Artist: CHANDRA
Title: Transportation
Format: LP
Label: Cantor
Country: Canada
Price: $19.00
"Transportation is the story of Chandra Oppenheim, a 12 year-old girl who fronted an art-disco / post-punk outfit at the height of New Yorks adjective-punk scene in 1980. Showing considerable promise as a song writer by the age of 10, New York artist Dennis Oppenheim recruited local noisemakers The Model Citizens (who later became The Dance) and drummer Fred Maher (Material) to back his daughter Chandra in one of the most unique projects of the time. As Chandra penned her lyrics, the band composed abstract dance textures that gives the recording its unique and timeless sound: pulsing bass, resonant keyboards, and Chandras commanding voice. The original Transportation EP was released in 1980 on GoGo/On records, the bands own imprint. Cantor Records is proud to reissue the Transportation EP along with four unreleased tracks recorded by The Chandra Dimension (her touring band comprised entirely of teenagers) and packaged with a lovely 5"x7" booklet. Cantor Records is a new, Canadian label specializing in high-quality reissues of out-of-print recordings from the 60s, 70s and 80s. All reissues are packaged with historical liner notes and are done with full cooperation of the artists involved." - Cantor. Bound 68-page booklet loaded with detailed notes and rare photos. Title: Daily Dance
Format: LP
Label: Cantor
Country: Canada
Price: $18.00
"Daily Dance is a genuinely unique artifact from rural Ohio; a mythical frenzy of distorted guitar and improvised drums creating walls of psychedelic noise. Originally released in 1973, its sound is unparalleled for its time and precedes its closest kin, New Yorks no-wave explosion, by a solid 5 years. They generate waves of energy through cascading feedback squall and drumbo bash and shimmer. A few tracks will start with something vaguely resembling a groove, before they quickly deteriorate into their lonely Buckeye din. - Dante Carfagna. Cantor Records is proud to make Daily Dance available on vinyl for the first time in 35 years. Daily Dance was remastered from the original tapes, pressed at RTI, and is lavishly packaged with a heavy Stoughton paste-on jacket, informative Obi/U-Card, and an extensive 20-page booklet of liner notes. RIYL: Fushitshusha, Dead C, The Stooges, Velvet Underground." -Cantor. Finally available again after the now out of print 1998 CD reissue. Highly recommended!
