Title: Through a Pre-Memory
Format: CD
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $16.00
"Mika Vainio and Stephen OMalley are both seminal figures in the experimental underground having established themselves in the epoch-defining acts Pan Sonic and SunnO))). While they explored different worlds, one abstracted guitar drone metal, the other hard rhythms and analog atmospheres, there was always an underlying thread which bound both acts: massive blocks of sound, vast cavernous spaces, a sense of drama and the foreboding along with a deep exploration of the physical experience unlike any previously experienced. Pan Sonic and SunnO))) first collaborated together on a Suicide cover version for a Blast First Petite series in 2007/2008, and following this, Mika and Stephen decided to collaborate further with what eventually became the ÄÄNIPÄÄ sessions. Recorded at Einstürzende Neubautens Andere Baustelle Tonstudio in Berlin and mixed at Avast! (Soundgarden, Earth) in Seattle over an extended period, the results see individual approaches coalesce into a monumental whole. The signature motifs of both players are to be found here: the sparse, crushing rhythms of Vainios minimalist techno alongside the black-hole drones of OMalleys guitar workouts. It is the alchemical combination of these elements that shifts this release into a new world of burning intensity. At once unholy and emotional, Through a Pre-Memory takes the listener on a vast journey. On "Toward All Thresholds" immense bleak landscapes succumb to sparse glacial rhythms. "Mirror of Mirror Dreams" holds itself in reflective terrain as string arrangements by Eyvind Kang are played with Moriah Neils (contrabass) and Maria Scherer Wilsons (cello), providing desolate strokes to the cleansing ambient landscape preceding it. A new level of terror is reached on the epic "Muse" and "Watch over Stillness/Matters Principle," as the writings of Russian modernist poet Anna Akhmatova are put to music and sung/spoken/screamed by Alan Dubin (Khanate/GNAW/O.L.D.). These monumental texts which book-end this LP are at once ravenous and destructive. The shredding light shining through an impossible black. Through a Pre-Memory is a deep, immersive experience from two of the most extreme forward-thinking music/sound practitioners today." -Press release by Mark Harwood, 9/13, London; Music by Mika Vainio & Stephen OMalley with Alan Dubin (vocals), Eyvind Kang (viola), Moriah Neils (contrabass), Maria Scherer Wilson (cello). String arrangements by Eyvind Kang, tape manipulations by Randall Dunn.

Artist: AKITA, MASAMI & EIKO ISHIBASHI
Title: Kouen Kyoudai
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
“Prolific Japanese artist Masami Akita aka Merzbow teams up with session musician, producer, and singer-songwriter Eiko Ishibashi for a work that showcases yet another side to Akitas monumental catalog. Kouen Kyoudai consists of two side-long tracks that could be read as a contemporary take on the traditional avant-garde. With its skittering electronics, percussion, piano, doom, and noise, Kouen Kyoudaiseamlessly incorporates many strands of experimental thought and practice. The tension that arises from the human use of the tool is made explicit as these works unfold in a storm of ecstatic human/instrument/machine interaction. Drums hammer alongside an ecstatic drone. Notes on a piano jostle with a storm of splintered electronics. Kouen Kyoudai highlights the pull between beauty and chaos; structure and the abyss -- leaving behind a thrilling display of the interplay between the human and the technological while opening up new paths for both musicians involved. Masami Akita: noise electronics, computer, drums. Eiko Ishibashi: piano, drums, synth. Recorded at Gok Sound and SuperDeluxe, Tokyo. Recorded and mixed by Jim ORourke. Cut at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin 2015. Photography by Shunichiro Okada. Design by Jacob Cates.” - Editions Mego.

Title: Behold
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
"Behold is the second collaborative release from Oren Ambarchi and Jim ORourke following the 2011 LP Indeed. Ambarchi and ORourke seamlessly blend field recordings, electronics, guitar, drums, and other acoustic instruments into a subtle combination of krautrock, minimalism, and classic free flowing electronics. Side A takes the listener into the Fourth World adventures pioneered by Jon Hassell on Fourth World Music Vol. I: Possible Musics (GB 019CD/LP), while the flip seems like an unlikely pairing of krautrock aesthetics and the slow, building, repetitive structures of The Necks. This is sharp, focused contemporary music, with minimalist motifs meeting maximalist tendencies. Behold is another landmark recording made by two of the most enthusiastic experimental explorers active today. Oren Ambarchi: guitar, drums, etc.; Jim ORourke: synth, piano, etc. Recorded and mixed at Steamroom, Tokyo in 2012 and 13. Additional recording at SuperDeluxe, Tokyo on January 26, 2012, by Masahide Ando and at Chinatown, Melbourne by Joe Talia. Cut by Christoph Grote-Beverborg at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin in August 2013. Photography by Shunichiro Okada." - Editions Mego.

Title: Quixotism
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
"Editions Mego presents the vinyl edition of Oren Ambarchis Quixotism, a five-part piece recorded over two years with a multitude of collaborators in Europe, Japan, Australia, and the USA and released on CD in 2014 (EMEGO 202CD). Furthuring Ambarchis interest in combining abstract sonic textures with rhythm and pulse (apparent in his drumming with Keiji Haino, the subtly driving ride cymbals of collaborator Joe Talia, and the motorik grooves of 2012s Sagittarian Domain (EMEGO 144CD/LP)), Quixotisms 47 minutes rest on Thomas Brinkmanns foundation of pulsing electronic percussion. Beginning as almost subliminal propulsion behind cavernous orchestral textures and John Tilburys delicate piano interjections, the percussive elements (elaborated on by Ambarchi and Matt Chamberlain) slowly inch into the foreground of the piece before suddenly breaking out into a polyrhythmic shuffle around the halfway mark, joined by tabla master U-zhaan for the pieces final, beautiful passages. The pulse acts as a thread leading the listener though a heterogeneous variety of acoustic spaces, from the concert hall in which the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra were recorded to the intimacy of Crys Coles contact mic textures. Ambarchis guitar itself ranges over this wide variety of acoustic spaces, from airless, clipped tones to swirling, reverberated fog. Within the complex web Ambarchi spins over the pieces steadily pulsing foundation, elements approach and recede, appear and reappear in a non-linear fashion, even as the piece plots an overall course from the gray, almost Nono-esque reverberated space of its opening section to the crisp foreground presence of Jim ORourkes synth and Evyind Kangs strings in its final moments. Formally indebted to the side-long workouts of classic Cologne techno, the long-form works of composers such as Eliane Radigue, and the organic push and pull of improvised performance, Quixotism, in a kind of dream-logic, moves with nearly imperceptible transitions through its sonic diversity. Though it is shaped by its many contributors, the resulting sound world is unmistakably Ambarchis own, and the summation of his career thus far. Played by Oren Ambarchi (guitars and percussion), Thomas Brinkmann (computable drums with an application to the Entscheidungsproblem), Matt Chamberlain (drums and electronics, Parts 3 & 4), Crys Cole (contact mics and brushes, Part 4), Eyvind Kang (bowed gender, Part 1 and violas, Part 5), Jim ORourke (synths, Parts 4 and 5), John Tilbury (piano, Parts 1 & 2), U-zhaan (tabla, Part 5), and Ilan Volkov & the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra (Parts 1 & 3). Recorded at Max Ernst Studios, Cologne; Harpa, Reykjavik; Cyclops Sound Studio, Los Angeles; Avast! Studios, Seattle, with co-production and engineering by Randall Dunn; Steamroom, Tokyo, with engineering by Jim ORourke; London; and Melbourne in 2012, 13, and 14. Mixed by Ambarchi and Joe Talia at Chinatown, Melbourne in December 2013 and March 2014. Mastered by Byron Scullin at Moose, Melbourne in March and April 2014. Cut by Rashad Becker at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin in June 2014." - Editions Mego.

Title: Sagittarian Domain
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
"For anyone who still associates Oren Ambarchi exclusively with the clipped, bass-heavy tones of solo electric guitar works such as Suspension (TO 033.18CD), this rhythmically churning one-man-band monster of an album-length piece might seem to come out of nowhere. However, listeners who have followed the breadth of his work for the last few years (solo and in projects with collaborators from Jim ORourke to Stephen OMalley and Keith Rowe to Keiji Haino) will have noted how Ambarchi has allowed increasingly clear traces of his enthusiasms as a music listener (for classic rock, minimal techno and 70s fusion, among other areas) to surface in his performances and recordings, all the time filtering them through his signature long-form structures and psychoacoustic sonics. Recorded in a single inspired studio session, Sagittarian Domain displaces Ambarchis trademark guitar sound from the center of the mix, its presence felt only as an occasional ghostly, reverberated shimmer. Endlessly pulsating guitar and bass lines sit alongside electronic percussion and thundering motorik drumming (familiar from his work with Keiji Haino) at the core of the piece, locking into a voodoo groove, like Faust covering a 70s cop show theme. The work is founded on hypnotic almost-repetition, the accents of the drum hits and interlocking bass and guitar lines shifting almost imperceptibly back and forwards over the beat as they undergo gradual transformations of timbre. Cut-up and phase-shifted strings enter around the half-way mark like an abstracted memory of the Eastern-tinged fusion of the Mahavishnu Orchestras classic Visions of the Emerald Beyond, before returning for an extended, stark yet affecting come-down coda, equal parts Gavin Bryars and Purple Rain. While Sagittarian Domain contains traces of a diversity of influences, it mines all of them to uncover something that is clearly an extension of Ambarchis own investigations up to this point, exhibiting the same care for micro-detail and surrender to the physicality of sound that are present in all of his work, extending them in new ways to repetition, pulse and rhythm." --Francis Plagne; Vinyl cut by Rashad Becker at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin, June 2012.

