Artist: MAHER SHALAL HASH BAZ Title: Cest La Derniere Chanson Format: Double CD Label: K Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "Tori Kudo, the conductor and band leader of MAHER SHALAL HASH BAZ, fuses stray elements of pop, folk, jazz and experimental music into pieces of candid musical gestures. Cest La Derniere Chanson is a double album of songs composed by Kudo between 2005-2007. For the recordings, Kudo assembled nine musicians from Japan and bunkered down for six days in St. Pierre-Eglise, France. Bassoon, guitar, drums, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, glass percussion, organ, rocks and sticks are expanded by a sophisticated counter-repetition technique into an extensive tonal range of colors; the effect is at turns serene, dissonant, enchanting, crisp, spacious and maddeningly catchy. The future of music on Planet Earth. Listen closely, please." - K Records. |

Artist: MAHER SHALAL HASH BAZ Title: LAutre Cap Format: LP Label: K Country: USA Price: $12.50 |
|
"Composing his music to be played by amateur musicians, TORI KUDO, the enigmatic conductor of MAHER SHALAL HASH BAZ, has been called "The Master of Mistake". On LAutre Cap he is a wickedly inspired bandleader, presenting a tight package of twenty-seven songs both fierce and fragile. Barely held together by the threads these songs seem just a note away from falling apart completely. The effect is at turns serene, dissonant, enchanting, rockin, and intensively catchy-fusing the most captivating elements of twisted jazz, psychedelic rock rebellion, and dreamy pop chamber music to form a most intimate and cohesive vision of the future of music on Planet Earth." - K.

Artist: BITCHIN BAJAS Title: Water Wrackets Film Score Format: LP/DVD Label: Kallistei Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "It appears that the well-guarded secret of the past year is out. Last summer COOPER CRANE of BITCHIN BAJAS & CAVE was asked to score a remake of the classic short film Water Wrackets (1975) originally directed by legendary British filmmaker, PETER GREENAWAY. Artists/filmmakers GABRIELLE GOPINATH and BENJAMIN FUNKE (Captcha Records) will be releasing the fruits of this project on their new fine art label, Kallistei. After only viewing a 30 second clip of the upcoming film, Cooper composed a wonderfully enlightened vision of this project that would make both Terry Riley and collaborator Bruce Conner to happy to see the torches being passed. It is fascinating to see someone this talented work through the conceptual landscape of a project and create something this beautiful and intriguing. Cooper in the depth of his practice, harmonized perfectly and completely on this recording. Packged in tip-on style gatefold sleeves with DVD and poster included." - Kallistei |

Artist: HIGNEY, KENNETH Title: Attic Demonstration Format: CD Label: Kebrutney Country: USA Price: $14.00 |
| "Kenneth Higney was a struggling singer-songwriter when he cut Attic Demonstration in 1976, a demo record of such massive outsider vision that it dropped straight into the void, as well as the deep pockets of a band of committed record collectors. Initially intended as a calling card to help him get his songs covered by other artists, Higney soon branched out into selling the disc as an actual album, placing low key ads in a couple of NY papers and sending out a bunch of review copies. Only Trouser Press took the bait, saluting Attic Demonstrations "cross between Lou Reed and Neil Young without the aid of melody." Now officially available for the first time, Attic Demonstration is one of the most endearing and intensely human real people discs to turn up for a while, boasting Modern Lovers-styled road ballads sung with a Jagger-esque snear and propelled on pegleg rhythms that would do The Shaggs proud, through meandering tonal wastelands where Higneys eye-wateringly unarmoured vocals are supported by minimal chord patterns that progress according to the position of the stars. Best of all is the addition of both sides of Higneys funk/punk tribute single, where he namechecks contemporaries like The Dead Boys and Johnny Thunders and rhymes "dirty downtown bar" with "the sissy music of John Denver". Almost too good to be true." - David Keenan; The Wire. "New Jersey open wounds real person basement psych damage strums with buzzfuzz bursts. mix of Spencian floaters and warped rhythm ravers. At times sounds like 1/2 Japanese doing Cale-era Modern Lovers outtakes. way lost no-fi monsterdom..." - Ron Moore. Official CD reissue of this 1976 classic. Includes tracks from his 1980 7" release. Highly recommended! Restocked yet again.. |

Artist: DECIMUS/HOBO SONN Title: s/t Format: LP Label: Kelippah Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "In an era where compositional abstract music has been co-opted by studious arrangers obsessed with process, where forbearers have been kidnapped by pop stars, and where the noiseniks have all turned to techno beats, this split lp by Decimus (Pat Murano) and Hobo Sonn (Ian Murphy) presents a triumphant return to the frayed and dangerous inner world of outsider sound exploration and reproduction. Both artists have crafted individual soundscapes that reek of the cinematic, while eschewing both pastiche and canonized musical reference points to create a unique inverted cosmos. Presented over two sides of vinyl each suite of music almost perfectly mirrors the other. Where Deciumus uses synthetic devices to create warped, nightmarish representations of organic, everyday sounds (creaky floorboards, a heartbeat, rats squeaking, camera shutters clicking, a taunting feral animal cry), Hobo Sonn places field recordings of actual sounds (foot falls, birds, insects, automobiles) in a dark and drifting world that feels very much like a waking bad dream. If the Decimus side feels like a descent into the end of ones days, then perhaps Hobo Sonns side is the reality we face once we cross over. Or perhaps it is the other way around. There is not a payoff to be found within these vibrating grooves, instead you are invited from the opening seconds of each side to be a part of a parallel world, one that perhaps lives right around the next darkened corner, or at the periphery of your eyesight. Like real life, the peaks happen subtly, when you are not paying attention, and leave you in a different place than you were when you started. Another deeply personal release from the Kellipah label." - Jason Meagher Limited to 300 lps. Jackets silk-screened by Phil Franklin and Christine Shields at Bright Spot Ink. |

Artist: NO NECK BLUES BAND Title: CINo 51 Format: LP Label: Kelippah Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
|
"Previously, a boy dreams the dreams of many other boys. He meets three other boys and they dream together. Sadly, one of his co-dreamers dreams become nightmare. In an effort to avoid seeing their own dreams relegated back to sleeping, our hero and his fair dreaming compatriots leave their troubled friend to face his nightmares on his own. His nightcap is quickly filled and the boys march forward, eventually seeing all of their dreams made manifest.
In this installment our boy has become a man too accustomed to living his boy dreams. When he places his head upon his pillow these days there is nothing, as if there is nothing left to dream of. Perhaps his conspirators sense this? They dream apart now and our heros empty nights only serve to marginalize him from these other boys. Our man must be gifted with powers beyond the ordinary because, much as his boy dreams had become real, so too his man dreams of emptiness soon become his waking life. Unlike his lost troubled co-dreamer from years past, his nightmares are far too mundane for anyone to care about. He dies this way.
Special thanks to Charlie Gilmour, millionaire.
Hand painted in iondine." - Kelippah. |
|
Artist: NO NECK BLUES BAND Title: YTIU Format: LP Label: Kelippah Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
| "No Neck Blues Band are the last of their kind, children of a New York City that no longer exists. Theyve operated in the shadows of Gothams music scene for almost 20 years as likely to perform in art galleries as loft spaces. No Neck Blues Band are revolutionaries, carrying on the search for freedom through improvisation that began after Coltrane liberated jazz. But No Neck Blues Band dont play jazz per se, or any other known idiom for that matter. Their sound has its precedents most notably the genre-blurring, early-70s work of Englands Third Ear Band and German groups Exmagma and recent co-conspirators Embryo. No Neck Blues Band further those explorers investigations of non-Western sounds by infusing them with psychedelic-rock dynamics, the tenets of minimalism and Fluxus-inspired performance. Each No Neck Blues Band record is a spontaneously composed ritual containing a variety of hard-to-pronounce acoustic instruments, unmoored percussion, guitars, keyboards and various electronics, at once familiar and exotic. While a few members have come and gone, No Neck Blues Band is Keith Connolly, Michiko, Jason Meagher, Pat Murano, David Nuss and David Shuford. No Neck Blues Band activity has been sparse in recent years since their celebrated rehearsal/performance space in Harlem, The Hint House, fell victim to gentrification. Recorded in 2009 at Faust Studios in Germany, YTIU is the avant-gangs latest offering and finds them in one of their more accessible moods. Only during the second half of Side As Platinum Willows does the band indulge its tendency for atonality. YTIUs second side fittingly dedicated to departed Pink Floyd member Richard Wright is a keyboard-dominated stunner that is more Saucerful of Secrets than The Wall. Mixed by Murano and released in an edition of 300 copies (vinyl, naturally) on his own label, Kelippah, YTIU is another exceptional document by one of the most vital bands New York City has ever birthed. Stream it below, and head here to see if there are any copies left."- Jeff Conklin, East Village Radio. Hand painted with iodine and Aqua-Net. Highly recommended!! |

Artist: RAAJMAHAL Title: s/t Format: LP Label: Kelippah Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
|
"Its a mournful processional as guitar notes and gentle echo match the timbre of weeping voices. This is cast-your-body-on-the-casket shades of slobbery meditation, though the Eastern influence finds Raajmahal resembling the overcrowded Ganges rather than a stuff funeral plot. Youll bathe in it alongside floating bodies, as they wade in centuries of bones, flesh and sacrifice. I want to turn to ash with Raajmahal guiding me to eternal light" Justin Spicer, Tiny Mix Tapes.

Artist: SAFIYYA Title: s/t Format: LP Label: Kelippah Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "Safiyya is Brad Rose (Charlatan/The North Sea) and Pat Murano (NNCK/Decimus). Born of a correspondence between two fellows entrenched in parallel explorations of the unknowable and imagined, theres a mystery to the source of the sounds contained in these grooves; a mystery that reaches the top of chain, as the players involved have never met, did not discuss individual process, nor the direction of their collaborative endeavors. There is not even a record of the machines used to create this shadowy sci-fi landscape. What the listener is presented with is music that reverberates like synthetic sound made into organic instruments imitating synthetic sound. It is a fantasy world that feels a little bit too much like a version of reality with dark bags under its eyes and strange stains on its clothing. Its the music you hear after the anesthesia drip gets turned on, right before you succumb to that infernal waking sleep. Theres a clarity to the recording, a depth of field that seems normal, but with a bit more scrutiny, is unsettling and disorienting. Theres a narrative, almost cinematic or like a soundtrack to an Evanson story, but like any pinnacle of modern horror, once you catch ahold of that thread, your brain begs you to let go. The music is devoid of terroir, a fantastic blend of east and west, modern and classical, lending once again to the creeping sensation that the rabbit hole is way up there, far, far from where youve landed." - Jason Meagher. Limited to 300 lps. Jackets silk-screened by Phil Franklin and Christine Shields at Bright Spot Ink. |

Artist: LAZLAUD, ARNAUD Title: Elan / Le Malade Roi Format: 7" Label: Kernkrach Country: Germany Price: $13.00 |
|
"The translucent red record opens with "Le Malade Roi." As soon as the needle touches this 7" sublime synthlines are offered from the speakers. Vocals are contributed by Xavier Paradis, vocals that blend seamlessly with the crisp beats and a solid tempo to produce a track that would warm any club floor. "Le Malade Roi" is a piece that captures the addictive analog sound of quality New Wave, blending some heartbreak lyrics with some pure electro sound. Synthesizers flow onto the flipside with "Elan." A clean and warm drumulator style backing props up some amazing analogue work before vocal slide in. Once more, that addictive and magnetic aspect is there as choice melodies are combined with deep lyrics. The track comes to a close with a fantastic, energy filled synthesizer solo; bringing this lovely New Wave snippet to a close.
There can be only one complaint with Arnaud Lazlauds release, it is too short. Two tracks is a tease. These pieces are what New Wave was, and what it can still be; music that calls the listener back again and again. Two tracks are not enough, and more is needed. But, this is hardly an issue to gripe about. This is the height of recommendation and endorsement.... Hardy congratulations to artist and label are deserved, but such quality must be maintained and this can be easier said than done." - Igloo Magazine. Limited edition in "taped bandage" cover.

Lou Reed, Sterling Morrison, Maureen Tucker and Doug Yule (whod replaced John Cale a full year previously) had developed into a sensationally tight and adventurous quartet, and this show -- the first of two recorded on consecutive nights before a tiny audience in Dallas, Texas -- is unquestionably one of the finest surviving documents of them in performance. Artist: SUN RA Title: This Planet Is Doomed: The Science Fiction Poetry of Sun Ra Format: Book Label: Kicks Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "This Planet Is Doomed, which collects the science-fiction poetry of Sun Ra, exploded into the stratosphere on 7/7/11, an auspicious day for numerologists and doomsday enthusiasts alike. 7/7 coincides historically with the detonation of 20 kiloton Little Feller II, the first of the last four above ground nuclear warhead tests conducted in the US. The date will also evidence interstellar overdrive when Saturn, Pluto, Uranus and Venus form an intense and rare alignment known as the Cardinal Grand Cross. This Planet Is Doomed serves up a traumatic torrent of future shock--deeply personal and critical commentary and unsettling advice to the people of Earth, who fail to acknowledge this planets role in the universe. Poet Amiri Barakas estimable foreword, together with science fiction historian Bhob Stewarts revealing introduction, set the stage for the heavy dose of the real and the unreal, which are delivered in the pages of This Planet Is Doomed. This book was collected from tape recordings and transcriptions culled from the Sun Ra Archives by director Michael Anderson, who worked with Norton Records to compile a total of six albums -- three collections of rare and unissued music recordings (on LP and CD) plus a trio (vinyl only) of unissued spoken word Sun Ra LPs. This Planet Is Doomed was expanded with the addition of several key lost poems which appear here for the first time." - Kicks. |

