Artist: BROUK, JOANNA
Title: Hearing Music
Format: Double LP
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $23.00
“She was a composer who wrote scores with geometric shapes, a poet who became a pioneer of early electronic music. Joanna Brouks little-known body of work exists at the nexus between ambient, new age, drone, and classical minimalism—stark in its simplicity, lush in its expanse.
Studying under Robert Ashley and Terry Riley at the fabled Mills College Center For Contemporary Music before graduating into the margins of the 70s bay area new music scene, Ms. Brouk blazed her own trail well outside of the musical establishment to create uncompromising electronic and acoustic work of sleek beauty and primal power. Describing herself as less a composer than a channel, she took her cues from the frequencies of the natural world and the talents of collaborators like Maggi Payne and Bill Maraldo. Hearing Music collects for the first time the deepest cuts from her beguiling and rare cassette releases and her archive of previously unreleased recordings.”- Numero Group.

Artist: BULBOUS CREATION
Title: You Wont Remember Dying
Format: LP
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
“A truly underground document of the national obsession with heavy, mind-bent psychedelia. Originating in the unassuming suburb of Prairie Village, Kansas, Bulbous Creation seem to have warped directly from the wrong side of the looking glass with a jabberwocky full of surreal lyrics and gratuitous guitar solos. Recorded and abandoned in the catacombs of Independence, Missouris Cavern Sound studio in 1969, Bulbous Creations eight-song screed invokes images of sinners, wage slaves, drugs, out of touch parents, jail, and the devil, naturally.” - Numero Group.

Artist: CAVE DWELLERS, THE
Title: Run Around
Format: Double 7"
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"Recorded in 1967 at Chicagos Universal Studios and laboriously laden with Buckinghams-style horns and strings, the Cave Dwellers thought theyd locked their first hit down. Given just a few minutes to produce a B-side, the quintet unleashed their primitive and theretofore-unheard power. Run Around ended up a punk precursor that took contemporary rock to its tough, angry, and logical conclusions, scorching past anything the radio ran in its day. Intending only to tear off something fast and easy, the Dwellers had achieved one of Chicago garage rocks most ferocious moments. That original Jim-Ko single has been reproduced alongside two previously unissued rockers and housed in a glorious gatefold sleeve with copious notes and quotes from a confused newsman about the longhair invasion." -Numero Group.

Artist: DE LA SIERRA, JORDAN
Title: Gymnosphere: Song of the Rose
Format: Double LP
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $23.00
“Before New Age hit terra firma at the dawn of the 1980s, the classically-trained Bay Area composer Jordan De La Sierras consciousness soared with cosmic concepts. With cues and lessons from the great minimalists La Monte Young, Terry Riley, Pandit Pran Nath, and help from the venerable public radio program Hearts of Space, De La Sierra embarked on journey in alternate tunings and resounding reverberations, transporting entranced listeners from the Golden Gates to the intergalactic. Take an interstellar ride on the sensory engulfing space piano with this lovingly recreated double LP set, complete with De La Sierras India-inspired visual artwork and musings on the tableau of space.”- Numero Group.

Title: Celestial Soul Portrait
Format: CD
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"Inspired by the infinitely numbered harmonies transmitted by Vista, a benevolent being from a distant dimension, Iasos broke ground for a new age of electronic sound manipulation. His was pioneering work -- done from a bohemian boat-slip home office -- on some of the first commercially available synthesizers and, on stage, into the kaliedoscopic heart of psychedelic-era concert visuals. As life-affirming and attuned to spirit as Iasos soul portraits were, prestigious psychology departments heard in them the tones humans hear at the precipice between life and death. Before ambient and new age were so named and codified, the Paradise Music of Iasos -- represented here by 13 selections transmitted between 1975 and 1985 -- brought Earth-transcriptions of a vast and galactic sound healing to a planet much in need." - Numero Group.

Artist: JOHNSON, OTIS G.
Title: Everything - God is Love 78
Format: LP
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $17.00
"For outsider gospel visionary and Detroit native Otis G. Johnson, the Holy Ghost was in the machine... in this case a rhythm-equipped Hammond organ. Everything - God Is Love 78, a singular 1978 mid-fi document, features android percussion against chords of Otiss own invention, possessed by minor tonality and frequent bum notes. Lifting it further are extemporaneous vocal homilies to the rapture, love, and everything, plus occasional other voicings that scratch at the periphery of the mix. Homespun gospel rarely entered this dirge-like, intuitive space, nor did it commonly achieve such a spectral and captivating hymn to its darkest conventions." -Numero Group.