Title: Hostile Environment
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
"Bolder is Martin Maischein, who used to record as Heinrich At Hart on Position Chrome, and Peter Votava, also known as Pure, who has recorded previously for Mego and was half of Ilsa Gold. With their combined background in electronic music of all kinds, Bolder introduces a significant proposition to the current experimental electronic boom. Blurring the lines between industrial, techno, dub, ambient, and narrative forms, the work on Bolders debut presents a dance amongst the abyss, a world where organic rhythms provide the path amongst a swarm of foreboding electronics. Herein lurks an atmosphere where hostile electronics weigh the hope and paranoia of todays climate. One humans listen is another humans challenge. Mastered by Rashad Becker." -Editions Mego.

Artist: BRINKMANN, THOMAS
Title: A 1000 Keys
Format: CD
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $16.00
"How many can get a personal sound out of a fucking piano?!" - Lee Konitz. Thomas Brinkmann takes his seductive reductionism to the next level with A 1000 Keys, a harsh meditation on the expressive qualities of digital sound production. In translating the timbre of a grand piano into binary codes, thus rebuilding its corpus with "0 and 1s", Brinkmann subverts the sensual qualities of this proto-romantic instrument in a sardonic way. Replacing the musician with a mathematically precise series of frenetic repetition and intriguingly dissonant difference, the result sounds at times like a violent ride through the brains of Schönberg or Webern, drained in amphetamines, at others like Feldmans ephemeral sketches or Russolos futurist outburst. Brinkmanns conceptual framework is resonating in the track titles. Using shortcuts of international airports, he refers to non-places that establish their own space-and-time continuum, while lacking individual identity and history. These functional scenarios are sterile passages for anonymous, objectified masses, at the same time theres hardly a better place to grasp the very subjective character of time. A 1000 Keys is a fatal homage to minimalism and a consequent denial of virtuosity and the idea of creative genius. Paraphrasing the romantic idea of human perfection, Brinkmann found a way to create sonic algorithms of tenderness and brutality, establishing dramatic expressiveness in his constructivist analytics. The result is of radical beauty. Dedicated to Conlon Nancarrow." - Editions Mego.

Title: What You Hear (Is What You Hear)
Format: Dbl LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $31.00
"Thomas Brinkmann is renowned for audio works that hover among forms such as techno, minimalism, and ambient. Alongside such pioneering works as Klick (2000), Studio 1 - Variationen (1997), and 2012s duo with Oren Ambarchi, The Mortimer Trap (BT 006CD), with What You Hear (Is What You Hear) Brinkmann moves further to separate his art, not only from descriptive musical terms that oppress creative output, but also from the notion of an author in the act of creation. The 11 tracks on display form a series of self-perpetuating rhythms that exist more as sound structures than as any kind of traditional sound forms. Any associations, emotions, and reactions are purely in the reasoning of the listener as the artist makes a strong and deliberate move away from intent. This is a strident development in the conceptual thinking of Brinkmanns solid career, one that places the listener simultaneously inside and outside objective parameters. Dedicated to Zbigniew Karwkowski. Design by Stephen OMalley. Gatefold double LP." - Editions Mego.

Artist: CHILD, ANTHONY
Title: Electronic Recordings from Maui Jungle Vol. 2
Format: Double LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $31.00
"Anthony Child, AKA Surgeon, presents the second volume of recordings of Buchla Music Easel recorded in the jungle of Maui. Again, Childs is in a more ambient guise and setting, as the calm breath of the jungle sets a real time back-drop for his electronic explorations. There is no additional layering and all environmental sounds simply "occurred" throughout the improvisations. The range on display veers from melodic drones to sparkling arpeggios all revolving around a thick bed of electronic (Buchla) and acoustic (environmental) interplay. "Nine Personality Type Map" hovers on a bed of syncopated rhythms whilst the nearby sonic mist of the forest seethes in-and-out of the frame whilst "A Nightfall Of Diamonds" provides a sonic analogy for the darkness and light contradiction that occurs only in such rich natural environments. The simultaneous acts of improvising, listening and creating provide a rich setting for the curious listener. Another gem in a catalog filled with gold. Recorded in Haiku-Pauwela, Maui between February 3rd and 14th of 2016." - Editions Mego.

Title: Empty Airport
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
"The title of Empty Airport, Chras second LP and her first on Editions Mego, may be read as a reference to Brian Enos ambient classic, though this time we find ourselves in a territory of transit that sounds like a dystopian swan song on civilizatoric debris -- a heterotopia emptied of human remains, with only ghostly echoes behind. Chra aka comfortzone foundress Christina Nemec has traced out a post-anthropocene area in which acoustic entries of field recordings are stratified in layers of deconstructed noisescapes. Partly interspersed with clunky technoid basslines, an introspective space is opened, which excavates in a discreet and subtle manner layers of abandoned wasteland. Nemec, who is a member of various projects including Shampoo Boy (together with Peter Rehberg and Christian Schachinger) and the female berserker formation SV Damenkraft, has succeeded in producing a significant LP that merges dark techno and industrial with found sounds and ambient scapes, resulting in a compositoric minimalism that ushers us into a state of existential trance. Recorded and produced by Christina Nemec in Vienna and Hornerwald, 2012-2014. Additional mixing on "Abandoned House" by Christian Fennesz. Guitar on "Soca Valley" by Christian Schachinger, recorded at Twisted, Vienna. Mastered and cut at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin, 2015. Artwork by Susi Klocker." - Editions Mego.

Title: Journey from Anywhere
Format: Double LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $31.00
"Compound Eye is Drew McDowall (formerly of Coil) and Tres Warren (Psychic Ills and Messages). Journey from Anywhere is their second album release following Origin of Silence, an art edition LP on The Spring Press label. This double LP features four sides of improvised electronics that lead the listener into the dark recesses of the duos subterranean explorations. Each of these works move at a slow and considered pace, gradually unfolding into a transportative blur of dark psychedelic minimalism. Like elements of Coils long-form works, this is music which has the potential to melt time, open space, and create a flowing web of liquid memory. A sublime record for those who like music that encourages travel. Mastered and cut by CGB at Dubplates and Mastering, Berlin, August 2013. Artwork by Stephen OMalley." - Editions Mego.

Title: 1-4+5
Format: 5LP Box Set
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $165.00
"Editions Mego are proud to release the complete recorded works of Dome in a deluxe vinyl box set that also includes newly-designed artwork by David Coppenhall, reproductions of the original Atelier Koninck posters that accompanied Dome 1 and Dome 2, an insert with sleeve notes by Howard Jacques and Neil Martinson as well as unseen photos from the period. If that wasnt enough, it also contains a matchbox to put matches in to shake along to your favorite Dome tune! With the demise of the group Wire in 1980, founding members Bruce Gilbert and Graham Lewis joined forces to create Dome. With the assistance of engineer Eric Radcliffe and his Blackwing Studio, Dome took the ethic of "using the studio as a compositional tool" and recorded and released three Dome albums on their own label in the space of 12 months: Dome (July 1980), Dome 2 (October 1980) and Dome 3 (October 1981). A final fourth album, Will You Speak This Word: Dome IV was released on the Norwegian Uniton label in May 1983. These albums represent some of the most beautifuly stark and above all timeless exercises in studio experimentation from the early 1980s alternative music scene. With the re-activation of Wire in 1985, it was thought that all Dome activity had ceased. While no new recordings appeared, Dome utilized any spare time to secretly record new pieces. In 1989 dancer/choreographer Michael Clark commissioned them to record a piece for his new ballet "Because We Must." In the same year, they also performed live in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. In 1999, WMO commissioned Dome to record new pieces to accompany the recordings from 1989. This compilation, entitled Yclept, would be the final recordings, to date, that Dome have made. Dome 1-4 appear on vinyl for the first time in over 30 years, whereas the recordings making up Yclept (Dome 5) appear for the first time ever on vinyl. Each LP is housed in a new cover based on the originals. Also includes a matchbox, a postcard, 2 posters and an 8-page 3-fold insert with some essays. Floating-point re-master by Russell Haswell, August 2011. Cut at Dubplates & Mastering by Rashad Becker, August 2011." -Editions Mego

