Artist: I SAW IT ALL HAPPEN FROM BEGINNING TO END..
Title: Life Everlasting, Amen
Format: CD
Label: Firework Editions
Country: Sweden
Price: $13.00
""I Saw it All Happen from Beginning to End and I still Cant Believe What I Saw" are Jeff Sedgley, from Brighton, England, and The UK Ambassador of Elgaland-Vargaland. The piece is a comment on the state of the health of the world. We are sick and we know it, but are helpless to act, as technology removes our potency and undermines our responsibility and our ability to make critical judgements. The listener/viewer is presented with a recording of a life support machine and its relentless quest to keep the patient alive and in doing so becomes part of that patient, attached by tubes through which the fluids of life pass, pumped by a metal heart into one made of human tissue. This symbiotic relationship is a metaphor for the relationship between nature (or organic life) and science (or inorganic). When is the patient of nature or of science? At what point are we becoming less than human and more a part of the machine? The recording from which this CD is taken is over 6 hours long; it was mixed and mastered at Thors Place, Brighton, England on November 18th 1999. The original version was recorded in England and mixed in Stockholm in 1998 - with thanks to Andreas Karperyd. The full length version was played live on an octophonic audio system throughout the day as part of Sonic SeaAir in Brighton, May 1999. " - Firework Editions.

Artist: I.U.D.
Title: The Proper Sex
Format: LP
Label: Social Registry
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"The Social Registry is proud to break your bones with I.U.D. -- Lizzi Bougatsos of Gang Gang Dances (vocals, percussion) new project. Teaming with Sadie Laska of Growing and Extreme Violence (the duo is known here as Mr. Egglesby and Lil Pickle -- they have different names for each release), The Proper Sex is a downright brutal industrial clusterfuck thats sure to fog the glasses of experimental music nerds and provide the catalyst for many a record store argument. Put The Boredoms, Einstürzende Neubauten, Meat Beat Manifesto, Tribe 8, Front 242 and some black metal tropes in a blender and then serve chilled at a party hosted by hyper-feminist vampires and youre getting close to the sound on this one. Recorded at Vacation Island Studios by Matt Boyton AKA Professor Funkenstein, The Proper Sex is creepy, relentless and (most of all) extremely fascinating. Its a varied listen that reflects its influences and cover art -- which mimics Sparks -- to a stunning effect. Like Gang Gang Dance, these rhythms are already cemented in a listeners head. Its just that this journey might be a descent into the inferno rather than up to the heavens. Includes poster of a naked horse-woman." -Social Registry

Artist: I.U.D./BLACK LODGE
Title: S/T
Format: Cass
Label: Trilogy
Country: UK
Price: $12.00
"Poitiers is a town on the Clain River in West Central France. Lots of Visigoths used to live in Poitiers. It is currently home to a permanently stoned gallery called Le Comfort Moderne - a sort of non-profit space for Art and Music, complete with Zine Biblioteque, record shop, bar, and couscous restaurant. A wonderful place that could only exist in a town in Northern Europe. A place that trusts its citizens to take two and a half hours for lunch, get pissed, and make it back to work. It is only a place such as this that an improbable show like Black Lodge / I.U.D. could take place. Or that Black Lodge could come across a first (and only) edition print of Celines highly controversial pamphlet Bagatelles pour un massacre amongst compilation DVDs of interviews with the author. Although, despite the modest asking price of 150 euros, the book remains in the shop. 1 of every 3 people in Poitiers is under the age of 30, and 1 of every 4 people in Poitiers is a student. It has more students per inhabitant than any other city in France. There are more than 27000 of them. Surprisingly few of these students seemed to be at the show. There were two bedreadlocked crust-punks though. They wrote Squat Le Monde! on the toilet wall. They must have been either delighted or appalled to see Black Lodge lay two copies of Shaved Women Collaborators by Crass on three decks, each 7" with bits of sellotape on... I couldnt tell... a tone, a pulse, followed by a warning ("shaved women, collaborators!"). The collaborators in question were I.U.D. The alliance was formed, probably hours previously over couscous and beer. I.U.D. were billed to play separately, following Black Lodge, but given the overall nature of the event, playing together was instantly deemed preferable and appropriate. This recording is the result. At parts, it was as if a mosh pit had been digitally removed from the room." -Oliver Payne

Artist: IA-BATISTE
Title: Un Gran Dia
Format: LP/7"
Label: Wah Wah
Country: Spain
Price: $32.00
"Key duo from the catalan folk scene, result of the union between Ia Clua (from "2+1") and Jordi Batiste (one of the leading forces of Máquina! together with Enric Herrera), after thelater ones return from military service. "Un Gran Día".the duos first album, was recorded at the end of 1972 with the help of such outstanding musicians as Manel Joseph (ex "2+1", Ias early band)), Joaquín "Max" Suñer (Vértice, Tapimán, Iceberg y a neverding etc ) & Albert Batiste(Musica Dispersa). The result is an amazing & varied musical tapestry, best heard in the records first side, a long suite covering from orchestral folk-pop with some psych leanings ("Un Gran Día","Max") to straight in-your-face  hard rock ("Sleeping Rock") via typicalearly 70s prog rock ("Oliba") or uncathegorisable experiments whichdefy all rules ("Reprise")  and show perfectly the freaky stagereached by the catalan scene in its early years (as a matter of fact, the record is sung in english and catalan...). A piece of wax which went totally unnoticed when first released in a tiny pressing back in the days (thus becoming a big ticket item in the collectors market) and which Wah Wah rescues from oblivionthirty years after its original release. An excellent work which deserves to be discovered by a wider public... Limited issue of 500 numbered copies in gatefold cover reproducing the original artwork, including a colour insert, a colour poster and a bonus 7" single w/ one previously unreleased song." - Wah Wah.

Title: Inter-Dimensional Music
Format: CD
Label: EM
Country: Japan
Price: $24.00
"CD reissue of the 1978 debut LP by the original new age music legend, Iasos. 15 tracks (including 3 bonus tracks) of original analog bliss. It is NOT the typical sounds like average new age music we found throughout the 80s, it is a trippy exotic psych sound having roots in 60s West Coast experimental music. A cornerstone of new age music by real new agers." "l find lasos inter-dimensional music needing new words to describe it. I feel as though I were entering a new world - a new and very profoundly beautiful world." - Buckminster Fuller.

Title: Inter-Dimensional Music

Label: Rotifer
Country: USA
Price: $7.00
"This is the album that began both the legacy of Iasos and the genre of "New Age" Music in 1975. This can be thought of as a sonic journey through a great many realms - from etheric tropical to inter-planetary - great for "consciousness-travelling" via sound. Professionally duplicated on cassette for the first time in over 30 years onto type II, chrome format. Designed for focused listening - definitely not as "background music". R. Buckminster Fuller (in a letter to Iasos): "I find your inter-dimensional music needing new words to describe it. I feel as though I were entering a new world - a new and very profoundly beautiful world." Alan Watts, Metaphysical Philosopher: "Iasos is doing the classical music of the New Age." - Rotifer. Title: Supernova
Format: LP
Label: Wah Wah
Country: Spain
Price: $27.00
"With several connections to the early Kraftwerk history and formed in the Rhineland area in 1971, Ibliss was a quintet formed by percussionist Basil Hammoudi (from Organisation, the band before Kraftwerk), drummer Andreas Hohmann (also from Kraftwerk), brothers Wolfgang and Norbert Büllmeyer (bass and guitar respectively) and Rainer Büchel on sax and flute. With the help of Conny Plank, they recorded their one and only LP at Hamburgs Windrose-Studios: four long instrumental tracks in a hypnotic style that takes cues both from the teutonic motorik style and way-out jazz techniques. Kind of a floating cosmic fusion sound with a great emphasis on the rhythmic section. Another great and unknown album from the jazzier end of krautrock (Kollektiv, Thirsty Moon, Annexus Quam, Embryo, Organistaion?). Strictly limited to 500 copies. Quality pressing. Gatefold cover reproducing artwork from the original Spiegelei issue. Includes insert with pics and information on the band." - Wah Wah.

Title: The Marvel World Of Icarus
Format: LP
Label: Acme
Country: UK
Price: $24.00
"Early 1970s UK progressive mega-rarity. Has all the ingredients to make it a killer underground UK album from the time along with Writing on the Wall, Magic Mixture, Arcadium and others. From those days when they tried to discover a new sound and ways in music. And for that, so many people are interested in this musical period (1968-1973). So here you can find elements of hard rock, psychedelic rock, and progressive rock. A brilliant little gem. Groovy psychedelic DJs must look at this one! Remastered at Third Eye Studios. 180 gram vinyl." -Acme.

Label: Escho
Country: Denmark
Price: $10.00
"As pubic hair shots from young flesh, Iceage crawls out of the underground with the allegation that guitar-drum-bass-vocals-is-rock. The four young (16, 17, 17 and 18 year) gentlemens determination and early awakening has left its mark on their aggressive and high-frequency expression, where something as sincere as great riffs dominate the neo-nihilistic soundscape. The drumming is rough and with songs about holes and broken fingers which is a desperate attempt having an otherwise disjointed world making sense. Copenhagens own punk legend Peter Peter placed the young quartet in a studio one day in June where they together conceived the 7 debut." -Escho

"The brand new parisian label Poutre Apparente is proud to announce the reissue of 90s superb cybernetic electro renewal classic tape from South Corsica band, ICH BIN: Minimal wave beats, broken electronics, radical synthetizer and possessed vocals finely inspired by great philosophical ideas appeared in Europe since the industrial revolution. Colder than the coldest corsican winter, like Kraftwerk meeting Suicide in North Poland. Warehousemen in a secret petrochemical factory in the north of Corsica, the four members of ICH BIN began to play together in 1988 with materials recovered on a failed boat transporting electronic instruments manufactured in Korea. They developed year after year this so particular manner to play and sing probably coming from the physical and mental state of the musicians regularly exposed to a great dose of chemical emanations during their work in factory." - Poutre Apparente.

"This performance is a part of concert series "Japanese Experimental Music 1960s" carried out at Art Tower Mito in Ibaraki. Toshi Ichiyanagi played improvisation on prepared piano and the sound was modulated by live-electronics. However he is a maestro of contemporary music now, his quite non-declined experimentalism is appeared by this great and deep sound. Also painter Sadamasa Motonaga (b.1922, a member of GUTAI) projected abstruct figures to walls of the space. note: This source was recorded at non-shut off gallery space and by general video camera. So please excuse some sound problems and background noise are in this recording." -Omega Point

Title: Opera From The Works of Tadanori Yokoo
Format: 4CD Box Set
Label: Bridge
Country: Japan
Price: $125.00
"Ultra deluxe reissue of this highly desired Japanese underground album from 1969, originally issued as a 2LP picture disc set on The End Record label. Ichiyanagi is the well known Japanese avant garde composer, but here is working in the vein of underground rock & threatrical freakout, performed by Uchida Yuyas group, Flowers. Limited edition reissue of approx 1000 copies, already creating a frenzy throughout the collector universe. Includes: 4 CDs; 24 postcards (Tadanori Yokoos amazing artwork); 2 silkscreened prints of the young composer and a hard cover book of texts & interviews (Japanese text only). Packaged in a beautiful hard cover box designed by Tadanori Yokoo. Note: this was originally issued as a 2LP release and the CD reissue has been done as 1 CD per LP side, to preserve the original listening experience (I guess). So, theres no bonus material here. Its also been transcribed from vinyl, with no digital filtering -- which sounds surprising in this era of digital remastering (the master tapes evidently lost or dysfunctional after 36 years...). Still, an original copy is out of the question and this has never been reissued before, hard to think of in any terms other than: "totally worth it". Good work from the obscure Bridge label from Tokyo." - FE.

Heavy layers of reverbed ring modulators, threaded vocals, melodicas, pianos, violins, gongs and Japanese biwas and shamisens combine to elevate the improvisations into the region of Krautrock and in particular, courtesy of Ranta, into post-Stockhausen-inspired rock à la Amon Düül. An extremely rare and highly important album which paved the way for successors Taj Mahal Travellers and much later, industrial giants Nurse With Wound. "ID Battery is a duo consisting of two of the most interesting working experimental artists from the US west-coast at this time, LOREN CHASSE and BRANDON LABELLE, both of them work solo also... with ID BATTERY, they have released so far some obscure vinyls and CDRs with their very personal image of a kind of "concrete ambience", which mixes low-fi self-recorded found sounds into a music that has very rich details on a microtonal level, thus this could be described as "microscopic music". On "the foot" scraping sounds and soft rumbling drones melt with strange hummings and drones, like in a reciprocal cycle certain elements appear again and again... the whole sounds very earthy and organic in a way, as if you listen to SOMETHING that LIVES underneath.MULTICOLOURED VINYL BASED ON ORANGE, HANDMADE COVER ARTWORK USING ARTWORKED SANDPAPER & PHOTOS. 33 rpm, in a limited first edition of 250 copies." - Drone.