Title: First Step Beyond
Format: LP
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $32.00
"Chicagos reputation will forever be tainted by the horn-ravaged corniness of their eponymous band. Medusas First Step Beyond could have forever altered the perception of Chicago rock history had it managed to make the leap from tape to its destined vinyl pressing. Instead, this mish-mash of Sabbath, Hawkwind, and Amon Duul II remained petrified in the Corycian Caverns, or rather the drummers basement. Self produced on four track in 1975, the sole transmission from Medusas repertoire appeared on the extremely mysterious Pepperhead label, whose proprietor allegedly disappeared after a bad trip and has never been seen again. Housed in cushy mock-velvet and screened in blood red and gold, and art directed from the bands elaborate original stage props and artwork, we have positioned this unreleased opus to finally reach its destination: the turntables of pot-smoking teenagers, young and old." -Numero Group.

Artist: PISCES
Title: A Lovely Sight
Format: LP
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $20.00
Deluxe gatefold LP version. "By the late 60s, radio-delivered psychedelia had saturated even the heartland. A Lovely Sight, Pisces only attempt at an LP, never made wax; but the fuzz guitar phrases and tambourine shuffle of Dear One instantly illustrate the bands woozy realm. Deeper inside, bass scales borrowed from Sgt. Pepper give way to Who moves wrecked by bad fidelity and harsh intrusions of found audio. Jefferson Airplanes swirled, lysergic Haight Street utopia melds with the urban narcosis of the Velvet Undergrounds East Village. But Pisces hailed from another ghost town altogether: Rockford, Illinois, where rusted, endless plains bear close resemblance to a bummer acid trip or a junkies rock bottom. In 1969, the industrial Midwest was hurting for the hard stuff, but what it got was plenty of the White Album -- enough to have Jim Krein, Paul DiVenti and Linda Bruner recording through a glass onion all their own. The unsettling balance of their unissued LP combines homespun psychedelic vision and secondhand studio trickery with naive readings of the rock sound of the day, resulting in a diverse, haunted rock headspace few coastal bands ever flew through, let alone over." - Numero Group.

Title: Mustache in Your Face
Format: Double 7"
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"Recorded in an actual cave in western Missouri, the quartet formerly known as the Fabulous Four emerged from the depths in 1969 with an albums worth of wasted psychedelia. Helmed by the Electric Prunes Michael Quint, the session produced one promo-only 45, bearing the truly un-pretty Squeakie label -- a madmans face in red-on-white, howling out of the spindle hole. The songs blend backwards guitar lines, flamenco runs, triple-tracked vocals, heavy distortion, handclaps, key vamps, a Stones rip, and extremely absurd lyrical content. Mustache in Your Face and its flip have been paired with two other magical numbers, their five business card story, and stuffed into a cherry gatefold sleeve." - Numero Group.

Artist: SIXTH STATION, THE
Title: Deep Night
Format: LP
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $17.00
"A raw cry from the dark night of one mans soul. Cloistered away from the popular culture of 1982, rural Illinois priest Tony Trosley painted a pastoral refraction of early 1970s Laurel Canyon watercolors with this stand-alone set of songs. Openhearted and naively psychedelic, Deep Night was recorded during a single pre-dawn marathon, and mixed live-to tape in an isolated chapel. Cobbled together out of local players to help fill out this ethereal soundscape, Trosleys band brought an earnest but bluntly unsophisticated backdrop to his phaser-drenched 12-string guitar. The Sixth Station -- named for a grim New Testament tableau in which Veronica washes the tortured face of Jesus -- managed to avoid overtly Christian themes in favor of a mystical humanism that resonates timelessly, and to any sort of listener. This Deep Night is as profound and eerie as the images conjured by its title." -Numero Group.

Title: Boddie Acetate Box
Format: Triple 7" Boxset
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $19.00
"Three 45s with original Boddie acetate artwork plus extensive notes, housed in a 7" shipping box, and sealed with faximile Boddie paper shipping tape. From 1965 until 1987, husband and wife Thomas and Louise Boddie provided the greater Cleveland, Ohio, area with custom recording and affordable record manufacturing. The Boddie Recording Company operated out of the African-American couples house on the east side of Cleveland, complete with a fullservice, hand-wired analog recording studio and a busy pressing plant steaming around the clock in a converted dairy barn at the back of the estate. A kaleidoscope of northern Ohio musical acts used the Boddie services in one way or another, booking time in the tracking room, cutting reference acetates, or pressing a couple hundred 45s for local distribution. Selecting from the reliable parade of musicians crossing paths with his enterprise, Thomas found time to curate his own stable of talent through his Soul Kitchen, Luau, Caribi, Plaid, and Bounty labels. But by and large, Boddie Recording Company was not a creative endeavor for Thomas or Louise. Instead, it made the Boddies an honest living by providing teenage bands and aspiring gospel ensembles an inexpensive shot at having their own creations laid to wax. Of these hundreds of groups, weve selected three that were found in unmarked boxes, never picked up, certainly never released. The labels are a facsimile of the Boddies custom acetate sticker, pressed on 48 gram vinyl, housed in a tape box, and sealed with Boddie Recording kraft tape." -Numero Group