Title: Relief
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
"Once more, Chicagos finest, Kevin Drumm, delivers a devastating slab of emotionally-charged noise. Its been 10 years since the epic statement that was Sheer Hellish Miasma. In the meantime, Drumm trawled through the depths of the global underground with a back-breaking catalog of releases for labels all over. Returning to Editions Mego, he delivers Relief, a 36-minute hypnotic roller-coaster ride through the depths of his unique palette of audio tactics. A haunting melody pinned to a bed of nails while it spins around the room, thats the kind of stuff Editions Mego likes. Extreme but approachable, a piece of music that demands repeated listens. Title: Sheer Hellish Miasma
Format: CD
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $15.50
"Originally released in 2002, now reissued with a bonus track. Utilizing guitar, tapes, mics, pedals, analog synthesizer and some computer assistance, Chicagos own Kevin Drumm concocted a sonic beast with Sheer Hellish Miasma. One is taken on an intense journey of storming feedback, open audio onslaught and somewhat savaged sonics. The extreme end of anarchic electronics and possibly a hint of musical violence is present throughout much of the disc. An essential release capturing Drumm at his most ferocious and most inventive. Its an exhilarating, visceral test of endurance brimming with demonic humor and a tour of Drumms ever-expanding sonic palette. For seasoned noise veterans, Sheer Hellish Miasma offers a bracing soundscape filled with exquisitely abrasive textures and more than enough hidden detail to warrant repeated listening - a distinct voice in the increasingly same-sounding world of abstract electronic noise. For everyone else, Drumms journey through the noisy underworld is likely to inspire fear or, in an optimistic case, fearful admiration. This reissue comes with an additional track, "Impotent Hummer," taken from the same period - a 13-minute drone piece that draws the listener into the forthcoming blizzard. In total? A din of arms, the fierce swell of damaged drone and the shriek of subtle shifting sonic slaughter ... for the seasoned, a bountiful sonic feast awaits, for the meek its intense and rewarding - noise rarely sounds this exhilarating. Revised artwork by Stephen OMalley. Re-mastered at Piethopraxis, Köln, December 2006." - Mego.

Price: $16.00
"Trouble is the brand-new dispatch from the assorted output of Kevin Drumm and sits as one of the quietest in his entire catalog. A single continuous 54-minute excursion into the netherworld of the audio spectrum, Trouble is neither ambient nor drone, but a more complex investigation into the deep recesses of sound. One which discreetly works itself into the mind of a listener willing to invest in the path laid out in this extremely subtle, beautiful and exceptional release. Format: Double LP

"Gatefold double vinyl version. This is the third official album by Emeralds (after Solar Bridge on Hanson, and the self-titled LP on their own Wagon and Gneiss Things imprints, as well as countless small edition tapes and CD-Rs on a host of labels) and once again, it presents another radical new direction for this Cleveland trio. It sees the group moving from playing single oscillator analog synthesizers to really complex analog and analog/digital hybrids as well as a great deal of guitar synthesizers, not to mention fine-tuning their skills as brilliant tunesmiths. Simply put, the results are outstanding. Comprising of a number of tracks from their ultra-limited 7" vinyl series on Wagon, as well as new compositions exclusive to this release, this fine selection of tunes surpasses anything they have achieved in their 5-year career. Perfect melodies intertwined with ripping sequences and a guitar sound that floats perfectly throughout. Although most tracks cover new ground in that they follow a shortened "pop format," more long-form cuts such as the towering "Genetic" and the title track will give fans of their earlier work something to grab onto, or totally let themselves go, depending on their state of mind. Having spent all their lives in the relative isolation of Cleveland means their music has developed into a vital, stunning unique hybrid that may not have been able to blossom in more active urban centers. Does It Look Like Im Here? heralds a turning point for all those involved and is a perfect, vivid soundtrack to emerge out of a harsh, grey winter. Fresh, shiny and totally essential." -Editions Mego.

Title: Just To Feel Anything
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
"Initial copies with gatefold sleeve, but not for long. Just to Feel Anything, the new album by Emeralds, surpasses all expectations, just as its predecessor, Does It Look Like Im Here, did in 2010. This expertly recorded new album sees the band deliver plenty of their distinctive aesthetic for old fans to enjoy while offering a new range of fresh, exciting ideas for newcomers. "Before Your Eyes" begins the record with a steady build-up, which bleeds into humid layers of synthesizer pads and warm guitar. The track sets the tone perfectly for "Adrenochrome," a fast-paced excursion into new territory for the band. The calm after the storm appears in the form of "Through & Through," with its contemplative strokes and heart-wrenching atmospherics. "Everything Is Inverted" is an energetic rush of monolithic guitar leads, pulsing drum machine, and driving sequences. Still, its on the second half of Just to Feel Anything, a triptych of tracks, where Emeralds adroitly demonstrate why they are a cut above their contemporaries. "The Loser Keeps America Clean" kicks off the B-side by diving into the deepest fathoms of their experimental oeuvre. As the final bursts of static dissipate, we are led into the opening chords of the eponymous "Just to Feel Anything," a new zenith in Emeralds repertoire. The album closer, "Search for Me in the Wasteland" sees mounting layers of brightly strummed guitar chords blossom into a storm of color and expertly crafted textures -- a truly majestic end to an immense album. With Just to Feel Anything, Emeralds shine a laser-sharp light into the future, while preserving their uniquely intelligent historical perspective. Format: CD

Price: $16.00
"Written and recorded in Whitby, York and Rotherham (UK) during summer 2010 by Mark Fell (one-half of the duo snd). Mastered at Dubpates and Mastering Berlin in 2010 by Lupo. Part 1: The Occultation of 3C 273. Using 32 operator frequency modulation synthesis configured in 16 pairs of operator and modulator. Frequency, modulation ratio and amount determined by linear interpolation between two spatial extremes, with further interpolation over variable temporal divisions. Panned at equal positions around the circumference of a circle using high order ambisonics. First implemented for the DVD Attack On Silence (Line Records 2008) and developed for the cassette release Thunder Bollocks with Evol (Alku 2009). The compositions here also feature modified Roland TR707 and Linn kick drum samples. Part 2: Vortex Studies with 2, 4 or 8 channel rectangular waveforms with variable pulse width subject to frequency modulation from synchronized sine functions with variable phase offsets. Initially implemented with synchronized blue light at Algorithm, Glade (Thatcham 2008) with further presentations at Enjoy (Leeds 2008), Centre dArt Santa Mònica, Sónar (Barcelona 2008), Three Pieces For Unattended, Somewhat Attended and Attended Computer (Sheffield 2008), Avoid (Leeds 2009), Three Neurocognitive Approaches To The Formation Of Cross-Modal Objecthood (Rotherham 2009) Sonic Materialities (Sheffield 2010) and as Supersymmetry at Matter-Space-Motion (Elsecar 2010). Here with percussion synthesis. -Editions Mego "This project takes its name from the Celestion UL8 speaker. My older brother bought a pair of these when I was starting comprehensive school, and between his 10cc and Supertramp records, I first encountered very loud electronically-synthesized sound. I soon noticed a pattern emerging in my musical tastes which excluded guitars or drums. Instead, I favored almost exclusively the electronic textures and rhythms of The Human League, Fad Gadget and other synthesizer-based music of that period. I was quite curious about this prejudice and would try to work out why Kraftwerk sounded so much better than a rock band of the time. Since then, my interest was in the texture of synthetic sound -- there was something much more beautiful (and perhaps more emotionally-charged) about a sustained square wave than any guitar solo. Soon, I began to search out and replay sections of music which dropped to a single sound -- these, for some reason, were the best." -Mark Fell

"Cassette version, limited to 200 copies. Includes two bonus tracks not on the LP. "First solo audio-only release by Melbourne-based sound and laser artist Robin Fox and first solo release since the mind-melting Backscatter DVD on Synaesthesia (2005). Taking time out from his duo with Anthony Pateras, A Handful Of Automation showcases Foxs unique and highly individual take on the usually misunderstood extreme computer music genre, and is a pleasurably disorientating ride. Alongside chaos trips such as "Boundary Layer Skin Friction" and the stunning title-track, sit beautifully-scored examples of electronic concentration such as "GODSPEED" and the closing "Melophobia (Final Edit)." This album is a must for connoisseurs of high-grade computer usage, and is released as a vinyl LP as well as a C50 cassette featuring 2 bonus cuts. Title: This Way With The Shivering Man
Format: Double LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $26.00
"Editions Mego presents a special gatefold vinyl edition collecting Bruce Gilberts classic solo albums from 1984 and 1986 in a limited edition of 500. This Way, originally released in 1984 on Mute, was UK guitarist Bruce Gilberts first solo album, realized in that brief period between Dome winding down operations and Wire reforming for the first time. A stunning study of controlled ambience and subtle minimalism which is still regarded as an all-time favorite at Editions Mego. The Shivering Man, originally released in 1986 on Mute, was Bruce Gilberts second solo album, further exploring Gilberts investigations into the grey border where abstract noise and rhythm co-exist with obscure melodies and song structures. The sound is further expanded with guest vocal appearances by Angela Conway and fellow Wire traveler Graham Lewis." -Editions Mego.