Guaranteed to please half of the listening audience! Id M Theft Able uses electrified glass tables, springs, string bows and tape records to create organic interpretations of digital garbage beauty. This multi-act "mess play" is one of the highlights of his extensive discography. Cave Bears has done everything from smash light bulbs, pour mud across the floor, wear costumes made out of (operating) electric fans and (full) watering cans, and bang on buckets while suspended upside-down from a tree throwing fireworks while singing "Better Git Reddy Fer Judgement". On this record they suspend the Germs "Forming" in a crystallized state for 19 minutes of "just learning how to play our instruments with extra lo-fi slime effect." -Feeding Tube

Title: The Inner Sounds of the Id
Format: Double LP
Label: World In Sound
Country: Germany
Price: $32.00
"The Inner Sounds of the Id album features rock music with Oriental influences, played in various time signatures like 17/8, 20/8, and 7/4 time, as well as straight-ahead blues/rock in 4/4 time. You will hear the rock and roll roots drifting into garage, beat, psychedelic and progressive sounds - powerful and unique - far ahead of its time. The title track, longer than 10 minutes, you will never forget. It is an excursion, introducing the upcoming hypnotic beat and psychedelic sound. A cosmic sitar and meditative vocals intensify the mystical and floating vibrations of music, coming from the Ids inner space. The Beatles with Sgt. Pepper, and also the Rolling Stones with Their Satanic Majesties Request went, little later than The Id, into similar directions. This well-produced stereo 2LP set contains extended musician information, (a second LP) contains 10 bonus tracks with outtakes from the album recording sessions. This is an ultimately rewarding listening experience on the highest level of creativity and musicianship." - World In Sound.

"Idealized field recordings that capture the hallucinatory isolation of an abandoned arctic base. Anti-Natural combines organic mechanistic processes into an aesthetic whole. Both severe and opulent, naïve and self-confident, Anti-Natural offers an escape route from the false dichotomies of man/nature and man/machine and attempts the transcendence of the impossible. Electronic recreations of the world around us, both real and imagined, foment immutable revolutions in sound." - Swill Radio.

"During my last visit to the states, about 2 years ago, one of the highlights was definitely a night long visit to Scott Fousts house! John Shaw took us there and explained from before what it was gonna be like; we would be seated down in a comfortable couch while the last great man would stand up next to a pedestal with some quality whiskey, dope and cigarettes on it, sporting a mono-coloured suit and sunglasses (day and night) while Foust is telling stories about different art records, and mainly his own work, ranging from short films, visual work and audio since 1978! It was exactly how Shaw explained it. I was blown away by the honesty and the effort him and his ladyfriend Karla Borecki put into their work, and how little response they get to it. We shared a common interest in arrogant pop quality, and especially the situationists, to which he relates his work to in only aesthetic way! I think it is a quality in people when you cant divide their work with their persona; Idea Fire Company is a collective of people that definitely swing that robe! Beautiful carpets of radio bleebs and static, piano (Karla Borecki is a trained pianist) and almost kraut-like synth ambience. Comes in a mono coloured sleeve full of dots by Dennis Tyfus, and comes with an insert. Limited to 300 copies." - Ultra Eczema

Title: Island of Taste, The
Format: LP
Label: Swill Radio
Country: USA
Price: $20.00
"IFCO follows up our highly ignored Stranded LP with an equally, if not more so, strong statement. Core members Karla Borecky and Scott Foust are joined by an all-star cast: Meara OReilly and Jessi Leigh Swenson from Stranded, as well as Frans de Waard, Graham Lambkin, and Dr. Timothy Shortell. The Island Of Taste depicts a manoeuvre in which the beauty becomes more beautiful as the desperation becomes more desperate. A stark and romantic mission to the rocks. Lavish package featuring an excellent Karla cover painting as well as a booklet presented as a set of 5 x 7 art cards with another Karla painting, band photos, and an essay of mine. Perhaps The Island Of Taste is the first LP to make explicit a certain nostalgia for itself. Along with The Shadow Rings Swill Radio trilogy (Lighthouse, Lindus, Im Some Songs), Id put IFCOs trilogy (Anti-Natural, Stranded, The Island Of Taste) up against anyones three LP run."-Swill Radio.

Price: $12.00
"Lessons About History is a brand new weapon in the Swill Radio umbrella. LAH will specialize in digital objects of live and studio performances culled from the Swill Radio archives presented to the public for the first time. The exceptional musical interest and historical value of these recordings should help the listener shed some light on the vast and mysterious world of Swill Radio. The series begins with a legendary IFCO radio show from 1999 with Karla and me joined by Graham Lambkin. This was our second show with Graham, the first being earlier in the day at the then-nascent Flywheel in Easthampton MA. (The Hardest Working Band In Rock!) We all worked together so well that it wasnt long before Tart was formed, but thats another story. This set showcases IFCO at its most languid, spacey, and electronic. Ill-fitting machine dreams. Excellent recording straight from the radio feed. A gorgeous representation of IFCO live during our Anti-Natural period. Professionally printed CDRs in full colour jackets." -Lessons About History

Title: Music From The Impossible Salon
Format: LP
Label: Kye
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"For the past 25 years, New Englands Idea Fire Company (IFCO) have positioned themselves at the frontline in the ageless battle for aesthetic purity. Founded by the enigmatic duo of Scott Foust (aka The Commander, aka The Last Great Man) and Karla Borecky, IFCO have built up a bulletproof discography, with each release refining the sound of its predecessor. They have been well served at home through their own Swill Radio imprint, and internationally, by Rund Um Den Watzmann, Entracte and, most recently, Ultra Eczema, who published the outstanding Beauty School LP. Music From The Impossible Salon finds the IFCO sound honed into eight elegant settings that variously combine piano, synth, radio, trombone, organ, gong and voice. Using minimal, yet striking gestures, Music From The Impossible Salon reveals itself to be a dusky pleasure center, where the jaded listener can find discreet interuption from the horrors of the day. Recorded at Wunderwaffen Studios, Nov/Dec 2010, and expertly mastered by Grammy-nominated producer Zupe, Music From The Impossible Salon allows the raw essence of IFCO to ring out like never before. Housed in a Foust/Borecky designed sleeve, the "charming phenomenon" that is Music From The Impossible Salon is now ready to greet its audience." - KYE.

Postcards is a reworking of a cassette originally released by No Basement Is Deep Enough in 2011. Re-ordered, remixed, remade, and remodeled Postcards presents a more charming atmosphere than Music From The Impossible Salons (Kye) stark melancholy. There is still plenty of piano and sad scenarios, but there are also flights of electronic fancy. Eight imaginary impressionistic portraits of cities we have never been to. Karla Borecky and Scott Foust. Deluxe edition. 220 g vinyl. Cover painting and artwork by Karla; booklet with highly subjective text by me. Postcards from a past that never existed. "In March 2006, IFCO made their first appearances in Europe. Core members Karla Borecky and Scott Foust linked up with Frans de Waard and hit selected hot spots in The Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. Adding de Waard (Beequeen, Shifts, Kapotte Muziek, Freiband, etc) was a brave gamble that paid off handsomely. Armed with only a tiny digital keyboard (Borecky), a radio/cassette boombox and small echo unit (Foust), and a sawed off MS 20 (de Waard), the trio captivated audiences large and small. On these selected recordings, IFCO exhibit a virile murkiness, an almost desperate muscularity. Warnings from a dwindling outpost. Five tracks, 52 minutes. "Since their inception, Seattles eminently unique noise-benders, IDLE TIMES have enshrouded their unhinged pop dexterity in an entire soiled spectrum of illustrious cloaks, assuring every angle they pursue is leveled with deranged precision. From the instant the lead off track kicks in on their debut LP, its impossible to ignore the bands brainchild, BRIAN STANDEFOD, utilizing an unreal and otherworldly scorching guitar tone, which very well might be what locks you in at first. But on closer listens, its the scraps of distant-yet-familiar sound swatches, seamlessly patched together behind that inimitable guitar and vocal combination that make up the intensely diverse array of songs on their first full-length. Its never been more prominent than on their anxiously-awaited debut LP, where Idle Times are clearly pioneering a sound thats meshing so many degrees of varying styles from track to track, that it becomes easy to get lost in the staggering creativity of each intricate alcove. With such an intense collection of tracks that crush and crackle with deranged delight, Idle Times wield both noisy pop hooks with subdued melodic mastery, and prove that following up Sic Alps/Guided By Voices-style grungy, yet fully jangled scratchy pop hits, with the twang and clang of a fried-out later-era Byrds studio outtake, is truly something fresh and exciting in this never-ending world of recycled ideas and ripped-off innovation. It just doesnt sound like anything else, and as shocking as that may seem, thats most likely why its just so compelling. Initial vinyl pressing of 550 copies." -HoZac

The second happened in Oreno, in June of 2012, after the first concert Ielasi and Jaeger performed together. The first session was a pure analog device improvisation, whereas the second one was more laptop-oriented. Stunning rootsfolk, but played by a lost and unworldly creature. His sound builds further upon his debut album, with the difference that on one of the six tracks he doesnt use any effects. He even sings and talks more and creates his own musical world around it. Title: III
Format: LP
Label: Kraak
Country: Belgium
Price: $18.00
"George Herriman created Ignatz in 1910. It was a vicious mouse in the comic Krazy Kat. Ignatz favourite occupation was throwing bricks at Krazy Kats head, who thought it was a love declaration from the mouse. The Brussels based artist Bram Devens uses Ignatz as his alter-ego for his own pile of bricks. Acoustic songs wrapped with effects and driven by improvisation and spontaneousness. III projects the atmosphere of Jack London and The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog onto a modern world ruled by technology. Devens brings us the most genuine melancholy contemporary pop music has seen since quite some time. This album leaves the underground scenery that is troubled by trends so often far behind and just shows us the pure essence of what Music has to be: raw emotions put to sound. With his third full album Bram Devens has once again amazed us with a masterpiece. In his usual brain-melting retro-futuristic blues folk, he summons the devilish spirits of Bukka White, Robert Pete Williams and Sleepy John Estes as seen through the eyes of an adolescent Lou Reed. III tells a fictive and blurred story about the death of music genres. Tragedies built upon screeching, atonal and repetitive melodies. Smelling like a wet dog or a badly dried towel. III breathes a much more sentimental atmosphere compared to Devens?? previous work because of his grousing voice, that is not unlike Skip James??s. After the closing track ??Dead By noon?, the tormented soul frees the listener from a heavy personal trip and leaves him dazzled. III projects the atmosphere of Jack London and The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog onto a modern world ruled by technology. Devens brings us the most genuine melancholy contemporary pop music has seen since quite some time. Title: Hespherides
Format: LP
Label: Weird Forest
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"This one has been recorded for a while now – I think we finished it around the end of 2010, after starting it early that summer – but its been worth the wait, with Weird Forests usual high standards of presentation and mastering very much in evidence. We took a slightly different appraoch for this one too – instead of our more usual “virtual collaboration” method of sending files back and forward through the e-aether, we based this LP around some pretty intense live jams at a sweaty rehearsal space in Leeds. Of course we then took them apart and rebuilt them using our more regular method, but hopefully the sense of live abandon is there underneath it all." - Neil Campbell.

"Iibiis Rooge is the high-powered collaboration of Neil Campbell (Astral Social Club, Vibracathedral Orchestra and A Band) and High Wolf (releases on Holy Mountain, Not Not Fun, and his own Winged Sun label). Their new album, Hespherides, is a welcome development in the duos trajectory, with its immersive propulsion more refined and synthesized than their 2009 self-titled debut. That earlier effort showcased the possibilities and capacities of the two artists collaborative spirit, each track exploring the individual aspects of a shared sense of sound with discernible cues from either Campbells or High Wolfs discography. In contrast, Hespherides is a meticulously sculpted document that embraces a total sound -- one that denies prominence of each contributor by melding the psychic duality of the pair. Shifting industrialized ethno-polyrhythmic structures are transformed by droning, blissed-out textural threads that seamlessly coexist and contradict one another; Through two side-long process-driven mechanical meditations, a shared space is constructed, one that satiates anyone willing to gorge on the global, post-acid house, rainbow hypnotism that is Iibiis Rooge." - Weird Forest.

Format: LP
Label: Dekorder
Country: Germany
Price: $16.00
"Iibiis Rooge is the new superastral duo team bringing together the mysterious High Wolf (Not Not Fun Records, Winged Sun) with the seminal talents of Mr. Neil Campbell, better known these days as Astral Social Club (Fat Cat, VHF, Qbico, Important, Textile, Bottrop-Boy and countless other labels around the globe) and (ex-) member of Vibracathedral Orchestra, A-Band, and other obscure/legendary outfits. The new self-titled LP is the debut album of the band (dont call it "project") combining modern psychedelic High Wolf jams with the fucked up yet refined electronics and techno-infused beat choppery of the Astral Social Club - the result being a lot more then you might have expected from the two, transcending their combined talents into a multicoloured supernova. The strength of the album is an unexpected pop sensibility and airiness, while still being tighter and more consolidated than their regular solo outfits. Even the noisier elements are embedded in loose song structures with a carnivalesque air dominating the whole atmosphere. While the duos solo outings are often camouflaging any melodies in oodles of electronic noises or lo-fi psych jams and hiss this is a fairly different affair with simple melodic textures always dominating the four tracks. The defibration of structures is still apparent but the music is constantly pulling itself together again. Where the Astral Social Club is sometimes willingly losing himself in electronic soundscapes and the High Wolfs short & sketchy songs are rarely fully formulated by nature, all the positive aspects of their respective works are combined and complemented in Iibiis Rooge. These gentlemen are the perfect match. A visible proof that (musical) online dating can be a highly prosperous activity." -Dekorder

Title: 1980-82 Collected
Format: CD
Label: Acute
Country: USA
Price: $13.50
"Influenced by their punk upbringing, avant-garde schooling, and no wave surroundings in early 80s NYC, Ike Yard managed to create a new sound by also tapping into equal parts the krautrock experimentation of Can, the Neue Deutsche Welle of DAF and the UK post-punk dub of PiL and Joy Division. This combination helped them to create sound and songs unique enough to catch the attention of Factory Records, who made them their first American signing. What really set Ike Yard apart were their cutting edge techniques. The mixing board and effects processors were as important as the bass, synth or occasional guitar, giving Ike Yard an aggressive and propulsive sound, where drum machines beat against the sound of scrap metal and angular guitar slashes dart through arpeggiated synth patterns. Acute Records released on 1980-82 Collected collects, for the first time, Ike Yards two releases (their Factory LP and an EP for Les Disques di Crepuscule) plus several previously unreleased tracks." - Acute.

