Artist: BACK MAGIC
Title: Chorus Line To Hell
Format: LP
Label: Milvia Son
Country: USA
Price: $12.00
"Milvia Son is positively stoked to present the first full-length LP by Back Magic, following a cassette and a couple of limited run lathe cuts on Nick Hoffmans esteemed Pilgrim Talk label. While the line-up and sonics have varied over Back Magics brief history, the relative constants thus far are Hair EXP on guitar and vocals, and Terror Trans on drums. This LP features just the core duo doing what they do very well indeed … which occasionally sounds like a proto-embryonic version of The Great Society if they replaced Grace with some chanting monks, and other times sounds like a couple burned-out monks getting their rocks on after stumbling across an amp and some drums. The album is very much in the vein of their “Dream Lover” cassette, described by Byron Coley as a “curiously strong” recording of “a guitar, a drum, and a lung playing skeletal miniatures from inside a ghost garage”, and by Ed Pinsent as embodying “a shrill plangency that makes you want to cry and shudder at the same time.” Like many haunted recordings, this one finishes with a question mark that will leave you wondering what the hell just happened. Limited to 250 copies with cover and insert art by Nick Hoffman, beautifully silk-screened by Alan Sherry. Get your copy or be damned to a lifetime of chronic lumbago." -Milvia Son.

Artist: BAD DRUMLIN GRASS
Title: Live At Timber Cove
Format: LP
Label: Milvia Son
Country: USA
Price: $9.00
"The third full length album by The Grass, following 2007s Invigorating Scent LP and the Birth/Death CDR from 2006. Timber Cove is the name of a Pacific Coast outlook off Highway 1, near Jenner, north of Gualala. The mysterious duos synthesizers, pedals, guitars and amps were taken to the foot of Benny Bufanos legendary sculpture, The Expanding Universe, an 80-foot tall missile-shaped cement monument decorated in mosaic with images of benevolent aliens. Thereafter, the equipment -- and the audience -- was turned on. The first track on the LP, mastered in glorious mono at 45 rpm for maximum impact, transposes Bufanos vision into sound, an analog anthem from deep space designed to inspire sperm whales and giant squid alike to lay down their weapons and fight no more. The small audience (of European tourists?) appears to have been moved. The entirety of side B (33 rpm, wide stereo) consists of DMT Elf Blues. Amidst a disquieting drone accompanied by a languid guitar, the damaged laughter of a clown skull is irregularly audible until ultimately vanquished by plucked strings wafting in from the East. All that remains is a pair of felt boots, a cicada, a whipporwill, and a distant echo. Is this the first businessmans trip to end up in a regional wilderness? We doubt it, but only because weve previously woken in places where we never expected to be unconscious. 300 copies, color sleeves, color insert, priced for the Great Recession." - Milvia Son.

Artist: BAD DRUMLIN GRASS
Title: The Invigorating Scent Of Bad Drumlin Grass
Format: LP
Label: Milvia Son
Country: USA
Price: $10.00
"The second Bad Drumlin Grass record is the first vinyl release on Milvia Son Records. Way back in July of 2006, Sensei Rebel chose the bands schizophrenic inaugural CDR (Birth/Afterbirth) as his Ambient Pick of the Week. Forsaking the drone (at least temporarily), Bad Drumlin Grass presents two solid sides of junk n roll instrumental freakouts that careen into the void like cigarette cherries dropping into the fake beard of a paranoid neo-folkie where, like Sonny Bono, they just sit there and *burn*. These are not the lost Hams rehearsals tapes. Imagine Richard Thompson and Garth Hudson rehearsing for 10,000 hours and touring with This Heat. This record is the exact opposite of that, except for being recorded live without overdubs. 300 copies for the world." -Milvia Son.

Artist: JAKIZAWA, JAKI
Title: Can You Feel The Juices?
Format: LP
Label: Milvia Son
Country: USA
Price: $9.00
"Jaki Jakizawas first album is short, sweet and deep. Side As “Period Fart” is a 13 minute edit of a purportedly 180+ minute electroboogie stomp that was improvised in the sunblasted milieu of the Black Rock Desert sometime in the last decade of the previous century.  Recalls Jaki: “It was hot and people were naked.  I got naked.  We danced like hot, naked birds.”  Side Bs “Eros In Neon” is a relatively austere piece consisting of a quarter hour of melodically pulsating trance tones, sans vocals or percussion, that we find equally evocative of Kraftwerk, Terry Riley, Arthur Russell, and Shivkumar Sharma.  Who among us has not felt the juices?  Heres another chance.  284 copies with covers silk-screened by the incomparable Alan Sherry, and a set of totally rad Jaki stickers inside every sleeve." - Milvia Son.

