): "live" and "1972". Say no more." - FE. "Live material from 1972. This band was a major inspiration to groups like High Rise, Kousokuya, Acid Mothers Temple and Keiji Haino. The absolute peak of Japanese psychedelia." Official description: "Early hand-held audience recordings (dig those tape flips!) from 1972. Frequently compared in sound and spirit to the Velvets and The Dead, for this slogged-out set Hawkwind may be more appropiate. Play it loud enough and youll think you are there, holding the mic..." - Over Level.

Artist: DOOR AND THE WINDOW, THE Title: Detailed Twang Format: CD Label: Overground Country: UK Price: $15.00 |
|
"Originally inspired by both the DIY ethic of the punk movement and the likes of Throbbing Gristle and File Under Pop, two friends Nag and Bendle decided to form The Door And The Window in March 79. They played with the Pop Group, Scritti Politti, Delta Five, Swell Maps and Raincoats. The line-up of the band was always fluid and sometime members included Fritz (23 Skidoo), Dennis Burns (ATV/Good Missionaries), Grant Showbiz (The Fall) and Giblet (49 Americans). In late 1979, Mark Perry, disillusioned by the constraints and expectations of Alternative TV joined the band as druumer and co-songwriter. "The punk movement had showed that to make music you didnt need to have first acquired some musical understanding and/or instrumental dexterity. Understanding that music has no unbreakable rules, and then proving this by breaking them, is a fine thing. But Nag and Bendle went further -- they refused to learn what the rules were in the first place. This lack of musical pretension is what still separates them from the all-too-knowing purveyors of whats called "experimental music". The Door And The Window were the true experimenters. They had the courage to skip all the theory and just pick up the instruments, to see what would happen." -- Igor. This CD complies for the first time on CD their album, singles and compilation appearances and contains sleeve notes from Nag, Bendle and Mark Perry." - Overground. Includes the LP, their first 2 EPs Dont Kill Colin and Production Line (featuring the track I Hate Sound which was the inspiration for the title of the I Hate The Pop Group comp), CCH from the Ankst In My Pants double 7 on Deleted and Number One Entertainer from the awesome Weird Noise EP on Fuck Off records. A true classic in the DIY underground - very highly recommended!!

Artist: RAVEN Title: Back To Ohio Blues Format: LP Label: Owl Country: USA Price: $34.00 |
|
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN -
I am most pleased to announce that despite decades of rumors to the
contrary.... RAVEN LIVES!!!! After he recorded and pressed 300 copies of the
legendary "Back to OHIO BLUES" LP in 1975 at Columbus, Ohios legendary Owl
Studios, (of which you are now holding the only LEGITIMATE reissue) he split
for California and later joined the Armed Forces and ended up in Europe,
recording what he calls Basement tapes. Raven (he prefers his real name be
kept anonymous for now) still writes songs and goofs off alot in his studio.
According to family sources, hes been working with a few people on (
Believe this or not RAVEN BACK TO OHIO BLUES TWO ).
So when recently informed of the Mythical status of this LP of 30-some years
ago,(which sells for well over $IOOO a copy), he laughed heartily. Makes
sense considering that back in the day he NEVER SOLD A SINGLE COPY ; it was
a pure vanity press which he made to give away to friends and whoever
cared to listen!! and so his amusement is certainly understandable. Recorded
with the help of musician friends who never performed live together, only
during these studio sessions. Raven is one of the classic D.I.Y. characters
who never really had much use for the "Rock N Roll Dream Machine" of being
a rockstar. He made the music because it was INSIDE of him & needed to be
expressed, the true measure of all forms of genius (in my "Hummel" opinion).
Like a shark has to swim to breathe, Raven had to record his honest
gut-wrenching creations, perhaps exorcising his demons onto wax one could
say. Anyone who has already heard this amazing Psyched-out Blues Rock
classic KNOWS just what a beast he unleashed on an unsuspecting world, and
now YOU dear reader have an opportunity to hear for yourself the awesome
angst -driven RAW POWER that is "Back To Ohio Blues".
One question many of you may have is, "Is there MORE of this stuff yet
unreleased?" and the answer is... YES!!! A release of this material is also
in the offing so keep your ears peeled for a future Raven release too!
Personally I cant wait, and I consider being one to help spread this Good
News a true honor. Its great to know Raven is alive & well and again ready
to spring his unique sounds upon an unwary world! - hopefully this time
around, the world is ready." - Mike "Rep" Hummel/Old Age/No Age. Signed and numbered by Raven. Previously "unoffically" reissued by Rockadelic. Highly recommended!

Artist: ALPHA STRATEGY/ PROJEKT STINKA Title: Muck Format: LP Label: Ownness Country: Canada Price: $10.00 |
"Featuring Projekt STINKA (Hana Lundiaková, Czech Republic) and Alpha Strategy (Rory Hinchey, Canada), the Muck EP split offers singular, off-kilter pop from the new projects of these two varied artists. Hana Lundiakovás graceful accordion playing and deep, unrestrained vocals in her native Czech provide the foundations for a perfectly realized pair of folk-inspired, yet pop-flavored songs. Having busied herself for over 10 years playing accordion in diverse Czech punk outfits such as Redbeard, Tři sestry, and Treněr Norủ, along with keyboards in experimental group Kaspar von Urbach, STINKA is Lundiakovás first project under her own direction. Here, she is joined by Martin Černý (Redbeard) who lends his production talents, bass and guitar work, all with a definite Morricone-esque flair. Author of the critically acclaimed experimental prose collection Vrhnout (2010), journalist, editor, mother, and visual artist, Hana Lundiaková continues forward with a chaotic production schedule. Current activities include a forthcoming body of her erotic literature, an illustrated childrens book, and further live performances in the Czech Republic and abroad. Utilizing a combination of primitive oscillating circuits, vintage synthesizers, shouted vocals, and loops lifted from 1960s schlager, Alpha Strategy delivers music which is volatile and convulsive, yet meticulously arranged.." -Ownness. Incredible cover artwork from Graham Lambkin.