"Iko was a minimal/synth/wave outfit from Canada. The most notable release by the band is their LP simply titled 83, which was released on a small Canadian disco label called Manhattan-Formula. Not much is known about the group due to little information in their record sleeves and little to no traces of information about the label they released on. Anyway, this is one of the most unknown yet amazing creations in the entire history of minimal wave and electronic music. Lots of simplistic lyrics, abstract and experimental sounds, and at the time, extremely groundbreaking techniques on the synthesizer. Iko is what todays electro artists replicate - Adult being the best example. Their sound is hardly new or unique some 20 years later. A true cult of this genre. "Kenrimono is a type of pachinko machine for advanced players which gives certain privileges during the course of a high-risk game. This LP is entirely based on field recordings and manipulations made from sounds in pachinko parlors in Kansai area, Japan in 2007. A very intense and meditative atmosphere to be played at maximum volume. Active since the early 90s in sound art and image, ILIOS has been exploring the extremes of sound and image derived phenomena. Through constant change in his sound palette touching and surpassing the limits of the sound spectrum he definitely advocates for an anti-career. By 2009 ILIOS has performed more than 170 times in various venues and festivals in Asia, Europe, South and North America, pushing the space and body resistances to a hard test pursuing a state of alert for the human senses. He has done studio and live collaborations with the likes of: Francisco Lopez, Jason Kahn, Keiichiro Shibuya, Mattin, Michael Gendreau, Norbert Möslang, Coti K, Xabier Erkizia (Billy Bao), Julien Ottavi, Bernd Schurer, Ralph Steinbruechel, Takehiro Nishide, Tzesne, Thurston Moore amongst many others. "Thierry Muller -- Ilitchs head -- is the multi-instrumentalist dark experimental French composer who started his musical career with the band Arcane as an underground electronics improvisations outfit around the years 1974. Albums Periodkmintrouble 1978 & 10 suicides 1980 were Ilitch first two works followed by the Ruth pop synth project Polaroid roman photo in 1985. All three are now reissued on CD with many unreleased bonus material by Fractal Records. Well received by many critics today, Ilitch took a solid place in the French underground scene from that area and was a serious source of influence on several groups/artists such as The Legendary Pink Dots for instance. After 24 years, the third and brand new Ilitch album is now released, titled ironically Hors Temps / Out of time and was composed during the last five years. More than a gap, its a generation of sounds in between... and Thierry Muller is at the rendez-vous : a full album in 9 electropopsonics excursions through the time with a pleiade of colored sounds (vocals, guitar, vocals, drums, percussions, farfisa, rhythmic programms, treated piano etc...). >From the mellow pop to the angry waves, Hors Temps / Out of time is a blink at the early hours and a poetic reflexion and vision on life. The music is electronic, experimental, harsh, repetitive, personal and can be compare with Brian Eno, Robert Fripp, Cluster, Conrad Schnitzler, Kraftwerk, Terry Riley, Philip Glass, Heldon, Lard Free. Unfortunately unrecognized in France (even not mention in the booklet introduction of the 3CD Box set French compilation 30 Years Of Musical Insurrection In France 1968-1998 ...!), Ilitch did not fall in the ear of a deaf person, because it is not by accident if Thierry Muller appears on the famous list by Steven Stapleton/Nurse With Wound on Chance meeting... "Dieu has smiled upon us, for a previously shelved early album (1975) by ILITCH finally has its jour in the soleil. THIERRY MULLERs strange musical arc is further enriched and confounded by this exploratory cosmic release. A brilliant mix of Krauty space groans and experimentalism (see also Conrad Schnitzler and Ash Ra Temple, etc) and the progressive electronics of Igor Wakhevitch. There is some psych in the folds, and the album is tripped-out all over. Full of small sounds underneath mystical and shimmering beds of loping electronic waves. It sounds like it was made three galaxies over (isnt that where France is?). Six tracks of deep galactics (or is it a journey through another planets Hell?). One persons Enfer is anothers Ciel. Limited edition of 300 copies." - Beta-Lactam Ring.

Title: Nobody Goes that Way
Format: CDR
Label: Spirit Of Orr
Country: USA
Price: $12.00
"Kevin Moreau, Charlie Schneeweis and John Levin started the Ill Wind Ensemble in 1993. The original band had a shifting line up that included many of the wayward musicians that hung out at McNeils here in Brattleboro VT. By 1994 they had settled down to a quartet, with percussionist Eric Boyer, that would perform together for another seven years. This recording from 1995 documents that quartet as they began to hone their free improvisations into a collective musical language. Using instruments from western, world, and home-made traditions, as well as toys and other found objects, and guided by a shared passion for droning modes, the unpredictable tunings of folk winds and reeds, and careful listening, the group, as Kevin liked to put it, "peeled the paint off the walls" of his Wilder Building studio with sounds like the ones captured on this CD. Originally produced in home-duplicated cassette format and sold only at concerts in a proto-internet and pre-downloadable world, this Spirit of Orr release captures a lost moment in time. Limited to 100 hand assembled copies." - Spirit Of Orr.

Title: See-Saw
Format: LP
Label: All Hands Electric
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"Incorporating elements of blues, country, punk and pop, and with an emphasis on traditional songs, SEE-SAW falls into what Gram Parsons had called ⿿cosmic American music⿝. Accordingly, it lies somewhere between the country-soul of Big Star and the punk spirit of The Wipers. Recorded in a basement on an 8 track reel to reel, and later mixed at Seaside Lounge in Brooklyn, its anthemic yet warmly modest. The drums, though straightforward and minimal, are a solid rallying cry. The bass is both warm and soulful. The guitars are twisted American hybrids, shifting from a bluesy jangle to a dark sound-fix, like Chuck Berry or Tom Verlaine playing to the sound of a jet crashing, or the springs of a clock snapping apart. The piano and organ add cool melodic counterpoints, bringing calm to chaos. The lyrics are spun out of rich phrases, crowded with protagonists that rise and fall on opposite ends of the great fulcrum of luck. Zachary Cales vocal delivery is wrenching, both crooner-like and raw. The end result is an enigmatic album that is both familiar and foreign; one that wears the suit of American rock & roll, but broadcasts anthems from another universe." - All Hands Electric. "Two exclusive tracks that  were specially recorded for this concert release on the 19. September  2002 at the Lagerhaus Bremen. Heartmath is a typical IOS track using found music which mutates into a quiet pulsating soundscape and back to the beginning (ending with a lock groove). Intro/Col de Vence was performed by Thomas Koner in full lenght (60 min.) and in quadrophonic sound at the concert. A beautifully athmospheric track that can be seen as a further progression from his great  Unerforschtes Gebiet pic LP (DS43). Limited edition of 400 numbered  copies." - Die Stadt.

"Bernard Ilous came from a music lovers family, his parents were into jazz and classical music and the young Ilous inherited that sensitivity to the point of teaching himself to play guitar and piano. He discovered R&R and started doing covers of The Beatles and Bob Dylan, but he soon showed skills to write his own compositions. He showed his work to music publisher Gerard Tavernier who signed him to his company and thus some of Ilous songs appeared on LPs by Francoise Hardy, Eric Charden, Johnny Hallyday, Dick Rivers, a.o. In 1969 his friend Claude Putterflam left his job at Vogue to create Flamophone records and he produced a single for Ilous, who was willing to release his own songs by himself. Very soon Ilous joined forces with Patrice Decuyper with whom he would record the amazing LP on offer here. Issued also on Flamophone in July 1971, its blend of folk & pop brings to mind echoes of The Beatles, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young or Joni Mitchell. The sound on the LP is amazing, they took one whole year to produce it, as they were using free studio hours now and then to stay into a budget, and they played most of the guitars and keyboards and were helped by friends from Le Systeme Crapoutchik on other instruments. The production is excellent and the compositions are amazing, probably one of the most impressive French-sung LPs of all time, and a must for lovers of 60s and 70s perfectly arranged & produced, well crafted works. It is reissued on vinyl for the first time since its original release, mastered from the original tapes and featuring a bonus 7" containing the two songs from their 1972 non-LP single plus an insert with liner notes. In a limited edition of only 500 copies, gatefold sleeve." -Wah Wah

Title: Now Again For The First Time
Format: CD
Label: Phon
Country: USA
Price: $12.00
"Intense Molecular Activity worked diligently in the background during the zenith of New York Citys visceral post punk and no wave movements. Recording as a duo, Don Hunerberg and Andy Blinx pain-stakingly wove together their own textured songs and soundscapes from 1979 to 1982. No outsiders to the scene, Hunerberg was a recording engineer at the legendary Radio City Music Hall Recording Studio working with Sonic Youth, the Ramones, Blondie, John Cale, Richard Hell and many others. Blinx was a drummer who also pioneered LED fashion accessories for Patricia Field, Maripol, Grace Jones, Bill Aucoin plus more. While bearing some comparisons to the likes of Suicide, Devo and Gary Numan, IMA looked beyond minimal synth/post punk stylistic trappings and "hosed them down in wetly psychoactive sense deranging treatments" (MUTANTS SOUNDS Blog). IMA left behind only one EP, 4 tracks, on Flexi-Disc in 1980 that was independently produced and then distributed worldwide by 99 Records. The recording has since become a rare and hidden gem for die-hard record collectors around the world. Tracks from the Flexi-disc, and an additional eight from the archives, are heard here, now again for the first time." - Phon.

"In 2008, a triple cassette oddity appeared out of nowhere adorned in washed-out nature collages and zero information. Turns out that John Elliot of Emeralds was behind the madness, and after further dissection of the sounds enclosed, it all began to make sense. Those three tapes (one yellow, one blue, one red) were the first taste of something that felt like a lost private-press object from the early European electronic experimentations of the 60s and 70s. Each vignette is its own story, its own exploration. Synthesizers and other electronics are stripped to their bare bones, never drifting beyond a mere five minutes. Its the brevity that is the guiding hand, though. Every tone and every note is carefully considered and utilized as youre sucked into a world of washed-out colors and sullen landscapes. One thing that immediately stands out with these pieces is just how restrained Elliot is with them. It adds considerable tension, even if its understated, giving the album a surprising amount of emotional depth. Each piece is its own miniature mountain, traversed and left behind all in a matter of minutes. As you interact with the subtlety changing harmonics and tonal shifts, you begin to float away into synthetic dreams. If all bedroom albums were this great, Id never leave the house. A true gem. It doesnt get much better than this. Completely remastered for vinyl by James Plotkin and cut in Berlin by D+M. The deluxe vinyl edition is presented in full-color gatefold jackets with all new art from John Elliot in conjunction with the inimitable Witchbeam. Strictly limited pressing." -Digitalis

"Two ear-jingling, primeval drumtasms: a jerry-rigged version of the Chris Montez classic backed with an original "sci-fi romanticist socialist anthem." Kinetic energy, a chugging beat, and waves of delayed gratification. Classic trembling Teutonic disco-punk, in other words. Dodgy drummer Chris Imler, infamously involved in Spankings and Golden Showers (these are groups) has also previously been associated with work with Puppet Mastaz, Peaches, Namosh, Electronicat as well as being one half of the Driver&Driver duo with Patric Catani, with whom he has toured the world and recently released a double album entitled We Are The World, funnily enough. This year he has also played drums for Soffy O, Die Türen and for Stereo Total in a theatre play. This is not to mention a detour into fine arts with a sound installation with Patric Catani for the Robert Wilson Institute in New York, as well as numerous remixes. Edition of 450." - Pete Um.

Title: Live! In Long Beach (October 30, 1974)
Format: DVD
Label: ID Music
Country: USA
Price: $21.00
"Crazy video documentation (long thought to be lost) of a live show by legendary L.A./South Bay proto-punk unit, The Imperial Dogs. Recorded at Cal State Long Beach the night before Halloween, 1974, fliers for the event promised "an evening of sex, violence, and public outrage," and this 64-minute DVD delivers the goods. Some people may know The Imperial Dogs from the Unchained Maladies LP that Dave Laings Dog Meat Records issued back in 89. A few may even know the 78 single they released through Back Door Man. But neither of those actually prepares you for the amazing visual onslaught of the band. In a year perhaps best remembered for Terry Jacks "Seasons In The Sun," The Imperial Dogs (fronted by wasted, he-man writer, Don Waller) were blasting out originals like "This Aint The Summer Of Love" (later copped by Blue ֹster Cult) and slamming through Velvets covers as though other people on the planet actually cared. The introduction raps are worthy of transcription, the video transfer quality is shockingly good, the sound is great, and the performance is really amazing. Its almost unbelievable that this kind of ruckus was being created in 74, but it was and the evidence is finally available. The package is hep, too. Lotsa good color photos (like Iggy watching The Imperial Dogs playing at Rodneys English Disco -- the only live band there, ever) and thousands of excellent historical words that will place your ass in the ghettos of Long Beach, CA many, many years ago. Really one of the best, least expected slabs of wild history to come down the pike in many a moon. Let us pray a similarly-styled LP will follow before too long. 64 minutes; Mono; black & white; NTSC format, all region; includes a 20-page booklet with notes and rare photos." - ID Music.