Title: Lets Build a Pussy
Format: Double LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $29.00
"Editions Mego is happy to announce a vinyl reissue of the long out-of-print and impossibly rare final Harry Pussy album, the monumental Lets Build a Pussy. Originally released in 1998 after the band broke up, this has always been an elusive release. "You cannot buy this anywhere and you will never find one!!!" was what one writer exclaimed. Consisting of an hour-long piece of Bill Orcutt time-stretching a second of Adris Hoyos voice into a slow, shifting drone. A piece of music you will love or hate, with not much room for anything in between. As Alan Licht states in his liner notes: "Lets Build a Pussy is a requiem, of sorts; Adris opening one-second vocal noise has been variously termed a yelp or a shout, but I prefer to think of it as Bill and Adris mutual last gasp, a band death-rattle. Put in a computer program, Adris protracted utterance becomes, almost literally, the ghost in the machine. Lets Build... is something of a late 90s audio inheritor of 19th-century spirit photography. Paradoxically functioning as both Harry Pussys curtain call and final act, Lets Build a Pussy is an altogether unique past-tense statement from a band whose members were not immediately going on to solo careers or to other bands." Bill Orcutt (Mouse), Adris Hoyos (Mouth). Available only in this format. Cut by Rashad Becker at Dubplates and Mastering, Berlin, June 2012. Housed in a gatefold sleeve." -Editions Mego.

Title: Electroacoustic Sludge Dither Transformation Smear Grind Decomposition No!se File Exchange Mega Edit
Format: Double CD
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $22.00
"Electroacoustic Sludge Dither Transformation Smear Grind Decomposition nO!se File Exchange Mega Edit is the long-awaited collaboration from two of the worlds finest purveyors of noise, electroacoustics, and top-shelf audio mayhem. Having met at the legendary Tokyo venue 20000 Volts in 1997, Russell Haswell and Pain Jerk (Kohei Gomi) stayed in touch with the intent to collaborate at some point in the future. This was eventually realized in 2012 when they were offered a gig to play together at the Rammel Club in Nottingham. Prior to the show they exchanged files of solo recordings, as a means of forming a basis for what was initially conceived as an "extreme duet tag mass attack." It was here that the foundation was laid for the epic extreme end-result we now encounter. The Nottingham performance was recorded and both parties took away the results in addition to their solo recordings to re-edit and re-send, back and forth, for two years, re-editing and re-contextualizing these original sounds. The results of this extended collaboration is a punk academic collision which utilizes advanced computer music techniques and analog/digital modular synthesizer splurge, along with the more basic and belligerent frequencies found in distortion and feedback. This can also be read as a study of editing in all forms; hyper-editing, editing in pop music, editing in dance culture, electro-acoustic editing, the editing techniques used in musique concrète, editing used in film and advertising along with the notion of gaps -- the audible and inaudible. A blistering 2CD collision of transformation, technique, ideas and form which resides equally in the advanced fields of electroacoustic study and the high energy freeform noise from which both practitioners sprung." - Editions Mego.

Title: Kanal GENDYN
Format: LP + DVD
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $31.00
"Editions Mego is happy to announce the release of Kanal GENDYN, a vinyl and DVD set by Russell Haswell & Florian Hecker. This is the first full-length release by the artists following their highly-acclaimed albums, Blackest Ever Black and UPIC Warp Tracks. In the late 90s/early 2000s, it became common for bands, or solo artists to perform live -- often alternative -- soundtracks to feature films or silent classics. Critical of obvious instrumentation and the combination with known classic film, the artists Russell Haswell and Florian Hecker chose to create a real-time soundtrack to an un-scored film, Kanal Video (1992, 60 min.) by the Swiss artist duo Peter Fischli & David Weiss. Core to Kanal GENDYN is Haswell & Heckers ongoing research on the legacies of polymath Iannis Xenakis (1922-2001) and in particular, his concept of the Dynamic Stochastic Synthesis, an abstract sound synthesis procedure that creates "sound out of nothing." In an interview with Peter Hoffmann, the artists recall: "This video, which consists of an hour-long ride through the Zurich sewage system, with a remotely controlled maintenance vehicle equipped with a video camera to survey the sewers for eventual irregularities of defects -- struck us both as an ideal piece to be projected in a nightclub or music venue with a GENDYN only performance. We found twisted relations with such an hour-long tunnel vision. Once with the seemingly endless amount of computer-generated video projections used as visuals accompanying raves and techno parties during the 1990s -- and also to the accounts of visual hallucinations induced by mescaline as described by Heinrich Klüver in the 1920s -- with the so-called form constants -- where he mentions amongst others, tunnel-like patterns. The particularities of GENDYN, with its ever-changing and meandering waveforms appeared to us as an ideal counterpart." Kanal GENDYN was performed on the occasion of the event "Musterraum 9. Dual Presentation -- Peter Fischli & David Weiss -- Russell Haswell & Florian Hecker" at Musterraum, Munich, 1/30/2004. Originally constructed as an experimental building, "Musterraum" -- German for "sample" or "reference room" -- was a freestanding cube with a base area of 10×12 meters. Built as a test and reference space for the planning and construction of the adjacent Pinakothek der Moderne. Two stereo feeds were crossed for quadraphonic (4.0) diffusion using a L&B F12/B12 loudspeaker system. Performed concurrently to the Peter Fischli & David Weiss, Kanal Video (1992, 60 min.) screened on three facing walls. Kanal GENDYN is released as a stereo vinyl LP + 4.0 DTS 24 Bit/48 KHz DVD (audio-only) set. The cover features 10 stills from the original Fischli & Weiss video, included inside is a 30x30 cm 170 gram paper insert with a further, full-page still, plus extensive sleeve notes by musicologist and software developer Peter Hoffmann, and everything was designed by NORM, Zurich. Its also worth noting that, with a running time of over an hour, this is one of the longest single LP releases you will come across. Cut by Rashad "The Master" Becker at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin, September 2011." - Editions Mego.

Title: S/H
Format: Double CD
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $22.00
"S/H is an anthology of rare and unreleased solo works by former Emeralds member Steve Hauschildt. Handpicked from eight years of home recordings, S/H is an archival work which delves into the inner workings of both his own music and his contribution to Emeralds sound. Much of Steves work has lay dormant for many years, but S/H gives the listener a personal tour of his canon from 2005-2012. Steves music was initially born out of the mid-2000s Midwestern noise scene. But instead of creating harsh noise, he reconfigured and reappropriated techniques from the Berlin School, drone, new age and other forms of electronic music to create something wholly his own. This two disc set ranges from short electronic sketches to full-blown synthesizer suites. Most of this material is unreleased, with a few essential rarities that appeared on cassette and CD-r releases for such imprints as Mike Pollards Arbor, Chris Madaks Deception Island and Hauschildts now-defunct label, Gneiss Things." - Editions Mego

Title: The Wires Cracked
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
"The recordings for The Wires Cracked were completed in a frenzied two week period in October of 2012. I had mentioned in discussing a previous albums construction that I prefer to forget how I build any particular electro-acoustic amalgam. This is so that I dont get to precious with them, so that I could refine them further, so that the sounds themselves speak beyond their aggregate parts. With the album being relatively fresh in my mind, I can still recall various components to "The Wires Cracked" -- the desolate howl of a metal screen activated by a desert wind, the hissing air compression from the cooling apparatus for a laser at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory operated by Stanford University, and the tremolo rhythms from a thin wire that still get me thinking fondly of Günter Schickert -- but much of the caustic drone, thrumming reverberation, and tactile grit thoroughly escapes me. Thats probably for the best, since these various parts speak to an existential rupturing, the collapse of the self, the aftershocks of dark energy, and a belief in the hope for renewal. Describing his work through the pithy phrase "I rust things," Jim Haynes is an artist who has developed a vocabulary of decay that he has applied to photography, video, installation, and sound. Haynes sound work draws from shortwave radio static, electric field disturbances, controlled feedback manipulation, and numerous textural scrapings, manifesting broken minimalism of magnetic drones and volatile tactility. This engineering of disparate materials and media seeks to evince the unpredictability of decay, to manifest its potential for a rough hewn beauty, and to bare witness to its inevitability. He has exhibited internationally at Electric Works (San Francisco), the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art , the Bekerley Art Museum, The Exploratorium (SanFrancisco), WestSpace (Melbourne, Australia), Jack Straw Productions (Seattle), Eyedrum (Atlanta), Diapason (New York), and The Lab (San Francisco). Haynes has published his work through the Helen Scarsdale Agency, 23five Incorporated, Intransitive, Observatoire, and ElevatorBath. He has collaborated with Steven Stapleton (Nurse With Wound), M.S. Waldron (irr. app.(ext.)), Keith Evans, Allison Holt, and Loren Chasse. Haynes is one of the directors for 23five Incorporated and is the sole occupant at the Helen Scarsdale Agency." -Editions Mego.

