Artist: ETRON FOU LELOUBLAN
Title: Les Trois Fous Perdegagnent...
Format: LP
Label: Replica
Country: France
Price: $24.00
"Etron Fou Leloublan are one of the more important offshoots of the RIO movement. This French quartet originated in the mid-70s with bassist-vocalist Ferdinand Richard, saxophonist Chris Charnet, drummer Guigou Chenevier and vocalist Eulalie Ruynat." "Has to be one of the best of the honest to goodness RIO albums. The album is very fast paced and active, with instruments of rock, jazz, and French folk all coming out quick and playful, and drums pounding away with fury. The record is just plain a fun listen. Nicolas is the best track, and its our rambunctious opener, showing off the bands lighter side, and the second best, Those Distant Waters, is one of the two drum workouts and a chilling cut about seafaring. Beyond the obvious enjoyment, LPG features some wonderful strangeness and complexity from our Francais friends, with the aforementioned instruments constantly rotated to allow for many different sounds... An avant romp done to perfection, I would recommend this masterpiece to anybody and everybody. And perhaps this is the best introduction to avant-prog." - Replica.

Artist: HEDAYAT, DASHIEL & GONG
Title: Obsolete
Format: LP
Label: Replica
Country: France
Price: $24.00
"...cult classic album, generally believed by many Gong fans and French psych music fans to be the best Gong album out there. Released as a solo album by French beat figure Dashiell Hedayatt in 1971, "Obsolete" offers up a musical polaroid picture of Gong metamorphosing from whimsical slightly clumsy psych rock act to the floating space creature that went on to make Camembert Electrique (shortly after this LP), and the Radio Gnome Invincible Trilogy. This is in most respects a super-secret disguised Gong album, with Daevid Allen and cronies providing instrumental backing whilst poet Hedayat himself takes (mainly spoken) lead vocals. A hidden gem of the bands history. Canterbury historians will also be happy to note the presence of William Burroughs; Burroughs small cameo somehow makes the album shift into overdrive, taking the remaining part of the album "from breathtaking pulsing musical scenery to terrific jams that foresaw the coming supersonic fifth gear of the later Radio Gnome Invincible days: the side long Cielo Drive 17 pips the atmospheres from backyard dreamings to full solar voyages peeping awkwardly out the periscope - with Daevid Allen at his most relentless and Malherbe on a most inspired flute stint waaaay above the music like a distant satellite." Many rate this among the most important French rock releases—up there with Gainsbourg and Vanniers "Histoire de Melody Nelson", Igor Wakhevitchs Logos," and Magmas MDK." - Replica.

Artist: MOVING GELATINE PLATES
Title: s/t
Format: LP
Label: Replica
Country: France
Price: $24.00
"Debut album from legendary early French band, mainstay’s of the Nurse With Wound list, led by bass player Didier Thibault. Obviously influenced by Soft Machine and Frank Zappa, this original and very fine progressive rock outfit generate complex melodies and polished arrangements by the score. Elaborate themes full of breaks, and following surprising paths. The music develops by the association, superposition, blendings of the themes (more than four-hundred and fifty on the second album!), original sound combinations (organ or bass as solo instruments, trumpet, saxophone, flute, drums, vocals). The eponymous album was recorded in 1972, followed by the great "The World Of Genius Hans" twelve months later." - Replica.

Artist: MOVING GELATINE PLATES
Title: World of Genius Hans
Format: LP
Label: Replica
Country: France
Price: $24.00
The second Moving Gelatine Plates album, originally issued in 1972. "The World of Genius Hans is often given the nod over Moving Gelatine Plates self-titled debut album as their defining moment, which is surprising considering both albums are extremely close in quality. The opening title track showcases the bands ability to craft a lengthy composition of gradually unfolding, substantial development. While the exhilarating jerkiness and trademark tendency to unexpectedly jump from theme to theme is certainly still there, the group seems to rely less on the unrelenting aural assaults and machine gun choppiness of the first record. Tracks like Funny Doll and the sublime Astromonster are quintessential MGP; distorted bass lines, gorgeous horn melodies, fascinating harmonies and amorphous rhythms that never sit still. The former is perhaps the most vocal heavy the band ever got, while the latter encompasses virtually all their strengths, making it the most perfect six minutes on either album. With all that said, its virtually impossible to pick a favorite from between the two albums. A classic album and perfect representation of the eclecticism of the French progressive rock movement of the 70s." - Replica.

Artist: PAZOP
Title: Psychillis Of A Lunatic Genius
Format: LP
Label: Replica
Country: France
Price: $24.00
"Arisen from the ashes of famous Belgian bands The Wallace Collection, Waterloo and Arkham, Pazop signed a contract and recorded this first album in 1972. Unfortunately, the label refused to release the record due to its title. Influenced by Zappa and the Canterbury scene, and recorded at the famous Hérouvilles castle, this mythical album now appears on vinyl for the first time ever!" The group achieved an interesting synthesis of pop and classical, using real string instruments (violin, cello), yet amplified, instead of using electronic substitutes (such as mellotron) to reproduce orchestral sounds." - Replica.

Price: $24.00
"After the recording of their aborted first album, these ex-members of famous Belgian bands Wallace Collection and Waterloo recorded new songs in the summer of 1973 at Start Studios. Widely influenced by King Crimson and Weather Report, the amazing results of these recordings are now available on vinyl for the first time!" "Continually inventive Canterbury/jazz styled album that is very close to groups like Moving Gelatine Plates or Supersister, sharing both groups penchants for creating strange and humourous music with more than a hint of invention. The music is very crazy, shuttling between jazz and rock with furious instrumentals with lots of flute and violin." - Replica.

Artist: WEIDORJE
Title: s/t
Format: LP
Label: Replica
Country: France
Price: $24.00
"A vinyl reissue of a hard to find album from 1978. Weidorje  (celestial wheel), was formed in 1977 by two ex-MAGMA members, Bernard Paganotti and Patrick Gauthier (also keyboardist for HELDON, a group that featured Richard Pinhas) One of Zheuls children, probably the most faithful and the closest musically and spiritually to MAGMA. A sizzling masterpiece created by what was a veritable super group of top jazz and rock musicians. Savage stuff with an anguished vibe, a strong rhythm section, ultra vitriolic guitar leads, dissonent sax breaks, and dark incantations. 180 gram vinyl." - Weidorje.

Artist: ZAO
Title: Z=7L
Format: LP
Label: Replica
Country: France
Price: $24.00
"For those not familiar with Zao, they were the first true Magma spin-off band, formed by reedsman Yochko Seffer and pianist Francois "Faton" Cahen, at a time when their creative role within that band was diminishing and all the writing duties were being taken over by Christian Vander... a long story for another day. While strongly rooted in the zeuhl tradition of Magma, Seffer and Cahen brought forth their unique musical vision in this 1973 release. They wanted to give the bands music an original color by integrating the most particular of instruments, the human voice. Mauricia Platons wordless vocals go beyond Magma and are a perfect accompaniment to Zaos singular form of jazz. Her voice, Jean-Yves Rigauds violin, and Seffers soprano sax intertwine through a complex matrix of rhythm and sound. At times the music and singing are dark and aggressive like Magma and later Shub Niggurath. At others it is light and airy. There is plenty of space in the music for improvisation at all levels, and Zao are the masters of that craft, as evidenced on spirited and energetic tracks like Ronach and Atart. It doesnt get much better than this, folks!" - Lysergic Sound Distributors.