"DANCE TRACES is IMPRACTICAL COCKPITs 9th album and its recordings cover the period from 2002 to 2011. While the earlier tracks work up influences of late 70s/early 80s proto industrial (Throbbing Gristle, SPK, Portion Control), IPCPs more recent recordings seem to parallel current developments in electronic dance music like 2 step garage and dubstep. They create a type of minimalist space music that some found danceable, even though its drone qualities were at times syrupy slow and difficult to dance to. Lets call it deconstructed Bedhouse aka the "plunger punk sound of Turned Word". Edition of 150." -Unwucht

Title: Facilidad?
Format: LP
Label: Trd w/d
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"Facilidad? is Impractical Cockpits 7th full length LP since their inception more than 10 years ago in the cold and blustery Minneapolis winter of 1998. After several ??relocation efforts,? the band settled for 6 years in the vibrant port of New Orleans just after the turn of the new millennium, honing in on their signature approach to Noise infused songwriting. Always brewing up their own slog of psychedelic punk the Cockpits have managed to stay true to their all-analog asthetic no matter how difficult this can be on shoe string budgets. After their crew was totally displaced by the horrific events of Hurricane Katrina, the band re-formed in New Orleans in the Spring of 2006 to spend a month writing a new album, unavoidably inspired by the desolate depressed post Katrina landscape. Mountains of molding garbage lined the streets as cats claw and ivy tore through watermarked walls of recently abandoned buildings. The National Guard paced through the streets in armored vehicles, and constant gunshots rang through the thick stillness of decay and toppled over trees. After putting together a live set there, which was to later become this album known as Facilidad?, the Cockpits embarked on a 2 month tour, with a 2 week recording session scheduled right in the middle. Traveling in a home made vegetable oil powered motor home as a 5 piece band, with 2 dogs, and a battery of instruments, they played the album all the way through every night of the tour. The set varied wildly from night to night. The result is this multi-track recording, a culmination of all of their previous efforts summed up in an opus. Balkan informed brass arrangements get smacked to tape alongside the thick improvisational gumbo of triaged hand crafted paper reed horns and drum machines. Plywood gets smashed to shit and an abandoned warehouse stairwell provides an echochamber for choral arrangements complete with barking dog. On the albums closer ??Gurus Plume,? a homemade electric violin gets heavy usage, played in the Northern Louisiana Michot family tuning of EBEB. Shrill reverb drenched vocals are softened by intense but loosely slung rubber band looped keyboards while talismans are shaken is a steel tea cup. Now somewhat disbanded, each member of Impractical Cockpit seems to be digging themselves deeper into whatever sonic obsession they see fit for these crucial times. But thats not to say that this is the last time were likely to hear from Impractical Cockpit." - Trd w/d

In full tripod mode, they cranked out infamous ninety-minute live sets, dragging the irregular out of the standard bass-drums-guitar lineup. "Diaspora tribesmen from the swamp stricken parishes of New Orleans laid this doubly effective soul stroke to tape before the waters rose. The sounds they get burrow to the heart of the matter with reverb tanked slo-mo and urban howl forming a durable disc of genuine interactive musicality. A keeper and a grower. This is the bands umpteenth record and they really stretch out on this record and unfurl. You can hear their patented brand of lethargo Flipper-isms as if from a tunnel down. Also coming through is some noontime yodeling the Kirkwoods perfected on Meat Puppets II, slowed to a chug. Definitely on their own musical plane to be reckoned with." - Load. CD also available.

"Minimal Wave is proud to present a second volume of selections from our French favorites, In Aeternam Vale. Culled from a vast archive of recordings, these tracks were originally self-released on various cassettes by the bands frontman Laurent Prot between 1985-1988. The sound ranges from early EBM/industrial to gristly coldwave to dark reverby guitar psychedelia. This record illustrates the stylistic range that, through experimentation and fearlessness, Laurent Prot and Pascal Aubert were capable of producing. To quote a review from In Aeternam Vales self-titled LP (2009) "All the caustic, lazy, lowbrow/highbrow genius is there and even though the music is still raw, ramshackle and DIY-sounding, its produced and mastered like a motherfucker!. In Trance 95 was formed by Alex Machairas and Nik Veliotis when they were just 18 years old. From its inception, the duo shaped their sound using portable analogue synthesizers and drum machines, becoming one of the first artists in the minimal synth / cold wave / EBM vein to come out of Greece in the 80s. They released two singles, one 12”, and one album as well as appearing on several compilations at the time. Now for the first time ever, songs from their vast archive of unreleased 4-track tape recordings have been made available. Cities Of Steel And Neon features material recorded between 1988-1989: the unreleased 4-track recordings, the highly lauded first single Desire To Desire / Brazilia, and a rare version of 21st Century European Temptation. Shit was totally mysterious.... and the next day, Gabe pulls out his copy of the CDR with this naked dude on it and we put it on... Both of us were totally stunned.. Basically.. it was this CDR by In/Flux called "Hoc-Age." Its total outsider noise if there ever was such a thing.. totally lo-fi and disjointed yelps, guitar skree, lots of unidentifiable things happening... Similar murk to those like The Skaters and Dead C, but the actual identifiable sounds are way different.. maybe something like if the dead C self-titled double disc from a few years back was way more lo-fi and they were super young genderfuckers from canada with a hell of a lot of inspiration and piles of totally shitty gear. "Cryptic Cloak" is a reissue of "Hoc-Age" with additional tracks from the "Metalguests" CDR... (100 copies)" - JYRK.

*Death Message Blues is the powerful new album from UK swamp blues band THE INCA BABIES. Its their sixth album in a career spanning 28 years and marks their full return to live performance after the death of founder member bassist BILL MARTEN. Originally formed in Manchester in 1983 by guitarist and vocalist HARRY STAFFORD and bassist Marten, the band released four albums and recorded four sessions for the BBCs legendary John Peel Show before splitting in 1988. Reuniting in 2007, Stafford and Marten recruited GOLD BLADE drummer ROB HAYNES, but work on the new album was halted by Martens sudden death in 2008.  After a period of reflection, it was decided to complete the work that Marten had begun, with the bands long-time friend VINCE HUNT (A WITNESS, PURE SOUND) taking over on bass. Death Message Blues features twelve new tracks penned by Harry S. casting a net across fast and spiky R&B, swamp blues, bastard country and punk power. Lyrically, the songs observe usual Inca traits of wild characters, ghosts and murderous stories, with reflections too on the passing of Inca founding member, bassist Bill Marten." - Old Skull

If anything, Silver Sea is Saelens weirdest hour, layered in abstract environments, whispers, distant poetry, free percussion loops, with sudden passages of heart-dissolving ghost-piano beauty ("Shine On From The Heaven Above," "Adventure In Light"). Heavily impressive, and a brave pearl-dive into even more personal waters for the INCA ORE lifeforce. LPs come in jackets with art by Saelens, plus a full-color insert. Edition of 500 (40 on clear ocean-water vinyl, 180 on marbled blue/white, 280 on black)." -Not Not Fun

Title: Live at the No Fun Fest 2007
Format: CD
Label: No Fun
Country: USA
Price: $12.00
"Like no other music in this planet, these two Japanese noise masters deliver obsessive, precise and unforgettable live sets of intense electronic harsh beauty. Legendary Japanese noise masters Incapacitants and Pain Jerk performed for the first time ever in the US at No Fun Fest 2007, this CD include crystal clear board recordings of their sets, mastered for full audio brutality. If you havent had the pleasure of experiencing either of this acts live this is your chance, if you have then this is also your chance to re-experience two of the most amazing live performers of our time. Liner notes by Carlos Giffoni and Chris Goudreau (Sickness). Incapacitants began in 1981 as Toshiji Mikawas solo project in Osaka, where Mikawa collaborated with Yamatsuka Eye and others. Later, in Tokyo, Fumio Kosakai became a member, to form the current duo. From the beginning, while the attempt to achieve pure NOISE has been the most important aspect of their sound, they have also been famous for their stage performances, which are so wild they may remind people of pro wrestling matches. This aggressive, energetic style and the beauty of their NOISE are unrivaled. Along with Hijo Kaidan, Merzbow, C.C.C.C., and Solmania, Incapacitants is one of the most well known of the NOISE bands which started out in the early 80s. Because of the members other work (Mikawa is a bank employee, and Kosakai works in a government office) they have rarely toured inside or outside Japan. Pain Jerk is a noise music unit run by Japanese musician Kohei Gomi. Pain Jerk was one of the more prolific and influential noise artists of the 1990s, and is one of the leading figures in the "dynamic" style of Japanese noise, alongside acts such as Merzbow and Kazumoto Endo." -No Fun.

"An incredibly gifted power-pop quintet, The Incredible Kidda Band without a doubt were the most exciting things to come out of Coventry since the Blitz (bombs in the sky, not razors in the night).  Sadly, too much, too little, too late was the fate of the majority of the bands recordings, BUT NOW, thanks to the intervening hand of Last Laugh Records, two of the bands best 1978 recordings are free to sing and spin at the speed at which nature had always intended:  45 rpm!  The A-side - Watch Out Thief - is Thorstein Veblen with a brown-ale pub dance beat or perhaps the Cockney Rejects Badman cast as a mod instead of a skin, while the B-side - You Belong To Me - shows exactly where the Exploding Hearts were lifting 90% of their melodic ideas.  Vintage, top-ranking Great British power pop:  first time at 45 with period appropriate picture sleeve design by Sing Sing Records dynamo Trey Lindsey and utterly essential to your life.  YOU BUY IT!" - Last Laugh.

"Someone maybe should have told Malcolm McLaren when he set out to form the Sex Pistols in 1976 that there already was extant a raunchier, punchier Bay City Rollers and that they werent from London either, but from Coventry.  Melding perfectly everything perfect about the decade - from the glitter rock of Mud and the Rollers to the sing-along-sans-workism choruses of the Clash at their Hoople-est - the Incredible Kidda Band represent the legitimate sound of the British suburban teenage in all its tell-tale trappings (note, both sticks and mustaches brandished threateningly on the swanky single cover).  A double A dose of the finest youth club strands of starry eyed punk and power pop, the first single by the Incredible Kidda Band is very nearly the lyrics to Trevor Whites Crazy Kids fleshed out and come to life.  Very succinctly:  KIDDA BAND RULE OK!" - Collin M.

Title: Black Album + Red Album + Yesterday & Today
Format: Double CD
Label: Lion Productions
Country: USA
Price: $26.00
"In the mid 1960s, Detroit Michigan was a thriving industrial city. It was at the edge of a cliff, however. The great ethnic diversity in the inner city was a brewing powder keg of civil unrest. This, coupled with a disillusioned population struggling to make some sense of a questionable war in the rice paddies of Vietnam, set an uneasy and troubling tempo for the future. Still, there were pockets of communities in the Detroit area where things were good and economic life was vibrant. The Grosse Pointes were such communities. It was on the outskirts of this political and racially tense era, in the affluent suburbs just outside of the city of Detroit, that Index was formed. The music of Index has been lauded by music heads for decades, and with good reason: it is bizarre, atmospheric, and home-made (in the best of all possible ways); the band has a druggie sound, with songs full of feedback and fuzzy guitars, hazy guitar riffs and loud rhythms. Hidden amongst the echoing canyons of sound theres some snotty post-punk attitude wrapped up in that trippy velvet fuzz; a wonderful bleak sound, both droning and murky, the atonal side of late 1960s rock that would leave the most lasting impression on those who would eventually become punk, post-punk and indie rock artists like Joy Division or the Fall. Includes a 32-page booklet, written by Index drummer Jim Valice, detailing the bands rock and roll adventures, replete with photos and lyrics; printed on FSC recycled, chlorine-free, 100% post-consumer fiber paper manufactured using biogas energy." -Lion Productions

Last copies of this official reissue from 2004 of the first Index LP, originally released in 1967. All copies have a certain amount of edge-warp (as expected, I guess) and are sold as is. "Much has been written about this incredible band. Much of it isnt true. I want to set the record straight. Index was formed in the early spring of 1967 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. I was 18 years old when I met a chain-smoking 16-year-old named Gary Francis. Our conversation soon got around to rock and roll. He told me that he and his friend, John Ford, were forming a band. I told him that I played drums and we arranged a jam session at Johns home on Lakeshore Drive. Our first meeting was incredible. Our sound was full and powerful. Johns lead guitar techniques were fresh and innovative. After our first sessions we knew we had something special. Index was born. Soon we hit the local sock hop circuit, playing at high schools and teen clubs in the area. We poured our unique sound out at The Hideout, Undercroft and G.P. War Memorial every weekend. One afternoon John pulled out a new album he had been listening to. It was a new band with a mind-shattering sound called The Jimi Hendrix Experience. John played some songs he had written inspired by this psychedelic sound. Over the next few days, Fire Eyes, Shock Wave and Feedback were written. This album was recorded in December of 1967 at the Ford estate. It is recorded in mono sound with literally one microphone and with all instruments and vocals recorded at the same time. The cover photo is of Orpheus and Bacus, founders of a singing group John joined at Yale. The stiff, board-like figures seem to characterize the exact opposite of this musical collection. This reissue is taken from the original recordings. Nothing has been added and all songs are in their original length. Over the years various bootleg copies of this album have surfaced but this is the original work." -Jim Valice.