"Hox is Edvard Graham Lewis (Wire/Dome/He Said/He Said Omala/Ocsid) and Andreas Karperyd (Omala/He Said Omala/Woodwork). Duke of York is their second release following 1999s highly acclaimed it-ness. Duke of York is a bittersweet contemporary electronic pop record that could only exist as a result of the unison of these particular peculiar souls. At once tender, skewered, sophisticated, and unsettling, Duke of York is a both a journey through the collective minds of Lewis and Karperyd and a substantial representation of their individual talents. While both tackle the sonic side of the outing, Lewis also presents pleasantly paranoid lyrics and Karperyd drapes it all in a distinguished design. This combination presents a substantial study of the sonically impressive and visually inviting, with songs rich in brooding, dark atmosphere and melodic content. The production retains the mood of classic Lewis output while achieving a fresh and radical approach to electronics and studio production with Karperyd. Duke of York is another significant chapter in Lewiss distinguished and uncompromising career and adds to Karperyds intriguing output. As with the best experimental pop records, Duke of York unfolds with repeated listening, revealing infinite charms. All tracks written, recorded, and mixed by E. G. Lewis and A. Karperyd in Sweden. Mastered and cut by CGB at D&M in Berlin." - Editions Mego.

Title: Capital Dub Chapter 1
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $22.00
"I-LP-O In Dub is the solo project of Pan Sonic member Ilpo Väisänen. Capital Dub Chapter 1 follows the 2015 debut Communist Dub (EMEGO 203LP) - a year marked by further descent into economic crisis and instability. The usual business cycles of production/distribution/consumption, running alongside macro cycles of boom and bust, have been replaced by ossification, austerity, the machine seizing up. Ilpos "circular riddims" complement the ebb-and-flow of the circulation of money + commodities and are mirrored by his field recordings of Barcelona rain -- the final phase of the cyclical movement of water. But of course the smooth running of "Paradise Capital" is unsustainable. Destroyed techno and open spaces contend with sinister swarming atmospheres. A cash machine flickers. Zeros and ones displace another factory. Dub as decay -- the ghostly remains of tracks eroded by time and technology. The "Invisible Hand" of the market spasms with tremors. Ferocious textural feedback as music for stock exchange crashes. The soundtrack to heaps of money hoarded by the hidden class. Capital is value in motion, but there is nowhere to go. After the collapse, picturesque ruins. Capital Dub Chapter 1 simply asks the question: what next? Influenced by the first part of Karl Marxs Capital (1867). Recorded anytime in there, rain & 808 at Pallars152, Poblenou, Barceloba; Mixed at Juniper & Stone, Kartula, Finland; Mastered at Dubplates & Mastering." - Editions Mego.

"Communist Dub is Pan Sonic member Ilpo Väisänens second solo album for Editions Mego (Asuma having appeared 2001). This striking new release is a statement against technocracy and the erosion of human community. Whilst Jamaican dub and ska are often cited as an influence on Väisänens work, this album utilizes dub as strategy as opposed to genre -- the precise manipulation of sound and the removal of all extraneous material to create a disorientating landscape of austere spaces. Pulled into a sucking pit of reverb and echo, the listener can choose whether to be pummeled into submission or to reflect on their situation. Väisänens intricate rhythmic structures propel the listener from monochrome machinic matrices to head-wrecking abstraction. The ten track titles hint at failed emancipatory projects of the last century with a nod to the present situation -- Donetsk Disciples: Bolsheviks meeting the farmers (and wiping them out), Benghazi Affair: Libyan connection and arming the forces, but history is taking over. A burning man in Tunisia starts the future. Communist Dub is a ruthless criticism of everything existing, but one ultimately tempered by hope" --John Eden. Tracks by Ilpo Väisänen. Recorded sometimes in here. Mastered by Rashad Becker at Dubplates & Mastering. Photos and cover idea by Ilpo Väisänen. Layout by Stephen OMalley. Nation of versions, i-shent recommended. Dedicated to victims of isms." - Editions Mego.

Price: $21.00
"Parallel/Grayscale is the first collaborative work between Italian guitarist and composer Giuseppe Ielasi and French-Swiss composer and electroacoustic musician Kassel Jaeger. It is comprised of two different improvisation sessions. The first one took place in Paris, in October of 2011. The second happened in Oreno, in June of 2012, after the first concert Ielasi and Jaeger performed together. The first session was a pure analog device improvisation, whereas the second one was more laptop-oriented. These two moments have been melted together, forming two different subtracts of the same material. Gratitude to Fabio Carboni and Sara Serighelli from O, Milano." -Editions Mego.

Price: $21.00
"Kassel Jaeger is a French-Swiss artist based in Paris and a member of the GRM (Groupe de Recherches Musicales). Deltas is his fifth album, and first on vinyl. "Campo Del Cielo" (2012): Commissioned by Espace Mendes France for a performance at The Planetarium in Poitiers, France, diffused on an 8-channel system. The sound material is exclusively derived and processed from stone recordings. The first part, "Aerolite (flying stone)," is mainly based on aerial field recording of stone manipulations. The second part, "Baetylus (sacred stone)," is made with electromagnetic capture of meteorite resonances. This meteorite was part of the Campo Del Cielo site. "Deltas" (2012): "Whenever the volume of water is so great as to counteract and almost neutralize the force of tides and currents, and in all cases where the latter agents have not sufficient power to remove to a distance, the whole of the sediment periodically brought down by rivers, deltas are produced." "A Guest + a Host α" (2011): Commissioned for Ina-GRMs Retro/Actif at La Gaîté Lyrique, Paris, France. Originally displayed on 16 channels, this work is exclusively composed with non-processed and original sounds made with the legendary Coupigny Modular Synth housed in the Groupe de Recherches Musicales studios. This work is structured as three dialectical parts: electricity + crystals = spectrum. "A Guest + Host = Ghost" (M. Duchamp). Mastered with Robert Hampson at 116 Bunker, Paris, May 2012. Cut by Rashad Becker at Dubplates and Mastering, Berlin, July 2012. Layout by Stephen OMalley." -Editions Mego.

"Timely outing from two grand masters of exploratory electronics. Kassel Jaeger is the moniker of French musician François Bonnet who works at the GRM and has released a number of books including the highly regarded The Order Of Sounds: A Sonorous Archipelago, published by Urbanomic in 2016. Jim ORourke is known to most through his explorations of the song and shapes, the high and low, the east and south. Wakes On Cerulean is a joint adventure where process folds upon process and the operation of procedure remains unknown. Amongst a mysterious cloud of excited high frequencies, tiny whistles howl. Frog leaps in technique lay out a thrilling and uplifting journey that runs from the soothing, to ecstatic, and back to the buoyant again. Wakes On Cerulean is a staggering feast of the joys found in electronic process. It is a malleable bubble of hovering excitement, melody and joyous refrain." - Editions Mego.

