Artist: CHERRY BLOSSOMS, THE
Title: S/T
Format: CDR
Label: Skulls of Heaven
Country: USA
Price: $10.00
"Josephine Foster bravely travelled to Nashville to seek out the legendary southern folk song and cosmic kazoo medicine show known as the Cherry Blossoms. Eventually Josephine did track them down and soon (as one could only dream of...) the sprawling jams did spin and the heartfelt social songs did ring. Josephine stayed on for a nice long spell recording and living among the Cherry Blossoms for a couple weeks. Many months later, I came through Nashville on my annual pilgrimage, and when John Allingham and Peggy Snow (voices and authors of most Cherry Blossoms songs) gave me a cdr documenting their favorite audio snapshots of Josephines visit, I was thrilled to hear how organically Peggy and Johns songs mix with Josephines songs and weave in between and throughout the sprawling backporch Cherry Blossom jams. As usual, the Cherry Blossoms ramshakle eight piece band wheezes and whirs through the skeletons of their compositions, bending time and tone until complete chaos is just around the corner. Then typically, the stoned percussion wizard or the holwing antics of Peggy Snow will eventually shuffle everyone back into place as they begin to charge forward into some frenzy that only Hasil Adkins or Henry Flynt could have dreamt of. This dynamic album manages to cover many of the moods of this complex musical organism. From blue mountain meditations, hard cider country swing, still southern nights with all the windows open, backporch hillbilly hysterics wrap around campfire prayers... you may never get another chance to hear Americana quite like this again." - Skulls of Heaven.

Artist: WOODEN WAND AND THE SKY HIGH BAND
Title: Wasteland of the Free
Format: CDR
Label: Skulls of Heaven
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"In the Fall of 2006, James Jackson Toth (sometimes aka Wooden Wand) dreamt of a decadent "Rolling Thunder" styled tour and proceeded to hit the road to bring his simple songs to life with the electricity of a full scale, seven piece freewheeling rock and roll ensemble. This crew featured Glenn, Shayde, and Jason (from Skygreen Leopards, Giant Skyflower Band, Flying Canyon, Papercuts, and various other Bay Area and Jewelled Antler related outfits) on guitars and bass, Kelly (from Lazarus, Red Leaf Black Bird, etc) on drums, Clay (Zodiac Mountain, Totem, Hintergedanken) on electric piano and organ, and James and Jessica on vocals (wwvv, Totem, Oath, etc). After recording every show of the tour, this full length live album was compiled featuring some of the very best moments. This includes the definitive cult kosmic blues version of "the Pushers" as well as other new and classic Wooden Wand material rendered mercilessly vital by this heavyset crew. This is about as real as it gets, the heaviest "from the road" set by far. As usual, seven creepy loners forced into a van, driving eachother to their wits end, and all the while smoking every stage up and down the West coast. Comes packaged in the usual "from the road" style digipacks, limited to 277 copies.." -Skulls of Heaven