Format: LP

Price: $13.00
"Houston, Texas based INDIAN JEWELRY are on a roll. Last years "Free Gold" album blew many minds and was the best document to that point of their mastery of the aural psychic-swirl. Their side-long contribution to this split EP highlights what they do best...combining uncanny songcraft with insistent, pulsing and throbbing layers of sound. With "Zing Zang" its as if they are leading a pied piper-like caravan through the countryside, picking up joyful followers along the way (zing) while sternly pointing out the hazards of following (zang). Its the sound of a band confidently striding off in their own direction, which is an all too rare thing these days. Fellow Houstonians FUTURE BLONDES (Domokos of RUSTED SHUTs side project) occupy the "other side" of this record in more ways than one. Their "Heartless" is a relentless piece of dark, hypnotic electro-spuzz that isnt going to fill anyone with anything resembling hope for the human race. Not so much music made for the denizens of the dance floor but more like a soundtrack for the detritus left on the dance floor after everyone has gone home. Limited to 525 copies." - Dull Knife.

Artist: INDIGNANT SENILITY
Title: Consecration Of The Whipstain
Format: Double LP
Label: Type
Country: UK
Price: $25.00
"Pat Mahers outsider sounds have emerged in many different forms; the syrup-laced rap remixes of DJ Yo-Yo Dieting, the ketamine house of Diamond Catalog and of course the wheezing industrial ambience of Indignant Senility. Consecration Of The Whipstain is Mahers second widely-available album under the Indignant Senility moniker, and its long-form abstractions place him a step apart from his peers. Where Plays Wagner took a selection of thrift store charity records as source material, Consecration... works with a wider palette and sees Maher roughly paste together clattering percussion, wretching environmental sounds, opium drones and much more to emerge with a sound that owes more to Iannis Xenakis and Lustmord than to the contemporary set. Mahers noise roots have always given him a rougher, more abstract edge than others in the genre, but this album finds his shadowy ambience chiseled into four pitch-perfect explorations of his very particular alternate timeline. Recorded through amplifiers and microphones to give the music a chance to "breathe," the fuzzy pictures slowly come to life and offer a shocking amount of depth and variety. At times it sounds like a decaying sound strip from a 30s suspense reel, with all the crackle and flicker youd expect to come alongside that. Mahers sounds take us into places we might not want to go, but theres no denying that once youre there its hard to wrench yourself free. Deluxe vinyl edition, cut at Dubplates And Mastering, Berlin." -Type

Title: Plays Wagner Part Two
Format: LP
Label: Type
Country: UK
Price: $19.00
"This is the second in a series of two strictly-limited vinyl editions of Plays Wagner by Portland, Oregons Pat Maherr. This recording under his Indignant Senility moniker first appeared as a very limited cassette on Maherrs own label in 2009, but as soon as it landed at the Type offices, they knew it needed to reach a wider audience. Using a handful of dusty Wagner pieces (no doubt scored from one of Portland, Oregons many thrift stores), he has stretched and distorted the hallowed tones into something indescribably dark and beautiful. Like David Lynchs peerless Eraserhead soundtrack before it, this is music that sounds as if you are being dragged through rusted pipes and hearing the distant swell of broken gramophones playing in unison. Maherr has created music that is at all times exquisite but deeply disturbing. Like Leyland Kirby or even William Basinski, there is a sense of harmony, nostalgia and restraint in the layers of hiss, grit and noise. It is only very rarely you hear something as pure and enveloping as Plays Wagner. Having mastered this from cassette tape, Type has retained all the decomposing grime experienced on the original version (which was dubbed to aging, heavily-used C90 cassettes), but have beefed it up for public consumption. The best way to absorb an album like this is to place the needle and simply slip away into a deep, nightmarish slumber. Just keep your eye on the radiator -- who knows what might happen. Cut at Berlins Dubplates and Mastering." -Type

Title: Indoor Life
Format: Double CD
Label: Compost
Country: Germany
Price: $21.00
"Discover one of the last U.S. cult bands from the creative early 80s disco and post-punk period. Indoor Life -- an undisputed delightful blend of rock, new wave and hypnotic grooves, at that time often compared and collated with Tuxedomoon. Their first EP from 1980 was recorded by the legendary producer Patrick Cowley. The four piece consisting of J.A. Deane, Bob Hoffnarr, Joseph Sabella and former Patrick Cowley collaborator Jorge Socarras (who has recently formed the duo Fanatico together with Mathias Schaffhäuser) was the epitome of New Yorks flourishing underground scene in the early 1980s. Indoor Life gave a strong impetus to Europes electronic music scene of the 1980s. Their records were released on their own Indoor Life imprint and renowned labels like Celluloid, Elektra and Relativity. On two CDs, Elaste Records and Compost "Curated" Records release the complete Indoor Life catalog. CD1 contains their debut EP Indoor Life and the first self-titled album. CD2 comes with the EPs Relativity, Searching and Sunshine Superman, plus alternative mixes, bonus and remix recordings (six of them previously-unreleased). All material has been digitalized, re-mastered from original reels or vinyl, and includes previously-unreleased bonus tracks and remixes by Soft Rocks, Quaid, Mathias Schaffhäuser, Discodromo, and more. More remixes will follow on vinyl. The CD artwork and poster were designed by Thomas Elsner in conjunction with Michael Reinboth, founder and publisher of the legendary magazine Elaste (1980-1985). The 2CD set contains a poster with photos, quotes and liner notes by Thomas Meinecke (FSK/Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle), Bruce Geduldig (Tuxedomoon), Jon Hassell (Fourth World), Stuart Matthewman (Sade), Finn Johansson (Macro Recordings), Mike Thorne (producer for Wire, Soft Cell, Nina Hagen, Bronski Beat, Siouxsie And The Banshees, and Laurie Anderson, amongst others)." - Compost.

"Infinite Livez (born 1972 in Bethnal Green, East London) is an MC and musician who studied at Chelsea Art College. His wide range of influences comes from such diverse sources as P-Funk, Surrealism and continental philosophy. His first album Bush Meat was released on Big Dada Records in 2004 to immediate critical acclaim in the UK and abroad. 2007 saw the release of his second album Art Brut fe de Yoot, also on Big Dada, and a collaborative project with the Swiss electro-jazz outfit, Stade. Recorded over a series of improvised sessions, it has been recognized as a unique achievement in both experimental hip-hop and wacky humor. The follow-up album to Art Brut fe de Yoot, entitled Morgan Freemans Psychedelic Semen, was released in 2008. At the beginning of 2009, the live album Live at La Guinguette, again recorded with Stade and guest vocalist Joy Frempong, came out of a residency in Geneva. Infinite Livez has performed in the UK and all over Europe, including events such as Montreux Jazz, the North Sea Jazz Festival and The Sonar Festival. Besides Stade and Joy Frempong, Infinite has worked with a wide range of other producers and musicians including David Murray, Jahcoozi, Nils Petter Molvar, Elliott Sharp and Kid Acne. He has supported artists such as Kool Keith, Anti Pop Consortium, MF Doom and Mulatu Astatke. As a visual artist, Infinite Livez has also worked on a variety of other projects, like making comic books, animations, prints and illustrations (for magazines such as Hip Hop Connection and The Wire). In July 2009, Infinite had his first solo exhibition, Salvador Dali Was Half Bengali at Pebbledash Gallery in London where he presented a series of madly surrealist silkscreens referencing the aesthetics of old-school comics, Japanese woodcuts and Hans Bellmer. In September 2009, he took part in the group show 7 Styles for 7 Brothers at Archipelago Art, Sheffield. Recently, Infinite launched Glorious Mono, his own weekly 1 hour radio show on Herbstradio 99.1 FM in Berlin." -The Tapeworm.

Country: USA
Price: $14.00
"New York snyth duo Infinity Window have been crafting their game for well over a year without much documentation. Comprised of Dan Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never) and Taylor Richardson (Prehistoric Blackout), this LP shows them at the pinnacle of self-realization. Equally influenced by John Carpenter and the Taj Mahal Travelers, they create traveling music; music that has the power to transport and overwhelm the listener with vibes outside of those presently available to them. The A Side consists of two tracks, both clouded in a heavy haze of fog, dark and heavy though their clarity exists underneath the shroud. The B Sides lone track "Skull Theft" is the full circle realization of the first two tracks: a light is illuminated and the fog begins to clear. Mastered by Keith Fullerton Whitman." -Arbor. Artist: INFORMATICS
Title: Dance to a Dangerous Beat
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"INFORMATICS were a post-punk electronic band from Melbourne, Australia formed in 1981. MICHAEL TRUDGEON, VALEK SADOVCHIKOFF, STEVE ADAM and RAMESH AYYAR  met in the experimental sound studio while attending the same art school. PHILIP MCKELLAR later joined the band in 1983. Between 1981 and 1985, Informatics recorded numerous tracks, mainly in a garage, using a four-track tape machine and any electronic gear they could get their hands on. The band held a fascination for contemporary visual art and moving images and videos would accompany their live performances. The production elements in the videos reflected Informatics philosophy on sound composition: the footage was entirely pirated from television ads, manipulated and then collaged to create new narratives that reinforced the music. Between January and November 1981 the band recorded their debut 4 song Dezinformatzia EP but it was not released until 1983 . The track "Proximity Switch", later renamed "Accidents in Paradise" became popular in parts of Europe and was re-released in 1985. Dance To A Dangerous Beat collects all 4 songs from the first EP, 2 songs from compilation appearances as well as 6 unreleased tracks on vinyl for the first time. Informatics early songs have a brittle, cold, disconnected feel made by a Roland SH-101, Korg MS-20 and a lot of processed guitar. The later songs utilize newer technology and ambient, synthesized melodies closer to their country mates Severed Heads. All songs have been transferred from the master tapes by Informatics and remastered for vinyl by GEORGE HORN at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in a full color printed jacket using the original magenta and grey artwork from Dezinformatzia EP. Each LP includes a double sized 11x11 insert with photographs and liner notes by the band. Dance To A Dangerous Beat recounts the history of these synthpunk pioneers a world away from their contemporaries in America." - Permanent.

Title: Vehicle
Format: 12"
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $12.00
"Dark Entries is proud to release the debut EP “Vehicle” from San Francisco based synth trio INHALT. Consisting of European and East Coast natives– Matia Simovich, Bryan Gibbs, and Philip Winiger– INHALT’s core operative strategy is of sonic fidelity and integrity rather than nostalgia. Having experienced the downfall of the music industry and professional studio system while working at Asphodel Records/Recombinant Media Labs, INHALT needed to create their own creative working environment. Thus, they designed and built The Bunker Studio, developed around an integrative ideology and employing the best of vintage and modern technologies and techniques. Here, they’ve honed their sound–sometimes referential to the raw electronics of Kraftwerk or the drive of Moroder disco–but ultimately their own interpretation of the border between the past and the present. What started with the split 12″ for Andy Blakes’ World Unknown imprint now continues with the “Vehicle” EP, where the brutality of the analogue transistor rhythm section meets the sincerity of the human voice.
All tracks were written, produced and mixed by the band at The Bunker Studio, San Francisco, California between 2009 and 2011. Everything was recorded to a 24 track 2 inch reel to reel tape machine and mixed down to a 2 track 1/4 inch tape. The tracks were then mastered by Paul Lavigne in London, England at Walls of Sound Mastering. All songs have been EQed for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA. Each LP includes a special two-sided tabbed cardstock insert." -Dark Entries.

Price: $28.00
"The Inner Space is the stuff of legend. This obscure outfit is best known as the antecessor band of Can and not much is known about them except it featured the core members of Can (Irmin Schmidt, Holger Czukay, Michael Karoli and Jaki Liebezeit) and lasted just a few months before renaming themselves The Can and releasing Monster Movie. They left two ultra-obscure seven inches as their only recorded legacy and only the first of them is credited to The Inner Space, it contained two songs taken from the soundtrack of 1969s underground film Agilok & Blubbo. Originally released by the German Vogue label in 1969, it currently fetches prices around the 300 euro mark in the collectors circuit. Given the obscurity of both the band and its recorded output, were proud to present, for the first time to the public, not only the aforementioned singles but the complete soundtrack to Peter F. Scheneiders offbeat political satire Agilok & Blubbo. Previously unavailable until now, the original master tapes of this soundtrack have been stored in the archives of legendary German producer and music publisher Hans Wewerka who produced the recording sessions back in 1969. Here you can hear history in the making, the first step of a group of musicians wholl go on to achieve fame, success and recognition over the 70s, helping define a sound (often called Krautrock) that has been highly influential to this day. Those familiar with Cans output will recognize some of the bands characteristic sound, albeit in an embryonic form. Songs like Agilok & Blubbo or Kamera Song already hint at their later pop brilliance whereas the short cues and extended free jams found elsewhere in this soundtrack reminds us from the heterogeneous roots of a bunch of musicians coming from rock, jazz and avant-garde backgrounds. All in all, an excellent glimpse into the early stages of an innovative band developing its own musical language. This reissue includes detailed liner notes by Wah Wahs very own Raül G.Pratginestós and comes illustrated by original b/w shoots from the movie production. CD issue contains two bonus tracks: Memographie, plus Irmin Schmidts 1967 composition Hexapussy. In all, over 28 minutes of bonus material!" - Wah Wah.

