Title: Polaroid/Roman/Photo - 25th Anniversary Deluxe Special Edition
Format: LP
Label: Angular
Country: UK
Price: $32.00
"After the acclaim and success of the Cold Waves and Minimal Electronics compilation earlier this year, Angular is proud to announce the release of a 25th Anniversary Deluxe Special Edition reissue from one of the artists featured on this collection. RUTHs "Polaroid/Roman/Photo" was consistently noted as one of the standout tracks from the comp, which received glowing reviews across the board. This wasnt the case the first time around though. Originally released on Paris Records in 1985 Ruths LP sold just 50 copies and was relegated to obscurity until the track "Polaroid/Roman/Photo" started appearing on bootlegs and compilations in the early 00s, slowly becoming the cult synth pop classic it is nowadays. An original copy goes for upwards of #300 on eBay and Ruth are a shining light from an oft forgotten music scene that is becoming increasingly influential today. Ruth was the brainchild of THIERRY MULLER, a photographer and graphic artist from Paris who drew his inspiration from bands and artists like Brian Eno, Stockhausen, Pere Ubu, Neu, Velvet Underground and Kraftwerk. In the late 70s he began to work on Ruth, releasing the lone album Polaroid/Roman/Photo in 1985. The line up of Ruth was collaborative and fluid, brass mingles with prototype drum machines, and squalling experimentation sits alongside sultry French girls across 40 minutes of edgy pop innovation that sounds remarkably undated alongside contemporary pop music. This deluxe limited edition comes in a gatefold sleeve on transparent scarlet vinyl, and features a 12-page booklet of lyrics and photos and download codes for a digital version of the album which includes six bonus tracks." - Angular.

Title: Wierd Presents: Cold Waves & Minimal Electronics Vol. 1
Format: Double LP
Label: Angular
Country: UK
Price: $30.00
"Angular Records (UK) are proud to announce the release of Cold Waves and Minimal Electronics Vol.1-a new seventeen-track compilation put together by New Yorks Wierd Records founder PIETER SCHOOLWERTH and Angulars JOE DANIEL. The album chronicles the secret underground cult genres of cold wave and minimal wave, which mostly originated from continental Europe between the years 1981-1985. Active largely in small towns and isolated, non-metropolitan areas of France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, and The Netherlands, the first wave of minimal electronic groups functioned at the time as a raw, aggressive, affirmative antidote to the superficial excesses of commercial new wave. Using analog synthesizers, sequencers, and drum machines the minimal synth artists successfully combined the sounds of the German electronic bands of the 60s and 70s (Amon Duul, Neu, Faust, Can) with the seminal early industrial bands largely active in the UK (Throbbing Gristle, SPK, Cabaret Voltaire) to produce a new form of electropop that went on to be crucially influential on European and American pop and dance music of the late 80s and early 90s (Italo, New Beat, EBM). Features songs that have only been available up to now on ultra rare 7-inches, lost radio sessions and cassette tapes, as well as never before seen photos and extensive sleeve notes about the genre." - Angular.

Artist: WETDOG
Title: Enterprise Reversal
Format: LP
Label: Angular
Country: UK
Price: $29.00
"The debut album from WETDOG. "Wetdog will not be seen in some bar in Dalston pretending to like Italo Disco. Sarah will be at home, crying and listening to Morrissey. Rivka farms a tortoise and chickens in the Kent countryside. Billy lives in Arsenal and likes lego. Together, they form a triad of female energy vibes not seen since Wilson Phillips. The band have an affinity with Welsh genius, counting Datblygu and Euros Childs amongst their influences (there are hints of pastoral climes in the melodies), but The Wicker Man, Jeremy Kyle, Syd Barrett and Robert Crumb are just as likely to feature in any album-related discussions. Rivka Gillieron (guitar, vox), Sarah Datblygu (drums, vox) and Billy Easter (bass, vox) agree on one thing - hard and sparse music contrasting with vocal harmonies. Astringent, atonal guitars, off-key harmonies, squealed screechy vocals, a style of playing that could at best be described as optimistic... really, it needs no qualification. Anti-rock. Anti-stadium. Anti-commercial. Anti-glamour." Twenty-two tracks pressed on moss-colored green vinyl. UK import." -Angular