Artist: DELTA 5 Title: Singles & Sessions 1979-81 Format: CD Label: Kill Rock Stars Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
| 2006 release. "Part of the Leeds/UK art/music scene in the late 70s that launched The Gang of Four and The Mekons, Delta 5 was signed to Rough Trade after only a few months in existence, and released their first single recording, Mind Your Own Business/Now That Youve Gone in 1979. No less an authority than legendary BBC host and producer John Peel received an advance copy of the single and played it twice that same night. He then requested that the band do a Sessions gig for him and the band was officially on its way. Relentless gigging with The Gang of Four, Echo and the Bunnymen, B52s, Specials, Teardrop Explodes, and U2 put the band on the map worldwide. They continued touring and recording until various members departed in late 1981, when they recorded one last single and then broke up for good in 1982." - Kill Rock Stars. |
|
Artist: ESSENTIAL LOGIC Title: Fanfare In The Garden Format: Double CD Label: Kill Rock Stars Country: USA Price: $19.00 |
| "Essential Logics old and new music is fresh, complex, and irresistible. Indirectly, via the legacy of the post-punk indie scene and particularly the role women took for themselves in it, Lora and her band/brand name changed the world. If youve never heard this incredible group, you have definitely been hearing echoes (Bjork springs to mind, unavoidably, but so do the new no-wavers of New York) for the past twenty years. And now you get the real thing." - Kill Rock Stars |
|
Artist: GRASS WIDOW Title: Past Time Format: LP Label: Kill Rock Stars Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
| ""Influenced by similarly all-female punk and post-punk acts like The Neo Boys and Kleenex, Grass Widow also note Roy Woods The Move and The Kinks as a major source of inspiration. This can all be heard on Past Time along with the three-part harmonies, complex arrangements and odd chord progressions. Grass Widow is also influenced by a legacy of women who have paved the way through their music and politics. Their collaborative songwriting process, the fact that they dont have a front person and that they all equally contribute to the work of the band speaks to this philosophy. In addition, they take the opportunity as an all female band to bring attention to the roles of spectacle and spectator in their scene and make a conscious effort to play shows where women are involved." -Kill Rock Stars |
|
Artist: CHEVEU Title: 1000 Format: LP Label: Kill Shaman Country: USA Price: $18.00 |
| "Paris, Frances CHEVEUs newest release 1000 shows a much more polished and slicker sound than their previous releases, portraying the bands growth and adventurous, other-worldly style. Thats not to say it doesnt sound like a Cheveu album, which is usually pretty damned difficult to pinpoint anyhow. Expect a whole new foray of sounds that include full horn arrangements, crazy RUN DMC-style beats, and the usual flurry of noisy electronics and Rolling Stones-type blues riffs. Limited to only 1,000 copies on black vinyl in the US and Canada, co-released by Kill Shaman in the US/Canada and Born Bad in Europe. Amazing cover art made out of fruit stickers and other fun stuff. Love it." - Kill Shaman. |
|
Artist: DICTAPHONE Title: S/T Format: LP Label: Kill Shaman Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
| "The brand new self-titled album full of Residents gone punk tracks that lean towards simple intertwining rhythms with a futuristic spin from Frances DICTAPHONE. Definitely along the lines of Rodent Plague, The Feeling Of love,or Cheveu but with a darker and more aggressive twist. Previous 7-inch released by Sweet Rot." -Kill Shaman |

Artist: FACTUMS Title: Spells and Charms Format: CD Label: Kill Shaman Country: USA Price: $10.00 |

|
Artist: FEELING OF LOVE Title: OK Judge Revival Format: LP Label: Kill Shaman Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
| "The newest LP from Metz, Frances FEELING OF LOVE is a blues-wrangling nightmare, full of nods to THE JOHN SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION, THE VELVET UNDERGROUND, and French glue-wavers CRASH NORMAL. This newest full-length studio album is an awesome follow up to their first LP and the one-sided 12-inch from last few years. Songs include amazing slide guitar riffs over drum machines, synths and tight rhythm section. This album is a complete reminder of why we have such a fondness for their first few releases and 7-inches; their tracks are driving grooves with a wild blues edge, all followed up with that magical French synthesis that delivers a "cant miss" experience. Awesome cover art, printed sleeves and limited to our usual 500 copies on black vinyl." - Kill Shaman. |
|
Artist: FLIGHT Title: s/t Format: 10" Label: Kill Shaman Country: USA Price: $13.00 |
| "Mississippis one-man band Flight is back with his second ever release, a self-titled 10? EP on Kill Shaman. A perfect medley of 70s glam, 80s punk and 60s psych, Flight applies a fist-pumping lo-fi pop sensibility that is over-distorted, punchy, and punk as fuck. Contains four distinct tracks that completely distinct and kills the inner ear. With the volume turned up to the max, this blown-out and distorted piece of wax will be sure to please any fans of Live Fast Die, Cheap Time, Jesus and Mary Chain and anything else that shreds while maintaining a deeply seeded sense of pop-punk. Think of it as the perfect medium for early 90s fuzz-gaze and 70s glam punk." - Kill Shaman. |

Artist: HIROSHIMA ROCKS AROUND/ BIPOLAR BEARS Title: Split Format: LP Label: Kill Shaman Country: USA Price: $14.00 |

|
Artist: LOVE TAN Title: Miscellaneous Night Feelings Format: LP Label: Kill Shaman Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "LOVE TAN used to be called PYRAMIDS, but have recently decided to change their name. Hailing from Seattle, Washington, this duo incorporate a wide variety of sounds and rhythms. The vocals range from falsetto to baritone, the guitar can sound sparse or punishingly full, and the drumming can go from methodical to off-kilter, and all in the same song. This is their debut LP." -Kill Shaman |
|
Artist: NERVE CITY Title: I Fucked Death Format: 10" Label: Kill Shaman Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "Nerve City s first large-format vinyl release brings us 6 brilliant tracks on a 45 RPM 10″ EP. Jason Boyer s home recording project mixes low-fi garage, classic doo-wop, noise and reverb to produce a perfect blend of fuzzed out, toe-tappin , head-bangin garage pop. Boyer s home-recording techniques lend themselves to Nerve City s sound, driving the truly dark and minimal tracks to develop into reverb-laden, distortion buried pop gems. This is Virginia s finest export right after tobacco." - Kill Shaman |
|
Artist: PINK NOISE Title: Graffiti Youth Format: LP Label: Kill Shaman Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "The Pink Noises 3rd(?) full-length LP. A follow up to their great releases on Sacred Bones and Almost Ready. Awesome, pulsing lo-fi synths surrounded by dirty drum machines and distorted vocals from this Canadian two-piece. Highly recommended if you ever enjoyed the Residents or anything in that vein. A bit dirtier and more analog than some of their previous work, Graffiti Youth is 12 tracks of pure analog noisy synth pop. Limited to 500 copies on black vinyl, this will go fast." - Kill Shaman. |
|
Artist: RODENT PLAGUE Title: Blue Wave Format: 7" Label: Kill Shaman Country: USA Price: $5.00 |
| "Rodent Plague is the home project of Erin Sullivan, singer and guitarist of the A-Frames and AFCGT. His solo recordings are wildly different from the post-apololyptic and angular punk of A-Frames, however the underlying sentiments of death, destruction and horror still remain. Rodent Plague songs are composed from guitars, synths, drum machines and other reandom sounds to build an eerie kind of angular surf sound. Imagine if Brian Wilson was raised in the poltergeist house and recorded an album. Seriously evil black vinyl with evil black sleeves and black songs that will relax and mystify you at the same time." -Kill Shaman |
|
Artist: SHARP ENDS Title: S/T Format: LP Label: Kill Shaman Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
| "Calgary, Canadas SHARP ENDS have released their first LP on Kill Shaman. After two amazing 7-inches that moved at light speed on Hozac and Mammoth Cave, Sharp Ends spent the next 9 months writing and recording the ten tracks that have been lovingly smashed into wax for this fine release. The LP contains some of the finest post-punk weirdness ever heard, channelling bits of 80s British No Wave and colliding it with a Dischord-like agressive aesthetic, Sharp Ends have a real winner here. Recordeed by RYAN SADLER, mixed by the band, and mastered by GABE DUDES; these ten tracks will blow out your eardrums. Limited to 500 copies on black vinyl only, 45 RPM." -Kill Shaman |

| "Tore H. Boe should by all rights be well known to you all from his many years as a performing artist. Sometimes in various Origami fractions, sometimes in different hotshot bands and sometimes on his own, as he is on this single. Alone Tore specialises in micromanipulations. Glitch without a Laptop. Artist: GERMAN Title: Bunker Format: CDR Label: Killertree Country: USA Price: $8.00 |
| "Some trusta-irie chump sprawls his curry n¢ cloves apartment scent out in to the alley, jammin¢ Marley¢s "Could you be loved" and ready to give "great and good love" to some skinny-minnie broad (yeah, dreads) when the vibe gets reamed by trash can arguements and a scattered transmission (car), hurling down this sweaty purgatory. The doors/windows get locked and the trustas don¢t emerge for days from fear. Fear from music, man. German (Julian from skull-crushin¢ The Pope/L.A.) Give some unsettling electronic scabage - kinda like when The Residents were cutting their teeth on homemade sound devices, toss in some undanceable New Wave Hookers styled revelry, pull the plug on vision and fuck off to the rest of the kingdom. |
Artist: MORDECAI Title: s/t Format: LP Label: Killertree Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
|
Latest on Bryan Ramirez (Universal Indians, Ex-Cocaine, etc) Montana-based Killertree label. Silkscreened edition of 300. "Mordecai is a band made of vintage parts hammered together in a dilapidated garage by youthful mad scientists. Its a familiar sound if you know the Stooges, or if you know Poison 13s Tim Kerr and his numerous Texas garage rock reincarnations: grungy, almost falling apart, full of cool sneering vocals. Dont mistake Mordecai for indie hipster. This is real underground. Its how you feel when you thought life was all about the Stones and then you heard the Cramps—that kind of shiver up the spine. The Butte bands new album from local Killer Tree Records boasts nine songs with simple names like "Light," "Iodine," and "Horse" plus the occasional two-letter title, as in "Blow Happy." Its the kind of thing you can do the twist to, but more sinsister. Brothers Holt and Elijah Bodish dont hold back from messiness. Especially on "Seatbelt," where the screech of fingers across frets and cacaphonous solos make it a hungry, honest collection best heard on vinyl since it was recorded in an 80-year-old YMCA in Butte."

Artist: NOLAN & RAMIREZ Title: s/t Format: CDR Label: Killertree Country: USA Price: $8.00 |
| "Crusty and dusted. Pete Nolan and Bryan Ramirez bust movements for the cement licker prone to waking on cold concrete in iced darkness - the blurred vision barely notices a red orb/eye slowly blinking. Analog groans, grunts and shambles. Lights off, below zero weather when the air shatters. Fuckin bag pipes on the first tune w/ Nolans drum attack sets a weird tone. The rest is just weird and gone." -Killertree. |

Artist: PLANTS Title: Dunn/Olson/Ramirez - 12/15/93 Format: LP Label: Killertree Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "1993 - we got our cherries busted with youth noise and desperate freedom. It was a call for musical separation from everything that plugged in and we fuckin got it. We (Jeff Dunn, John Olson & Bryan Ramirez) met many evenings per week for over a year solid, most likely cranked around 200 sessions all recorded on 90 minute tapes - roughly 9000 minutes - all ground into dust, gone. Shit was molded in the walls of 1610 Kzoo St. Lansing, MI, or ransacked by noise bums, or recorded over. But, there was one that got away from the doomhole - a second generation cassette. The recording was at 6am before Ramirez was to catch a flight to Florida - road cone gravity bongs sent this fucker into sleepy-eyed wee-mugs that filed along towards school - periodically glancing at the house to hear this horrendous alien arguement thundering from sax/drums/guitar/keys all aligned in the rocket room. The recording is shattering. Minced analog skreedom recklessly curing informal ills and breaking windows from pure soundwave pressure. Free sound from the early years all innocent-like. Pure and demented is pure demented freedom. Screened covers - killer liners/history lesson by John Olson - limited run." -Killertree. |

Artist: PLANTS Title: s/t Format: CDR Label: Killertree Country: USA Price: $8.00 |
| "Not much to remember about 1993 ?? other than discovering Dead C and several seasons of meeting up with Jeff Dunn and John Olson at 1610 Kalamazoo St in Lansing MI ?? in the rocket room (upstairs, middle room) and the attempt to fill every floating atom with solid sound. We firstly prepared with weed ?? from the pipe to the 2 liter gravity bong to the milk jug gravity bong then graduating to the road cone gravity bong. Jeff would play guitar, Olson would play drums, sax, or perhaps guitar, Ramirez usually played guitar but on this session, keyboards and tapes. It would always be a solid blowout, no escape from the sound with everything always colliding and creating languages, stories or whatever. It was pointless to play live (we did once ?? in a pitch black basement days after Cobain tapped out, with only one person in attendance who was tripping hard). It was a good self-indulgence figuring that no one would get it or give a shit so Plants was a Gents Club for weirdos and destructos. This particular splot happened on 12/15/93 at around 6am in the morning (I had a morning flight to catch). The session creeped out of the shingles and into the ears of passerby schoolchildren who looked at the house as if it were levitating. This session was messed up and bent as usual, full on vintage scree manipulation of our instruments the only unordinary thing was that it was in daylight. No songs, just attempting fill every corner and crack with sonic abuse and then when the session ends ?? we just stare at each other with creeper grins like we just built an orb and sent it out in to space in hopes of other life forces intercepting it instead of whatever NASA sends into space to reach out to other worlds. Our orb holds truer ?? reflecting chaos in our world. Plants reflects some messed up shit, but it??s good shit. Note* This is not the same two-piece current band "Plants" from Portland, OR" - Bryan Ramirez. |

Artist: POOR SCHOOL Title: Dream For Mat Format: CDR Label: Killertree Country: USA Price: $8.00 |
| "Bros help out with sending fallen comrade to the invisible river in the sky by connecting via radio waves via free sound jazz wiff Sax/Drums/Guitar tapping into Art Ensemble/Sun Ra/Slayer/Black Flag. Solidly from the heart, soul and from the grime of the basement recorded in. Screwed up improv meant for desolate rivers, dreaming mountains and angry citizens ready for the takeover. Take it." - Killertree. |

Artist: POOR SCHOOL/WIGGWAUM Title: Split Format: LP/CDR Label: Killertree Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "There¢s no reason for Jazz not to attack - a split for all seasonz - SF¢s Wiggwaum terrorize the fuck outta sensibility and give no ga-damned reason for the scars - free sound IS supposed to make it feel not so right and this particular declaration is just the shit bomb hurled from many stories from above. Sometimes it¢s a Manson orgy audio buried in Death Valley, other times it¢s blissful fuckin¢ peaches falling from a Krishna tree. SF/Stereomother¢s Randy Lee Sutherland heads this one into the back alleys w/ some pals and lose sense of time and practicality in the best way possible. Poor School on the other hand are just trying to make money by "righting" hit records, but they fuck up every time they pick up an instrument - but y¢know, when you hear drummer Niekrasz pound out this morse code in "mean method" and the sax/gtr combo add to the arguement - just back off and let ¡em justify their violent ambitions. Jazz wreckage and difficulties throughout. 300lps - screened covers by Randy Lee - bonus CDR of lp w/ 2 xtra tracks."- Killertree |