Title: Good God! Apocryphal Hymns
Format: Double LP
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $23.00
"The third installment in Numeros series of otherworldly gospel, robed funk, and spiritual soul, Apocryphal Hymns is a slim new gospel songbook, penned powerfully by the genres lesser-known disciples. Here, heavenly harmonies, psychedelic guitars, damaged sacred steel, a bleeding French horn, off-kilter choirs, and consumer-side electronic percussion decorate the Word, with performance modes that stray far from the flock, but hew always to the message. In homage to the stock jacket record industry of the 1970s, select one of these four alternate covers: woodland twilight, seashore morning, mountain waterfall, and sunbeam canyon. Gatefold double LP version." -Numero Group.

Title: Titan: Its All Pop!
Format: 4 LP Box Set
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $56.00
"From 1978-1981 the Titan label issued only eight records, but over the years their tiny catalog has crawled to the top of power-pop want lists worldwide and appeared on scads of bootleg cassettes, building a legacy to rival L.A.s Bomp or New Yorks Ork. Located in fly-over country, Titan was forced to start their own scene, import their own skinny ties, and scour Missouri for their own talent. Their midwest AM bubblegum roots are apparent in the likes of Gary Charlson, the Secrets*, Arlis!, Gems, Millionaire At Midnight, the Boys, J.P. McClain & the Intruders, Bobby Sky, and Scott McCarl, but Titan was clearly influenced by the glam-punk spit being hocked from the 100 Club stage. Thirty years since they meekly flopped out their first 7" single, Kansas Citys Titan Records finally returns to record bins everywhere in a deluxe 4LP retrospective boasting ten bonus tracks not on the double CD, and a comprehensive 24-page book." -Numero Group.

Title: Warfaring Strangers: Darkscorch Canticles
Format: Double LP
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $23.00
“With Warfaring Strangers: Darkscorch Canticles, the impacts of Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath on US shores and heartlands is revealed as a bludgeoning previously undescribed. In this collection, medieval Bonham thunk and febrile Iommi guitar leads crowd out the bluesy Americana that foregrounded those bands, replacing hippie pastoralism with mythology, armored conflict, sorcery, and doom. From legions of occult-obsessive 1970s bonehead teens, we summoned a horde of 16 bands, cloaked in eons of tortured obscurity, whose sole release amounts to a blistering chapter ripped free of rocks lumbering mythos.
This music hails from an occluded realm, somewhere just beyond the pot-addled minds of its creators. Lyrically, the Darkscorch Canticles trifle with themes most grave: crippling fear, pagan hostility, paranoia, power addiction—even necromancy. Satans name is openly invoked, alongside Saurons. These worried, warlike Canticles occupy a miniscule niche in the American underground of self-released rock, but their appeal is more broad today than in any previous era.”- Numero Group.

