Artist: ALEXANDER
Title: Ridge Rd.
Format: Cass
Label: C/Site
Country: USA
Price: $5.50
“Newest release, and second on C/Site, for David Alexander Shapiro, AKA Alexander. The latest in a long line of releases named for the seemingly endless list of addresses Shapiro has lived and recorded. Ridge Rd. is a cassingle featuring two 7+ minute long fingerpicked guitar tracks. Side A is played on an acoustic guitar and is driving and quick paced, while Side Bs electric guitar is somber, slow and patient. Comparisons to Fahey or Rose may be the simplest points of reference for new listeners, but its Shapiros affinity for Alan Bishops (AKA Alvarius B.) guitar playing that really shines through on this release. Shapiros knack for home recording also gives this tape an intimate and subdued quality. Limited to 100 copies.” - C/Site.

Artist: MOUNTAIN MOVERS
Title: Sunday Drive/No Plans
Format: Cass
Label: C/Site
Country: USA
Price: $5.50
"Watching the Mountain Movers progression over the course of the past decade has truly been a treat. Their earliest beginnings saw the band documenting Dan Greenes vast catalog of songs, while displaying a rotating cast of New Haven musicians unique skills. The band produced three albums and several singles of polished indie rock in this incarnation. However, their fourth album, 2010s Apple Mountain, saw the band transition to stranger territory; home-recorded and employing an arsenal of miscellaneous instruments, the record bore a folk-psychedelic element not displayed on their previous work. Shortly after Apple Mountain, constant members Greene and Rick Omonte were joined by lead guitarist Kryssi Battalene and drummer Ross Menze to form, what is now, the bands longest running lineup. The band has since produced a series of singles, lathe-cuts, cassettes, and 2015s Death Magic, an album that melded Greenes song writing with the bands ability to stretch out and improvise. Now in 2016, Sunday Drive / No Plans gives the first glimpse into the Movers session at former drummer John Millers home studio. Two instrumental improvisations clocking in at just under 20 minutes that bring to mind names like Neu! and Ash Ra Tempel, as much as they do any number of American psychedelic acts of the 1960s. A wonderful preview of what promises to be one of the most stunning albums of 2016." - C/Site.

Artist: PIECES OF FRUIT
Title: Reach For Their Anger
Format: Cass
Label: C/Site
Country: USA
Price: $5.50
“2014 saw the release of Pieces of Fruit debut cassette, Sowere Soso, on Elm Recordings. That cassette featured five tracks of jangly Kiwi-influenced pop hinged on repetitive, off-kilter rhythms and hooks. Two years later and the band has developed the style, further pushing their unique sense of melody, while attaining new heights by weaving home, studio, and live recordings. Lead by Jules Lefevre, whose loose approach is perfectly glued by the rhythms of Tim Rowe (Worn Leather, Dead Uncles) and Dan Katz (Spit-Take), Pieces of Fruit will excite fans of the early home-styles of Sebadoh and Guided By Voices, New Zealand classics like The Bats and The Clean, as well as those looking for wondering guitar expansions. Limited to 50 copies.” - C/Site.

Artist: REPTILE RANCH
Title: s/t
Format: LP
Label: C/Site
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"In the early-to-mid 1970s the communities living in south central Wales Ebbw Valley felt a growing insecurity as the regions coalmines began to close. Life without the mines was difficult to imagine, as they had been the lifeblood of the area for as long as most could remember. From great instability great art is often born – and such is the case when Spike, Phil John, and Simon Smith came together at a school nestled between two mines in Newbridge to form Reptile Ranch.

The trio dabbled with song writing for years before escaping the Valley for the city of Cardiff. Here the band found their stride with growing influence from the burgeoning UK DIY movement. After sending a letter to Scritti Pollitis Carol Street address the boys received a package chalk full of information on how to release their own records. They wasted no time in forming their Z Block label, and releasing their brilliant debut Dont Give the Lifeguard a Second Chance 7”. In a smallest of small world coincidences they ran into Scritti Polliti and NME journalist Ian Penman while leaving the pressing plant with their freshly pressed, blank labeled, double A-side singles. From this chance meeting their first review was written, their relationship with Scritti Polliti was furthered, and distribution help from Rough Trade was solidified.

More invigorated than ever Reptile Ranch became a staple of a new scene in Cardiff, centered at the Grassroots Café. Like-minded bands like Riotous Brothers, The New Form, and Young Marble Giants joined Reptile Ranch in playing and releasing records. Reptile Ranch built a temporary studio in the café in order to record two Z Block compilations of Cardiff bands, Rough Cuts and Is the War Over?, as well as their masterpiece, 1980s 4-song Animal Noises 7”. Reptile Ranchs sound is deeply original. Often lacking drums, Phil Johns bass playing does double duty as both the guiding rhythm and backbone of melody. Meanwhile Spike and Simon Smiths guitar work are without parallel as they bob and weave through diverse sets of riffs and unique licks. Somehow the band lands in the realms of Post Punk that will excite fans of the Desperate Bicycles, Wire, and The Fall.