Artist: UNIVERSAL INDIANS Title: Monster Approach Format: LP Label: Killertree Country: USA Price: $16.50 |
|
"Olson: "You Stoned?" Ramirez: "Probably" Possibly the going rate for this unit - Universal Indians had this whole other life that spewed out on the stages and floors, a couple records, a few cassettes, even a video (which will see the light of day on dvd, much later). But more at home and more comfortable slamming out psych blow-outs in the basement of 325 Foster Ave in Lansing, MI. The so-called legacy thing for MK1 Universal Indians which stretched from 94 to 97 (not 93 that all music states) was simple in the philosophy dept and may have a fools merit - Drudge up some riffs, words, jack the amps, over-distort the Rat pedals to the point of canceling itself out, throw it together for Jesse Harper executed by The Dead C, praying for a spot in the Twisted Village or Siltbreeze. And get real high. American Tapes was barely in the double digits and we attempted to capture every session, every show on Olsons handheld recorder - lo fi to the gills but solid and thick sounding like speakers takina shit. Green light was at the crossroads for stacks and stacks of tapes to be pillaged throughout last Springtime end and Summer eves until four solid cuts were culled for an LP release. And this is the shit - the first side ranges from over the fucking top heavy driving High Rise wah battle to some serious reps on Olsons traps accompanying minimal trashed-out skronk chords pushing on the VU meter to pure slimy menacing blues skuzz that dissipates into a fine, loose rubbery mess (like every song does, and yeah, these are actual songs) with the sound is so thick that the grooves are white. Side Two holds two songs meshed together with fine stewardship ala GDs Ithaca 77 Scarlet/Fire blowout for a solid side-long mother of all battalion guitar ventures. Nudging Driver UFO & The Holy Sound of the American Pipe in the UI unisound tradition in a 16 minute rant that makes this cut a pinnacle in the annals of low-brow grong for the UI books - 3 or 4 minutes of semi-coherency, the rest a blaze of solid head-fuckery, a good one to get lost in. Our version of hard, loose psych to match head on all the fancy collector jargon hustled for big bills (only to receive some waysted bar band hashing out piss bloooz). Call it pride but it needed to be solid and realer than real. The end result coincides to a cruddy mix tape (levels are screwed considering each song is from a different session) and acclimates to the shitiest of stereos. These four cuts are from 94-95, two live cuts, two prax sessions, Olson kills the drums, Ramirez hashes the riffs, the wah & mumblings. And there was another guitar lazily played by someone from somewhere doing something when she wasnt doing her homework. Limited to 300 copies on vinyl - the demon is finally at rest." - Killertree.

"THE OHSEES (formerly OCS) is a duo consisting of JOHN DWYER (COACHWHIPS) and PATRICK MULLINS, both friends residing in SF, CA. Its is an unbelievable rare gift to see Dwyer stripped to an acoustic guitar and a collage of noise. Dwyer creates a more personal record that allows the listener to gain insight on the genius and inner workings of a modern leader in the underground music world. The melodies are beautiful, the songs as interesting if not more so than any of his other bands. A fan of any of his other projects will know that Dwyers gonna mindfuck our heads good and proper." -Kimosciotic

Artist: OKKO Title: Sitar & Electronics Format: CD Label: Kismet Country: UK Price: $18.00 |
| "Amazing sitar psychedelia from the early 70s. Dutch hippie Okko combined his instrument, sitar, with rock and electronic elements. The result was a tremendous album with some cool original tracks like Ganges Delta, Himalaya Highway or East Indian Traffic, together with a couple of brilliant Beatles covers, all of it with great sitar of course, but also Moog, tablas, flute, guitars, bass and drums. The album should please anyone into psychedelia, rock, sitar sounds and funky sitaresque stuff ala Ananda Shankar in its most rocking version." - Okko. |

Artist: ROSE, JACK & THE BLACK TWIG PICKERS Title: s/t Format: LP Label: Klang Country: USA Price: $20.00 |
| "Raw and rocking collaboration between JACK ROSE and THE BLACK TWIG PICKERS with some of the most swinging, hard-hitting string music waxed in many a decade. Roses solo playing has always had a tough edge, with his prodigious technique often employed in the service of dropping right-hand bombs-his use of a thumbpick originates from his years of duets with Twig MIKE GANGLOFF, struggling to make his guitar heard over Gangloffs crashing banjo. The front line of Rose and Gangloffs strings are joined by ISAK HOWELLs no-nonsense guitar and harmonica and NATE BOWLES variety of expert percussion. The four players lock together with a sure-footedness honed by frequent touring and a singularity of intent to rock. Gangloff takes the vocals, howling out standards like "Little Sadie" firmly in the old-time tradition-without reserve. A few of the tracks here are updates of Rose & family classics, with the group turning the stately "Kensington Blues" upbeat and an issuing an assured take on "Bright Sunny South," first recorded by PELT (with Rose and Gangloff) back in 2001 on their gonzo classic double Ayahuasca." - Klang. |

This is the third LP release on his own Klang Der Festing label following Musik aus dem Aroma Club (KdF1) and Rendezvous im Aroma Club (KdF2) which were both recorded by himself. With Zu Gast im Aroma Club he, for the first time, invited guests to join him in his club: Michael Rother, Okko Bekker, Felix Kubin, Jetzmann, Stefan Ebinger." - Klang Der Festung. Artist: ALI QUARTET, RASHIED Title: New Directions in Modern Music Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $25.00 |
| "Avant-garde jazz drummer Rashied Ali played with John Coltrane up until his death in 1967, appearing on final recordings like The Olatunji Concert and Interstellar Space. After Coltranes death, Ali soon formed his own quartet, with Fred Simmons on piano, Stafford James on bass violin and Carlos Ward on alto sax and flute. The quartets first release, New Directions In Modern Music, released on Alis own Survival Records in 1973, exploded onto the free jazz scene, influencing the likes of Don Cherry, Albert Ayler and Archie Shepp (as well as many outside the jazz idiom), becoming a kind of manifesto for avant-garde music of the period. From this point, until his death in 2009, Ali was at the heart of the New York experimental music scene, collaborating in the mid-nineties on a project called Purple Trap, with Japanese guitarist Keiji Haino and Bill Laswell." - Klimt. |

Artist: AMON DUUL II Title: Meetings with Menmachines Inglorious Heroes of the Past... Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $25.00 |
| "Ultra rare original artwork version of Amon Düüls (UK) Meetings with Menmachines Inglorious Heroes of the Past... This LP was originally released in 1983 on the small British label Illuminated Records (home to Sex Gang Children, Throbbing Gristle, etc.), with an album sleeve of original artwork that was soon inexplicably replaced by a mediocre band photo on all subsequent reissues. Menmachines was also the second of four all-new studio albums made by this UK-based incarnation of Amon Düül. The new Amon Düül featured John Weinzierl on guitar, ex-Hawkwind bassist Dave Anderson (both from Amon Duul II), ex-Van Der Graaf Generator Guy Evans on drums, and Julie Waring on vocals. For this LP the band moved away from the more free-form freakout of their earlier days towards a sound that was far more structured and derivative, with definite new wave/post-punk leanings." -Klimt. |
|
Artist: ARZACHEL Title: s/t Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $28.00 |
| "One of the great lost albums of British psychedelia, original copies of Arzachels 1969 self-titled debut fetch huge sums on the collectors market and it is not difficult to understand why. Originally released in 1969 on the small Evolution label, this album quite simply contains some of the best psych to ever come out of the UK. However, like so many other great albums of the era, it soon dropped entirely from the radar due to bad promotion. In fact, it may not have ever been rediscovered at all if guitarist Steve Hillage and keyboardist Dave Stewart had not gone on to be so well known. Hillage would soon become famous for his work in Gong, and Stewart would become a legend of British prog with Egg, Hatfield and the North, National Health, and his work with wife Barbara Gaskin in the 1980s. Contains bonus track from a lacquer of the same period." |

Artist: AYLER, ALBERT Title: Spirits Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $23.00 |
| "After a few years spent living in Sweden and touring with Cecil Taylors Jazz Unit, Ayler moved to NYC to begin imposing his revolutionary style of jazz on the world through a number of groundbreaking records. Spirits, recorded at Atlantic Studios in New York City on 24 February 1964, was his first effort. Recorded a few months prior to his landmark album for ESP-Disk, Spiritual Unity (but only released in Europe on Denmarks Debut Records), for the occasion Ayler recruited Norman Howard (a Cleveland-based trumpeter), well-known bassist Henry Grimes, drummer and right-hand man Sunny Murray and the then-unknown bassist Earle Henderson. This historic early disc is essential Ayler." - Klimt. |
|
Artist: AYLER, ALBERT Title: Swing Low Sweet Spiritual Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $23.00 |
| "Following a few years spent living and playing in Scandinavia, an unknown saxophone player by the name of Albert Ayler returned home to the USA to begin imposing his revolutionary style of jazz on the world. Having recorded his debut album, My Name Is Albert Ayler for the Danish label, Debut Records, this session (which took place in New York City on 24 February 1964) was his first American effort, resulting in the eventual release of two albums: Spirits (released in 1964 on Debut) and Swing Low, Sweet Spiritual, which remained unissued for 30 years. Here, a quartet featuring Ayler on tenor and soprano sax, Call Cobbs on piano, Henry Grimes on bass and Sunny Murray on drums, provide a fresh reading of five well-known African American spirituals and gospel hymns, plus Old Man River, taken from the 1927 musical Show Boat. This is an extremely rare album from Aylers early period." - Klimt. |

Artist: CHERRY, DON/KRZYSZTOF PENDERECKI Title: The New Eternal Rhythm Orchestra Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $23.00 |
| "Recorded live at the Donaueschingen Music Festival in Germany on October 17, 1971, this rare concert has not been available on vinyl since the seventies! This recording, while still firmly rooted in the American free jazz tradition of Ornette Coleman and Albert Ayler (with whom Don Cherry frequently recorded), brings in elements of traditional Indian, African, Chinese, Mayan and Balinese music. Of the three pieces found here, the first two are composed by Cherry and feature an international group of musicians reminiscent of Sun Ras Arkestra (Cherry also recorded with Ra). His son, the three-year-old Eagle-Eye Cherry, and his wife Moki, can also be heard in some sections! The final piece was written and conducted by Grammy Award-winning Polish avant-garde composer Krysztof Penderecki, best known for his groundbreaking Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima." - Klimt. |

Artist: COSMIC JOKERS, THE Title: S/T Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $23.00 |
|
"Recorded in 1973 during a series of acid-fuelled all-night jam parties held at producer Dieter Dierks studio near Cologne, Cosmic Jokers was the work of a veritable krautrock supergroup that included Dierks himself, Manuel Göttsching (Ash Ra Tempel), Klaus Schulze (Tangerine Dream), Jürgen Dollase and Harald Grosskopf (both of Wallenstein). This free-form freak out -- consisting of two epic tracks, the 22 min "Galactic Joke" and the 19 min "Cosmic Joy"--was first of five albums by the group to be released on Rolf-Ulrich Kaisers Cosmic Couriers label in the coming months. A first rate slab of space rock up there with other classics of the genre." -Klimt

Artist: CREATION Title: Pure Electric Soul Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $23.00 |
| "Led by Japanese guitar hero Kazuo Takeda, Creation was instrumental in opening the ears of Japanese audiences to the sounds pouring in from the West. After having spent some time around Londons music scene in 1971, Takeda took his experience home to start a band that incorporated these sounds into something that was at the same time uniquely Japanese. From 1975-1977 Creation released three albums (one of which was recorded in the USA with American producer Felix Pappalardi, whom Takeda had met in London). 1977s Pure Electric Soul was the bands final effort. An album of riff-heavy and funky blues rock, mostly penned by Takeda, with the exception of the blues standard Frankie And Johnny and the Yardbirds Happenings 10 Years Time Ago. Once again the controversial cover artwork featured a group of nude boys." -Klimt. |
|
Artist: CREATION Title: S/T Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $23.00 |
| "Originally released in 1975, this album was the culmination of Japanese ax-hero Kazuo Flash Takedas post-London musical efforts. Takeda spent the early 1960s soaking in the sounds of American blues, psych and British invasion rock bands, eventually forming his own band--the aptly named Blues Creation--in 1969. The band released three albums, including their now legendary Demon & Eleven Children; before Takeda took off for London in 1972. During this time he played on a number of sessions and made friends with many musicians, particularly the American hard rockers Mountain. When he finally returned to Japan the following year, he was ready to start a new band with himself on lead guitar and vocals. Now simply called Creation, the band released its self-titled LP in 1975, produced by the Flower Travellin Band producer Yuya Utchida and featuring a cover photo of a group of naked boys peeing. Creations next album would be recorded in the US with Felix Pappalardi. Takeda went on to release over 20 albums and now lives in L.A. as a session guitarist." -Klimt |

Artist: DEMIAN Title: S/T Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $28.00 |
| "One of the bands that helped build the great Austin, TX music scene (the live music capital of the world), Demian was actually Bubble Puppy with a new name and sound. While Bubble Puppy was classic psychedelia, Demian was hard rock in the vein of bands like Atomic Rooster. Recorded live-in-studio at L.A.s legendary Record Plant studio in 1970, Demian was also one of the first bands to feature dueling lead guitars. Despite the high quality of the songs and the local buzz this album generated at the time, due to mismanagement, Demian soon faded into the record collecting beyond." -Klimt |
|
Artist: FOREST Title: BBC Concert Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $23.00 |
| "Recorded in May and October 1972 for BBC Radio 1 by DJ Bob Harris, these sessions may be all that remain of this seminal acid folk bands elusive third album! Featuring songs not heard on either one of their LPs--1969s self-titled debut and 1970s Full Circle, both on Harvest--it is speculated that many of these songs would have appeared on their imminent third album had they not been suddenly dropped from their label (due to low sales and rapidly changing musical tastes). By 1972 Dez Allenby had left the band, leaving brothers Adrian & Martin Welham as the only remaining members, although Dave Panton (viola, sax) and Dave Stubbs (bass) were brought in for their live performances. By this time, particularly on tracks like Everyday Laugh, the Welham brothers were moving more into avant-rock territory and one can only speculate on where they could have gone from here. All songs by Welham & Welham except a version of Ray Charles 1958 hit Leave My Woman Alone." -Klimt. |