Artist: MOONEY AND THE TENTH PLANET, MALCOLM
Title: InCANtations
Format: LP
Label: Milvia Son
Country: USA
Price: $10.00
"MALCOLM MOONEY and the dueling guitars of Stephen Clarke (Arkansas Man) and Len Patterson (Flowtilla), bassist Peter Conheim (Neung Phak) and drummer Marc Weinstein (MX-80) performing only classic Mooney-era CAN material Guitar-woven tapestries of molten metal, lubricious rhythms and Malcolms inimitable vocals lifting everthing up into that special sector. Eight choice tracks culled from two Bay Area shows circa 2010, excellently recorded by Bernice Nipplehalter and pressed onto glorious blue spattered vinyl. Full color sleeves featuring Mals artwork on the front and back, plus a lyric sheet inside. 400 vinyl-only copies for the world." - Milvia Son.

Artist: O-TYPE
Title: Darling
Format: LP
Label: Milvia Son
Country: USA
Price: $12.00
"Founded in 1986 by core MX-80 members Bruce Anderson (guitar, vocals) and Dale Sophiea (bass and drums), O-Type very quickly evolved into a four piece with the addition of drummer Marc Weinstein and guitarist Jim Hrabetin. Whereas MX-80 had been blowing minds with its incongruently massive yet intricate compositions turning corners on a dime, the power of “Darling” rose from the smoking dual guitar/ bass lines cruising over a seemingly kraut-inspired rhythm section that is typically propulsive and occasionally pummeling. Where the compositions include vocals, Anderson addresses various social concerns from the perspective of the unfortunate pickers of societys shortest sticks: mentally-challenged asthmatics, autistic stalkers, and naked, angry homeless people. The evocations are realistic enough that we recommend putting a few sheets of newspaper down on your living room before playing this record at home. For many years “Darling” was available only on cassette released on the bands Quadruped label (more recently it was made available as a CDR). It being a personal favorite, Milvia Son teamed up with Dale Sophiea and engineer Peter Conheim to prepare this re-mastered vinyl edition. 300 copies for the world in suitably lurid red silk-screened jackets (courtesy of Mr. Sherry) reproducing the original cover art, and a numbered insert." -Milvia Son.

Artist: OLD YELLER & THE PIGBITES
Title: Songs For Nadine
Format: LP
Label: Milvia Son
Country: USA
Price: $9.00
"Milva Son is pleased to present the first appearance of Bob Frankford on vinyl (along with the simultaneously released track on the label sampler 7"). Other than a handful of pseudonymous cassette micropressings leaked out over the past quarter century, Bobs vision has been, shall we say, strictly personal. In Bobs words: At the time, I was deeply immersed in the Basement Tapes, especially the classic boot on Surprise Records, (which still has the best track sequencing of all the various incarnations). I just wanted to sing and play songs like that. And I wanted to be all of the original members of the Dead. I was living in a closet (literally) in an apartment behind the Nottingham co-op in Madison, eating tomato soup and crackers every other day and paying rent with sheets of this ridiculous green gel. My roommate had a dual cassette deck with a mic input. My dad had a cheap classical guitar that I knew he hadnt played for years so I borrowed it and taught myself how to play. I scotch-taped a radio shack microphone to the body and bounced the tracks from one cassette to the other with the microphone input turned on. Some strange things happened, sometimes by accident. So says Bob, and we are inclined to agree. Some strange things did happen, but perhaps nothing quite so strange as seeing these songs and experiments with feedback made available in the permanent format. The beginning of a long journey, retraced. 300 copies pressed, color printed lyric insert, priced for the Great Recession." - Milvia Son.

Title: Just A Little Bit Of Milvia Son Records
Format: 7"
Label: Milvia Son
Country: USA
Price: $5.00
"Just A Little Bit provides an overview of the labels current roster, four tracks clocking in around 9 minutes total, each by a different artist. First up is O Carl by Bob Frankford, recorded during Bobs middle period. Says Bob: After the car accident, I was unable to move my fingers or toes for several months. But I could sing and I could play the turntable. And thus, a song is born. Next we hear from the Korg-abusing electrofreak, Jaki Jakizawa, providing his impression of one of R2D2s greasiest dreams, entitled Now You Hate the Swedes. Side B blasts forth with Day Nudes, a guitar feedback mini-nightmare created by Bad Drumlin Grass as an homage to a few of their southern hemisphere heroes. Concluding the record is the unforgettable Little Bit, sung and strummed by a certain Petomane, a fellow who sounds not unlike Lou Reed doing an imitation of Skip Spence covering Lou Reed. Full color jackets, insert featuring pictures of the artists, 250 copies pressed, priced for the Great Recession." - Milvia Son.
