Title: Archons?/Archons!
Format: CDR
Label: JYRK
Country: USA
Price: $6.00
"Possibly the most exciting new band weve seen since moving to the bay area.  Axolotl and Jyrk had an instant bond.  The Ax boys had so much extra material since their Psych-O-Path records debut that it took about a week for these dudes to get us a CDR of some of their best material yet.  I think its better than their debut.  Seriously. These dudes got their chops jamming with the likes of Animal Collective, Black Dice, Mouthus and Double Leopards in NYC before transplanting to the West.  Comparisons to the "NYC PSYCH" sound are not totally unfounded, but Axolotl manage to offer up their own dark cave realm.  Their work reminds me more of "Broken Hearted Dragonflies" and Chris Watson than any New England jammers." - JYRK.

"If any of you are familiar with the Yellow Swans/Axolotl/Gerritt collab CDR, this is a companion.. It was recorded on the same day as the other collab, but it was before we walked over to Gerritts house and told the dude to grab his laptop... we recorded this thing while Karl (axolotl) was still living in oakland in a house that was packed with dark energy... It was Martin Luther King Day and none of us had to work... This, being the first of two sessions, had a really sleepy, early-afternoon vibe that usually hits on a good three-day weekend... The music begins sounding hazy and meditative... Gradually.... things are livened up and the earth starts unfolding... But nothing too rough..... It is a lazy day in the name of a true King afterall....." - JYRK.

"You all may not be familiar with the project, but its William Sabiston of (part-time) Axolotl fame.. Dude is a WILD percussionist whos collaborated with tons of folks, but most recently in a group BULBS.. Im not even sure how to describe this release....... I suppose "freedom techno," a ficticious genre imagined by Roope Eronen, would be some sort of applicable term. William weavs all sorts of percussive sounds; bells, electronic drum pads, synth and acoustic drums into a complex whirl of pulses and clicks that will occasionally congeal into abstract loops, minimalist techno riffs, dub-zones or some sort of cohearance, before whatever beat hes imagined crashes in on itself... Those familiar with Williams solo track on the Axolotl CDR, "Oranur," will have some idea what to expect.. but then, Ive been listening to this thing for months and I still dont know whats happening when I listen to this thing. Limited to 150 copies." - JYRK.

"Piecing this one together meant running deep into the YS haze cloud that was 2005 cassette releases. weve got a bit of all of em on here (23 productions, tone filth, split with Skaters, split with Sex With Girls) and its just a fucking CLOUD. nothing quite as uncompromisingly blissed as Drift, but still totally faded and OMINOUS... More than anything (including the likes of Psychic, and Drift), the tracks on this release have informed the YS sound NOW. Way fewer beats, way more space, WAY WAY MORE SPACE. Tons of drones and zones, weird sounds that I dont even know what made em.. maybe it was the animals in the place we were living/practicing in? maybe it was Gabes power animal rolling out to rock and roll? Unknown. All I know is that there are phantom beasts all over this mess and Im real proud of it! edition of 1000 split release with PacREC" - JYRK.

"We received an anonymous package containing this recording along with an image and a note. The three pieces in this suite were created by processing live radiocoverage of the 2004 presidential election using computer music software. While to some extent, the use of political media materials as source sounds in a work of radical music could be considered pat or outmoded, there was value in this endeavor. The transformative properties of digital signal processing allowed me to uncover the "choral" component inherent in news broadcasts: the anchors form a choir of voices singing in unison, complicit amongst themselves to the authorship whose script they are doomed to read from. The Agency of the newsanchor is limited, or submissive to government and capital, or both. I had concerns that simply processing my radio was not a truly radical platform. That being said, it is an attempt to tear away the fabric of appearances, and some kind of momentary relief was derived from the process. If you dont find this recording sonically or politically persuasive, try using a simple audio processing tool to dissect the media you absorb. You might be more edified by trying the process first-hand." - JYRK. Edition of 50 copies.

Title: Why Not Be Utterly Changed Into Fire?
Format: CDR
Label: JYRK
Country: USA
Price: $8.00
"Last time we moved cities, we immediately stumbled onto Axolotl, Thuja and The Skaters.. Now that were back in Portland, theres a lot of familiar faces making totally new sounds.. its not quite the exciting discovery that the totally unknown bay had going for it, but its been great seeing old buddies exploring new territory and to meet new folks who have really made this city their own... Ghosting, along with Ilyas Amhed and Pulse Emitter have all totally got our blood pumping in all sorts of weird ways.. Ghosting drop HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY drones that are extremely dense and constantly evolving at glacial paces, then.. every once in awhile, theyll drop a serious bomb and the piece will take off in all sorts of blissed and baffling directions.. These dudes are practically owning this town right now and this release finds them in TOP form. I cant really recommend this one highly enough. edition of 150" - JYRK.