Artist: FUCHSIA Title: S/T Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $25.00 |
| "Fuchsias 1971 LP is a lost gem of experimental British progressive rock (in the vein of Henry Cow and Comus). Fuchsia was formed by lead singer and guitarist Tony Durant during his days at Exeter University. Wanting to write songs outside of the standard pop format, Durant had the innovative idea of bringing in an all-female string section, which included fellow Exeter students, Madeleine Bland (cello), Janet Rogers (violin), and Vanessa Hall-Smith (viola). Fuchsias self-titled first (and last) album was recorded in summer of 1971, and the band (all students) was determined to tour during their next holiday. But the best laid plans often come undone, and Fuchsia soon dissolved with Durant eventually moving to Australia." -Klimt. |

"Originally released on Frank Zappas Straight! Records in 1969 and limited to 1,000 copies, Farewell Aldebaran is an inspired one-off project by singer Judy Henske and (ex-Association and Lovin Spoonful member) Jerry Yester. Henskes amazing vocal range and the albums wonderfully eclectic feel (while still firmly rooted in psychedelia) makes one wonder why Henske & Yester did not become bigger stars. A true cult item, combining the help of guest musicians of the calibre of Bernie Krause (Beaver & Krause), Solomon Feldthouse/David Lindley (Kaleidoscope), Ry Cooder and Dick Rosmini. Now reissued for the first time ever on vinyl!" -Klimt

Just 100 copies were pressed for the Gigantic label, and originals have been known to change hands for a small fortune. The album features excellent vocals, plus an interesting mix of fuzz guitar, and droning organ, as well as some wonderfully melodic songs. This reissue also features four bonus tracks from the B.F. Trike album session, recorded for RCA Records in Nashville, Tennessee in 1971. The B.F. Trike album, however, remained in the vaults for 25 years, before it was finally uncovered and given its just recognition in the mid-nineties." -Klimt. |

Artist: JOSEFUS Title: Dead Man Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $28.00 |
| "One of the great lost albums of Southern hard rock, Dead Man was the 1970 debut album of the Houston band, Josefus. Formed in 1969, Josefus soon garnered a huge live following, opening for acts like ZZ Top and Grand Funk Railroad. Unfortunately, their debut album, a heavy mix of Zeppelin-inspired acid rock with a Southern twist, was destined to obscurity, due largely to the fact that it was not released on a proper label (the band actually paid to have the album pressed and released on their own Hookah label). Just a few months prior to recording Dead Man, however, Josefus had actually recorded an albums worth of material for a producer in Phoenix, but the album was never released. This is what prompted the band to go back into the studio with their own money to record Dead Man. Dead Man was, therefore naturally, a mix of some of the songs from this earlier album (tentatively called: Get Off My Case) along with some new ones. Actually only three tracks from Get Off My Case did not make it onto Dead Man (Get Off My Case, A Social Song and Fealin Good), but these have been restored here as bonus tracks, so what you are actually getting is the complete track listing from the two albums." -Klimt |

Artist: LUCAS, TREVOR Title: Overlander Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $25.00 |
| "Little-known and long out-of-print album by one of Australias greatest singer-songwriters. Primarily known for his work in the UK with Fairport Convention and Fotheringay (with wife, Sandy Denny) in the early seventies, Trevor Lucas released this album of traditional Australian folk songs in 1966 on Reality Records. Intended to introduce British audiences to the Australian folk tradition, songs like The Overlander and South Australia make the uniquely rough life of the Australian outback come alive." - Klimt. |

Artist: MASATO, MINAMI Title: The Tropics Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $23.00 |
| "Born in Asagaya, Tokyo on 3 March 1944, Japanese folk singer Masato Minami began his musical career after spending a few years bumming around Mexico and the US and taking in the burgeoning beatnik (and related drug) scene. While in the US Minami saw one of Dylans early performances and returned home to Japan to start a band. After the release of two singles (in 1969 and 1970), 1971 saw the release of his debut LP, The Tropics. For this opus Minami enlisted the considerable talents of guitarist Takashi Mizutani (of Les Rallizes Denudes fame) and bassist Haroumi Hosono (of Apryl Fool and Happy End) resulting in this incredibly rare example of early Japanese acid folk. Featuring bonus track It Cant Be Over." -Klimt. |

Artist: MYSTIC SIVA Title: S/T Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $25.00 |
| "Underground American psych at its finest: the now-legendary 1970 privately pressed Mystic Siva LP is one of the most sought-after artifacts in the whole psychedelic rock arena! But back in 1970 Mystic Siva were just a bunch of Detroit teenagers messing around in their parents garage with a Hammond B3 organ and a wah-wah pedal. Little did they know that original copies of this album would one day change hands for thousands of dollars!" -Klimt. |

Artist: NAGAI, SEIJI Title: Electronic Noise Improvisation 1999 Format: Double LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $35.00 |
| 2011 vinyl reissue of 1999 CD. "After spending the first half of the 1970s globetrotting with Asias premiere avant-garde band--Takehisa Kosugis Taj Mahal Travellers (where Seiji Nagai played trumpet and keyboards)--Nagai continued to study and play music, particularly Indian music (drones) and electronic/computer generated music. In 1999 he finally released Electronic Noise Improvisation, with the help of Koichi Watanabe, Koji Kawai and Minoru Yonemoto. Here, as in the days of TMT, Nagai concentrates on creating dense drones, but this time his instruments are computers and a host of electronic gadgets, as well as electronic mandolin and piano." -Klimt. |

Artist: POPOL VUH Title: Affenstunde Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $25.00 |
| "Brilliant debut by the godfathers of ambient and world music, Popol Vuh! Originally released in 1970, Affenstunde (literally Ape Hour) was the first album by a German band to employ the extraordinary sounds of the Moog synthesizer. Blending electronics with traditional percussion instruments, Popol Vuh - led by the legendary multi-instrumentalist Florian Fricke - created a tribal and dreamlike blanket of sound that would go on to influence many-a-band on the krautrock scene and beyond. Popol Vuh would also soon famously begin to collaborate with Werner Herzog, composing many of the soundtracks to his films from this period (including Aguirre: The Wrath of God, Nosferatu and Fitzcarraldo). Numbered edition of 500 copies." -Klimt. |

Artist: SUN RA QUARTET Title: The Mystery of Being Format: Triple LP Boxset Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $58.00 |
| "Subtitled: Voice Studio Rome 2,7,8,13 January 1978. Sun Ras legendary 1978 Italian studio sessions, now available together for the first time ever on vinyl! Long sought-after by collectors, these extremely rare studio sessions were originally released in 1978 as two double LPs (New Steps and Other Voices, Other Blues) on the mysterious Italian jazz label, Horo Records. They have never been reissued on vinyl (and only partially reissued on CD) until now! With the help of trumpet player, Michael Ray, drummer, Luqman Ali and saxophonist John Gilmore, Ra kicks off the quartet sessions with the classic My Favorite Things, which features some superlative playing by Gilmore, while Ra pounds away on an old upright studio piano. In fact, for the first two sides Ra plays mostly piano, while on sides C and D, he sticks more to his new Crumar Multiman, an Italian-made synthesizer that Ra had purchased during the tour. These sessions are also interesting because they give listeners a chance to hear Ra concentrating on primarily his own compositions--many of which (i.e. Rome At Twilight Along The Tiber) were inspired by his time spent in Italy--but in a more intimate Arkestra-less jazz setting. Fans will be clamouring to get their hands on this before it disappears again for another 30 years." -Klimt |

Artist: TAJ MAHAL TRAVELLERS Title: Live At The Moderna Museet In Stockholm, 1st & 9th July 1971 Format: Double LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $35.00 |
| "Recorded on July 1 and 9, 1971 in the geodesic dome at the Utopia & Visions 1871-1981 exhibition at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Takehisa Kosugis Taj Mahal Travellers were the premiere Japanese experimental rock band of the 1970s. The band, heavily influenced by Fluxus, used electronic effects and a host of unusual instruments to create a series of improvised drones. Kosugi went on to become the music director for the Merce Cunningham Dance Company." -Klimt. |
|
Artist: TREES Title: Live! Format: LP Label: Klimt Country: France Price: $23.00 |
| "Extremely rare live in studio recordings of one of Englands most superlative female-fronted acid folk bands, recorded in 1971 and 1972 with DJ Bob Harris for BBC Radio 1. Formed in London in 1969, Trees have been likened to a more psychedelic Fairport Convention (with the amazing Celia Humphris taking the role of Sandy Denny). These are mostly tracks that never appeared on either one of their studio albums (The Garden Of Jane Delawney and On The Shore both released on CBS in 1970) making it an especially significant addition to their repertoire." -Klimt. |

Artist: HEXLOVE Title: Holy Mountain Format: CD Label: Knew Abloom (Lifes Hood) Country: USA Price: $12.50 |
| "Southern Illinois native ZAC NELSON is a drummer, and knowing that you should also know that he is a madman. One of the few known photos of him looks like a cult leader or someone who might know a thing or two about eating diamonds. While he is a current member of WHOS YOUR FAVORITE SON GOD and PRINTS, HEXLOVE is Nelson all by himself going nuts. Nelsons enthusiastic mania is not just in the realm of Keith Moon-ness but as a multi-instrumentalist who channels Dennis Wilson, Neil Michael Haggerty, and post-Vision Creation Newsun Boredoms, and combine it all and play it off like it was mixed by Tod Dockstader. No one is ever going to think you should listen to Knew Abloom on nitrous because it already sounds like its on nitrous. Simply put, Hexlove is unlike anything and sounds exactly like right now should." - Holy Mountain |

Artist: CAN Title: Ogam Ogat Format: LP Label: Knife Country: Denmark Price: $20.00 |
|
"Recorded in 1971 at Inner Space Studios during the "Tago Mago" sessions, this consists of only one long, 35-minute track, "Auf der Einbahnstrasse," divided into 2 parts on sides A and B. With Holger Czukay and Jaki Liebezeit providing a more than slightly stoned tribal/funky rhythmic background and Irmin Schmidt dropping in and out on organ, Michael Karolis guitar squeals, howls and buzzes while Damo Suzuki flies above it all, a complete wildman on vocals." -Knife

Artist: PIRINEN, JOAKIM/MIKAEL STROEMBERG Title: Afrika Format: CD Label: Kning Disk Country: Sweden Price: $13.00 |
| "Limited Edition of 350. Joakim Pirinen, mainly known for his comics and artwork, invites the listener to a sound odyssey with a couple of text-sound compositions together with Mikael Strömberg. The text material consists of short stories from Joakim Pirinens "Den svenska apan" [The Swedish Monkey] and some newly produced texts. Here you meet Gösta Jamberts, the man who left Sweden for Uganda to get his revenge on the Swedish state, the exhausted man standing in the rubble, trying to have a cosy home evening, the love struck Yssen behind the couch in the living room or the poor India- rubber tree that never dies etc. Is this music? Or Literature? Or something in- between? The Swedish text- sound compositions of the late 60s and 70s, with names like ÿke Hodell, Lars- Gunnar Bodin, Sten Hansson and ÿyvind Fahlström tried to expand the boundaries of poetry and music, text and sound. And so does the duo Pirinen/ Strömberg who follows closely in this tradition; the computer music of Strömberg mingles with the readings of Pirinen in patterns mainly determined by chance. The result is often as unexpected as it is humorous." - Kning Disk. |

Artist: THU20 Title: Tilburg Format: LP Label: Korm Plastics Country: Netherlands Price: $16.00 |
|
"A live recording made in Paradox in Tilburg in October 2007. Over the past twenty years one of the bigger enigmas of industrial music or modern musique concrete has been THU20. They seldom record or play live, yet when they do, a lot of attention is placed on the detail. In the studio this leads to perfectly shaped sonic constructions, and in a live concert a detailled balance between the various interests of the five players involved. The computer work of Jos Smolders and Roel Meelkop, the acoustic sound objects of Peter Duimelinks and Frans de Waard and the analogue electronics of Jacques van Bussel. A small selection of live recordings by THU20 has been made avialable before, such as a split LP with Merzbow, and live recordings from Nancy. Tilburg fits that particular line of THU20 work. Various recordings were made, from the P.A. aswell as by the individual players, which were slightly edited by THU20. Cover by Meeuw." -Korm Plastics

Artist: CONTROL R WORKSHOP Title: Missing Format: LP Label: KOS Recordings Country: USA Price: $13.00 |
| "Daron Key (guitar) and Randy Sutherland (sax) founded Control R Workshop in early 1999 as a means to focus on various branches of music which include composition and free improvisation. Kessel Crocket, the percussionist on this recording, contributed heavily to our structuring of trio works. Crockets trap kit style propelled the dynamic range of the music through his use of minimalism, accents and controlled techniques. With a mainstay percussionist, the saxophone, guitar and string elements were able to intensify and minimize in accordance to a self-imposed structure." - KOS Recordings. Editon of 200. |

Artist: DOLPHINS INTO THE FUTURE Title: Ke Ala Ke Kua Format: LP Label: Kraak Country: Belgium Price: $18.00 |
|
"In January and February of this year L.R.J. Martens spent his days in Big Island, Hawaii to focus on the communication of Dolphins. For this lp his encounter with a group of spinner dolphins and humphback whales was translated to audio postcards.
In three epic new age compositions Martens seeks the ultimate sound for the Cetacean Nation, of which he is one of the official composers. Traces of esoteric seventies fusion and the 3D universes of Jean-Luc Bozzoli are gently transformed to artistic sound relaxation and aquatic poetry. L.R.J. Martens is one of the key figures in the Belgian DIY avant-garde scene. With labels such as Imvated, Bread and Animals and Taped Sounds he gave new energy to the cassette underground in Belgium. With a background in various noise sensations and neo-dadaistic sound play, he now found his ying and yang in Dolphins Into The Future. A-side) Ke Ala Ke Kua A lucid collage of alt saxophone, tapes, synthesizer, Pacific Ocean waves floating in 7s, Polynesian choirs and poly-rhythms, site-specific birdsounds and walkman. Three chapters to translate the extreme dramatics, spirit, multi dimensions and beauty of the Kealakekua Bay, the Gods pathway. . B-side) Hookenaaha Halawai An emotional-emphatic sound memory of an encounter with a school of Spinner Dolphins and two Humph-Back Whales. Created with the Dave Smith Evolver keyboard, and the angel vocals from the Casio CTK810. Kookika Mokuaina Study for alt saxophone, birdsongs, water and cassette. Being an evocative sound postcard from Hawaiis Big Island, the Orchid Isle. Recorded and mixed iune and iulai 2010 by L.R.J. Martens at Cetacean Nation Studios, Antwerp." - Kraak.