"Finally the fifth KTL studio album is ready for release. Whereas their previous album IV (EMEGO 089CD) was recorded and made in a relatively short period in a more traditional rock environment, V turns full circle, takes its time and tackles the complex working processes of the European avant-garde. Rooting themselves in such legendary electronic music studios such as EMS in Stockholm and GRM in Paris, Stephen OMalley (SunnO))), Khanate, etc.) and Peter Rehberg (Pita, etc.) have delivered a rich set of sound experiments far removed from the harsh metal/noise blizzards of their early albums. They took a step further by inviting Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson to orchestrate "Phill 2" (performed by City of Prague Philharmonic, conducted by Richard Hein), resulting in a towering storm of monumental classicism. Finally, "Last Spring: A Prequel" turns the whole album on its head with the abstract alien textures of the Gisèle Vienne installation of the same name, with text by Dennis Cooper spoken with devout intensity by long-term Vienne collaborator, Jonathan Capdevielle. With full-color artwork by Mark Fell, V is KTLs most sophisticated work to date. Produced by KTL. Photo by Estelle Hanania. Stephen OMalley (guitar, bass, modular synthesizer, computer, contact mics), Peter Rehberg (modular synthesizer, computer). Title: All Over
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
“Editions Mego is proud to present the first recordings by Edvard Graham Lewis released this century. Having made his name in legendary punk/experimental outfits Wire, Dome and He Said, Lewis has developed an exceptional voice with ceaseless exploration of a wide variety of musical forms. All Over is a song-based album that resides amongst the cracks between narrative and song, sound and music. Cloaked in an atmosphere of beauty and paranoia, All Over conjures the spirit of Wires experimental pop trajectory while simultaneously exploring a multitude of sonic possibilities. Gritty mechanical operations support Lewis wry human observations in a uniquely disturbing mélange of punk, industrial, techno and pop. A dream logic plays throughout All Over, courtesy of Lewis odd lyrical content being set with all manner of disorientating sound and rhythm. All tracks were written and composed between 2003-2013 in parallel with the works included on All Under. Several contributors generously collaborated at distance from L.A., Japan, Scotland, Italy, Germany, UK and Sweden, furthering this catchy excursion into the unstable grid of the 21st century. All Over is a major amalgamation of music, media, man and mind. Contributors: Howardamb (bartered tones, tracks 2,4,11); Andreas Karperyd (electronics, track 1); Linda Dahl (vocal, track 5); Jim Ascroft, Fabrizio Clemenza, and Giovanni Romano (vocal, track 5); P.T. Kirk (additional electronics, track 9); Jan Lundquist (lead vocal, track 12). Mastered by Russell Haswell. Cut by Rashad Becker at Dubplates & Mastering in Berlin.” - Editions Mego.

Title: All Under
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
“All Under, the companion release to All Over compiles soundtracks to films, installations and a self-penned short story. This is familiar terrain for Edvard Graham Lewis, who, along with Bruce Gilbert, produced the early interactive audio-visual installation "MZUI" at Londons Waterloo Gallery in 1981. Since this period, Lewis has been involved in countless soundtracks to all manner of cultural artefacts. The haunting score to Gunilla Leanders 2003 short film All Under was improvised in real time with a sampler and FX processing and recorded onto mini disc. The results are a viscous ambience of swirls, feedback and distortion. This material was then adapted for an immersive three-screen installation of the same visual material which features combinations of six nude bodies (four men, two women) fighting and wrestling, filmed underwater. The soundtrack here crawls further in the depths as electronic phrases swim amongst a foreboding ambience. Both of these works encapsulate the same disembodied effect of the visual material as hovering, uncanny sound worlds seep into the listeners subconscious. "The Eel Wheeled" features Lewis reading one of his own bizarre stories underscored with a suitably disorienting soundtrack sourced from sound effects of the Prime Sounds SFX Library. This version was remixed by Thomas Öberg (member of Bob Hund and 27#11). "No Show Godot" concludes the set. A soundtrack to a "sky movie" (road movies be warned) completed in 2013. Coming out of the initial sub-aquatic environments of the opening works, "No Show Godot" takes us on a spiraling high before folding into a gritty, godly industrial mantra which comes along as a perfect means of tying up these two concurrent releases as a symmetrical whole. Track #3 is a remixed version by Thomas Öberg. Track 4: Pauline Svanerö (vocals), P.T. Kirk (additional drones). Mastered by Russell Haswell. Cut by Rashad Becker at Dubplates & Mastering in Berlin.” - Editions Mego.

Title: Ett
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
"Klara Lewis debut release presents an electronically-charged reconstruction of organic sound matter. Ten tracks featuring a wide variety of sonic material which is subjected to Lewis unique approach to the sonic landscape. Field recordings, small sounds, samples, ambient pot holes, repetition, and giddy disorientation are all tactics deployed by Lewis. On entering these works we take a voyage through a series of audacious audio adventures, playful musical miniatures and choppy sonic seas. There is a human warmth to much of the material as Lewis expertly crafts musical matter from the living world. Ett is an exemplary investigation as Lewis reconfigures the sounds of life itself, from the delirious to the tender. A bold vision from a bright new talent. Recorded, sampled, edited, manipulated, mixed, produced, and arranged by Klara Lewis. Artwork by Dave Coppenhall." - Editions Mego.

Title: Too
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $22.00
"Following her acclaimed 2014 debut, Ett (EMEGO 190LP), and the subsequent Msuic EP on Peder Mannerfelts eponymous label (2014), Klara Lewis presents her second full-length, Too. Lewiss skill at sculpting the hermetic shines on Too as she twists her idiosyncratic vision into nine tracks of blurred rhythms and haunted backdrops. Too is a powerful statement in which the individual works tread a vast landscape as dour and aggressive elements rub shoulders with warmer, more optimistic works. Neither looking behind nor forward, these works spiral in a time of their own devising, presenting themselves as a most audacious theater for the ear. With a strong momentum developed from an organic outset the works move into a logic of their own, forming themselves as abstract landscapes, jittered rhythms, and even pop-like structures. Too is a deeply engaging display of sound and skewered sensibility that hovers on the cusp of reason and eludes the concrete. The results are Lewiss boldest statement to date. Written, produced, and mixed by Klara Lewis. Additional sound contributions on "Twist" and "Want" by Simon Fisher Turner. Mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D&M, February 2016. Drawing by Klara Lewis. Layout by Andreas Karperyd." - Editions Mego.

Title: Youll Be Safe Forever
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
"Youll Be Safe Forever marks the first release from Locust in 12 years. Mark Van Hoen, who made a string of influential releases as Locust on R&S records in the 1990s, all but retired the alias at the end of that decade. In May 2012, Van Hoen was invited to perform a live set on WFMU radio. In order to make the set more spontaneous and add a further dimension, he asked friend and fellow musician Louis Sherman to collaborate. While improvising new material in Shermans Brooklyn rehearsal studio, it swiftly became obvious that the material sounded like Locust. Inspired by joint explorations with found sound sources and ambient textures, and sharing a pan-dimensional immersion in the length and breadth of analog and digital recording, the duo performed a series of tracks live. This material, combined with previously-recorded tape tracks dating back to 2006 form the bulk of the album. The melancholic depths of electronic music explored in those improvisations, expanded further through subsequent sessions at Van Hoens Woodstock, NY studio, have resulted in this latest entry in Locusts impressive discography. The record showcases prime examples of Van Hoens compulsively hypnotic beats and abstracted pop vocals -- already hallmarks of his collected work since 1993 -- manipulating a global variety of samples in Celemonys Melodyne software to weave a unique sonic tapestry, as inviting as it is intricate. Paired with Shermans evocative synth improvisations -- an immediately visceral element new to Locust -- these collaborators have crafted a shattered landscape that bridges two perspectives of progressive movement in electronic music under a single name. Sherman, an American from Baltimore, comes to the band armed with a vast knowledge of the history of electronic music. This, combined with Londoner Mark Van Hoens known musical pedigree, maps the complete topography of a landscape -- its shadow and light, depth and height, mesmerizing complexity and ethereal simplicity -- with a break-beating heart and alchemical ear." -Editions Mego.

"And yet another killer album from the ever-productive Mark McGuire (Emeralds). It just keeps getting better, as he delivers another fine set of tunes in his perfected style. A few more electronic elements than usual and even some voices, but still the unique blend of feel-good riffs, electric and acoustic loops and melodies that just stick in the head. This album is chockablock with short hits and one long jam of blissed-out McGuire ambience. Awesome. Electric and acoustic guitar, vocals, and guitar-synthesizer recorded digitally between June 2010 and July 2011 in Westlake, Ohio and Portland, Oregon. Mixed at Hardbodies, July 2011 by Mark McGuire. Title: Living With Yourself
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $20.00
"Mark McGuire operates chiefly as guitarist in the legendary Emeralds; however, he also has racked up an impressive set of solo releases over the last few years (albeit mainly in small- to micro- print runs). Living With Yourself is his new album and Editions Mego hope to meet any demand which may arise from this fine selection of modern crafted guitar tunes. Focusing on his family, early friendships and the problems that inevitably develop through years of knowing someone, it takes McGuires sound even further out, and contains some of his most accomplished songs to-date. The opening track is a fine example of McGuires magical technique of taking a lone acoustic guitar then transforming the track into bliss-out electro wash looping off into the distance. And tracks like "Clouds Rolling In" and "Brain Storm" take off where such McGuire classics as "The Marfa Lights" (which incidentally is planned for a future reissue) left off. While connoisseurs of his sound will find all they desire in here, many superb surprises await around every corner. These are songs that cruise, bubble and rise to the top." - Mego.

