Artist: ACID ARCHIVES; THE SECOND EDITION
Title: A Guide to Underground Sounds 1965-1982
Format: Book
Label: Lysergia
Country: Sweden
Price: $54.00
"Bigger, better and more colorful! After the huge success of the first edition from 2006, the Acid Archives book has been long out-of-print. Used copies have sold for as high as $200, and there are many inquiries about new runs from around the world. Instead of just a new printing, here is a brand-new edition -- completely revised, massively expanded, and attractively re-designed. The Acid Archives, The Second Edition will delight any lover of rare and great underground music from the 1960s-1970s. All the elements that made the first edition such a hit are here. The A-Z section has been expanded with 90 new pages, detailing many hundreds of previously-unknown LPs. Just as exciting is a brand-new section of special features, where leading experts present the best and rarest albums within exotica, lounge, 70s funk & soul, Southern rock, new age, custom labels and tax scam records. In answer to requests from fans of the first book, the Acid Archives has been fully re-designed and is now printed entirely in color. The 400 pages in the second edition (100 pages more than the old version) are loaded with color images of obscure and trippy album sleeves, posters and band photos, many of which have never been published before. 400 pages, all entirely in color, in a perfect-bound softcover quarto. Writers: P. Lundborg, A. Milenski, R. Moore and others." - Lysergia. Essential. Very Highly Recommended! 2014 reprint with a new price.

Artist: LSD UNDERGROUND 12
Title: LSD Underground 12
Format: LP
Label: Lysergia
Country: Sweden
Price: $45.00
"Before there was psychedelic music, there was LSD Underground 12. Recorded under mysterious circumstances in Los Angeles in the summer of 1966, this mind-blowing musical journey represents the earliest known case of musicians recording while under the effect of LSD. The result is a pioneering aural kaleidoscope of shifting moods and complex atmospheres unlike anything done before and hardly since. Recorded at a time when psychedelic music did not yet exist as a genre, it is not surprising that the music flows freely across genres, from eerie Middle Eastern desert moods and nocturnal West Coast jazz grooves into full-blown acid-rock guitar soloing, while the hallucinogenic tension is sustained and released through outbursts of piercing avant-garde, Fluxic chaos and minimalist stasis. Sold briefly via mail-order, the 1966 record was only rumored to exist until Lysergias recent research verified its existence. In view of its pioneering historical status and outstanding musical quality, LSD Underground 12 should rank as one of the greatest psychedelic music discoveries of the past 20 years. A pioneering acid-head sound unlike anything that came before it and hardly anything since... a musical riddle rising from the psychedelic catacombs. Presented by Patrick Lundborg and Lysergia, LSD Underground 12 is available in an exclusive limited LP edition, 180 gram virgin vinyl, housed in a deluxe case with a wrapped tip-on-sleeve, and including an insert with in-depth liner notes." - Lysergia.

"Heard today, the music will not sound particularly revolutionary to anyone whos spent time with the recordings of ensembles like Red Crayola, Intersystems, The Deep, Cromagnon, Gravity Adjusters Expansion Band, Citizens For Interplanetary Activity, and so on. But it is not exactly like any of them, either, and it sure as hell sounds like it is what it claims to be -- a bunch of musicians on acid." - Byron Coley.

Artist: LUNDBORG, PATRICK
Title: Psychedelia: An Ancient Culture, A Modern Way of Life
Format: Book
Label: Lysergia
Country: Sweden
Price: $31.00
"A groundbreaking new book from the author of the highly-acclaimed Acid Archives, published by Lysergia: Psychedelia: An Ancient Culture, A Modern Way of Life is Patrick Lundborg and Lysergias greatest achievement so far. The product of 20 years of research, the 500+-page work is likely to prove as pioneering as the preceding Acid Archives, which went through five reprintings and received favorable reviews in leading magazines such as Mojo and The Wire. A larger number of people are exploring psychedelic states of mind in the world today than at any other point in history. Their shared experiences form the outline of a vast underground culture, whose steady influence upon society can be traced across thousands of years, back to Amerindian plant drug cults and the psychedelic celebrations in ancient Greece that gave birth to our Western society. But the full scope of this psychedelic culture, and its many expressions in the past, has remained poorly understood or even unknown. Psychedelia has usually been taken as a metaphor, or a symptom of something else, even though its true nature is singular and unparalleled. Psychedelia by Patrick Lundborg is the first-ever book to present psychedelic culture in its full complexity and range. Out of a colorful history that spans 3,500 years, emerges a philosophy and way of life that is as dazzling and rich as the psychedelic experience itself. As this book shows, psychedelia is a living underground culture, engaged in constant dialogue with its mainstream counterpart. Psychedelias creative, visionary presence in art, rock music and pop culture is thoroughly examined, highlighting many unique and at times unknown works and traditions, from William Blake to Philip K. Dick, from Eden Ahbez to Shpongle, from Haight-Ashbury to the beaches of Goa. The 20th centurys misguided attempts to reduce psychedelia into a branch of psychology or religion are given a critical, sometimes controversial look. A case is made for psychedelic philosophy, a fresh, unprejudiced model to replace the failed interpretations of the past. In the third millennium, psychedelic culture may be standing on the brink of a mystery greater than anything encountered in the past. This mystery comes forth in chapters on ayahuasca and DMT, and has reverberations far outside the realms of psychedelia, cutting into vital questions of consciousness and evolution. Most of all, psychedelia is a celebration of life, in the here and now and in the deep realms of inner-space. The final chapters of Psychedelia discuss the challenges and rewards of the psychedelic experience, as mastered by shamans and teachers from various entheogenic cultures. 520 pages with a 16-page color inlay in a perfect bound small quarto; 9.5 by 6.5 inches." - Lysergia.

Artist: MADRIGAL
Title: Madrigal
Format: LP
Label: Lysergia
Country: Sweden
Price: $45.00
"Finally a reissue of one of the great lost Grails of the NYC freak underground! Trading hands for $3-4000 on the rare occasions it is offered, Madrigal has grown into a legend among fans of psychedelic drone music. Heres what the Acid Archives has to say: "...A rather amazing do-it-yourself descent into the murkiest depths of the early 1970s underground. Its two guys sitting in what sounds like a boiler room, equipped with a drum machine, an electric guitar & bass and some oscillators, hotwiring themselves into the lysergic flow of the Now. The music drones and cavorts while incomprehensible screams and dialogue lurk in the background, as heard through a locked door. The atmosphere is as thick as in a nightmare..." But Madrigals strongest achievement may be the seamless shift from the harrowing visions of machinery and faceless suffering on side 1 into a string of dark, haunting folk-rock numbers on side 2, a transition as natural as if these were simply the two sides of the same unclassifiable coin. Pioneering at the time and still unique today, vague parallels could be made to Suicide, the Patron Saints and Velvet Undergrounds third LP, but first and last Madrigal can only be understood on its own. Re-mastered for superior sound, retaining the original artwork and pressed in a limited edition, 180 gram virgin vinyl, housed in a deluxe case with a wrapped tip-on-sleeve, and including an insert with in-depth liner notes." - Lysergia.