Title: Wayfaring Strangers: Cosmic American Music
Format: Double LP
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $23.00
“As progenitor and contemptuous poster boy for the music that came to be Cosmic American, Gram Parsons found himself mired in a recording career spent mostly in scouting the perimeters of chart success. “He hated country-rock,” Parsons collaborator Emmylou Harris would later reflect. “He thought that bands like the Eagles were pretty much missing the point.”
Parsons had been orbiting the idea of Cosmic American Music for some time. In ‘68, hed parted ways with the Byrds and was looking to take air with a new project. “Its basically a Southern soul group playing country and gospel-oriented music with a steel guitar” he told Melody Maker, on the subject of The Flying Burrito Brothers. So it was that when A&Ms Burrito Brothers debut The Gilded Palace of Sin made it to shelves in February of 1969, early adherents to the Cosmic American gospel were already echoing its message from areas flanking Gram Parsons Southern California hills and canyons. There was F.J. McMahon in coastal Santa Barbara, Mistress Mary further inland in Hacienda Heights, and Plain Jane of Albuquerque, New Mexico, each responding by committing their own private readings to tape before for day one of the 1970s. Parsons himself mightve disdained them, had he even been aware of such minor ripples, shimmering at the edges of his desert oasis. But these were true believers all the same, given over fully to his roots music concept, each filling vinyl grooves with non-rock instrumentation like fiddle, banjo, and pedal steel guitar, the last undoubtedly Cosmic American Musics most distinguishing stringed signifier.
Only too predictably, big labels did the grunt work of confining and defining the movement, as ABC, United Artists, RCA, and more played catch-up with Asylums raptor rock juggernaut, via backwoods crossover also-rans with names like Gladstone, American Flyer, and Silverado. Twang reigned, the shitkickers kicked shit, and the vaguely western-sounding guitar records piled up. Country-rock became “the dominant American rock style of the 1970s,” as Peter Doggetts comprehensive Are You Ready for the Country put it much later. Wayfaring Strangers: Cosmic American Music picks up and dusts off golden ingots from the dollar-bin detritus of that domination, to reconstruct events as seen from the genres real Wild West—Americas one-off private press label substructure. “ - Numero Group.
“I [have] some sort of ‘rep for starting what has turned out to be pretty much of a ‘country-rock plastic dry-fuck.” — Gram Parsons, 1972.

Title: Wayfaring Strangers: Guitar Soli
Format: Double LP
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $21.00
"Double LP version, great gatefold sleeve. "Bridging the gap between American primitive pioneers John Fahey, Robbie Basho, and Leo Kottke, and the California modernists William Ackerman, Alex de Grassi, and Michael Hedges, Guitar Soli explores the private side of the solo guitar movement from 1966-1981. While Takoma and Windham Hill were laying the groundwork for the new age marketing juggernaut of the mid 80s, these fourteen loners were picking away in tiny cafes, selling records hand to hand. The double LP set comes housed in a beautiful recycled cardboard gatefold sleeve and features Ted Lucas, Daniel Hecht, Dan Lambert, Jim Ohlschmidt, Tom Smith, Mark Lang, Richard Crandell, William Eaton, George Cromarty, Scott Witte, Brad Chequer, Dwayne Canan, and Dana Westover."-Numero Group

Artist: WATTS, ALAN
Title: This is It
Format: LP
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $17.00
"Psychedelic music began with the tiniest possible bang: a minuscule pressing of a self-produced LP by Zen Buddhist scholar Alan Watts. In one cosmic flash of inspiration and group improvisation, the next two decades of musical innovation was pre-supposed: psychedelic rock, spiritual jazz, and even new age. As this micro pressing barely made it out of the ashram, it was Watts writings that actually spread his ideas, usually through osmosis: he was profoundly influential on the beat poets and the subsequent counter-culture. He became the forebear of the 1960s countercultures spirituality, much as William Burroughs was the forebear of its hedonism.
Released in 1962, This Is It is an imaginative cacophony of percussion, non-verbal chanting, and free-flowing expression, punctuated occasionally by leisurely passes at a terrestrial piano, marimba, or french horn. It is at once experimental, intellectual, and experiential. Three years before Ken Keseys inaugural Acid Test, This Is It constitutes the first transmission for a tuned-in counterculture of hippies, beats, and psychedelic revolutionaries of all stripes. " - Numero Group.

Artist: WHITE EYES
Title: s/t
Format: LP
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
“The Summer of Love hadnt reached Missouri, even by 1969. But White Eyes, a true anomaly of the Midwest, channeled the sound of Haight-Ashbury straight to the plains. The band was among the top performing acts in the “Show Me” state, opening for The Flying Burrito Brothers, Black Oak Arkansas, and Brewer and Shipley. Blending acoustic and electric instrumentation, three-part harmonies, and anti-Vietnam lyrics, this previously unissued LP holds true to the acid-drenched sounds of the Woodstock era.” - Numero Group.

Title: You Are Doomed
Format: Double 7"
Label: Numero Group
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"No, not the first incarnation of Kiss, just three wasted kids from Cleveland, Ohio, infatuated with the new wave of British heavy metal. Kick-started in Cleveland in 1979, girls, drugs, sports, and jock rivalry fueled Wicked Lesters aggressive fuck the draft sound. Minted at Boddie in 1981, Wicked Lesters lone single paired Here Comes My Girlfriend with the lovesick, late-Pink Floyd moves of Say Your Prayers, recorded on the same ominous day that John Hinckley Jr. shot President Ronald Reagan. Weve added two unreleased tracks, thrown all four sides into a beautiful gatefold 7" sleeve, and added a couple thousand words about their near-meaningless existence." - Numero Group.