Title: Returnal
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $22.00
"Gatefold LP version. Returnal is the fourth album from Daniel Lopatins Oneohtrix Point Never project, after Betrayed In The Octagon (Deception Island, 2007), Zones Without People (Arbor, 2009) and Russian Mind (No Fun, 2009). All 3 albums being superbly compiled on the Rifts double CD set (No Fun, 2009). It sees Lopatin fine-tune his craft for the creation of deep atmospheres and textures even further. Starting off with the mind-blowing triptych of "Nil Admiari"/"Describing Bodies"/"Stress Waves," which fires off into a noise/rhythm excess before entering a zone of relative calm, building to the melancholy of the final part. This sets the tone perfectly for the albums title track, a stunning, out-of-this-world ballad featuring Lopatins near-desperate vocal delivery, ending what could be seen as one of his most chilling and thought-provoking sides to-date. The atmosphere is slightly lifted as the darkened sun comes up over the ruins on "Pelham Island Road" and "Where Does Time Go," with the album closing with edgy broken beats and the fourth-world possible landscapes of "Preyouandi," which fades into the distance with echoes of the "Returnal" chorus closing the loop. Whats burnt into memory here is Lopatins love affair with the long, slow path back home... the cycle... the hypnotic sector... the ghost in the machine... and whether people are making dance music or hip-hop or space head-music or metal, the ouroboros is present in every sector -- as it was in Bachs study, and in the elephant songs of the Ituri forests. Instrumentation: Akai AX-60, Roland Juno-60, Roland MSQ-700, Korg Electribe ES-1, Voice. Recorded using a personal computer. Mastered by James Plotkin. Tape-op & additional engineering by Al Carlson. Awesome spot-varnished cover design by Stephen OMalley." - Editions Mego.

"A History of Every One by Bill Orcutt is an album of songs: minstrel songs, holiday songs, hymns, marches, cowboy songs, Disney songs, work songs, Delta blues. The original tunes themselves are nothing special, well known, but not particularly well-regarded. Most would be filler on a mid-60s Doris Day or Burl Ives LP. What Orcutt does with them however is remarkable: expanding upon techniques developed on 2011s How the Thing Sings (EMEGO 128CD/LP) and incorporating ideas forged since his recording of "The Star Spangled Banner" during his 2012 tour, Orcutt interrogates the apparent banality of his material, subjecting it to discontinuity, disjuncture and a fractured repetition that is disturbing and revelatory. Titled after a line from Gertrude Steins The Making of Americans and inspired by the scholarship of Elijah Wald and Eric Lott, A History of Every One is a bold re-writing of an important historical thread, an interpretation of a lost text and a bewildering extension upon Orcutts already singular language." - Editions Mego.

Title: A New Way To Pay Old Debts
Format: CD
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $16.00
"Editions Mego is suitably chuffed to announce a CD reissue of San Francisco guitarist Bill Orcutts acoustic hardcore blues stormer A New Way To Pay Old Debts, previously released on Palilalia in 2009, and for many, one of the highlights of recent years with its unique visionary take on solo guitar playing. At the heart of Orcutts sound is a vintage acoustic Kay guitar equipped with a DeArmond pickup. After the neck was broken and subsequently repaired, the guitar was downtuned so as to withstand the tension of the strings, and played with the A and D strings removed. This all lends itself to an intense set of raw, blues-influenced songs that sound heavier than most of the guitar records in your collection put together!! In addition to the original album, this CD reissue contain 2 tracks from the High Waisted 7" (also previously released on Palialia), as well as 4 unreleased tracks. Bill Orcutt: 4-string Kay, voice." -Editions Mego.

Title: Get In
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $22.00
“After the 2004 release of his last solo album, Get Off (HAPNA 019CD), Editions Mego founder Peter Rehberg embarked on a series of soundtracks for the French artist and choreographer Gisèle Vienne. Out of this collaboration were planted the seeds for the prolific KTL, Rehbergs guitar/computer duo with Stephen OMalley. After a surprise return to live performance in 2015, Rehberg now returns to his Pita alias with the full-length document Get In. Get In extends the perennial Pita sound into a paradox of intimidation and beauty. "20150609 I" teases the juncture between the human and the tool, the improvised and the composed, and the analog and the digital. "Aahn" inhabits a field of electronic nebula, simultaneously inviting and alien. "Line Angel" could be a new form of minimalism for the post-internet crowd. "S200729" evokes an acid most splintered while "Mfbk" completes proceedings as an ambient drift underscored with classical overtones. Get In is a beautiful, engaging, and unsettling listen. A multi-headed hydra presented as the ultimate dystopian sonic journey. Recorded and mixed by Peter Rehberg at Twisted, Vienna, March 2015-January 2016. Mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin, January 2016. Artwork by Tina Frank. Dedicated to Thomas Jerome Newton.” - Editions Mego.

"Brooklyn noise herald and Hospital Productions label-head, Dominick Fernow presents his first release for the Editions Mego label. Fernow has been an active instigator in the power electronics and noise genre for well over a decade, with 100+ releases issued so far, usually limited and covering all known formats. Known in particular for his harrowing live performances where he uses his voice, amps, microphones, coins, tools, suitcases etc., to create a brain-bashing journey through mangled, negative sound. In this spirit, Arrowhead is comprised of three ear-splitting tracks of high-end quality feedback, disturbed vocals and twisted percussion. While previewing this work for release on a flight from Milan to Vienna, it came to the attention of the listener that an irritated passenger two rows in front complained of high-pitched whistling in the air conditioning. Such is the power of Arrowhead. Recorded in the winter of 2004 in Providence, RI. Finalized in the winter of 2005 in New York City. Guest musician: Kris Lapke." - Editions Mego

Title: Content
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
“Philipp Quehenbergers music has existed as a consistent strain amongst the Austrian underground for the last 15 years. His output is a cracking combination of dancefloor zeal and deep disco disorientation. A perpetually rotating sphere which blends genres while bending the body and mind. Quehenbergers sweaty cerebrum is significantly showcased on his second full-length for Editions Mego. Content ventures deeper into Quehenbergers world of electro noir, ketamine cool and sordid soul. "Fucked" is a monumental drive through a gloriously queasy and sleazy terrain which leads into the rolling rhythms of the killer Uff Uff 12" (DEMEGO 020EP). Here, an oozing psychedelic tapestry folds amongst muffled voices, resulting in a striking, propulsive chant. "Startled" further charts the depths of dance and disorientation as striding rhythms coalesce amongst gloriously diminishing synths. "Extended" bounces around an ecstatic carnival atmosphere where an abject ringleader swerves amongst swirling organs and a thick organic beat. "Content" is brimming with hard, driving dance music -- a bass line degenerate hurtling out of the speakers as the ultimate mood enhancer. Equal parts quarantine and club, Content is one of Quehenbergers finest works to date. Mastered at Dubplates & Mastering. Cover drawing by Marta Mikulec.” - Editions Mego.

Price: $24.00
"Real Colors of the Physical World is a title whose parameters of reference may at first seem obvious, but a moments consideration renders it strange. The physical world, as opposed to the phenomenal, is, as we are able to suppose through the insights of science, an invisible place, if it is even enough to count as a place. What, then, are the qualities being named here? By way of an answer, it is worth recalling that musique concrète has not only an historical but a conceptual priority over kosmiche musik. The concrete in the cosmic: electronic music concerned itself from the beginning with getting past the emotional, historical, and religious themes that had defined traditional composition in order to head straight into the very matter of sound. For the concrete composers, this meant literal experimentation, stretching, analyzing, and recombining the properties and limits of auditory material and its perception. The kosmiche musicians conserved those approaches through metaphor as much as technique. The continuity between them involves a vocabulary of fundamental concerns: space, time, shapes, speed. Electronic music arguably allowed for music to become actively self-reflexive, even ontological, for the first time. Its natural epic form has always been the cosmogony. The kosmiche focus on space travel and cybernetic futures has its roots in the earlier electro-acoustic renderings of a universe whose deepest origins are electrical and sonic. Two tacit, convergent metaphors structure the conceptual explorations of both approaches: that "electronic composition" accurately describes the activity of the human nervous system; and that cosmic evolution may be legitimately qualified as an act of modular synthesis. But much electronic music today has lost sight of the ambition to map that convergence, giving way instead to an emphasis on superficial prettiness, period nostalgia, the merely pleasant stupor of the new age; or else to a vacuous static of technical fiddling. Raglani has never abandoned the grand vision that distinguished his ancestors, and this is his most determinedly comprehensive piece of work. It revisits the promise in the electronic synthesis of sound, implicit from its beginning, to construct a plastic image of the imperceptible dynamics beneath the surface of the world. This is a drama realized at constantly telescoping scales, in all directions. If the disintegration of a divine voice into the skittering communications of machines, or the transformation of a densely alien jungle into the promise of personal redemption, can count as objects of experience, they can do so only here, through the condensation of sound. But this hectic, exotically diffuse rendering has more in common with the world as we know it than does the placid stability of actual things; inner life has its own geometry, its own physics. The cosmic in the concrete: real colors remain within. Raglani has been making electronic music since he saw Otomo Yoshihide perform while under the influence of severe fever. This is his first full length album under his own name since 2006s Of Sirens Born. LP comes with a bonus 7". Mastered and cut by Rashad Becker." -Editions Mego.