"Inner Tube is about the inner emotional reverie of a world where life has been seen through the tube of a wave. Its a new band from Mark McGuire of Emeralds and Spencer Clark of The Skaters and Monopoly Child Star Searchers. Spencer has this to say about the experience: "The bliss and ecstatic power of Australian beach music has kept me in this positive mental attitude that I wanted to communicate to everyone around me. Mark and I began to be in touch, and started to really connect in our exotic fascination with Australia and its surf culture. We decided to record an album together with impressions from these private movies and their tunes. Mark travelled numerous times to Pacific City Studios so that we could make this album together(and eventually moved here). At one point, a woman visiting Hotel California who I hadnt met before, mentioned she thought it was strange that I played so much Australian music. I told her about my fascination with Storm Riders, the sickest Australian movie of all time. She immediately told me that her Uncle had a big part in the movie. The guys name is Rabbit Bartholomew. He is a magical person in this Storm Riders movie and has been an inspirational to surfers everywhere. He wrote this letter to Mark and I:

Hey Spencer,
Great to get ya letter. Christel gave me a bit of insight. Really cool how you guys were talking about Storm Riders and our family connection, thats meant to be bra. For sure, send me a demo, Ill give ya some feedback. Thats really cool about inner tube and the beloved zone, thats it mate, right on the money.

Best
Rab

We then realized that we were to travel to the Gold Coast in Australia to record Inner Tube Part Deux, and play a Surf Festival put on by Rabbit Bartholomews sister. The story just keeps on going, so Mark and I are really stoked to have you guys check this out with us..." - Pacific City Sound Visions/Wagon.

Title: Mutual Dreaming
Format: LP
Label: Cititrax
Country: USA
Price: $20.00
"Our sublabel Cititrax, is proud to present new music from Brooklyn based synth duo Innergaze. Their second LP, “Mutual Dreaming” is a highly anticipated release and were ecstatic that the vinyl is finally out. “Innergaze drag us slightly further back into the glorious cradle of dance music. Their music, crushed and static, obscured by sound. EBM, coldwave, early techno fight it out for dominance of the drum machine. Casually brutal vocals force their way through from the Death Factory. As if Chris & Coseys dalliances with the Eurythmics had conjured a restless pioneering demon to duet with Annie Lenox but had instead ended up consuming her. Celestial synths coexisting with the industrial landscape bellow.” -20 Jazz Funk Greats. “Innergaze is the musical project of Aurora Halal and Jason Letkiewicz – Letkiewicz is known for his work with or as Manhunter, Steve Summers and Rhythm Based Lovers; Halal a video editor and director. Its pretty clear that Innergaze is a wholly collaborative effort, as Letkiewiczs penchant for pulsing beats and organic house mingles with the hazy, psychedelic new-age atmospheres that shine through Halals video work, together creating something that could loosely fall under the ‘minimal synth tag. Dont expect some sort of easily placeable sound, though – Innergaze has far more personality than your average electro duo, relying on intuition, emotion and a good jam session to create their music, not a rigid set of pre-determined parameters. Together, its like a robot coated in human flesh, sentient yet vaguely artificial, and like most cyborgs portrayed on TV, quite beautiful. Im pretty sure they are in love, too, which is an interesting dynamic for a sound that often relies on aesthetic impassiveness.” - YellowGreenRed. The “Mutual Dreaming” LP is a limited pressing of 999 copies on 160 gram vinyl, housed in a high quality full color printed sleeve featuring a collaborative artwork concept by Veronica Vasicka and Aurora Halal." -Cititrax.

Label: Vinyl Vidi Vici
Country: France
Price: $17.00
"First recordings by this band formed by four musically inept students in Caen, France, 1978, and originally called Les Stukas. Innocents played their first shows in 1980, alongside Theatre (one single on FLVM), Les Spurts, and Brainwash - "there was, among others, a show where Koko (bass) was threatened at gunpoint by a hysterical person, one at an anti-nuclear festival full of pacifist hippies (there was a fight, anyway), and one in a psychiatric hospital (featuring a nutcase masturbating in  a window)." A planned tour was thwarted by compulsory military duty, after which they recorded six songs at the Melody Music studio in Caen: four of them are here, another one was compiled on the 1984 "13 Rock a Caen" compilation. Gatefold sleeve and an (inkjet-printed) insert with more info and lyrics (all in French)." - Vinyl Vidi Vici

"LP edition of 500, full color printed covers We saw Insayngel play some time in 2008 or maybe the end of 2007 at Glasslands. Immediately we said to each other "This band needs to have a record out. Lets do it." We talked to the band after the gig and they were down -- it was recorded, mastered by our friend Todd Cavallo, and sent off to the plant. Insayngel is Calder, Caitlin, Richard, and John. Calder and Caitlin are Vizusa and used to jam Excepter, and Richard and John are the brutal rhythm unit of Sightings. An intriguing combination of players to say the least, this LP brings a 30th Century sound to the history of New York City. The locked, wrecked rhythms, desparate, gorgeous wails, and shredded, anxious guitars are symphonic, undulating, impossible. A serious now vision that impressed us deeply enough to be the first LP weve ever done. Art by Calder, pressed in Brooklyn, New York." -Heavy Tapes

Price: $24.00
"Another remarkable package from the jet-setting Die Schachtel label." - FE. "Much more than just a CD, this edition encapsulates the true spirit of Die Schachtel. It really is a box full of surprises; a journey into the sound of a unique group and the mind of a genius composer. The white industrial cardboard box includes an audio CD, a 12-page booklet, five graphical scores plus Roulette, a clock-like gadget originally used as the score of the aleatory composition with the same title. The music on the CD includes the digitally re-mastered edition of their only (and impossible to find) LP, privately pressed in 1977, plus two previously unreleased long compositions, for more than an hour of a great musical experience. About: Insiememusicadiversa (Different Collective Music): A remote part of the world staged the hidden and extraordinary musical utopia of Insiememusicadiversa, an experience of collective music that devoured and assimilated the seeds of the musical avant-garde of the second half of the twentieth century, mixing Cage and Cardew, DIY aesthetics and free jazz, fluxus and electronic/concrete music, nihilism and mal de vivre. Founded in Umbria (a region of central Italy) in the early 70s by Terzilio Mancinelli, creative genius and visionary composer, Insiememusicadiversa was the representation of Sound as a way of living, as a devouring obsession, a breathing and pulsating paradigm. Its a lucid delirium in which every single sound was -- surprisingly -- rigorously determined (each composition is annotated with mind-blowing graphical scores). Insiememusicadiversa was looking for collective music, often played with self-built or invented electronic instruments, including in its timbre-filled landscape the remains and debris of music shattered into tiny fragments." - Die Schachtel.

Label: Hyped 2 Death
Country: USA
Price: $12.00
"The best of this classic D.I.Y. bands immense catalog of cassettes and vinyl 1979-82, plus never-released material. The Instant Automatons were not the most prolific of D.I.Y.s cassette-culture crowd, but the lads from Scunthorpe were arguably the most influential -- and the first to start swapping (rather than selling) cassettes. The instrumentation is sparse -- bass, guitar, and an assortment of home-built electronics -- while Mark Automaton contributes some of the finest lyrics in all of D.I.Y... A bad case of writers block spelled the end of the band in 1982, and partner/bassist/chief electrician Protag went on to Blyth Power, ATV?and the resurrected Zounds. 6-panel folder insert with bio, track-by-track commentary and plenty of photos." - Hyped2Death.

Title: Instant Coffee!
Format: LP
Label: Planam
Country: Italy
Price: $29.00
"A bizarre love triangle strung between the Baltimore noise scene, contemporary electronics and the New York jazz world, Instant Coffee play improvised music which spontaneously assembles itself into song shapes that blossom, catch fire, explode and distort in ways that are unpredictable and disorienting. A trio comprised of Lisle Ellis, M. C., Schmidt and Jason Willett, the band members boast some unusually checkered pasts. Lisle Ellis is one of the foremost bassists in modern jazz, and having played with the likes of Cecil Taylor, Fred Frith and John Zorn, hes now exploring the electroacoustic combination of traditional jazz techniques with realtime computer processing. M. C. Schmidt has been one half of the conceptually oriented electronic provocateurs Matmos since 1997, and has made music with Bjork, the Kronos Quartet, Terry Riley and Zeena Parkins; in this band he plays a perverse array of percussive objects and many recalcitrant synthesizers. Jason Willett is a Baltimore veteran of avant and out music both on the fringes of rock and noise; he has been in too many bands to mention, but was a longtime member of Half Japanese and collaborator with Jad Fair, and also plays in harsh free noise ensembles such as Leprechaun Catering. In these sessions, Jason plays contact-mic-ed rubber band and an improbable cluster of custom electronics created by noted Baltimore instrument maker Peter B. You would expect the results to fall into a Bermuda Triangle between jazz, electronic music and noise, but in fact Instant Coffees sound rages further afield: unexpectedly lovely ambience, murky Italian movie soundtracks, humid mirages of drone that take sharp turns towards rhythm, and a closing brush with mittel-European mournful lyricism. There are no noodly solos and no tedious, predictably looped grooves: this music stakes itself on a casually surreal series of dissolves from one form to another." - Planam. Side-label of Alga Marghen.

Title: Instant Orange
Format: Double LP
Label: Shadoks
Country: Germany
Price: $56.00
"Besides home to the Hells Angels, farmers and citrus grooves, San Bernardino, California was also where Instant Orange lived and released their first single in 1968. The band forged ahead and released another single (1973), album (1973) and two 10" EPs (1974 & 1975). All of their releases were small pressings of 100 copies and to this day, Instant Orange remains virtually unknown. Their homemade sound is a refreshing reflection of their West Coast folk-rock influences that were so prevalent during the 60s and early 70s. All original tracks with inspiration from bands like The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Love, Sandy Bull and others. Songs full of electric and acoustic guitars with nice doses of McGuinnesque 12-string riffing as well as many unsuspecting surprises (antiquated electronic effects, rambling rural explorations, long jams, experimental moves, stoner banter and other weirdness between songs, caveman fuzz, etc). A solid listen with enough original imagination to keep it interesting without the band creating an identity crisis by trying too hard to be something else than themselves. Hear it all on this limited double album, but grab it before it becomes elusive like some of San Bernardinos motorcycle riding inhabitants. 450 numbered/glossy heavy gatefold sleeve/180 gram pressing/insert." - Shadoks.

"INSTITUT FUER FEINMOTORIK (IFF) is an artists group working in different formats and media. Although the main activity is acoustic-art / music. IFF is located in Bad Saeckingen, Berlin, Cologne and Karlsruhe (all Germany). The group was founded 1997 for a club-event in Basel (Switzerland) at brisant kiosk/club. IFF produces different outputs (photography, video, music, drawing, computer-programming, printed matters etc.), organizes artistic-/cultural events, does lectures and workshops and publishes artistic goods such as music records, books etc. IFF got some reputation for their acoustic work with a reductionist set-up called octogrammoticum: 8 turntables, 4 DJ mixers + end-mixer, which is served by the group members. Anything (except records) which somehow fits between turntables and pick-up cartridges (household-rubberbands, paper-stickers, rubbergums, handicraft-tools + various tinker-trivias) may be played. Lately, IFF contributed to Art Exhibitions (e.g. MUDAM, Luxembourg), took part in the music-theater "ensemble fuer staedtebewohner" in Vienna, produced an abstract radioplay for RADIO ARTHUR (Swiss) and another one for RADIO ZERO (Portugal), they also published a book entitled "Feinmotorik Kompendium" in 2005. "Swiss-German sound researchers with an interesting, very effective approach to turntable manipulation: Using six to eight record players simultaneously, they play only the run-out grooves or labels of the records, plus generate tones using rubber bands, adhesive tape, and tooth brushes to tweak the phono cartridges and repeating lock-grooved records. The resulting sounds range from ultraminimal blipsnhiss to solid grooves not too far from Krautrock- Eddie Flowers. "..(LP) from the German masters of a new genre: "runoff groove". That is, electronic music created from the snap-crackle- pop of old LP runoff grooves, tonearm feedback, et cetera. Minimal tones that slowly build into rhythmic order. Their previously self-released (and now long gone) 12" & 10" wowed me with a brilliant focus on the tiny "unwanted" byproducts of the vinyl medium. Synchronic with Pole, Porter Ricks, Oval, et al., but with an even more experimental feel than previously believed possible. A 100% necessary release" - Jace Krause (HotF/Lost In Translation). "First 7" by turntablism-quintet Institut für Feinmotorik from Cologne/Freiburg, well-known for their records on Staubgold and Fusetron. In 2002 the Eventuell-crew organized the first exhibition with the Institut für Feinmotorik at the exhibition space "kontor" (Cologne) to document both their music and their visual art. Although purely done with prepared turnables, the tracks remind of the melancholic atmosphere of Gamelan music, but at the same time both "Original" and "Fälschung" ("imitation") proof that this collective still marks the most playful and elaborate end of minimal techno. The 7" comes in a stunning cover with a picture puzzle artwork, including ten "mistakes" to be found in the version on the backcover. A highly entertaining piece of art and music. Limited to 500 copies." - Eventuell.