Artist: DUCKTAILS/KOHN/PEAKING LIGHTS/ALIEN RADIO Title: Lune Atroce/Soleil Amer Format: 7" Label: Kraak Country: Belgium Price: $7.50 |
|
"One year after the Meet the Philly elite 7" we finally release a fresh 4-way split. This time Kahn and Alien Radio are trancing deep into the history of synthesizer classics while Peaking Lights and Ducktails have a take on their own pop music.
Kohn is Jagen De Blonde. He has been called the godfather of Belgian electronica. After the double-cd Koen from 2002, he started to focus on music for dance and theatre. Last year he made his comeback on wax with We need more space in the cosmos, an lp full of epic space age compositions. U C I M builds on the same vibes: trancy and neo-cosmic. Ulf Schütte plays in Datashock and Phantom Horse, but his musical climaxes are definitely at home when he fools around with his modular synths. ALIEN RADIOs music follows the tradition of Conny Planck, Delia Derbyshire, Dick Raaijmakers and Ursula Bogner. Gedanke und Ahnung is bleepsynthronica sounding like a sketch of a derailed sonic research project. PEAKING LIGHTS are the duo of Indra Dunis (ex-Numbers) and Aaron Coynes. Creatures of day creatures at night is pure summer pop. The usual synths and drumloops made place for fuzzy calypso riffing. Dunis vocal romanticism sounds sweet as a Brian Wilson song. Sc-fi soft pop! Real Estate, Alex Bleeker & the Freaks, Predator Vision, Parasails… All bands Matt Mondanile is involved in. In the last three years his music went around the world rather quickly, mainly under his DUCKTAILS moniker. His neo-tropic pop music is often linked to a movement that also houses the likes of James Feraro, Dolphins into the Future and a great deal of the Not Not Fun related bands. Sprinter is a repetitive melancholic pop song, and about the most indie track we heard from Ducktails so far!" - Kraak.

Artist: EL-G Title: Tout Ploie Format: LP Label: Kraak Country: Belgium Price: $15.00 |
|
"We first heard the music of Paris-based Laurent Gérard when he forgot a demo-cdr in the tourvan of Jack Rose last year, and directly became one of our favourite French acts of the moment.
él-g makes a strange mix of French ballads and avant-garde song-writing. A pig-headed approach of the French language and ingenious arrangments are the core business of this dude. Tout Ploie is a compilation of both the best tracks from previously released cdrs and new work. él-g appears as a sort of modern day miniature version of Serge Gainsbourg on this debut-lp. The female singer, Charlene Darling, who accompanies him throughout the most part of the record only makes this comparison more apt. Gérard has never been affraid to buy records of Lee Hazlewood and late Fleetwood Mac. He extracted the right ingredients from those records and added some genuine French sensuality. Tout Ploie is the pop album that had to be made for a long time and doesnt fear experiment with guest appearances of e.g. Ignatz, Phil Todd, Mim and Foxy De Man." - Kraak.

Artist: ES Title: Flick Format: CD Label: Kraak Country: Belgium Price: $15.00 |
| "Second one in the guitarimproseries (first one was Shifts). This Finish guy is pretty young but has a distinctive feel towards his guitarplay. Excerpts from his talents could be found on the Killa 7"s but here he is operating alone on his selfbuild guitar and other "soundlabs". Its dark and quiet with lots of floating, hissing and inspired contructions. Every now and then a melody pops up which brings together the harmony between impro and a "listenable" experience. As for guitarplay he got his own way in "sweeping" his strings. Es becomes soon something very personal and introspective in each individual life." - Kraak. |

"At the first edition of Tweeklank festival Limpe Fuchs and Gerard Herman proved the universal and cross-generation language of improvised music. Coming from the revolutionary sixties freak scene in Germany Fuchs still plays with the same energy on her self-built instruments consisting of impressive bronze and stone sculptures. This concert evolves around Fuchs creatures, her viola, Hermans diy duchampwheel, alt sax and expressive vocal interplay. A truly wonderful live experience captured for the cult archives." - Kraak. Artist: HAYDEN, BRIDGET Title: An Indifferent Ocean Format: LP Label: Kraak Country: Belgium Price: $18.00 |
|
Limited to 500 copies. "Previously found prizing atom splitting feedback through a horizontal guitar, Bridget Haydens solo experiments have more lately sought the brooding, layered blues that we find resonating in “An Indifferent Ocean”. A stripped down set up, featuring an out of tune, hand me down guitar, two pedals of similar origin – no delays – and a donated fourtrack port-a-studio found on the street, has converged to form a crafted storm of abyss kicking improvisation.
Best known for her involvement with the hypnotic, shambollic and critically acclaimed drone band Vibracathedral Orchestra, Hayden split in 2006, desiring change and a new vein to hone.
She toured solo with kindred freaks such as The Aethr Method, Melanie Crowley-Delaney, Marcia Bassett and Sunburned Hand of the Man, later teaming up with The Telescopes henchman Stephen Lawrie to begin a noisy collaboration that continues to confuse and electrify.
Here, in her first official and long awaited solo release, you will find a spectrum of somnambulist trances that seamlessly conjoin dense and frantic depth with delicate fracture. Relentless guitar shredding epics are interspersed with graceful, drifting melancholia that lull the listener back to shore with a warm, whispered dream after being crashed mercilessly against the rocks." - Kraak.

Artist: HELLVETTE Title: De Gek Format: LP Label: Kraak Country: Belgium Price: $18.00 |
| "Hellvete is one of the three members who founded the Flemish Funeral Folk collective and a key figure of the satanadelic combo Sylvester Anfang II. Similar to the mothership, his solo work spans from folk-inspired guitar drones to minimalist keyboard esoterica. The significant difference is that his solo songs are more composed and less improvised. De Gek (meaning The Fool) is an epic trip through the different zones of the Hellvete Empire: layered guitar eruptions mix in with modern classical orchestration and dark folk tales. Influences such as Stephen R. Smith and Manuel Göttsching result in abstract sound narrations, that might just as well make one think of medieval folk or Rock In Opposition. On this debut LP all the aspects of what has been baptized the Belgian dronevolkscene culminate in an extraordinary exploration of the Self: a sonic exorcization of old demons and a return to the nostalgic peace of the country side. De Gek is a new interpretation of the modern psychedelic idylle. The Rochefort 10 of the new Belgian guitar folk tradition." - Kraak. |

Artist: IGNATZ Title: II Format: CD Label: Kraak Country: Belgium Price: $15.00 |
| "The debut of Ignatz is still fresh in your memory, and hes already there with the follow up. On Ignatz II, he walks further down the Appalachians in the year 2050. Stunning rootsfolk, but played by a lost and unworldly creature. His sound builds further upon his debut album, with the difference that on one of the six tracks he doesnt use any effects. He even sings and talks more and creates his own musical world around it. In the meantime he has become musical partners with Paul Labreque (Sunburned Hand of the Man) and Silverster Anfgang (Belgium), but still proves that his solo work towers above his other collaborations. II is the affirmation of his talent. Future weird Belgium!!" - Kraak |
|
Artist: IGNATZ Title: III Format: LP Label: Kraak Country: Belgium Price: $18.00 |
| "George Herriman created Ignatz in 1910. It was a vicious mouse in the comic Krazy Kat. Ignatz favourite occupation was throwing bricks at Krazy Kats head, who thought it was a love declaration from the mouse. The Brussels based artist Bram Devens uses Ignatz as his alter-ego for his own pile of bricks. Acoustic songs wrapped with effects and driven by improvisation and spontaneousness. III projects the atmosphere of Jack London and The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog onto a modern world ruled by technology. Devens brings us the most genuine melancholy contemporary pop music has seen since quite some time. This album leaves the underground scenery that is troubled by trends so often far behind and just shows us the pure essence of what Music has to be: raw emotions put to sound. With his third full album Bram Devens has once again amazed us with a masterpiece. In his usual brain-melting retro-futuristic blues folk, he summons the devilish spirits of Bukka White, Robert Pete Williams and Sleepy John Estes as seen through the eyes of an adolescent Lou Reed. III tells a fictive and blurred story about the death of music genres. Tragedies built upon screeching, atonal and repetitive melodies. Smelling like a wet dog or a badly dried towel. III breathes a much more sentimental atmosphere compared to Devens?? previous work because of his grousing voice, that is not unlike Skip James??s. After the closing track ??Dead By noon?, the tormented soul frees the listener from a heavy personal trip and leaves him dazzled. III projects the atmosphere of Jack London and The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog onto a modern world ruled by technology. Devens brings us the most genuine melancholy contemporary pop music has seen since quite some time. This album leaves the underground scenery that is troubled by trends so often far behind and just shows us the pure essence of what Music has to be: raw emotions put to sound." - Kraak. |

"What the hells wrong with this guy?, that will probably be the first thought that goes through your mind when first listening to this mind frying fourth lp by Belgiums most intriguing musician. Apart from the tree enigmatic vinyl releases on KRAAK Bram Devens also released a handful of tapes on different labels. This LP compiles the best tracks of his cassettes on Goaty Tapes, Bennifer Editions, Scumbag Relations, Imvated, Dreamtime Taped Sounds and New Age Tapes, plus a previously unreleased track from the Ignatz III demos, on which we hear the man as close as he ever came to the genious vibes of Lou Reed. “Selected songs from cassettes 2005-2009” shows Devens in all his different guises: from the crying sailor drowning in psychedelic mud to the melody addicted outsider balladeer choking on moonshine. This is Ignatz ultimate record and last step before his orchestrated concept album period. Cover drawing by Olivier Schrauwen." - Kraak.

| "This is a true solo album, entirely created and produced by a single person. That is certainly not unique, especially in the contemporary scene. But Bradford Coxs unusual talent is the ability to take a wide variety of seemingly incongruous sound elements, and seamlessly meld them into a cohesive pop narrative. A sunken 4/4 techno beat underpinning "Winter Vacation"? Perfect. Mbira loops running over the top of "Quarantined"? Just what it needed. An insistent, clipped drum roll carrying "River Card"? Masterful. And ultimately it is this innate ability to combine all these disparate elements into a singular whole that makes this album such an enjoyable, and unique listen." - Kranky. |

| "The material on Living Contact is made up solely of Christina Carter on acoustic guitar and occasional vocals. It was recorded on boombox and four track tape from 1994-98, the period between Charalambides Union and Houston albums, with most of the material recorded in 1995 and 1996. Wholly Other originally released Living Contact as an edition of 100 CDRs in 2001 and the labels catalog describes the music as The primitive and spectral underpinnings of Charalambides rendered with mysterious simplicity." - Kranky. |

Artist: CARTER, CHRISTINA Title: Original Darkness Format: CD Label: Kranky Country: USA Price: $12.00 |
| "Christina Carter has a gift. In a world where most people shy away from the truth, from honesty in emotion, Christina has the strength to address those feelings head on through her music. Within the songs of Original Darkness, she confronts loneliness, self doubt, inadequacy and desire. She bares these emotions in a sometimes tender, sometimes forceful, sometimes pleading voice, a voice in which you can hear her vulnerability, her trepidation. Christinas words, and the mournful sound of them, stirs a melancholy that is supported and framed by her gently plucked guitar notes, notes that echo the sadness in the world she sings of, as well as the words she sings. These 10 new songs are effective at painting pictures, exposing the underbelly of what we all really think but most will not say, of what we all really feel but push away. With the addition of gentle bells and occasional keyboards, Christina reminds us of what it means to be honestly human. The latest album from the longtime Charalambides mainstay follows her Electrice album from late 2006 on kranky as well as a split album with Pocahaunted from early in 2008." -Kranky |

Artist: CARTER, TOM Title: Monument Format: CD Label: Kranky Country: USA Price: $14.00 |
| "Monument is a recording of guitar music from Tom Carter of Charalambides and is the second in a series of Charalambides-related reissues by Kranky. The two tracks of solo lap steel guitar were recorded live to DAT by Tom Carter a few days before a live performance in March, 2001. Monument was originally released by Wholly Other in an edition of 55 CDRs. The first track, Monument 1 (Memorial) is slightly longer than two minutes and barely reveals itself. The second, Monument 2, is 47 minutes in length and considerably more expansive and louder than the opening cut. The album was made using lap steel guitar, glass slides, digitech tsr-12 stereo reverb, a rat distortion pedal and craftsman screwdrivers." -Kranky |

Artist: CHARALAMBIDES Title: A Vintage Burden Format: CD Label: Kranky Country: USA Price: $13.50 |
| "The long-awaited new album from the legendary CHARALAMBIDES, now pared down to the original core duo of CHRISTINA CARTER and TOM CARTER. After having worked out some dark demons with the release of their last album Joy Shapes, the duo has recorded a more melodic song cycle, reminiscent of their earlier albums Union and Market Square. Of particular note is the stunning guitar work Tom displays on the 18-minute instrumental "Black Bed Blues." The bands most cosmic and beautiful release to date." - Kranky. |
|
Artist: CHARALAMBIDES Title: Exile Format: Double LP Label: Kranky Country: USA Price: $18.00 |
| "Exile is the new Charalambides album. Five years in the making, it was recorded between 2006 and 2010 in various locations in New Hampshire, western Massachusetts and New York City, mixed at Black Dirt Studios, and mastered at Sand with Paul Gold. The group remains the core duo of Christina and Tom Carter, with contributions on one track by the string section of Helena Espvall and Margarida Garcia. Deeply imbued with the full historical spectrum of American folk and blues song form, Exile is a tapestry of suppliant invocations directed at the heart of the unseen spiritual forces surrounding us. Dense arrangements and thickly-overdubbed tracks sit side-by-side with material that ranks among the sparest and most skeletal the group has recorded, giving Exile the psychic scope of their classic Market Square album while building on the refinements of the more recent Likeness and A Vintage Burden releases." -Kranky. |
|
Artist: CHARALAMBIDES Title: Joy Shapes Format: Double LP Label: Kranky Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
| "To say that the words unique and singular are over-used in describing music is to state the obvious. To apply these words to the sounds created by the various duo/trio configurations of the Texas group Charalambides over the last decade plus would be understatement. To be sure there are numerous antecedents to their music; to deny this of any artists work would be akin to saying that they are deaf. But they have surely broken new ground in the primitive/folk/mystic/improv/psych valley in which they toil. This new album is certainly not for the faint of heart. Five songs stretch and crawl over 75 minutes, with Christine Carter finding a new fearlessness in her voice that will draw comparisons to Patty Waters or the early work of Meredith Monk. Joy Shapes is the first studio album recorded by Charalambides in a long time." - Kranky. CD also available. |