Artist: SHIT AND SHINE
Title: Everybodys a Fuckin Expert
Format: Double LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $31.00
"The ascent of Shit and Shine is one of the great audio headfucks in memory, from its genesis out of the South London noise rock revivalist scene to a zone where rabbit-costumed maniacs bled a unique form of multi-drum and electronic hysteria to its incarnation of destroyed lysergic dance music. Shit and Shine is the epitome of second-guess-subversion. With a foot in every pie, it continues on a fantastic, twisted path. Everybodys a Fuckin Expert lays forth another slab of inverted tranquility in which general disruption is kept in check by the subversive charm unique to the outfit. Gunfire rhythms lay waste to androgynous sonics on "Ass"; deep sea disorientation allows pools of plasticine audio to rise on "Rastplatz"; "Picnic Table" rinses electro out of thick, gelatinous cybernetics. Everybodys a Fuckin Expert takes a smorgasbord of sounds and styles and contorts them into a bright hope in twisted theater, disorientating dance, and hefty hedonism. Both the faint- and strong-hearted allowed permanent entry to this club." - Editions Mego.

Title: Emergency Stairway
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
"Emergency Stairway could have been Thought Broadcasts debut vinyl full-length. In fact, when commissioned in early 2012, only one 7" and two super-limited tapes were in existence, until some other label snapped to the finish with an even older commission. So, lets say an "almost-debut." Confused? Well, yes, thats probably the point. Ravi Binnings Thought Broadcast project oozes out a dank and confused audio experience isolated way beyond the city limits. A glance at the titles suggests a routing in the primeval real industrial mind-set, hooked up to classic dub sensibility. Listening to these fascinating recordings, one gets the impression something happened in the room that you are probably not supposed to know about, hinting at a twisted form of Aktionism. Beyond the analog grime (these tracks were delivered to label as cassettes, then carefully transferred and mastered at Dubplates and Mastering in Berlin) lays some real treats with "Orgone Theater" and "Portrait Heads" fitting neatly beside V.O.A.-era Cabs in your local disco. Simply put, a beautiful record." -Editions Mego.

Title: Votive Zero
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
"Formed in opposition to the media identity schizophrenia of the present,Thought Broadcast thrive upon the post-punk tactics of forgery and radical anonymity. Votive Zero is the second release on Editions Mego from this mysteriously coded American outfit. Emerging from the U.S. noise/punk background, Thought Broadcast further trace a unique path with nine carefully-considered obfuscations of rhythm and blurred takes on expressionism. Utilizing minimalist spaces, rhythmic repetition and material textures, Votive Zero navigates psycho-geometries while bathing in a lost, dubplate-style fidelity. Within this construction, past and present are unified as a hazily paranoid exploration of electronic musics nebulous grey zone. From the damaged mystery of "07/13/2013" to the smeared beats of "Carving a Vow" and Morse code mantra of "Runaway Signal," this ambiguous release treads a subtle and suspicious path where secrets once hidden are revealed on further, deeper listens. Votive Zero is a sustained journey through raw, hand-rendered minimal electronics which advance the cause and effect of Thought Broadcasts strategic occurrences. Mastered and cut at Dubplates & Mastering, March 2014. Artwork by Ravi Binning." - Editions Mego.

Title: MP3 Deviations #6+7
Format: CD
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $16.00
"The MP3 Deviation album contains pieces that are results of the collaborative research by a team of the New Aesthetics in Computer Music (NACM) and myself, led by Tony Myatt at Music Research Center at the University of York in UK in 2009. My idea was to develop new software based on the disruption of the MP3. Primarily I thought the MP3 as a reproducing device could have created a very new sound by intervention between its main elements, the compression encoder and decoder. It turned out that result was not satisfactory. However, we found that if the sound file had been corrupted in the MP3, the corruptions generated 21 error messages, which could be utilized to assign various 21 lengths of samples automatically. Combining with different playback speeds, it could produce unpredictable and unknowable sound. That is a main pillar of the software. We, also, added some other elements such as flipping stereo channels and phase inversing alternately with a certain length of frequency ranges, which resulted in different timbres and pitches. I performed several times at the MRC and I was certain that this software would be a perfect tool for performances. I have tentatively performed the piece in public in Kyoto, May 2009 and in New York, in May 2010. I also performed it successfully with totally different sound sources when I was invited for The Morning Line in Vienna in June 2011." - Yasunao Tone.

Title: Giraffe
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $22.00
"Editions Mego present the latest opus from legendary British composer, actor, sound designer and all-round fine human, Simon Fisher Turner. Giraffe is a new major work which blurs the lines between sound design and song, machine severity and narrative sentimentality. Subtitled "Living In Sounds And Music", Giraffe takes the listener through a vast journey where an abstract clacking of unknown origin rubs up against a melancholic electronic sequence. "Life sounds" were captured with a portable hard disc recorder and iPhone and appear alongside contemporary sound design. Emma Smith provides the narrative on "Slight Smile" whilst electronic machines grind amongst background industrial clang in "Mud Larks". "Save As" revolves around a beautiful simple piano motif which soon folds into an unnerving field recording and drone combination. Giraffe is a document of interior and exterior duality, a living space where machines and the surrounding world collide, a sonic landscape where musical and nonmusical elements are placed on an level hierarchy. The alchemy of these constituent parts results in the magic of Giraffe, one where the symbiotic sequence of events highlights a unique approach to sound as rapturous matter in whatever form it takes. "Colour Fullness" features Elysian Quartet and Sawada. Elysian Quartet are Emma Smith, Vince Sipprell, Jenny Logan and Laura Moody. Vocals by Misako Yabuuchi and Emma Smith. Recordings made from 2008 to 2016. Mastered and cut at Dubplates & Mastering; Engineered by Rashad Becker." - Editions Mego.

Title: Generators
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
"Over the course of a year, Keith Fullerton Whitman performed a piece of live electronic music a few dozen times entitled "Generator." The debut was given in San Francisco at Root Stratas On Land festival at Cafe Du Nord on September 19th, 2009 -- over the months that followed, stagings took place in venues ranging from flooded basements to festival stages in Baltimore, Boston, Brooklyn, Chicago, Easthampton, Iowa City, Jamaica Plain, Northampton, Raleigh, Saint Louis, San Francisco, Somerville and Washington D.C. This LP covers the final two performances of the piece over two consecutive evenings; the opening solo set from the final night of the High Zero festival in Baltimore at the Theater Project, September 26th, 2010, then the performance during the "For Eliane" night of the Propensity Of Sound festival dedicated to Eliane Radigues work at Issue Project Room, Brooklyn, September 27th, 2010. These recordings show the piece in two different iterations, taking two different trajectories entirely. Theyre considered the definitive versions of the piece. Composed for, and realized with a scalable selection of digital and analog modular synthesis equipment, "Generator" was an attempt to wrest a viable performance-based music out of what had until then been a solitary set of sound-design tools. The piece grew out of a frustration with the limitlessness of computer-based real-time synthesis and algorithmic/generative systems vs. their utter failure as performance solutions. It hinges heavily on the ideology of the "Playthroughs" system (in that the subtle tuning inconsistencies of a physical instrument -- the electric guitar -- could be amplified and multiplied) through the use of multiple layerings of different topologies of oscillator, yielding an unstable array of modal canons that drift in and out of "tune," causing all manner of inter-voice beating and assorted psycho-acoustic effects." -Editions Mego

Title: Occlusions; Real-Time Music For Hybrid Digital-Analogue...
Format: LP
Label: Editions Mego
Country: Austria
Price: $21.00
"Occlusion is a loose framework for a multi-channel, freely-improvised piece of live electronic music, performed without the aid or consent of pre-recorded or even pre-arranged materials of any kind. A given realization will last between 10 and 30 minutes; time is elastic. Every effort has been made to avoid divisible rhythms (although mistakes are occasionally made). Still, I consider it a kind of dance music. These two realizations, recorded a week apart at festivals in France and The Netherlands during February 2012, capture the piece (much like those on the Generators LP) in two entirely different iterations, in states of (A) a mildly inebriated bliss & (B) an arbitrarily triggered blind rage. Both recordings were made at 24-bit, 96khz through the absolute cheapest means available to the consumer to do so. They sound fantastic. Occlusions is a companion piece to Generators in that they share the same tool-set; however, it is the free jazz yang to Generators minimalist yin. It is not recommended to those seeking meter, melody, cleanliness, or a clearly-outlined organizational sense." -Editions Mego.