"On this mini lp the groups work is focused on the acoustic sphere beyond usual gain signals. Elements of noise containing no original sense emerge to significant structures. The setup consists of six to eight empty record players which means that no gain signals but the empty or manipulated lock grooves or the paper labels of the records are played. Besides that Institut Fuer Feinmotorik have found some other ways to generate acoustic signals out of empty record players: house-rubberbands, adhesive tape and tooth brushes are just a few instruments used to produce different sounds." "Audio-path non-congestion from this unnamed grouping of Staubgold-related individuals, recorded live between April & June 1998. It may all be a ruse but I sense the same sort of post-plate Brinkmann/Betke-isms (straight-line scratches 90 degrees from the travel of the tone arm, tempos of exactly 133.333~ BPM for the perfect synchronization of downbeat ones along the side-path) in linear-growth & random click/pop aesthetic. Something for the Mego/Oval/life set." -- Hrvatski.

"This is an experimental radioplay wich has been exclusively produced for swiss artists "RadioArthur". Institut für Feinmotorik analysed and reproduced the structure of several radio-recordings out of the daily radio-program to imitate fifteen minutes of conventionalized broadcast with different noises and sounds, such as humming radio-frequencies, disturbed skype-transmission signals, field-recordings and found-sounds. Only little use was made of the sounds of prepared turntables (for wich the IFF is known for): to imitate hunman language in this case. Conventional patterns of radio such as news, music and jingles confirmed as templates. The individual patterns were simulated by abstract sounds with reference to their typical structure and aesthetic." - IFF.

"Forming out of the musical insurgence that was the NoiseFest at White Columns Gallery in 1981; Interference coalesced around three key figures of New Yorks downtown scene: Anne DeMaranis, David Linton and Michael Brown. DeMaranis had just parted ways with an early incarnation of Sonic Youth and co-curated the NoiseFest with Thurston Moore. Linton had headed to NYC a few years earlier with then school/band mate Lee Renaldo, eventually hooking up with Rhys Chatham for a three year stretch. Brown, then a twenty six year old PhD candidate at NYU, had recently broke rank with Rhys Chatham and drafted a wholly unconventional percussive approach to the fender bass. From their inception through their eventual fragmentation 30 months later, Interference charted their course across the stages available to them: CBGBs, The Mudd Club, The Kitchen etc., ultimately swelling to a quartet with the addition of fellow Rhys Chatham veteran Joe Dizney. In 1982 they recorded this LP at Radio City. Originally slated for release on Josh Baer and Glen Brancas legendary Neutral records, the record has remained unreleased, until now." Bonus LP contains remixes by David Last, Doily, Criterion, Binsang AKA Toshio Kajiwara, Bubblyfish & glomag And QPE. Printed inner sleeves with artwork and liner notes... International Harvester were the second incarnation of Bo Anders Perssons group, after Pärson Sound (whose early sound experimentation was finally documented in 2001 by Subliminal Sounds). Early in the 60s Bo Anders Persson had envisioned a new kind of communicative music - would it be possible to create a more contemporary kind of rhythmic music that could play the same role as traditional folk music, a music that was both sensual and transcendent? "CD reissue of this all-time Swedish underground classic, originally issued on the Scandinavian Love label in 1968. International Harvester were the second incarnation of Bo Anders Perssons group, after Parson Sound (whose early sound experimentation was finally documented in 2001 by Subliminal Sounds). Early in the 60s Bo Anders Persson had envisioned a new kind of communicative music -- would it be possible to create a more contemporary kind of rhythmic music that could play the same role as traditional folk music, a music that was both sensual and transcendent? In 1967 came the answer. The hypnotic feelings of Terry Rileys eternity music + the rough-riffing of The Rolling Stones = a new alchemical wedding. Pärson Sound was formed, which started to perform publicly in the summer of 1967. The next year they changed the name into International Harvester, taken from the American company manufacturing agricultural machines, trucks and ambulances. The astonishing thing about their two official recordings is the complete freedom of the music, inspired by a Terry Riley-esque repetitive song structure. The atmospheres of these songs are both utopian and dystopian, mixed with an early environmental awareness. Sov Gott Rose-Marie starts with the strongest of statements: the Latin death hymn "Dies Irae," played like it was a medieval heavy rock-theme. This was music of turmoil and inner upheaval, mostly played in the slowest of rhythms, but still with a sense of constant change. Theres constant juxtapositions going on between documentary sounds and floating states of mind; hard rocking tunes, demonstrations against the war in Vietnam, bird song, sounds from police radio, psychedelic tranquility, lullabies." -Silence

"The Intolerance born in September 1983 in Cuneo, a small town in the montains near Torino, by an idea of Luca Musso, Marco Marongiu and Paolo Chiotasso, all musicians orbiting around the various high school of music expecially SMET (electronic music studio in Torino) founded by Enore Zaffiri. At the vocals Raffaella Risso. Cultural landmarks and music influences were Suicide, Daf, Throbbing Gristle, the german electronic music scene in the years 60/70, composers as Luciano Berio/Stockhausen and the new international postpunk / new wave scene of the period. The instrumentation used in the two first years of activity of the band (which is used in this album ) was Roland JX-3P, Roland Juno-106, Roland Sh-101 and Drumatrix TR-606. Between the end 83 and end 84 the band played in various venues and squat (as the historic Victor Charlie, in Pisa). In this period the band was menaged by Ivan Rosso and Leonardo Borghese, both semi-official members of the band. The last one, Leonardo Borghese, was the "deus ex machina", founder of the independent label "Suoni dal Profondo Nord" (Notes from the Deep North), who produced the first Intolearce demo and other bands of the same town/area. Intolerance appeared also in a split tape compilation enclosed on Amen fanzine and VM compilation Lp.At the end of the 80s the band split up. "Limited edition 2LP. The Invisible Hands is the English translation of the bands original Egyptian Arabic name: El Ayadi El Khafeyya. Taking almost two years to create amidst an unusual and challenging backdrop, this is the new project of Alvarius B. (Alan Bishop of Sun City Girls). Eleven highly-crafted songs projected through his typically dark lens of songwriting and a band of brilliant musicians from Egypt; this special edition limited 2LP includes the English and Arabic language vocal versions of the album together in one set. Sides A and B are the English album delivered in ABs patented sinister style, drenched in lovely psychedelic folk arrangements and vocal choruses with a nod to what could have potentially been an album that surfaced decades ago but instead found its way into the future, superimposed over historic and tumultuous times in the center of the Arab world. Sides C and D are the Arabic version -- the exact same 11 songs but the lead vocals are sung in Arabic by Cherif El Masri and Aya Hemeda. The mixes are almost identical but there are various subtle differences in instrumentation, vocal choruses, and effects. The group was established during the summer of 2011 and the album was recorded in Cairo in May of 2012. Band members include Cherif El Masri and Aya Hemeda (both former members of popular Egyptian group Eskenderella) with drummer Magued Nagati. On a handful of songs, several other players from the Cairo scene are featured including Sam Shalabi (Shalabi Effect/Land Of Kush) on oud and Mohamed Medhat on violin and viola. This limited edition one-time 2LP vinyl pressing comes in a beautiful heavy-duty gatefold jacket with full-color artwork and all lyrics and credits printed in English and Arabic." -Abduction.

Title: S/T
Format: CD
Label: Abduction
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"The Invisible Hands is the English translation of the bands original Egyptian Arabic name: El Ayadi El Khafeyya. Taking almost two years to create amidst an unusual and challenging backdrop, this is the brand new project of Alvarius B. (Alan Bishop of Sun City Girls). Eleven highly-crafted new songs projected through his typically dark lens of songwriting and a band of brilliant musicians from Cairo, the premier, self-titled CD version of this album is the English language vocals edition (see below) delivered in ABs patented sinister style; drenched in lovely psychedelic folk arrangements and vocal choruses with a nod to what could have potentially been an album that surfaced decades ago but instead found its way into the future superimposed over historic and tumultuous times in the center of the Arab world. All tracks written and sung by Alvarius B. in English. Note: This is the English language CD version of the album. An Arabic language CD version will only be available to purchase in the Middle East. Both English and Arabic language versions will be available for digital download and both versions together will be available as a limited edition 2LP in the very near future." -Abduction.

Title: Heliofugue/Calling Order
Format: 7"
Label: Epicene
Country: USA
Price: $5.50
"Two of my favorite modern noise makers from the states have to be HAIR POLICE and IOVAE. This is very close to being a split from both. IOVAE is Ron Orovitz also known as the D.J. on ART DAMAGE RADIO, a memeber of the no-wave nosie group DEATH BEAM, a noise weirdos WILD GUNMAN. For IOVAEs track we get slow churning crackle, pop and hiss from the "Grinder" (a series of ancient military oscillators) that builds into what sounds like the church bell tones of a satanic mass echoing through the devils canyon. 3 LEGGED RACE is Robert from HAIR POLICE and EYES AND ARMS OF SMOKE. For the Race side we get one ominous heavenly droning swelling tone which is given the extreme reverb treatment until it sounds like a white washed blissed out radiant hum. The artwork was designed by Robert and is a must see. One sheet of lines with a transparency of lines. but when one is placed over the othere, you start to see a hidden image. Also just moving the transparency around on top of the other page makes alot of tripped out intersecting lines. like i said one you have to see, def one of the best looking, most intresting covers in EPICENE history. Limited edition of 300 copies, split release with Mark of Black Tents Gentian label." - Epicene.

Title: Split
Format: Picture Disc 7"
Label: Ignivomous

Price: $7.00
"Though the term musical theater often conjures up horrific images of over-acting and lifes foibles resolved in song form, theres no inherent evil in the concept of combining the two. Lexington, Kentuckys Auk Theater offer simple pantomimes with cartoonish props, set to a soundtrack that combines a warped aural accompaniment with diegetic effects that act as guides for the narrative. Irene Moon, the groups founder, takes everyday activities and social interactions (in this case, a visit to the dentist), magnifying the absurd and surreal, to create her otherworldly scenes. On her side of this 7⿝, a split picture disc with New Yorks Ortho, one must imagine the visual aspects of ⿿Auk Dentist⿝ as clued by the music, though, with Moons penchant for the weaving of samples, electronic noises, and isolated vocal recordings, its hard to pinpoint exactly what could be happening. A ringing phone, the ominous sound of the drill, and a voice-over from what was probably a high school psychology filmstrip offer clues, but, in the end, the music neednt rely on the story, and Moons psychedelic pastiche remains just as hypnotic in its purely aural form. Ortho, capitalizes, it seems, on Moons love of entomology, with their contribution to the disc, with plenty of buzzing and flittering sound. Its not hard to imagine the music as the magnified sounds of insects, with the rapid flapping of wings, scurrying feet, and probing antennae. "Ortho demonstrates how humans would benefit by behaving more like insects⿝ is a title thats almost longer than the groups side of the slab, but its a useful guide when it comes to listening to Orthos buggy noise." - Adam Strohm (FakeJazz).

Title: Tamafuri
Format: CD
Label: PSF
Country: Japan
Price: $20.00
"An ultra mysterious blast from the deepest underground! Iro were (and still are) a little-known shamanic improvisation unit, consisting of Kawasaki-based husband and wife Shizuko and Toshio Orimo. Formed in 1981, they released a number of cassette-only albums during the 80s. Deeply suspicious of the merest whiff of commercialism, they never took the opportunities for greater fame -- in spite of some substantial media coverage in Japan at the time. The duo still perform today, in a more ethnic, esoteric ritual mode. Tamafuri was originally released on cassette on their own Shaman Label in 1985. Its a fantastically charged blend of ultra-propulsive ethnic drone, free jazz drumming with harsh noise textures and intense, almost possessed vocal incantations from Shizuko. As Takeo Udagawa puts it, their high-energy improvisations feel intensely dangerous, like a nuclear reactor-core going into meltdown, throwing out waves of radiation and intense heat. A must for any true believer in the power of wailing blurt -- from Keiji Haino, to LAFMS, to Takayanagi. Comes with great contextual liner notes (in Japanese and English) by fringe music researcher Takeo Udagawa. And, yes, Shizuko and Toshio are indeed the parents of young shakuhachi sensation, Sabu Orimo." - PSF

Price: $14.00
"First official release of early 70s Scottish underground heavy rock recordings from this group who were stomping around the UK with the likes of Black Sabbath, Hackensack, Pink Fairies, Juicy Lucy and others from the time, but never released a proper album. Their name, Iron Claw, was taken from the first line in King Crimsons song 21st Century Schizoid Man. In the beginning, Iron Claw probably became the worlds first Black Sabbath tribute band, as they incorporated the entire first Black Sabbath LP and single into their set! As they went on, their live sets included many originals as well as covers such as War Pigs, Fairies Wear Boots, Wicked World, Green Manalishi and Lady Whiskey. This collection of sixteen original studio tracks documents their existence from 1970 through 1974 and features a wonderful 16-page booklet with extensive liner notes, lyrics and photos!" -Rockadrome