Artist: CHARALAMBIDES Title: Likeness Format: CD Label: Kranky Country: USA Price: $13.50 |
| "Likeness is the newest release from the duo of Tom and Christina Carter. Recorded over a period of several weeks during the Spring of 2006, the album is a return to the spontaneous composition of previous Charalambides records such as Houston and Union. With the exception of The Good Life, which appeared in a primitive version on the Wholly Other CDR Home, all of the tracks on this release sprung forth after record was pressed, and were fleshed out via overdubs, editing and a malfunctioning space echo over the course of the next few months. Lyrical content largely derives from public domain, American popular song from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, edited, rearranged and largely deconstructed by Christina into abstract protest songs for the century at hand. Musically, the album departs from the warm psych of A Vintage Burden in favor of the lush and layered vocal strata of Christinas later solo works, and a chillier, more abrasive guitar sound that favors The Velvets over The Byrds. Though containing much of the compositional concision that gave A Vintage Burden much of its appeal, the sound here just as frequently turns the corner into the abstract echoing spaces that characterize the more discordant sounds of Charalambides at the dawn of their Kranky residency." - Kranky. |

Artist: CHARALAMBIDES Title: Our Bed is Green Format: Double CD Label: Kranky Country: USA Price: $15.50 |
| "Originally released on one cassette by the band in 1992 and later reissued as a limited edition compact disc on their Wholly Other label, Our Bed Is Green was the first release by Charalambides. Although no band is sui generis, anyone who heard the first recordings by Charalambides in 1992 could have been forgiven for thinking that of the duo. Our Bed Is Green was a recording that roped in folk, improvisation, psychedelia, blues and gospel into a crackling sound world unlike any other. Ranging across a 90 minute cassette and produced at home on four track, the music had only the means of production in common with the so-called lo-fi scene of the time. On their debut, Charalambides achieved the distinct otherness they retain to this day." - Kranky. |

Artist: CHARALAMBIDES Title: Unknown Spin Format: CD Label: Kranky Country: USA Price: $13.50 |
| "Christina Carter and Tom Carter have been recording and performing as Charalambides since 1991. Unknown Spin is the first in a series of reissues of Charalambides material on Kranky. Originally issued by the bands Wholly Other imprint in a CD-R pressing of 300 [with a track by Scorces], Unknown Spin is now available to a wider audience and will remain in print. Since their first self released cassette, Our Bed Is Green, Charalambides have shown themselves to be inheritors of the Texas psychedelic tradition, channellers of the American primitivist instinct, luminescent improvisers and creators of indescribable wonders. Now their music can be appreciated without anyone having to bid for a limited supply of CD-Rs online." - Kranky. |

Artist: GROUPER Title: A I A Format: Double CD Label: Kranky Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
| "This is the first CD issue of Groupers 2011 self released two part album subtitled Dream Loss and Alien Observer, comprised of songs written and recorded over the last four years. A chronological order informs the thematic trajectory of the dual release. Dream Loss is the first album and is a collection of older songs, while Alien Observer is mostly made of newer songs. Each is meant to stand solidly on its own, and also as a satellite in the others system, subjects on either side of the waters surface, on either side of a trick mirror; at times reflecting one back to the other, at times looking straight through to the other. Enough has been written about Grouper in the past few years that there is no need to wax poetic here. Suffice it to say that Liz Harris has created an exquisite sonic universe where she is the sole inhabitant, and we should consider it a privilege to listen in." -Kranky. |

| "When I was a teenager the wreckage of a sailboat washed up on the shore of Agate Beach. The remains of the vessel werent removed for several days. I walked down with my father to peer inside the boat cabin. Maps, coffee cups, and clothing were strewn around inside. I remember looking only briefly, wilted by the feeling that I was violating some remnant of this mans presence by witnessing the evidence of its failure. Later I read a story about him in the paper. It was impossible to know what had happened. The boat had never crashed or capsized. He had simply slipped off somehow, and the boat, like a riderless horse, eventually came back home. The Man Who Died in His Boat is an album of unreleased songs recorded alongside the Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill album." -Kranky. |

| "Growing are a trio based in Olympia, WA. The Skys Run Into The Sea is their debut album and is aptly named; like the horizon line it delineates a place where elemental forces collide and overlap. Using guitars, bass and electronics Growing create rows of ascending and descending intervals of noise and silence which move rhythmically and reveal latent harmonies and dynamics. Growing recorded and mixed the album in their hometown." -Kranky |

Artist: HAUSCHILDT, STEVE Title: Sequitur Format: LP Label: Kranky Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "From Steve Hauschildt: This new album was recorded in both Vancouver and Cleveland. I used almost 20 different instruments, from every decade from the 60s to the present, most of them synthesizers, drum machines and effects. This gives the album a much wider palette than my last, Tragedy & Geometry, and it also gives it a more classic/new sound, yet it is still a logical follow up to that LP. I also used some techniques in the studio where I controlled older instruments with the computer and this opened up new ways for me to explore their potential as well as their innate idiosyncrasies. I was very interested in the artificiality of vocal or choir-like sounds that emulate a person or group singing, and how this has evolved with the advancement of musical technology over the years. I also sang myself, and used a vocoder, not to sound robotic, but to remove the connotations of gender. Those sounds are androgynous because they carry both masculine and feminine characteristics. I was inspired to carry this idea into music mainly because of the work of Camille Paglia and Donna Haraway. I feel that the album in a sense treads the imaginary boundary between nature and artifice. It is postmodern, but not necessarily a post-Freudian statement on cyborg theory or feminism. Rather it is a musically mimetic domain where these ideas freely collide and coalesce. Exactly one year on from his last album, Steve Hauschildt returns with his most commanding work to date. Dense and lush arrangements conjure a retro-futuristic soundscape for a time that never was, or one that may yet arrive." - Kranky. |

Artist: HAUSCHILDT, STEVE Title: Tragedy & Geometry Format: CD Label: Kranky Country: USA Price: $14.00 |
| "Perhaps the least prolific and quietest of the three members of Cleveland trio EMERALDS, STEVE HAUSCHILDT is usually found at their live performances playing the serious scientist as foil to the other two members more animated stage presence. As a teen, Steve bypassed the typical young music fan obsessions over punk and hardcore musics, drawn instead towards mid-late 90s techno/electro-revivalism and finding himself alone in an electronic universe of his own choosing. Steve has always considered himself more of an artist than a musician, and sees his work both in group and solo settings as much a visual experience as it is an aural one. The title Tragedy & Geometry is an ambiguous but subtle reference to Melpomene (Muse of Tragedy) and Polyhymnia (Muse of Geometry), or more specifically the collision/overlap of what they invoke. The opening track is also a direct reference to "Polyhymnia, Muse of Eloquence", the painting by the French artist Charles Meynier on display at the Cleveland Museum of Art. The album is a treatise on the idea that technology is becoming more disposable as its becoming more accessible, and how this circumstance has a more evident/direct effect on the interpersonal, i.e. relations, with others in the so-called Age of Information. What results is a gorgeous, flowing, floating world of post-kosmische musik, Steve Hauschildts first widely available release, and his first major statement as a solo artist." -Kranky. |

Artist: HECKER, TIM Title: Ravedeath, 1972 Format: Double LP Label: Kranky Country: USA Price: $19.00 |
| "Tim Heckers latest work approaches a form of secular musical transcendentalism from within the battered temple of spirituality. Recorded in a church in Reykjavik, Iceland and using a pipe organ as the primary sound source, this new piece is essentially a live recording. In reality, it exists in a nether world between captured live performance and meticulous studio work, melding the two approaches to sonic artifice as a unity. It is in parts a document of air circulating within a wooden room, and also a pagan work of physical resonance within a space once reserved for the hallowed breath of the divine. While the title of the piece Hatred of Music might be a clue, the album is also partly an attempt to confront a pervasive negativity surrounding music. Historical rituals of destroying pianos, mountains of pirated CDRs pushed by bulldozers in Eastern Europe, or the melancholy of the digital music era began as sideline motifs which quickly informed the work on this record. They also really didnt at all. Despite that the context is wide open in such a form of musical abstraction, the substance of these immersive compositions showcases Heckers continued mastery of organizing sound into a visceral near entity. It is an almost physical presence that the listener feels as much as hears. This work is a significant contribution to Heckers oeuvre, one which spans over ten years of musical production. Ravedeath is an enigmatic document of beauty and force. The album was recorded mostly over the period of one day in July of 2010. Iceland-based musician Ben Frost assisted with the engineering and performs on this recording." -Kranky |

Artist: CORPORATION, THE Title: Get On Our Swing Format: LP Label: KS Country: Spain Price: $31.00 |
| "Second album by the band that managed to put Milwaukee in the musical map of the world. This is another story of a band who could have been at the top... and sadly werent. Despite recording their debut album with Capitol and opening for Cream on their North-American Tour, the record flopped and the band had to turn to the small label Age of Aquarius. The recordings that were made for their second Capitol album were spread between this and their third and final album. Any fan of psychedelic music will welcome this -- their music can be compared to bands the likes of Iron Butterfly or Cream, and at times to Freeborne. Really impressive musicianship by all band members, with Pat McCarthy on the B-3 Hammond deserving special consideration, and a psychedelic vibe all around. Fuzz guitar all over, great vocal harmonies, accurate horn arrangements and an occasional but wise use of a flute." -KS. |

|
"The KS Art Yard series is a collaboration between Kindred Spirits and Art Yard, presenting high-quality collectors editions of these classic records.
Salah Ragab formed the first jazz big band in Egypt (The Cairo Jazz Band) in 1968. He was also the leader of the Military Music Departments in Heliopolis and some of the best musicians in Egypt of that time were members of the band such as Zaki Osman (trumpet), Saied Salama (tenor sax), Khamis El ‐Kholy, (piano) and Ala Mostafa (piano). On this recording, the band consists of five saxophones, four trumpets, four trombones, piano, bass, drums, percussion and other exotic instruments. Salah Ragab accompanied the great band leader and composer Sun Ra on a tour in Egypt, Greece, France and Spain in 1984. He also studied jazz theories and improvisation with the jazz musician and composer from Kansas City Osman Kareem, with whom he formed the first jazz quintet in Cairo in 1963, recording with the Radio Service of Cairo. These recordings present Salah Ragab And The Cairo Jazz Bands definitive work, recorded in Heliopolis, Egypt between 1968 and 1973. The definitive work corresponds to the cross‐over of musical styles at the time of the recording, which were produced 6,000 miles away across the Mediterranean and Atlantic in New York with releases on Moodsville by Yusef Lateef and RCA by Ahmud Abdul‐Malik. Egyptian Jazz represents The Cairo Jazz Band responding to the American jazz scene of the 60s and 70s with influences from Mongo Santamaria to Randy Weston and Sun Ra. Artist: SUN RA Title: The Antique Blacks (Deluxe Edition) Format: LP Label: KS Art Yard Series Country: Netherlands Price: $25.00 |
|
"Although Sun Ra wouldnt have called Earth home, there were a couple of cities that proved to have considerable significance on him and his music, and Philadelphia was one of the places that he really felt in his element. With the Arkestra HQ based at Marshall Allens family home, a period of stability followed that resulted in some of Sun Ras most well‐loved albums like Lanquidity, Sleeping Beauty, and On Jupiter. With the Foxhole Cafe and WXPN‐FM radio studio, there were excellent facilities for Sun Ra to broadcast his music to the world. The vitality you can hear on 1978s Antique Blacks is a testament to the unique energy of the community around The Foxhole. From Arkestra sax‐man Danny Thompson running the local convenience store, to the small but perfectly-formed Philly Jazz label, to knickers being thrown at Ra during a concert at the Foxhole, Philly lit Sun Ras creative spark from 1968 right up to the early 90s. On Antique Blacks, Sun Ra blends elements of free jazz, off‐key synth explorations, and experimental theater into an otherworldly concoction that doesnt crop up anywhere else in the Arkestras massive discography. He relishes his role as galactic narrator, with lines like "Lets try something different for you... Something like being alive, hahahaha!" sounding more like a quote from Zoltar rather than the Afro‐futurist bandleader we all know. Antique Blacks takes its starting point from The Bible and slavery, and throws these issues into the contemporary political frame hurtling up‐to‐date with late 60s Civil Rights. At this time, the Arkestra typically consisted of 20 to 30 musicians, dancers, singers, and fire‐eaters, combined with elaborate lighting effects and playing sets for 2-3 hours non‐stop. The Arkestra was a regular fixture around Philly, giving lectures and community workshops, drifting among the bookshelves of the city library, and performing at the closing party of the very last night of the Foxhole in October 1982. Rumors of increased UFO sightings over the Philadelphia airspace are unfounded, but one thing is certain: Sun Ra and the Arkestra will go down in the chapters of Philadelphias rich jazz history, just as non‐earth‐dwellers will make pilgrimages to the human metropolis known as Philadelphia in light years to come. Comes with an insert featuring an unpublished photo and new liner notes by the Arkestras Michael Anderson. Housed in a rigid, spot-varnished outer sleeve and pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Limited numbered edition of 1000 copies." -KS Art Yard Series