Artist: V/A Title: OZ Days Format: Double CD Label: OZ Country: Worlds Leading Terrorist State Price: $20.00 |
| "New CD reissue of the super-rare 1973 2LP set commemorating the Oz Days benefit festival for the owner of Tokyos legendary Oz Rock Cafe, which had been shut down after one too many drug busts. (Japrocksampler). Without a single doubt, this is one of the holy grails of the Japanese early seventies lysergic psych scene, together with Speed Glue & Shinki, Sato Masahiko & Soundbreakers and People/Ceremony. Privately released in a tiny edition on the Oz Records label way back in 1973, the original artifact was and is till this day the only legitimate recording on vinyl to feature the Rallizes and Acid Seven, in addition to a side each from Minami Masato and the legendary Taj Mahal Travellers. Each of the four bands has a whole side to their disposal onto which they were allowed to open up the sonic floodgates to Valhalla. The music is completely stellar, mind-boggling and just jaw-droppingly great, leaving you, the listener, gasping for air on several moments while spinning this disc since your vital organs will just forget to function properly upon being exposed to this archeological sonic gem. Kosugis clitter-clatter Fluxus-induced ramshackle psychedelic drone unit the Taj Mahal Travelers put down a stunning outer-worldly and almost transcendental performance, and the Rallizes venture into an ephedrine soaked sub-linear universe of ear ripping feedback and slowed down stroboscopic madness. Authentic packaging, with hand-stamped outer bag and gatefold insert. The Les Rallizes Denudes and Taj Mahal Travellers sides have been briefly reissued before -- heres the complete picture!" | "180 gram vinyl, gatefold sleeve. The title obviously is a reworking of Clear Spot - Translucent Fresnel (Fresnel is a spotlight). From the late 1960s through to 1980 John Peel collected tapes of recordings of Captain Beefhearts live shows, particularly ones in the UK. During a tidy up at Nan Trues Hole in 2003 he discovered around six large reels of tape containing many of Beefhearts live UK performances and he sent these on to Ozit Morpheus Records. Artist: FASENUOVA/ANGELDUST Title: Split Format: LP Label: Ozonokids Country: Spain Price: $14.00 |
| "Split between Fasenuova (Spain) and Angeldust (USA). Fasenuova is conceived by Ernesto Avelino and Roberto Lobo in year 2006 under the names Hegemonía or Goodbye. Active almost secretly since early 90s, making use of synthesizers and modulators. Dynamic rough waves go along drum-machine generated beats. The lyrics, all of them in spanish bring you to the most bizarre and surrealistic corners of your brain, thru the melodic cricked vocals of frontman Ernesto Avelino. Angeldust is formed by three characters in the greyest warehouse in the american East Coast: Robert Francisco, Nate Davis and Jacob Anodide. Defenitely a noise industrial band has only released cassettes and CDRs up until the dates. Has toured Europe, Spain and the US extensively. They spit out intense feedback, fuzzadelic howls, drum-machine malfunction and string instruments build from different kinds of junk, always accompanied of the gnarliest lyrics. Aggressive and extremely wild. Record cover consists in a disco bag, one ink silk-screened cover with drawing by Robert Francisco. Limited to 250 copies in black, hand numbered and 250 copies in white, also hand-numbered. Art by: Robert Francisco |

Artist: JOSETXO GRIETA Title: Art of Distraction Format: LP Label: Ozonokids Country: Spain Price: $14.00 |
|
"Josetxo Grieta was the fusion of Josetxo Anitua, Mattin and Iñigo Eguillor. This art assault group based in Bilbao (Basque Country) had been confusing minds all over the iberian peninsula, a provocation through performance acts, deep fried computer electronics, psychological noise, etc. Using random techniques and creating awkwardness wherever they went whenever they wanted to. This LP, their first and only release on vinyl and our "official" release number 13 was hand-crafted, analogically mastered and only 300 copies have been pressed on solid black vinyl. Misteriously lost in the mail for months until June 2008. Josetxo Grieta disbanded in year 2008 after the death of Josetxo Anitua. So this record is dedicated to him. Art by: Arnau Sala" -Ozonokids

Artist: WEIRDING MODULE/ARNAU SALA Title: Split Format: Cass Label: Ozonokids Country: Spain Price: $8.00 |
| "20 minutes shared between Weirding Module and Arnau Sala, limited to 100. This one has taken a while. W.M. is a master at twirling frecuencies, making endless psychedelic loops out of foggy synthesizer grooves. Just like walking into a smokey cave and finding out youre over the edge to outer space. My songs in this one are mostly generated thru internal feedback and lots of oscillator fuzz, strong classic industrial reminiscences it ends up getting kind of weird. Even vocals in one of the songs in a sort of paranoid-creep-teenager kind of way. It never really gets too harsh. Covers are two inks silk-screened on black cardboard with a little paper insert." -Ozozokids |