"Recorded in 2003 as he was travelling around the country, this very simple, intimate, and home spun record continues to stun all who have heard it as a self released CDR. Asas vocals are complemented so perfectly by his dear friend Swann that the songs resonate with the mutual knowing only old close friends can share. If you are at all familiar with his efforts in FEATHERS, or watched him hunch over a guitar with WTICH, or have been perplexed and amazed at his saw blade solo work, this document will be an irreplaceable eye-opener to how well grounded and concurrently high reaching Asas music can be. Modlitewnik continues Solanges fantastically far-out occult psych-folk-drone trip outs, 12 tracks across the length of this LP, considerably shorter pieces in comparison to her work with Mehdi in Natural Snow Buildings, Isengrind retains a certain amount of the sound of the duo, but it is a whole other beast, in many ways much stranger and darker, but still hauntingly beautiful with some fantastic blissed-out vocal drones, dreamy guitars, and psyche soaked dark drone zones. Heavyweight vinyl, housed in a pro-printed full colour fold over sleeve with all 4 panels featuring stunning artwork by Solange, the inside of the cover is especially spectacular. Sound performer, composer and sound engineer Kazuya Ishigami was born in 1972, in Osaka. He graduated from Osaka University Of Arts in 1994. He composed his pieces for INA-GRM in August 1997. His Radiophonic work "Sonic Escapism," "2nd 49" and "Whisper Of Sound God" were broadcast from Deutschlandradio in 2005-2008. Ishigami studied at music academies in Japan and France, and since 1997, has also acted as a noise/improvisation unit Billy? and Daruin. This CD consists of two recent works of "Acousmatic Electronic Music." Works in this style may be more challenging for electronic music fans because they are so academic, but Ishigamis sound is exciting and cool. "Hosshin no Kizashi" is a work based on the theme of prayer by priests in the Buddhist temple of Senkoji (in Osaka). Hosshin means "departure bodhi mind." "Hosshin no Kizashi" means there is still a hesitation. "Otokamui no Sasayaki" (trans. "Whisper of sound god"); "Oto" means "sound" in Japanese. "Kamui" means "god" in Ainu. Title: Drum Drama
Format: CD
Label: PSF
Country: Japan
Price: $20.00
"New solo work from the Japanese undergrounds drummer of choice. Six years on from 1999s masterful Red Night, Toshiaki Toshi Ishizuka is back with a new set of deep, shimmering nightscapes for percussion. Toshi has been a pivotal figure in the Japanese underground since the late 60s, when he founded Japans first radical, politically-engaged punk group Zuno Keisatsu. Since then he has been the sticksman of choice for howling folk-poets Kazuki Tomokawa, Yasuki Fukushima and Kan Mikami, as well as making up one corner of the Vajra trio with Mikami and Keiji Haino, and leading his own group Cinorama. More recently he has been active in the Sanjah trio with Mikami and altoist Masayoshi Urabe. Drum Drama is Toshis third album of solo percussion. The first, Kaze no Yami, was released in a miniscule edition in 1991. Since a full reissue is for various reasons impossible, Toshi has included two mesmerizing pieces from Kaze no Yami here, alongside three new pieces. Toshi has a unique approach that blends overtly textural work (rubbing cymbals, rolling metallic balls, bowed gongs) with mountain-deep kick-drum bombs and flashes of staccato martial snares. The results are deeply evocative nocturnal landscapes of immense percussive variety, subtle, lyrical, cinematic and even soulful. Another major statement from an unsung thinker." -Alan Cummings

"Islaja is Merja Kokkonen, a visual artist and musician from Helsinki, Finland. Shes been releasing records on Finnish label Fonal since 2004. The first one, Meritie, introduced her lovely sense of musical wonder to the world and garnered excited praise from the more astute ears at The Wire (UK) and Dusted Magazine (USA). The 2nd release Palaa Aurinkoon was equally boss and brought Islaja to North America with compatriot Finnish folk experimentalists Lau Nau and Kuupuu where she mesmerized audiences with a captivating minimalism of sweet singing and small toy and hand-made instruments played by herself and companion Jukka Raisanen. In 2007, she released her third album Ulual Yyy which expanded her sound into further psychedelic paths. Since then Islaja has played numerous large festivals including Eurosonic, Sonar and the 2006 All Tomorrows Parties/Nightmare Before Christmas curated by Thurston Moore. Animal Collective invited Islaja to play a two week support tour with them in Europe. Blaze Mountain Recordings is a live document, all music and words by Merja and played by Merja and Jukka. Its the perfect portal to enter the living world of Islajas music/art spirit with a unity of traditional Finnish forest mystery and a radical song universe." -Ecstatic Peace

Title: Keraaminen Pää
Format: LP
Label: Fonal
Country: Finland
Price: $18.00
"LP version. Islaja is the recording alias of Merja Kokkonen, a musician and visual artist from Helsinki, currently based in Berlin. A regular contributor to the more psych/folk and improv-oriented Kemialliset Ystävät and Avarus, Islajas recordings are by contrast almost entirely self-contained, reflecting the more personal nature of her music, and a natural affinity towards an independent/DIY aesthetic. Her fourth album for Fonal, Keraaminen Pää (trans. "Ceramic Head") contains many shades of black. It also bears witness to a shift in perception and execution; yet the thread that weaves its way through all Islajas work remains resolute, visible and intact. If Islajas previous albums for Fonal appear to exhibit a more overtly pastoral nature, this in part feels coincidental, or secondary to something much larger and more difficult to define. From the earliest Islaja recordings, Merja has made the simplest of instrumentation work to her own ends, displaying a disquieting combination of innocence and fearlessness, and a seemingly innate ability to transcend the confines of a genre. It is the same singular approach and vision that informs Keraaminen Pää -- born largely of whatever instruments were on hand; if the sound has shifted into more electronic terrain, it remains as immersive and subtly evocative as ever. When sketching out the dimensions of Keraaminen Pää, Islaja was clear about one thing: the album should have a soul within, preferably silky thin and translucent, like a jellyfish swimming around in the ocean. During the recording process, however, Keraaminen Pää turned into a heavy, robot-molded disc of clay. It spins, shines, pops and crackles, all the while escaping definition. This is also is the first Islaja album to feature English translations of Merjas lyrics. The songs on Keraaminen Pää were written, composed, and recorded on three continents over a period of three years, with Islaja performing, recording and mixing the majority of the album herself. The recordings may recall the waves crashing on the Bight of Benin, the frogs croaking on Lantau Island, the starry sky above Roihuvuori, Helsinki, or maybe a one-euro pizza in Berlin. Less fractured and more fleshed out than previous Islaja recordings, the songs still careen recklessly, pulsing and shifting with a life of their own." -Fonal

"Islaja might well be a forgotten islet somewehere or a name of courageous sword swinging heroine in a forgotten fable. For one, Islaja is a certain young woman that has sang and played an album full of heart-rending intimate music. Half a year of quietly working in her homestudio brought about a cluster of transcendental tunes that are now being released as an album called Meritie. One song Islaja whispered in a fewer and another with an oriental monkey. At times it is impossible to tell where the sounds are coming from. The variety of instruments is vast, but all have their space and strong belief in the power of individual sounds can be heard. Islaja has exceptional sense of harmony that alone can make the album a magical listening experience. The voice of Islaja sounds bravely over the screaming crazed sea-gulls. It is stunningly honest. This is a great victory in these times of sadness." Sami from Fonal said "Its a bit like Kemialliset Ystävät and Fursaxa but with a more traditional Finnish feel to it. Its a girl from Finland whos done all the stuff alone. Its one of the records in the Fonal catalogue I nowadays listen to most."

Title: Palaa Aurinkoon
Format: CD
Label: Fonal
Country: Finland
Price: $18.00
"Islaja masters the elements of our universe one by one or maybe the sea and the sun are embracing Islaja, it must go both ways but there, where all this happens, the listener is received with clattering sounds of paradise and drowned by surprise in a swell that stretches all the way to the dark rock bottom. Whats down there? Fight the rotten faith so itll wither until it hardly exists, believe it! Islaja shows the way of rhythm, no it isnt a straight one, the way of chant, it cant be foreseen. Textures evolve into new ones. Scabby rhythms spin socks on feet, skin burns into ashes in the attacking heat. Senile wine glasses wail of happiness. Fallen off beard hair are woven into a scarf that lets the wind blow fast right through it. If only life would be like this more than just an hour at a time! After everything the sun blesses the way with Islajas words, it spits out of its system the wet and transformed listener, who longs for the light again. Islajas second album was born in two different places that have been sewed up one to another with the binds of words and a rich sound world. Here and there, Islajas friends have lent their voices for this world. Loose guitar paths, long strokes of wind instruments, glasses and toys that clink, rattle and tinkle, rhythms, keyboards and Islajas wonderful, many-faceted voice are cooing in a miraculous net. The album is a spontaneous texture of muscle, cartilage and liquid, everything organized in such a surprising way that one cant believe right away that its a human being, but soon enough it becomes clear that its a most ingenious creature. It evolves by itself. It tells us how everything metamorphoses, it relies on itself and infuses belief into the listener that one can change the world. The secret place where the creature invites the listener is revealed to be our real world, it lives here with us." - Lau Naukkarinen.

"Islajas third album is a journey deeper into the world that for us is a dream and a fairytale, but to her a reality. Islaja as a concept has turned into a star that is expected to shine with brilliance. But she is something else. The songs tell us about the decay of our age, its demise and immorality, its plunge into heartless consumer culture. Islaja herself does not burn in that same fire. Her fire is an inner fire. Behind her eyes and in her heart you can see and hear her true charisma. True dedication and utter disrespect for the artificial authority made by men. Yet she is not the self-destructive Nico or the eccentric Björk. But a good woman. A tough one. Her eyes can burn a hole in you. Her songs are poems and stabbing knives. - Sami Sänpäkkilä." "Islaja is Merja Kokkonen, a young visual artist and musician living and working in Helsinki, Finland. Islaja records her music at home using a rainbow of instruments to accompany her personal vocal delivery sung in Finnish. Title: Experimental Music of Japan Vol. 6: R.G.B./Pre OPTRON 1999
Format: CD
Label: Edition Omega Point
Country: Japan
Price: $26.00
"This CD is a remastered reissue of a very limited CD-R released by Omega Point in 1999. This is the sixth volume in Edition Omega Points Experimental Music Of Japan series. Atsuhiro Ito was born in 1965. He launched his career as a visual artist in the late 80s, and in 98 began presenting sound performances at art exhibitions. Ito made use of fluorescent lighting (which is also an element of his art installations) in the creation of an original musical device called the Optron. In addition, Ito is active in a number of musical units. One of these is Optrum, the explosively loud "extreme optical noise-core band" consisting of Ito and drummer Yoichiro Shin, and another is free jazz trio Kazuo Imai Trio with Kazuo Imai, a guitarist who is also a member of Marginal Consort, and Manabu Suzuki (electronics). He published his own label Gotobai Recordings in 2009. "My homemade instrument is called the Optron -- it outputs flicker-noise of fluorescent lamps as sound directly. In the early years of its conception, it was not only uncontrollable and unstable, but also the sound was so barbaric. However, I had no intention of controlling the system and performing it as music. I recorded the electric phenomenon by flicker of fluorescent lamp innocently. I first named the Optron sound system when I performed a live show after the release of the CD-R. The sound materials of this CD-R were not recorded as noise-performances, but rather, they would be called recordings of phenomenon as effect from experimental works, and an extension of my installation works. This fluorescent performance had not gotten a good reputation from my acquaintances in those days. However, I was interested in the lights and sounds simply, and it is not too much to say that its only a feeling of wow, its so exciting!" --Atsuhiro Ito; Housed in a cardboard paper gatefold sleeve with newly-written liner notes in Japanese & English by the artist himself. Limited edition of 400 copies only." - Omega Point.

"Its no wonder that LIZZIE BOUGATSOS and SADIE LASKA sound great together. Hitting it off the first day of Art school, the two hung out for the first time at Laskas weed-dealing older brothers party, and the two have been close ever since. With her multi-instrumental and vocal work in the celebrated band GANG GANG DANCE, Bougatsos found herself eager to focus more on drumming. She rang up Laska and the two set to work. The result - a blend of propulsive drumming and samples from all over the musical (and often non-musical) spectrum - is a visceral and moving experience." - Social Registry.

Format: CD
Label: Sound@One
Country: USA
Price: $9.00
"Following their initial tape release on Conduit Creations, The Diaper Band / Moshes Mix Vol. I, and subsequent vinyl offering, with our with jazz, New Yorks IZITITIZ presents Lucky Bird, a work inspired by such personalities and artifacts as Alan Arenius, the roof of ABC No Rio, Animal, a pet pigeon, Nami Yamamotos Freedumb and a set of Hinthouse chimes. The music is envisioned as a soundtrack to the story of a manimal drummers search for a mythic box of Cuban Jade hidden in a paper bag. Along the way he meets a pigeon named Lucky Bird with whom he shares an affinity for dancing around socks to drum solos. While they dance, two ghosts appear: Zashiki-Warashi and Kattorimatto, two dead idiots from the clan of Takechi Samurai. Rounding out the group is a flamingo trainer, desperate for any adventure which will help him escape from the Northern authorities. Without revealing too much of the story, expect harrowing episodes such as: *Cupcake captured by the Northern authorities! *Kattorimatto becomes a zombie in an unusual trance ceremony! *Lucky Bird, in an attempt to save the Jade fromdestruction, eats it! *"The band" is cloned during a search of the ghost town "Clit Stop Junction"!" - S@1.