Artist: SUN RA & HIS INTERGALACTIC MYTH SCIENCE SOLAR ARKESTRA Title: Sleeping Beauty (Deluxe Edition) Format: LP Label: KS Art Yard Series Country: Netherlands Price: $25.00 |
|
"This LP of Sun Ras from 1979 marks a pinnacle in one of the Arkestras most‐loved phases, as they embraced a funky, laid‐back groove and shuffled through three tracks of upfront bass, electric guitar, spacey Fender Rhodes, and Luqman Alis signature late snares. With this rhythmic core, the rest of the Arkestra step up with solos, slightly out-of-tune harmonies, and vocal chants. "Door Of The Cosmos" kicks the record off at a mid‐tempo pace with handclaps, vibraphones, a killer trumpet solo from Michael Ray, and a poetic chorus from June Tyson. But its "Springtime Again" and the title track "Sleeping Beauty" that really steal the show, so loose that they threaten to fall apart, yet somehow the music holds together as the group rock back and forth like a hammock. Its testament to Sun Ra as a band leader that he could get such restrained yet emotional performances from the Arkestra, floating in and out of time and tune, on the edge of disintegration. "Sleeping Beauty" stands out in Ras massive and varied discography as a true high point, with restrained and dreamy electric piano from the man himself, and hypnotic performances from Arkestra players like John Gilmore, Marshall Allen, Francisco Mora, Danny Thompson, James Jacson, and the Disco Kid on guitar. This is the album 70s-era Miles Davis and Joe Zawinul wished they could have made together, but it couldnt have come from anyone, or anywhere, else. A favorite of producers and music lovers like Madlib, Yo La Tengo, Carlos Nino, Jimi Tenor, Tortoise, 4Hero, Kirk Degiorgio, Carl Craig, and Theo Parrish, this LP is quite simply a masterpiece, and anyone with even the slightest interest in Sun Ra and jazz should check it out. Inspired space‐age lullaby music of the highest order. This essential Sun Ra deluxe edition is housed in a heavy, rigid cardboard outer sleeve and pressed on 180 gram vinyl. | "Whatever it was that sparked Sun Ra to investigate the funk between 1976 and 1979, we should all be thankful that he did. Having explored dreamy, languid rhythms before ‐- with off‐key arrangements and chants on records like New Steps, Lanquidity, Of Mythic Worlds, and Disco 3000 -‐ On Jupiter, originally released in 1979, sees Sun Ra really flexing his funk muscles, stretching the group like a rubber band. Blissful, flanged guitar threads its way throughout the title track, and Ra throws up piano chords and vamps all over an upfront, but fragmented bass pulse. But while the Arkestra might be getting their oblique grind on in the rhythm section, the music still carries those cosmic messages from the stars. Just as Ra transplanted the big band traditions of Fletcher Henderson and Duke Ellington into his own cosmic vision, here he takes the backbeat of funk and disco, and teleports it into another dimension. Despite revamping the current musical trends, the emotional core of this LP is something that Sun Ra never forgot. There is a story that when they were rehearsing ["UFO"], some of the musicians complained when Sonny asked them to listen to examples of currently popular disco records: "This is some hokey shit, Sonny," they said. "This hokey shit is somebodys hopes and dreams," he chided them. "Dont be so hip!" Something else to note on this singular LP is the way it has been mixed. Michael Ray, the horn player, was sent back to the Arkestra base by Sun Ra during the mixing session, and returned with "a handful of tapes," with which he then dubbed all kinds of percussion, guitar, and vocals into the studio mix ‐- bringing another ghostly, spacey element to the layers. This album stands out in one of Sun Ras most exciting creative periods, and its incredible to think of Ra, then in his mid‐60s, still pushing the group to further heights, and taking no prisoners. As he chants on "UFO": "I know you got a hiding place, somewhere deep in outer space! Watch out!" Housed in a heavy, rigid outer sleeve and pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Includes a printed inner sleeve with pictures. Limited to 500 copies." -KS Art Yard Series |

Artist: KUUPUU Title: Kulta Sulka Format: CDR Label: Kuupuu Country: Finland Price: $10.00 |
| "Its been well documented that something weird and wonderful is afoot in Finland, with legions of free folk experimenters emerging from the forests clutching recordings of handstiched psychedelia. Kuupuu is the work of Jonna Karanka, who has spent time in Avarus and The Anaksimandros, and her self-released solo outing Kulta Sulka is one of the many gems to hail from the Finnish scene. Her sound kaleidoscopes indicate a tenuous grip on the art of songwriting, often meandering into eerie loops of breathy woodwinds trapped in cyclonic infinitude, or murky collages distorted with cheaply rendered, sci-fi laser pings. Yet Karankas dreamily cracked songs are her strenght, and they ache with the melancholy of the best acid folk chanteuses the 70s had to offer. The elegant simplicity of her acoustic guitar and haunted toy box melodies shroud the album in dark, earthy spiritualism." - Jim Haynes / The Wire 268. |

Artist: EMMANUEL, J.D. Title: Solid Dawn Format: CD Label: Kvist Country: USA Price: $13.00 |
| "JD Emmanuels privately-pressed 1979 album Wizards accumulated a cult following through the early part of this decade, culminating with a vinyl reissue by Bread and Animals in 2006, which quickly sold out. Influenced by the organ works of Terry Riley and the kosmische school of krautrock, and rendered with a uniquely personal warmth, Emmanuels work stands out as something singular in the world of early basement electronics. Solid Dawn collects material from long out-of-print tapes, remastered for the first time, with participation from the artist at every stage. Featuring liner notes and photographs by Mr. Emmanuel, this is an essential release for anyone interested in the history of underground electronic music."-Kvist |

Artist: HAMILTON, TOM Title: Pieces For Kohn/Formal & Informal Music Format: Double CD Label: Kvist Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
| "Kvist Records presents this 2CD release, reissuing out-of-print works originally released on the artists own Somnath label. Although Tom Hamiltons more recent CDs (London Fix, Off-Hour Wait State, and Shadow Machine) are well known to fans of electronic music and reviewers alike, his earlier LP recordings became known as underground classics to the collectors of independent music from that era. This 2CD set was made from the original master tapes, and brings to light some of the best work of Hamiltons highly prolific St. Louis years, starting decades before he became involved with musical life in downtown New York. In the 1970s, Hamilton was working in semi-isolation, though connected to a burgeoning arts scene in St. Louis, and developing his idiosyncratic techniques with the ARP and Serge modular analog synthesizers of that era. The first CD, Pieces For Kohn, is comprised of four multi-layered electronic pieces, musical responses to four paintings by artist Bill Kohn. The second CD, Formal & Informal Music, contains the title piece Formal & Informal Music (1980), and Crimson Sterling (1973) -- both featuring improvisations by JD Parran, woodwinds, Rich ODonnell, percussion, and Hamilton on analog synthesizers. The music on these CDs establish some of Hamiltons most prominent style characteristics: clouds of fast pitches hinting at pointillistic and kinetic imagery; suggestions of tonality without real resolution; and highly-charged rhythms contributing to intricate textures -- sometimes existing on their own, sometimes offering accompaniment to improvising soloists." - Kvist. Includes a 20-page booklet with liner notes by Hamilton and historic photos. |

Artist: RAGLANI Title: Web Of Light Format: LP Label: Kvist Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "Raglanis use of analogue electronics is tied to traditional Krautrock by a thread of dark romanticism extending, in Germany, back to the work of Caspar David Friedrich. Epic and tumultuous landscapes as images of psychic space; hazardous journeys through awesome and forbidding worlds; the hair-blown viewer looking down onto incredible canyons The entire extended metaphor of Friedrichs work, linking the arc of a spiritual journey to the beautiful and tumultuous work of nature, is conserved in the work of the kosmische school. Raglanis relationship with the music of Schulze or Fricke is not retrospective, but contemporary. The musical commonalities proceed from a shared commitment to the elaboration of exotic musical spaces, pursued chiefly through melody, adorned by figurative electronic flourishes and concrète motifs. What is missed in alot of drone and noise is the ability of the sound to paint a scene; too often, were presented with a blandly ecstatic wash of lo-fi murk, more stoned than psychedelic. Raglani avoids these generic limitations by engaging more directly with the tradition to which his peers owe, arguably, the most considerable debt. What he deepens in that tradition is in the abstraction and development of themes spreading out the narrative through textural variation, rather than driving ever forward through arpeggios and circular rhythms. If Raglani avoids the ascending freakouts of early kosmische music, however, it is because everyday life today is freaked out enough on its own. What is needed, rather, are sounds that can address our already-piqued uncertainty by involving it in a story it might recognize as its own. So there is little here, also, to tether Raglani to the generic vibrations of noise and drone, though he uses some of the machines that make them; instead of any massive simultaneous display, secrets are revealed gradually and cumulatively. Raglanis voice may sound familiar at first, and there is no doubting its context and sources, but the events described by his music trickle out in shapes, and at a pace, uniquely his. The scenes he composes, surreal but distinct, have all the luster of real paint." Mike Ferrer. |

Artist: ASTOR Title: Alcor Format: LP Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "Alcor is the debut LP by a new voice from the Australian wilderness. Hailing from Ferntree Gully, Victoria, the music of Astor has thus far been appreciated only via a string of barely-distributed CDRs. Alcor gathers together the prime of these micro-editions and presents the material as a seductive and puzzling new whole. Field recordings of humble organic activity bend against a foundation of discreetly processed electronics/piano, creating sonorities that are as undefinable as they are unforgettable. Alcor is the ideal LP for fans of fringe position electro-acoustic study, Delphic audio confusion, or anyone who pines for the days when Small Cruel Party still roamed the earth. Mastered by Graham Lambkin, Alcor arrives in a full color high gloss sleeve, in an edition of 350 copies." - Kye. |

Artist: BASSETT, MARCIA & SAMARA LUBELSKI Title: Sunday Night, Sunday Afternoon Format: LP Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
|
"Sunday Night, Sunday Afternoon is the debut LP by the duo of Marcia Bassett and Samara Lubelski. Both musicians have played crucial roles in the development of underground sound over the last 20 years, tinting the broad waters of abstract folk, chromatic noise and long form drone, and cementing themselves as cornerstone artists in the process. Sunday Night, Sunday Afternoon is the perfect synthesis of Bassett and Lubelskis individual crafts - two sidelong forays into deep black string meditation that hang in the air like ghosts on Ludlow Street. Sunday Night, Sunday Afternoon was recorded/mixed by Barry Weisblat in 2010 in Brooklyn, NY, and arrives in a high gloss monochrome sleeve, in an edition of 500 copies." -Kye. |

Artist: BOWLES, THE Title: S/T Format: 7" Label: Kye Country: UK Price: $12.00 |
| "the bowles were a briefly extant australian trio of matthew p. hopkins, christopher schueler (r.i.p.) and mary macdougal. they came together in 2009 and plied their craft across the patchwork of warehouses, attics and d.i.y. artspaces connecting the blue mountains of new south wales to inner city sydney before imploding later that same year. although their time with us was short, the bowles creative bloom was towering and unforgettable. the bowles ep presents a six track overview of the groups modus operandi, recorded live to dictophone in sydney. murky cassette montages, strung out 3am ballads and exquisite corpse-style constructs unify and define an original voice that few have heard, until now. the bowles ep arrives in a pro-printed full color sleeve sporting mary macdougals painting getting together, and includes a full color bowles postcard, in a limited edition of 350 copies." -Kye. |

Artist: CALL BACK THE GIANTS Title: Call Back The Giants/Ms. Maris Lopez Format: 7" Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $12.00 |
|
"This is it. The debut release by Call Back The Giants, the new project by former Shadow Ring keyboard governor Tim Goss. Two helpings of brooding synth melodrama, delivered in classic home studio style. These are songs that speak of internal struggle, of consoling brutality, of a fantasy world where the author is king. For fans of Jasun Martz, Dr. Jeff Meldrum, Whitehouse, Lighthouse/"Lindus" and the many songs Goss has privately sung across the years. May these songs now be heard.
Arrives in one of three sleeve designs, each exposing a variant of the yeti/sasquatch profile, in a hand-numbered edition of just 100 copies. So this is it. This is the time." - KYE.

Artist: CALL BACK THE GIANTS Title: The Rising Format: LP Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
|
"Call Back The Giants first surprised and delighted the listening world in 2010, with their warmly-received eponymous debut album. Since that time, the duo of Tim Goss and Chloe Mutter have been locked in perfect isolation, teasing every nuance of their sound into sharp focus. The Rising presents the results of their toil, exposing Call Back The Giants as true masters of cryptic intent. Homespun keyboard minimalism, wavering teenage laments, and foreboding pronouncements of doom, synthesize into new, original matrices of thought. The Rising also introduces the guitar heroics of some-time third member, Big Rob Stewart, who lays down the law in crude basement style. The Rising is a masterpiece of ambition, that meets the expectations of its audience head on. The Rising arrives in a full-color, high gloss sleeve, with photography by Krysztoff Dorion, in an edition of 1000." -KYE.