Artist: IN/FLUX
Title: Cryptic Cloak
Format: CDR
Label: JYRK
Country: USA
Price: $7.00
"The first time I met these dudes, we were playing a show in Vancouver, B.C. and this girl that had been doing yoga on the floor rolled up to me and handed me a CDR with an old pinup playing card sewn to the cover... she said "shes for you... from back when boobs were real...." and then she just rolled off... Shit was totally mysterious.... and the next day, Gabe pulls out his copy of the CDR with this naked dude on it and we put it on... Both of us were totally stunned.. Basically.. it was this CDR by In/Flux called "Hoc-Age." Its total outsider noise if there ever was such a thing.. totally lo-fi and disjointed yelps, guitar skree, lots of unidentifiable things happening... Similar murk to those like The Skaters and Dead C, but the actual identifiable sounds are way different.. maybe something like if the dead C self-titled double disc from a few years back was way more lo-fi and they were super young genderfuckers from canada with a hell of a lot of inspiration and piles of totally shitty gear. "Cryptic Cloak" is a reissue of "Hoc-Age" with additional tracks from the "Metalguests" CDR... (100 copies)" - JYRK.

Artist: NOGGIN
Title: s/t
Format: 3" CDR

Price: $8.00
"As a wee lad.. I would make these treks up to Portland from my smaller home-town down south... Id hit these spots like The X-RAY and THEE O HELL CAFE.. and SUBURBIA.. and catch all these weirdos doing their thing.. I saw Jacike O Motherfucker, Smegma, Daniel Menche.. All the OG motherfuckers here in puddletown..... AND I SAW NOGGIN.. who were probably the LEAST forgiving, MOST PUNISHING slab of skree my virgin ears had heard... SERIOUSLY ROUGH guitar/violin scrapes and feedback.. I still dont have any idea HOW they made all of the sounds they pulled out of those little twigs.... Fast Forward ten plus years, and Im a bit older and making a small racket of my own.. were on tour with Gang Wiz and playing up in bellingham, WA with Noggin.. ALL ARE STOKED. The Noggin bros rock up with no amps and TWO violin cases.. so.. now noggins AS ABRASIVE as ever, but totally acoustic.. Now.. a few years further down the road.. and JYRK is releasing their RETURN to electric playing, which is a great amalgam of their INTENSE electric skree and their acoustic athletics. all smashed up into this lil CDR... edition of 150" - JYRK.

Artist: SIXES
Title: Submissions
Format: 3" CDR
Label: JYRK
Country: USA
Price: $8.00
"Man.. one of the first times we rolled down to Oakland, we met up with this dude and his intensely dark steez.. Dude reminded me of my buddies up in Portland who had first told me about "The Temple," which Mr. Sixes calls home.. My friends told me that their show at "The Temple" was one of the most chaotic evenings of their bands career.. tons of smashed glass, fights.... debauch... A fierce mess.. When we finally got to SEE Sixes... or more importantly, when we moved to the bay and got to SEE Sixes a LOT, Dude was REPEATEDLY crushing.. on par with other westen freaks like Wiese and Gerritt.. totally gross intensity.. So.. we bug him to do a release.. and he takes his time.. but... now were finally holding onto this SICK live recording of a set in Seattle from 2005.. Its perfect for JYRK too.. Totally a slow burner. you cant tell its creeping up on you until its too late...... edition of 200" - JYRK.

"We love The Skaters..... Seriously.. GREAT dudes. GREAT jams.. We met em about three years ago in San Diego.. When we moved to the Bay, Spencer was camping out in the Mission and holding it down........ It was great reconnecting with the dude and he was wanting to do a YS/The Skaters split tape.. he passed us a double CDR of "OPHA" and "Dark Rye Bread" and we were SOLD. So we did a split tape about six months ago that we sold on our west coast tour with Chuck Bettis that Spencer was along for a bit... We sold all of em on tour and now I find out that the tapes selling on Ebay for $40 or some ridiculous amount. Well.. if you dont mind the digital format.... Heres the music actually made available in a possible-to-order sort of way.... Errr.. The Music?? the YS track is totally odd stumblings and rumblings and the Skaters jam is uber saturated song clatter.. Blissed out scratchings from both units. Back in 200 handmade copies.." - JYRK.

"Tom Carter is one of my favorite dudes in the bay.. totally baffling head on this dude.. intensive skills on his singular guitar vision... Unbelievably kind and humble jammer too.. Awhile back, Gabe and I were talking about putting out stuff for our buddies that arent the most obscure bands on the west and Tom was the first on the list.. right up there with Damion Romero, Open City, Loren Chasse......... Total Killers......... Toms a killer..... Umm.. Here hes paired up with Sally from Weird Weeds.. Shes playing guitar too.. and the disc is a totally dense psychic zone out.. probably the heaviest thing from either of these two for ages.. super full and dense guitar bombs. CDRs getting dropped just in time for Tom to hit Terrastock... (200 copies)" - JYRK.

"Daryls been from Portland the whole time.. I didnt even know what he was up to until we ended up playing a show with some buddies from LA that were touring with Daryl.. I was totally confounded that I had never seen the dude jam... he was SO GOOD that night in oakland.. jamming a ton of homemade synth gear. I guess Daryls been playing and building synths for YEARS.. So.. I move back to Portland and I keep running into the dude.. EVERYWHERE.. We talk about playing.. then I get this offer to play a show with Richard Ramierez... and I asked Daryl to join me for a duo.. So we got down to it. total electonic zoner style. Edition of 150" - JYRK.