With this release all of Reptile Ranchs work is available on a single LP for the first time. In addition to the bands released work this record also features two unreleased live tracks and two unreleased studio tracks (one of which is from the bands improvisational alter ego Reptile Cancer). Packaged in beautiful hand-stamped jackets with paste-on photographs and includes a 6-page insert of photos, flyers, artwork, journals and memos. One time pressing of 500 copies."

Artist: ROWE, TIM
Title: Meet Me at the Hospital
Format: Cass
Label: C/Site
Country: USA
Price: $5.50
“After a decade playing with a variety of New Haven based bands (most notably Worn Leather and Dead Uncles) Tim Rowe steps out with his debut solo work. Though Rowe is typically known for quick paced raucous punk rock, Meet Me At The Hospital displays another side to his song writing. About half of the tape is dedicated to more somber acoustic tracks that show influence from masters like Petty and Young. Themes of longing and melancholy are augmented by accompanying guitar by Ed Peccerillo of Worn Leather. The other half of the tape displays a more experimental side of Rowes music, as he walks the line between written and improvised on several noisy and chaotic guitar numbers. An intriguing mix that flows effortlessly, making Meet Me... an extraordinary solo debut. Limited to 50 copies.” - C/Site

Artist: SHA, THE
Title: s/t
Format: Cass
Label: C/Site
Country: USA
Price: $5.50
"The Sha is a three piece collective made up of Matthew Earle, Adam Sussmann, and Christian Durham. Those names will seem familiar to those keeping up with the wealth of releases coming out on Earles Breakdance the Dawn imprint for the past decade plus. XNoBBQX, XWave, Love Chants, Sun of the Seventh Sister are just a few of the very many projects they dabble in. In The Sha the trio go into definitively psychedelic territory – sometimes of the rock variety, sometimes of a more experimental variety. On this self-titled cassette (their U.S. debut) the improvisations tend towards sustained repetition. They open the tape with an entrancing guitar number that stretches out over endless 1-2-1-2 drums, begging the question how one can maintain such a beat for such a prolonged time? And invoking notions of free and hippy rockers all the same. A later electronic and feedback drenched number is broken up by the occasional flourishes of harmonica and vocals – challenging the machines with simple acoustics to remind us that, however otherworldly it is, this music is in fact made by man. Limited to 75 copies." - C/Site.

Artist: XNO BBQX
Title: Alpha-Gal
Format: Cass
Label: C/Site
Country: USA
Price: $5.50
“xNOBBQx is a nearly impossible band to pin down. For over a decade they have been making a racket down in the Southern Hemisphere. Their earliest output, like their Siltbreeze released long-player, Sunshine Of Your Love, has a frantic element, everything in the red, and nothing but wild, recklessness. Though Nick Dan still bashes the drums, and Matthew Earle still hums, thuds, and buzzes the guitar, more recent releases have seen the band refine the sound into more hypnotic, albeit divisive, tunes. And perhaps divisive is the word for their style of music; for every possible melody the listener thinks they have discovered the clang-and-smack of the next moment erases it as quickly as it appeared. And for every possible point of reference the listener elicits, an abrupt conclusion wipes away the very notion of influence. xNOBBQx are a stunning band, who have captured audiences around the globe with their unique take on rock music. C/Site is very proud to bring a rare stateside release, not to mention the bands first since 2014. Ready yourself for the 46-minute journey of Alpha-Gal, in all its tape warbled goodness.” - C/Site.

Artist: XWAVE
Title: s/t
Format: Cass
Label: C/Site
Country: USA
Price: $5.50
"Unadulterated dirge, scuzz, and weirdness from members of XNoBBQX, Sun of the Seventh Sister, Love Chants and an endless list of others. XWave continues the thug punk tradition from Australia – harnessing the attitude of bands like feedtime and 3 Toed Sloth, while adding their own notions of noise, improvisation and ineptitude. At times reminiscent of Japanese Minor scene acts like Kousokuya or Gaseneta, and even bringing to mind the chopped electronics of Lighthouse-era Shadow Ring (although that comparison tends to end abruptly with a barbaric thud on the floor tom to cue another fuzzed out bass line). Punishing, menacing and unkind, for over a decade XWave has abused strings and skins alike – pounding out a nervous breakdown, just as much as they shout about it. Limited to 75 copies." -C/Site.