Artist: DARGE, MONIEK Title: Crete Soundies Format: CD Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "Kye is pleased to announce the release of Crete Soundies, the major new work by Moniek Darge, and the follow-up to last years Soundies (1980-2001) CD. Crete Soundies presents three new pieces -- Magnesia (2006), Anemos (2007) and East Crete (2008-2009). These works were born from two years of Levka Ori sound research, and an additional year in east Crete in collaboration with fellow sound artist Francoise Vanhecke. Moniek Darge was born in Bruges, 1952 and studied music theory and violin at the Music Conservatory of Bruges, painting at the Ghent Royal Academy of Fine Arts; Art History, Philosophy and Anthropology at the University of Ghent, Belgium. She is active as composer, violinist, performer and audio artist and has built light and soundsculptures, installations, musical instruments and for many years has been constructing a series of alternative music boxes, with which she also performs. Darge has specialised in both soundscapes and live-art performances in which visual and musical aspects are combined and in interactional improvisation on violin. Since 1970 she has performed around the world and has been active on stage, first with the Logos Ensemble, then with Logos Duo (together with Godfired-Willem Raes), and more recently with the M&M robot ensemble. She also founded Logos Women, a small group specialised in intermedia improvisations performing their own compositions for various instruments, voices and music boxes. Crete Soundies comes housed in 6-panel digipak, in an edition of 500, and is released with the support of the Flemish Government." - KYE. |

Artist: DARGE, MONIEK Title: Soundies (Selected Work 1980-2001) Format: CD Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "Moniek Darge has been active as a composer, violinist, performer and audio artist since the early 70s. She is most widely recognized as one half of the pioneering new music group Logos Duo alongside her partner Godfried-Willem Raes. The Logos Duo, which operates under the umbrella of the Logos Foundation, have been celebrated both at home in their native Gent, Belgium and on the international stage. They have performed their work in countries as diverse as Brazil, New Zealand, Japan and the US. However, Monieks solo work has been harder to locate, the last published collection being Sounds of Sacred Places (Igloo Records, 1987). Soundies is the first in a series of releases from Kye that aims to bring Monieks solo material before a wider audience. Soundies contains the following work: Sand (1980) -for two percussionists with tape (electronics) and one participant from the audience / Stormfugle (1981) -for two performers, voice, tape (electronics and voice), slides, film, clarinet and violin / Fairy Tale (1983) -for vocals, violin and tape (koala sounds and dog-growling) / Harpje (1995) -for harp samples and performance / Caete (1997) -for soundscapes, live musical objects and duo / Verbondenheid (1999) -for voices, Turkish turtle and live musicians / Turning Wheel (2001) -for voice, live violin and soundscape. Artist: DARGE, MONIEK Title: Sounds Of Sacred Places Format: CD Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "New 2011 edition of this cornerstone sound art collection, originally published in 1987 on LP by Igloo. "In most ethnic cultures, sacred places serve an important social function. The qualities, typical of these places, explain to western people the magic magnetism of these "holy grounds". During our international Logos Duo concert tours we have had the opportunity to visit quite a few of these places. Uluru, the "Shadowgiving Mountain" of the Aborigines, better known under its western name of Ayers Rock (Australia), impressed us more than any other. The presence of water and an enormous monolith in the midst of the vast desert plain is given as an explanation for its magical appeal. But to the Aborigines, each little place of the rock contains tracks of their ancestors, the "Dreamtime People", who live in this mountain and speak to them in the sounds of the winds howling through the crevasses and rockholes. Uluru is also the dwelling-place of the "World Serpent", the most powerful totem shared by the surrounding tribes. Sounds of Sacred Places attempts to transform the listener into a living witness of the sounds of similar places, not far away in any specific ethnic culture, but in Flanders". (Moniek Darge, 1987). Sounds of Sacred Places arrives in a high gloss 4-panel digipak with accompanying 16 page booklet of photos and notes. Remastered from the original tapes by Moniek Darge at the Logos Foundation, Gent. Edition of 500." - KYE. |

Artist: ELKLINK Title: Rise of Elklink Format: LP Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
|
"The Rise of Elklink originally appeared as a cassette on the storied Polyamory label in 1999. Behind the ambiguous moniker lurked core Shadow Ring member Graham Lambkin, aided by Adris Hoyos with a cameo from fellow Shadow Ring bandmate Tim Goss. Although The Rise of Elklink was produced in tandum with The Shadow Rings Lindus LP, the two projects were different in intent. Song form and narration are replaced by walls of quiet, crumbling vocal concrete, meaningless stoned monologues and adjacent audio seepage, captured to 4-track in the backroom of a small Cuban crèche in Miami FL.
This LP reissue restores all six tracks from the original cassette, and adds the Elklink contribution to the Colour In Absence Sound CD comp from the same year. Lovingly remastered by Jason Lescalleet at Glistening Labs, The Rise of Elklink arrives in a sleeve design based on the original j-card with a deluxe insert reproducing Brad Sonders classic period review, in a hand-numbered edition of 500 copies." -KYE. Artist: FOSSILS Title: The Golden Door Format: 7" Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $12.00 |
|
"David Payne began building his Fossils empire back in 2004. Since that time Fossils has colonized the underground circuit with a steady flow of ultra-limited tapes/cdrs, many of them through Davids own Middle James Co imprint. The Fossils sound is always one of formless despair. Churning low-grade electronics, primitive tape manipulations, and an aura of stoned reverie are all genuine signatures.
Kye is pleased to offer Fossils a rare vinyl outing, showcasing two classic new works. The Golden Door delivers a lo-fi elevation over grey clouds of looping ferric tape, whilst War Puzzle could have been swept off the floor at Cold Storage - a strange and paranoid collage of crumpled guitar and collapsing sine waves. With both pieces edited/mixed by Graham Lambkin and mastered by Jason Lescalleet, this is Fossils like youve never heard them before.
The Golden Door arrives in one of three Lambkin-designed sleeves - each depicting the back of someones head, in a hand-numbered edition of only 100 copies. Dig in." -KYE

Artist: FOSSILS/DARKSMITH Title: Million Year Spree Format: LP Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "Million Year Spree is the first in an occasional series of shared LPs where two like-minded souls meet under one umbrella. Hamilton, Ontarios Fossils have long been the reigning kings of no-fi acoustic sewage, producing an endless stream of outstandingly dire handcut confusion. Calfornias Darksmith came to public attention last year via their peerless Total Vacuum LP (Hanson). Wilting electronics, floppy turntableism and sun-baked cassette protocol are combined and destroyed in a claustrophobic void. With additional mixing by Graham Lambkin and mastering by Jason Lescalleet Million Year Spree is the last word on being and nothingness. Hand-numbered edition of 400." - KYE. |

Artist: HELM Title: Cryptography Format: LP Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
|
"Helm is the ambiguous solo moniker of London-based sound architect Luke Younger. Although, perhaps best known as one half of the pioneering avant-drone outfit Birds of Delay, it is in the more esoteric work of Helm that Lukes art takes on its most radical shape. 2010s debut LP To An End confirmed that in an age of fleeting trends and fly-by-night fancies, there were still a few old souls prepared to knuckle down and deliver the goods that people want to receive. Cryptography carries forward that noble mindset, presenting a new five-part suite of expertly rendered electro-acoustic study. Using processed piano, Casio MT-40, cymbal and guitar strings Cryptography steers the Helm sound through a melange of fringe territories: glacial drone meditations, reconfigured gamelan clusters, and howling walls of organized feedback, all coalesced in classic UK post-industrial fashion. Indeed, had it been conceived of 30 years prior, it would be easy to imagine Cryptography winning a seat in the United Dairies, or Dom America catalog, such is its commitment to homemade exploratory zeal. Cryptography arrives in a full color sleeve, with insert, in a hand-numbered edition of 400 copies." -Kye.

Artist: IDEA FIRE COMPANY Title: Music From The Impossible Salon Format: LP Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $18.00 |
|
"For the past 25 years, New Englands Idea Fire Company (IFCO) have positioned themselves at the frontline in the ageless battle for aesthetic purity. Founded by the enigmatic duo of Scott Foust (aka The Commander, aka The Last Great Man) and Karla Borecky, IFCO have built up a bulletproof discography, with each release refining the sound of its predecessor. They have been well served at home through their own Swill Radio imprint, and internationally, by Rund Um Den Watzmann, Entracte and, most recently, Ultra Eczema, who published the outstanding Beauty School LP.
Music From The Impossible Salon finds the IFCO sound honed into eight elegant settings that variously combine piano, synth, radio, trombone, organ, gong and voice.
Using minimal, yet striking gestures, Music From The Impossible Salon reveals itself to be a dusky pleasure center, where the jaded listener can find discreet interuption from the horrors of the day. Recorded at Wunderwaffen Studios, Nov/Dec 2010, and expertly mastered by Grammy-nominated producer Zupe, Music From The Impossible Salon allows the raw essence of IFCO to ring out like never before. Housed in a Foust/Borecky designed sleeve, the "charming phenomenon" that is Music From The Impossible Salon is now ready to greet its audience." - KYE.

"Poem is Graham Lambkins (Shadow Ring, Tart, Transmission, etc..) first solo LP, and it is a doozy. Slowed down voice, water sounds, a little bit of radio, and some odd hisses and hums all combine for a very linear and yet insane listening experience. The sound soon becomes a strange syrup that surrounds the listener in its devilishly well-crafted coccoon. The editing is very subtle, but very rewarding to the patient listener. And: (1) this is one of the top records to listen to with that last drink at 5 or 6 AM (it works!); and (2) this can easily sort out the contenders from the pretenders at any social gathering. A real favorite of mine." - Scott Foust.

Artist: LESCALLEET, JASON Title: Fantasy and Electricity b/w Dictaphone Music/Organ Music Format: 7" Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $12.00 |
|
"Jason Lescalleet has been a monolithic presence in underground culture for nigh on 15 years. Here towers a man who has steadily advanced a music of great focus and originality. A man whose craft is born from that which others pronounce dead. Jason Lescalleet stands at the intersection where musique concrète, power electronics, tape composition and minimalism touch. His is a voice that is heard on the world stage. That is recognized and described.
Through his recorded work and in live performance Jason has known the company of such great men as Joe Colley, John Hudak, Phill Niblock and Greg Kelley, to name but few. His art has found publication on such revered imprints as RRR, Erstwhile and his own Glistening Labs. And it is with no small pride that Kye now adds itself to the list.
Fantasy and Electricity is Jason at his most forward-facing. A shimmering futuristic stomper pried from the ballrooms of Cologne, whilst Dictophone Music/Organ Music offers two miniature studies, both rich in granular detail.
Fantasy and Electricity arrives in one of three sleeve designs each sporting original photography by Jason, in an edition of only 100 copies. For the fortunate few the fantasy is about to become a reality." - KYE.

Artist: MELCHIOR, DAN Title: Excerpts (& Half-Speeds) Format: LP Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $15.00 |

"Dan Melchior is known by many as a long-standing footsoldier of garage rock. Throughout his fifteen years of service Dan has gained a reputation as being one of the few in his field willing to test the flexibility of an otherwise stagnant genre. Last years brilliant Assemblage Blues LP (Siltbreeze) showed Dan scratching at the bars of his cage, restricted by the very domain he dominates. Excerpts (& Half-Speeds) is Dan Melchiors hammer in the mirror. The three new compositions that make up Exotic Exit were developed between 2010-2012 in both live performance and home studio settings. Mundane field recordings taken in Austin, TX and NYC are laced with viola, violin, cello, dulcetina and glockenspiel to create densely structured sound beds that smudge the line between Ferrari-esque audio travelogs and the hallucinatory sound processing of prime Asmus Tietchens. Exotic Exit arrives in a full color high gloss sleeve with design/layout by Matthew Revert, in an edition of 400 copies." - Kye |

Artist: ROSSETTO, VANESSA Title: Mineral Orange Format: LP Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
|
"Vanessa Rossetto is a composer and painter living in Austin, Texas. She uses primarily chamber instrumentation, field recordings, electronics and a wide array of different objects, exploring them through extended and traditional techniques. In 2008, she launched her own CD-R label, Music Appreciation, and through this imprint has released four solo albums: Misafridal, Imperial Brick, Whoreson in the Wilderness and the award-winning Dogs in English Porcelain. Her most recent release, the PDD-NOS (Period Tapes) cassette was described by Byron Coley in The Wire as sounding like being under attack from slow-moving dune worms. Mineral Orange presents four new works, each showcasing Vanessas deep commitment to abstract sound situations. These pieces exist as precision-edited travelogs of Vanessas questing. Local sounds, audio verite and overlayed string interludes are scrambled into surreal matrices of time, place and event. Mineral Orange was recorded and produced in Austin, Texas in 2010, with additional production by Steven Flato and mastering by Jason Lescalleet at Glistening Labs, ME. Mineral Orange arrives in an elegant Rossetto-designed sleeve, in a hand-numbered edition of 300 copies." - KYE.

Artist: RUSHFORD, JAMES/JOE TALIA Title: Manhunter Format: LP Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "Manhunter is the brand new LP by Australias James Rushford and Joe Talia. The duos previous work, Palisades (2009) and Paper Fault Line (2011), showcased a gestural and timbrally rich music, bristling with keen detail and sharp edits. Manhunter stands in stark contrast - an ebbing two-part suite for waning greyscale electronics, dehumanized drum machine, amorphous vocal fragments, and sundry devices, woven together in a fabric of despair. The exquisite bleakness of Manhunter ties it to La Mutazione, Abandoned Cities, Theme From Hunger, and other great downer classics of yore. Manhunter arrives in a full-color high gloss Michael Salerno designed sleeve, with complimentary labels, in an edition of 400 copies." -Kye. |

Artist: SHADOW RING, THE Title: Life Review (1993-2003) Format: Double CD Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $28.00 |
|
"The Shadow Ring formed in the seaside town of Folkestone, England in 1993. Over the course of a decade, and through eight LPs, Graham Lambkin, Darren Harris and later Tim Goss scraped out a unique musical pathway for themselves, armed with only the barest of tools. With each release the Shadow Ring presented themselves as a group in constant flux. Naive acoustic improvisations, dour bedroom sci-fi epics, cryptic D.I.Y. theatre and glacial electronic soundscapes all became fair game in their hands. The group recorded for some of the premier underground labels of the era: Siltbreeze, Corpus Hermeticum, Swill Radio and their own Dry Leaf Discs were all at one time or another called home. The Shadow Ring were also champions of the absurd -- never playing live in their home country, they instead performed 23 shows across the US between 1995-97. The life of the Shadow Ring finally came to pass on the banks of the Hudson River in 2003. Life Review offers a celebration of the Shadow Rings oeuvre -- from the green chaos of 1993s Dont Open The Window 7" on through to the austerity of 2003s Im Some Songs LP. Featuring material from each of their albums: City Lights, Put The Music In Its Coffin, Wax-Work Echoes, Live In U.S.A., Hold Onto I.D., Lighthouse, Lindus and Im Some Songs, alongside 7" A and B sides, comp appearances, and a clutch of previously unreleased live and studio work, Life Review is an anthology that will serve both the aged fan, and the curious newcomer. Expertly mastered by long-time enthusiast Bhob Rainey, Life Review flushes out the rich sonic detail of the Shadow Rings music like never before. Housed in a deluxe six-panel digipak, with an accompanying 16 page color booklet of photos, flyers, sleeve art etc, Life Review also offers an untainted visual history of the group. With 34 tracks -- personally chosen by Graham Lambkin, and a running time of 154 minutes, Life Review offers the perfect chance to say a final farewell. One more time." -KYE. Very highly recommended!

Artist: VINCENT OVER THE SINK Title: Dust Studies Format: 7" Label: Kye Country: USA Price: $8.00 |
|
"Memorial release from the Sydney-based duo of Matthauw Hopkins and Christopher Schueler (RIP). Over a handful of lathes/CDRs and the mind-boggling 22 Coloured Bull-Terriers cassette Vincent Over The Sink managed to cloud the backwaters of Australian culture with a haze of rustic elec...tronics, late-night guitar habitats and broken song. This is music made by and for those who find themselves "thinking about music but then digging a hole." Dust Studies offers up four distressed miniatures that put the fortunate listener somewhere between Ladder of Souls and Golem. The perfect place to pay a final respect. Dust Studies comes in a hand-numbered edition of 300 copies with cover art by Graham Lambkin." - Kye.
